  • In Apache, how do I set up password protection?

    - by rphello101
I'm attempting to set up a server using Apache. In the conf file, I inserted the code: <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride AuthConfig AuthType Basic AuthName "Restricted Files" AuthBasicProvider file AuthUserFile C:\...\serverpass.txt Require user Admin </Directory> In order to try and get Apache to require a password. I created the username and password with htpasswd -c. When I got to localhost though, it doesn't prompt me for a username and password?

  • Virtualmin & git integration

    - by weby3456
I've installed virtualmin on my VPS to manage my websites. It's working perfect and as expected nearly a year now. Recently I wanted to add some features to one of my sites, and I need git integration. I've correctly installed git & gitweb on my server, and I can create repositories and watch them under http://sub.domain.com/git/gitweb.cgi Here is the current relevant directory tree: /home/user/domains/sub.domain.com/public_html/git/ drwxr-sr-x user user . drwxr-x--- user user .. -rw-r--r-- user user git-favicon.png -rw-r--r-- user user git-logo.png -rwxr-xr-x user user gitweb.cgi -rw-r--r-- user user gitweb.css drwxrwx--- apache user reponame.git /home/user/domains/sub.domain.com/public_html/git/reponame.git/ drwxrwx--- apache user . drwxr-sr-x user user .. drwxrwx--- apache user branches -rwxrwx--- apache user config -rwxrwx--- user user description -rwxrwx--- apache user HEAD drwxrwx--- apache user hooks drwxrwx--- apache user info drwxrwx--- apache user objects drwxrwx--- apache user refs But I have some questions: When I'm visiting http://sub.domain.com/git/gitweb.cgi, the owner is listed as 'Apache'. why? how can I change that? Usually, to create a new git repository, I'll do something like: $ mkdir proj $ cd proj $ git init Initialized empty Git repository in /home/user/proj/.git/ // here I'm creating the files or copy them from somewhere else $ git add *.php $ git add README $ git commit -m 'initial version' But after creating the repository in virtualmin, I can find a new dir named 'reponame.git' but not the '.git' dir. When I'm trying to run any git command (e.g. git status) I'm receiving "fatal: This operation must be run in a work tree". How can I work with that repository? Currently I need to explicitly grant access for users to be able to view the repositories via gitweb. How can I make certain repositories public?

  • Why can't I use SSL certs imported via Server Admin in a custom Apache install?

    - by morgant
I've got a couple of Mac OS X 10.6.8 Server web servers that run a custom AMP255 (Apache 2.x, MySQL 5.x, and PHP 5.x) stack installed using MacPorts. We've got a lot of Mac OS X Server servers and generally install SSL certs via Server Admin and they "just work" in the built-in services, however, these web servers have always had SSL certs installed in a non-standard location and used only for Apache. Long story short, we're trying to standardize this part of our administration and install certs via Server Admin, but have run into the following issue: when the certs are installed via Server Admin and referenced in our Apache conf files, Apache then prompts for a password upon trying to start. It does not seem to be any password we know, certainly not the admin or keychain passwords! We've added the _www user to the certusers (mainly just to ensure they have the proper access to the private key in /etc/certificates/). So, with the custom installed certs we have the following files (basically just pasted in from the company we purchase our certs from): -rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 1395 Apr 10 11:22 *.domain.tld.ca -rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 1656 Apr 10 11:21 *.domain.tld.cert -rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 1680 Apr 10 11:22 *.domain.tld.key And the following in the VirtualHost in /opt/local/apache2/conf/extra/httpd-ssl.conf: SSLCertificateFile /path/to/certs/*.domain.tld.cert SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/to/certs/*.domain.tld.key SSLCACertificateFile /path/to/certs/*.domain.tld.ca This setup functions normally. If we use the certs installed via Server Admin, which both Server Admin & Keychain Assistant show as valid, they're installed in /etc/certificates/ as follows: -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1655 Apr 9 13:44 *.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.cert.pem -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 4266 Apr 9 13:44 *.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.chain.pem -rw-r----- 1 root certusers 3406 Apr 9 13:44 *.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.concat.pem -rw-r----- 1 root certusers 1751 Apr 9 13:44 *.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.key.pem And if we replace the aforementioned lines in our httpd-ssl.conf with the following: SSLCertificateFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.cert.pem SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.key.pem SSLCertificateChainFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.chain.pem This prompts for the unknown password. I have also tried httpd-ssl.conf configured as follows: SSLCertificateFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.cert.pem SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.key.pem SSLCertificateChainFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.concat.pem And as: SSLCertificateFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.cert.pem SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.key.pem SSLCACertificateFile /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.chain.pem We've verified that the certificate is configured to allow all applications access it (in Keychain Assistant). A diff of the /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.key.pem & *.domain.tld.key files shows the former is encrypted and the latter is not, so we're assuming that Server Admin/Keychain Assistant is encrypting them for some reason. I know I can create an unencrypted key file as follows: sudo openssl rsa -in /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.key.pem -out /etc/certificates/*.domain.tld.SOMELONGHASH.key.no_password.pem But, I can't do that without entering the password. I thought maybe I could export an unencrypted copy of the key from Keychain Admin, but I'm not seeing such an option (not to mention that the .pem options are greyed out in all export options). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Where is org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory for tomcat?

