This can be done at the command prompt like so: a = sorted(b, key=lambda d: (-d['Total_Points'], d['TOT_PTS_Misc'])) But I have to run this through a function, where I pass in the list and the sort keys. For example, def multikeysort(dict_list, sortkeys):. How can the lambda line be used which will sort the list, for an arbitrary number of keys that are passed in to the multikeysort function, and take into consideration that the sortkeys may have any number of keys and those that need reversed sorts will be identified with a '-' before it?

Dns.GetHostEntry returns multiple IP addresses

This question probably highlights a lack of understanding of networking principals on my part, rather than a programming issue. I'm doing a lookup on a hostname using Dns.GetHostEntry This returns an IPHostEntry to me, which has an AddressList property which is an array of IPAddress. I always thought there is a 1 to 1 mapping between hostname and IP, but I'm finding that in some cases I get back several IPAddress(es) for the same host. This is a surprise to me. Which part of domain name resolution do I not understand?

CSS Attribute Content Selector multiple declarations

I have this in my CSS: div#headwrap ul li a[href*="dev"] {background: #034769}; div#headwrap ul li a[href*="music"] {background: #A61300}; div#headwrap ul li a[href*="opinion"] {background: #b2d81e}; div#headwrap ul li a[href*="work"] {background: #ffc340}; So, my expected behavior is that where a link (a) within a list item (li) inside a unordered list (ul) inside a div with id "headwrap" has an href that contains "dev", the link will have a background color of #034769. If the link has an href that contains "music" it will have a background color of #A61300, and so on. However, what I am seeing is that the rule is only correctly applied to "dev". If I reorder the CSS declarations (putting music first, for instance), it only gets applied to "music". I'm testing in Firefox and Chrome, both are doing the same thing. Only the first one is applied. Anyone have any ideas why?

The other option would be to checkout from svn, but then I face other problems (I don't know how to setup the dependencies for automatically build) Does anyone have an idea or good links on this topic? One check constraint or multiple check constraints?

Any suggestions on whether fewer check constraints are better, or more? How should they be grouped if at all? Suppose I have 3 columns which are VARCHAR2(1 BYTE), each of which is a 'T'/'F' flag. I want to add a check constraint to each column specifying that only characters IN ('T', 'F') are allowed. Should I have 3 separate check constraints, one for each column: COL_1 IN ('T', 'F') COL_2 IN ('T', 'F') COL_3 IN ('T', 'F') Or a single check constraint: COL_1 IN ('T', 'F') AND COL_2 IN ('T', 'F') AND COL_3 IN ('T', 'F') My thoughts are it is best to keep these three separate, as the columns are logically unrelated to each other. The only case I would have a check constraint that examines more than one column is if there was some relationship between the value in one and the value in another, e.g.: (PARENT_CNT > 0 AND PRIMARY_PARENT IS NOT NULL) OR (PARENT_CNT = 0 AND PRIMARY_PARENT IS NULL)

How To: UiBinder + GWT MVP + multiple independent display areas

I am using GWT MVP and UiBinder to create an app with a DockLayoutPanel. I want the north and south docks to be static, containing buttons and links. I want to have dynamic views in the center and two different areas of the east dock. As these dynamic areas should be independent of each other, I am setting up different ActivityMapper and ActivityManager's for each dynamic display area; center, east-top, and east-bottom. How can I independently initialize these 3 different display areas when the application is loaded? How can I switch from one Activity to another in one display area without affecting the other areas? When I use the the PlaceController's goTo to switch from one Place to another in one area, the other area's Activity is stopped. Mayday, please help, mayday! Winform User Settings - Allow multiple choice values at Runtime

I created a simple User Settings Dialog by binding the Property.Settings to a PropertyGrid. This works like a charm but now I would like to allow only certain choices for some values. I have noticed that some Types will give a dropdown of possible choices. This is what I am shooting for but for, say, Strings. Example, one of the Settings is UserTheme which is a String. Black, Blue, Silver. The program reads that string from the Settings File and sets the Theme on Startup. I can type in a correct theme and it works but if I type in Pink it will not as there is not a pink option. N-Tier Architecture - Structure with multiple projects in VB.NET

I would like some advice on the best approach to use in the following situation... I will have a Windows Application and a Web Application (presentation layers), these will both access a common business layer. The business layer will look at a configuration file to find the name of the dll (data layer) which it will create a reference to at runtime (is this the best approach?). The reason for creating the reference at runtime to the data access layer is because the application will interface with a different 3rd party accounting system depending on what the client is using. So I would have a separate data access layer to support each accounting system. These could be separate setup projects, each client would use one or the other, they wouldn't need to switch between the two. Projects: MyCompany.Common.dll - Contains interfaces, all other projects have a reference to this one. MyCompany.Windows.dll - Windows Forms Project, references MyCompany.Business.dll MyCompany.Web.dll - Website project, references MyCompany.Business.dll MyCompany.Busniess.dll - Business Layer, references MyCompany.Data.* (at runtime) MyCompany.Data.AccountingSys1.dll - Data layer for accounting system 1 MyCompany.Data.AccountingSys2.dll - Data layer for accounting system 2 The project MyCompany.Common.dll would contain all the interfaces, each other project would have a reference to this one. Hi, during initialization startup on tomcat, the configurations are: 1) a webapp/WEB-INF/web.xml that imports yummy-servlet.xml in contextConfigLocation (although i'm aware that is not required since the servlet-name is yummy it will try to load yummy-servlet.xml by default) 2) a webapp/WEB-INF/yummy-servlet.xml that imports a spring/applicationContext-hibernate.xml file 3) a webapp/WEB-INF/spring/applicationContext-hibernate.xml that imports a applicationContext-dataSource.xml file 4) a webapp/WEB-INF/spring/applicationContext-dataSource.xml i'm getting errors about Failed to import bean definitions from relative location, but the stack trace is not very explicit about exactly what is the problem, i've been looking at these since yesterday and i really don't see So it schould look like a current fullcalendar week view but for every single day. Is there an obvious solution for this? super dealloc error using multiple table view calsses