    - by Omnifarious
On this page: http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/jndi-resources-howto.html it describes how to set up a JNDI name for a DataSource resource. It tells you that Tomcat's standard data source factory is org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory, but I've searched every single jar file on my system after installing Tomcat on Fedora 17 and I cannot find one that contains this class. Where is it?

  • Using IIS7 as a reverse proxy

    - by Eric Petroelje
I'm setting up a server at home to host a few small websites. One of them is .NET based and needs IIS, the others are PHP based and need Apache. So, I have both IIS 7 and Apache 2.2.x installed on my server with IIS on port 80 and Apache running on port 8080. I would like to set up IIS to work as a reverse proxy, forwarding the requests for the Apache sites to port 8080 and serving the requests for the .NET site itself based on the host headers. Like this: www.mydotnetsite.com/* -> IIS -> serve from IIS www.myapachesite.com/* -> IIS -> forward to apache on port 8080 www.myothersite.com/* -> IIS -> forward to apache on port 8080 I did a bit of googling and it seemed like the Application Request Routing feature would do what I needed, but I can't seem to get it to work the way I want it to. I can get it to forward ALL traffic to the Apache server and I can get it to forward traffic with a specific URL pattern to the Apache server, but I can't seem to get it to forward based on the host headers (e.g. "forward all requests for www.apachesite.com - localhost:8080") So the question is, how would I go about configuring ARR to do this? Or do I need a different tool? I'm also open to using Apache as the reverse proxy and forwarding the .NET site requests to IIS instead if that's easier (running Apache on port 80 and IIS on 8080).

  • SVN : how to change hostname?

    - by elon
I'd like to sep up SVN repo on local machine. But we already have apache running under localhost. When I use instalator form subversion site with apache option it installs another apache and when I type "localhost" in browser I see this new apache (not the old one). Question is how to run this new apache under other host name. When installing it asks about it, so I set different name, but it still works under localhost (nothing happens). I'd like to have access to svn via URL e.g. "svnrepo" not "localhost". What can I do about it? Which lines of config should be changed (and/or what's more should be changed?) Another way I'm thinking of to solve this problem is to integrate this svn-apache module with mine apache. But still I don't really know how to do it (my apache is 2.2.6)

    - by Koning Baard XIV
For ultimate speed, I want my Apache server strip unneeded headers from the response. Currently, the headers looks like this (excluding the status header): Connection:Keep-Alive Content-Length:200 Content-Type:text/html Date:Sat, 15 May 2010 16:28:37 GMT Keep-Alive:timeout=5, max=100 Server:Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8l DAV/2 PHP/5.3.1 Phusion_Passenger/2.2.7 X-Powered-By:PHP/5.3.1 Which I want to be like: Connection:Keep-Alive Content-Type:text/html Keep-Alive:timeout=5, max=100 How can I configure this in a .htaccess file? Thanks

Last friday we installed some windows updates. After the reboot tomcat doesnt start with error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap We reduced the parameter -Xmx1024m to -Xmx768m and now tomcat starts. But we need greater max heap size What happened to our servers ? Thanks in advance.

  • How to fix SCRIPT_NAME with PHP-FPM and Apache's mod_fastcgi?

    - by Kyle MacFarlane
I have the following in my Apache conf to get PHP-FPM working: FastCgiExternalServer /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler -host 127.0.0.1:9000 AddHandler php-fastcgi .php AddType text/html .php Action php-fastcgi /var/www/cgi-bin Alias /var/www/cgi-bin /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler DirectoryIndex index.php This works fine except that SCRIPT_NAME is always /var/www/cgi-bin and some scripts use SCRIPT_NAME to work out the location of the current script (vBulletin). Google has plenty of solutions for Nginx but not a word for Apache.

  • How to ensure precedence of files over directories with Apache?

    - by janeden
    My httpd.conf uses the MultiViews option to serve HTML files for URLs like http://server/blog. This works fine, unless there are directories with the same name – Apache will then try to serve the directory. Is there any way to ensure precedence of blog.html over blog/, or rather: can I make Apache process content negotiation according to MultiView although a matching entity (the directory) is present? In nginx, I can do this explicitly: try_files $uri $uri.html $uri/ =404;

  • Why does an update from Apache 2.2 to 2.4 delete all configs?

    - by Panique
When updating apache 2.2 to apache 2.4 (for example with this package https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/apache2) all the configs are deleted. The normally used /etc/apache2/sites-available/default is now completely deleted, the "new" default file (000-default) has a totally different structure, so it's not even possible to recover by doing copy & paste work. Why does this happen and how to prevent this ?

  • How to link specific ports to specific domains with Apache virtual hosts?

    - by theJoe
We have a forward-facing linux box running Apache HTTP server that is acting as a reverse proxy for several back-end servers. The servers are accessed through specific domain names and ports and are set up as virtual hosts within Apache as such: Listen 8001 Listen 8002 <Virtualhost *:8001> ServerName service.one.mycompany.com ProxyPass / http://internal.one.mycompany.com:8001/ ProxyPassReverse / http://internal.one.mycompany.com:8001/ RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^(TRACE|TRACK) RewriteRule .* - [F] </Virtualhost> <Virtualhost *:8002> ServerName service.two.mycompany.com ProxyPass / http://internal.two.mycompany.com:8002/ ProxyPassReverse / http://internal.two.mycompany.com:8002/ RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^(TRACE|TRACK) RewriteRule .* - [F] </Virtualhost> The proxy server has only one IP address, and both domains are pointing to it. Accessing internal.one via service.one works fine, as does accessing internal.two via service.two. Now the problem is that Apache does not take the requesting domain into account when accessing the virtual hosts. What I mean is that both domains work for both ports: requests for service.one:8002 proxies to internal.two:8002, and requests for service.two:8001 proxies to internal.one:8001, where ideally both these requests should be denied. I can get around this by creating more virtual hosts that explicitly deny these requests: NameVirtualHost *:8001 NameVirtualHost *:8002 <Virtualhost *:8001> ServerName service.two.mycompany.com Redirect permanent / http://errorpage.mycompany.com/ </Virtualhost> <Virtualhost *:8002> ServerName service.one.mycompany.com Redirect permanent / http://errorpage.mycompany.com/ </Virtualhost> But this is not an ideal solution, since we plan to add more services to the proxy, and each new port would need to be explicitly denied on all the other domains, and each new domain would need to be explicitly denied on all ports it is not utilizing. As we add more services, the number of virtual hosts can get out of hand quickly. My question, then, is whether there is a better way? Can we explicitly tie specific ports to specific domains in a virtual host so that only that domain-port combination is processed, and all other combinations are not? Things I’ve tried: Adding NameVirtualHost *:8001, etc. without the additional virtual hosts. Setting ProxyRequests On and Off, as well as ProxyPreserveHost On and Off Adding the server name or IP address to the virtual host header, e.g. <VirtualHost service.one.mycompany.com:8001> Using the <proxy> directive inside the virtual host directive. Lots and lots of googling. The proxy server is running CentOS 6.2 64-bit, Apache HTTPD server 2.2.15. As mentioned, the proxy server has only one IP address, and all the domains we are using are pointing to it.