I am new to Iphone apps and I am trying to build a tab based app. I am attempting to have a table ontop of an image in both tabs. On tab with a table of audio links and the other tab with a table of video links. This has all gone swimmingly, I have created two viewControllers for the two tables. All the code works great apart from to get it to work I have to comment out the super dealloc in the - (void)dealloc {} in the videoTableViewController for the second tab. If I don't I get the error message: FREED(id): message numberOfSectionsInTableView: sent to freed object please help, i have no idea why it is doing this...

Multiple undo managers for a text view

Hi, I've a text view that gets its content from an attributed string stored in a model object. I list several of these model objects in a drawer and when the user clicks on one the text view swaps its content. I now need to also swap the undo manager for the text view. I initialise an undo manager on my model object and use undoManagerForTextView to return it to the text view, but something's not quite right. Strategically placed logging statements show me that everything's working as planned: on startup a new model object is initialised correctly and a non-null undo manager is always pulled by the text view. But when it comes to actually doing undo, I just can't get the behaviour I want. I open a window, type something and press cmd+z, and undo works. I open a window, type something, select a new model on the table, type something, go back to the first model and try to undo and all I get is a beep. Something on the documentation made me raise an eyebrow, as it would mean that I can't have undo with several model objects: The default undo and redo behavior applies to text fields and text in cells as long as the field or cell is the first responder (that is, the focus of keyboard actions). Once the insertion point leaves the field or cell, prior operations cannot be undone.

Using LINQ to SQL with multiple databases

I am working on a new project and hoping to use LINQ to SQL for the data access but have come across the following issue. I need to have my application access 3 databases with similar but not the same table structure, for example Database1 and Database 2 has a table called tblCustomer with 2 columns CustomerKey and CustomerName Database2 has a table called tblCustomer with 3 columns CustomerKey, CustomerName and CustomerPostCode I am looking for a solution that will allow me a query all three databases without the need for 3 GetCustomerList functions as Database1 and Database2 could use the same function as are the same structure, with an override function for database 3 to bring back the additional field. Is there a way i can declare a base datacontext class to handle Database 1 and 2 with an inherited version for Database 3. Thanks In Advance Stuart Ferguson

First of all, I'm still working in classic ASP (vbScript) with an MS Access Database. And, yes I know its archaic, but I'm still hopeful I can do this! So now to my problem: Take the following table as an example: PROJECTS ContactName StartDate EndDate Complete Mitch 2009-02-13 2011-04-23 No Eric 2006-10-01 2008-11-15 Yes Mike 2007-05-04 2009-03-30 Yes Kyle 2009-03-07 2012-07-08 No Using ASP (with VBScript), and an MS Access Database as the backend, I’d like to be able to sort this table with the following logic: I would like to sort this table by date, however, depending on whether a given project is complete or not I would like it to use either the “StartDate” or “EndDate” as the reference for a particular row. So to break it down further, this is what I’m hoping to achieve: For PROJECTS where Complete = “Yes”, reference “EndDate” for the purpose of sorting. For PROJECTS where Complete = “No”, reference “StartDate” for the purpose of sorting. So, if I were to sort the above table following these rules, the output would be: PROJECTS ContactName StartDate EndDate Complete 1 Eric 2006-10-01 2008-11-15* Yes 2 Mitch 2009-02-13* 2011-04-23 No 3 Kyle 2009-03-07* 2012-07-08 No 4 Mike 2007-05-04 2009-03-30* Yes *I’ve put a star next to the date that should be used for the sort in the table above. Need to merge multiple pdf's into a single PDF with Table Of Contents sections

Will have 50-100 single PDF's that we'll be generating with a php script. PDF's are generally grouped into groups of 10-20. Each group needs to have it's own Table of Contents or Index, and then there also needs to be a Master Table of Contents or Index at the beginning. Or if that is too difficult we could get away with a single Table of Contents at the beginning. What's the best way to go about this? Will we need to create the Table of Contents and then export that to PDF and append it to the beginning and mash the rest of the files after that? Or is there a better solution? And what's the best tool for us to merge the pdf's? Will be running on a Linux server.

jQuery: Multiple animations with a delay on a set of divs

Hey there, I have a group of 4 divs and I'm looking to use jQuery to animate them once, then have a delay using delay(), and then run another set of animations on them, putting the divs back to their original configuration. In the case of line 2, showOption1() will run fine, but then only $("#option1").animate({ left: "743px", }, 1500); will work from hideOption1() after the delay. The rest of hideOption1() is fired immediately after showOption1() finishes, ignoring the delay. On the other hand, if I run line 5, all the code in hideOption1() runs simultaneously as desired, but ignores the delay entirely, running immediately after showOption1() finishes. How can I have all the code in hideOption1() run simultaneously after the delay? Thanks much in advance!

database splitting; multiple tables

I am coding a classifieds ad web app. What is the optimal way to structure the database for this? Because of the high repeatability, would it be faster (in terms of searching/indexing) to have a separate table in the database for each city? Or would it be okay to just have one table for every city (it would have a lot of rows..). The classifieds table has id, user_id, city_name, category,[description and detail fields].