  • Other processes take over port 80 when restarting Apache - why, and how to solve?

    - by user72149
I have a CentOS 5.5 server running Apache on port 80 as well as some other applications. All works fine until I for some reason need to restart the httpd process. Doing so returns: sudo /etc/init.d/httpd restart Stopping httpd: [ OK ] Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs First I thought perhaps httpd had frozen and was still running, but that was not the case. So I ran netstat to find out what was using port 80: sudo netstat -tlp Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 *:7203 *:* LISTEN 24012/java tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:smux *:* LISTEN 3547/snmpd tcp 0 0 *:mysql *:* LISTEN 21966/mysqld tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 3562/sshd tcp 0 0 *:http *:* LISTEN 3780/python26 Turns out that my python process had taken over listening to http in the instant that httpd was restarting. So, I killed python and tried starting httpd again - but ran into the same error. Netstat again: sudo netstat -tlp Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 *:7203 *:* LISTEN 24012/java tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:smux *:* LISTEN 3547/snmpd tcp 0 0 *:mysql *:* LISTEN 21966/mysqld tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 3562/sshd tcp 0 0 *:http *:* LISTEN 24012/java Now my java process had taken over listening to http. I killed that too and could then successfully restart httpd. But this is a terrible workaround. Why will these python and java processes start listening to port 80 as soon as httpd is restarted? How to solve? Two other comments. 1) Both java and python processes are started by apache from a php script. But when apache is restarted, they should not be affected. And 2) I have the same setup on two other machines running Ubuntu and there's no problem there. Any ideas? Edit: The Java process listens to port 7203 and the python process supposedly doesn't listen to any port. For some reason, they start listening to port 80 when apache is restarted. This hasn't happened before. On Ubuntu it runs fine. For some reason, on my current CentOS 5.5 machine, this problem arises.

  • Is there a way to get Apache to blank sensitive data from logs?

    - by i..
We're trying to clean up one of our systems as much as possible & have found that despite our attempts to block, users are accessing a certain part of our system through a HTTP GET with their password in the URL. This results in our Apache logs recording their password in plain text on the server. Is there an Apache directive or module that can filter out (or replace) certain patterns in its logs?

  • Other than using `split`, is there a way around the Apache 2.0 maximum file size limit of 2GB?

    - by warren
I have some ISOs that need to be available across a WAN, so we are using an http server to host them (allows for non-authenticated, read-only access (beyond being on the VPN) to the data store). The server the ISOs reside on is running CentOS 4, and Apache 2.0.58. Is there a way around the 2GB filesize limit with Apache 2.0 without using the split utility to chunk the ISOs down to a less-than-2GB size?

  • How to run Spring 3.0 PetClinic in tomcat with Hibernate backed JPA

    - by Zwei Steinen
OK, this probably is supposed to be the easiest thing in the world, but I've been trying for the entire day, and it's still not working.. Any help is highly appreciated! What I did: Downloaded Tomcat 6.0.26 & Spring 3.0.1 Downloaded PetClinic from https://src.springframework.org/svn/spring-samples/petclinic Built & deployed petclinic.war. Ran fine with default TopLink persistence. Edited webapps/WEB-INF/spring/applicationContext-jpa.xml and changed jpaVendorAdaptor from TopLink to Hibernate. Edited webapps/WEB-INF/web.xml and changed context-param from applicationContext-jdbc.xml to applicationContext-jpa.xml Copied everything in the Spring 3.0.1 distribution to TOMCAT_HOME/lib. Launched tomcat. Saw Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: ClassLoader [org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader] does NOT provide an 'addTransformer(ClassFileTransformer)' method. Specify a custom LoadTimeWeaver or start your Java virtual machine with Spring's agent: -javaagent:spring-agent.jar Uncommented line <Loader loaderClass="org.springframework.instrument.classloading.tomcat.TomcatInstrumentableClassLoader"/> in webapps/META-INF/context.xml. Same error. Added that line to TOMCAT_HOME/context.xml Deployed without error. • Solr WordDelimiterFilter + Lucene Highlighter

    - by Lucas
    I am trying to get the Highlighter class from Lucene to work properly with tokens coming from Solr's WordDelimiterFilter. It works 90% of the time, but if the matching text contains a ',' such as "1,500" the output is incorrect: Expected: 'test 1,500 this' Observed: 'test 11,500 this' I am not currently sure whether it is Highlighter messing up the recombination or WordDelimiterFilter messing up the tokenization but something is unhappy. Here are the relevant dependencies from my pom: org.apache.lucene lucene-core 2.9.3 jar compile org.apache.lucene lucene-highlighter 2.9.3 jar compile org.apache.solr solr-core 1.4.0 jar compile And here is a simple JUnit test class demonstrating the problem: package test.lucene; import static org.junit.Assert.assertEquals; import static org.junit.Assert.assertTrue; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.Reader; import java.util.HashMap; import org.apache.lucene.analysis.Analyzer; import org.apache.lucene.analysis.TokenStream; import org.apache.lucene.queryParser.ParseException; import org.apache.lucene.queryParser.QueryParser; import org.apache.lucene.search.Query; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.Highlighter; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.InvalidTokenOffsetsException; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.QueryScorer; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.SimpleFragmenter; import org.apache.lucene.search.highlight.SimpleHTMLFormatter; import org.apache.lucene.util.Version; import org.apache.solr.analysis.StandardTokenizerFactory; import org.apache.solr.analysis.WordDelimiterFilterFactory; import org.junit.Test; public class HighlighterTester { private static final String PRE_TAG = "<b>"; private static final String POST_TAG = "</b>"; private static String[] highlightField( Query query, String fieldName, String text ) throws IOException, InvalidTokenOffsetsException { SimpleHTMLFormatter formatter = new SimpleHTMLFormatter( PRE_TAG, POST_TAG ); Highlighter highlighter = new Highlighter( formatter, new QueryScorer( query, fieldName ) ); highlighter.setTextFragmenter( new SimpleFragmenter( Integer.MAX_VALUE ) ); return highlighter.getBestFragments( getAnalyzer(), fieldName, text, 10 ); } private static Analyzer getAnalyzer() { return new Analyzer() { @Override public TokenStream tokenStream( String fieldName, Reader reader ) { // Start with a StandardTokenizer TokenStream stream = new StandardTokenizerFactory().create( reader ); // Chain on a WordDelimiterFilter WordDelimiterFilterFactory wordDelimiterFilterFactory = new WordDelimiterFilterFactory(); HashMap<String, String> arguments = new HashMap<String, String>(); arguments.put( "generateWordParts", "1" ); arguments.put( "generateNumberParts", "1" ); arguments.put( "catenateWords", "1" ); arguments.put( "catenateNumbers", "1" ); arguments.put( "catenateAll", "0" ); wordDelimiterFilterFactory.init( arguments ); return wordDelimiterFilterFactory.create( stream ); } }; } @Test public void TestHighlighter() throws ParseException, IOException, InvalidTokenOffsetsException { String fieldName = "text"; String text = "test 1,500 this"; String queryString = "1500"; String expected = "test " + PRE_TAG + "1,500" + POST_TAG + " this"; QueryParser parser = new QueryParser( Version.LUCENE_29, fieldName, getAnalyzer() ); Query q = parser.parse( queryString ); String[] observed = highlightField( q, fieldName, text ); for ( int i = 0; i < observed.length; i++ ) { System.out.println( "\t" + i + ": '" + observed[i] + "'" ); } if ( observed.length > 0 ) { System.out.println( "Expected: '" + expected + "'\n" + "Observed: '" + observed[0] + "'" ); assertEquals( expected, observed[0] ); } else { assertTrue( "No matches found", false ); } } } Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

  • Nightmare: Upgrading Tomcat 5.5 to 6.0

    - by pavanlimo
I'm trying to upgrade a perfectly running embedded Tomcat 5.5 to Tomcat 6.0. I understand that all I need to do is replace Tomcat 5.5 jars with 6.0. That's what I did. So I replaced the following jars: catalina-5.0.28.jar catalina-5.5.9.jar catalina-optional-5.5.9.jar commons-el.jar commons-modeler-1.1.0.jar jasper-compiler-jdt.jar jasper-compiler.jar jasper-runtime.jar jmx-5.0.28.jar jsp-api-2.0.jar naming-factory.jar naming-resources.jar servlet-api-2.4.jar servlets-default.jar tomcat-coyote.jar tomcat-http.jar tomcat-util.jar with: annotations-api.jar catalina.jar jasper.jar tomcat-dbcp.jar catalina-ant.jar el-api.jar jsp-api.jar tomcat-i18n-es.jar catalina-ha.jar jasper-el.jar servlet-api.jar tomcat-i18n-fr.jar catalina-tribes.jar jasper-jdt.jar tomcat-coyote.jar tomcat-i18n-ja.jar tomcat-juli.jar As soon as I start the server, I get the following message in the logs at INFO level: INFO: Starting Servlet Engine: Apache Tomcat/6.0.29 Dec 31, 2010 6:04:18 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile INFO: validateJarFile(/usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class Based on the this explanation, I need to remove a jar file which has a conflicting Servlet.class. I swear to God, there is no other conflicting jar file, I grepped system wide for Servlet.class, it matched only servlet-api.jar. I also downloaded javaee.jar and replaced it by servlet-api.jar, to same avail. Having tried lot of these stuff, I did not have much to look upto, so set the tomcat logging level to ALL. In the log I could see that it is trying to check for Servlet.class in each and every jar it is loading until it finds servlet-api.jar and throws "jar not loaded" message as soon as it finds servlet-api.jar. See below: FINE: Checking for javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappLoader setRepositories FINE: Deploy JAR /WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar to /usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader addJar FINE: addJar(/WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile FINE: Checking for javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile INFO: validateJarFile(/usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappLoader setRepositories Please note however, that Tomcat starts successfully! And as soon as I hit the URL on the browser, I get blank page(this may be in my case only, I guess 'cuz of my web.xml, sorta different from most. Other people on the internet have got Error 404 instead.) with following log statements(at finest level) Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter parseSessionCookiesId FINE: Requested cookie session id is 0FBA716E3F9B0147C3AF7ABAE3B1C27B Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase invoke FINE: Security checking request GET /login.jsp Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: No applicable constraint located Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase invoke FINE: Not subject to any constraint Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapper allocate FINEST: Returning non-STM instance I'm not sure if the above log message is important, but I'm for all-out disclosure here. One interesting thing though, I manually created a dummy jsp file containing only "helloooo" just outside WEB-INF folder(no security constraints for this file). This file was accessible and could be displayed. But, all my jsp's and classes are inside WEB-INF(ofcourse). Sick and tired of this issue, please help me solve it. I've already spent 20-24 hours on this unsuccessfully. Any pointers directions hints leads?

  • How to make local apache server public/visible ? [closed]

    - by George
Hello. I am running an Apache2 server on a Fedora 13. I'd like to make it publicly accessible(visible). For example I'd like when somebody types http://my.ip.numbes/ that they would see what I have in my document root folder. Just for a presentation of a course work at university. Permissions are set to 755. User owning the document root is apache. SELinux is temporarily disabled. But port 80 is closed. I tried to open it by adding an entry to iptables and restarting them, no change. I guess I am missing something big here. Help would be greatly appreciated.
