• E-Business Integration with SSO using AccessGate

  Moving away from the legacy Oracle SSO, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) came up with EBS AccessGate as the way forward to provide Single Sign On with Oracle Access Manager (OAM). As opposed to AccessGate in OAM terminology, EBS AccessGate has no specific connection with OAM with respect to configuration. Instead, EBS AccessGate uses the header variables sent from the SSO system to create the native user-session, like any other SSO enabled web application. E-Business Suite Integration with Oracle Access Manager It is a known fact that E-Business suite requires Oracle Internet Directory (OID) as the user repository to enable Single Sign On. This is due to the fact that E-Business Suite needs to be registered with OID to for Single Sign On. Additionally, E-Business Suite uses “orclguid” in OID to map the Single Sign On user with the corresponding local user profile. During authentication, EBS AccessGate expects SSO system to return orclguid and EBS username (stored as a user-attribute in SSO user store) in two header variables USER_ORCLGUID and USER_NAME respectively. Following diagram depicts the authentication flow once SSO system returns EBS Username and orclguid after successful authentication: Topic to brainstorm: EBS AccessGate as a generic SSO enablement solution for E-Business Suite AccessGate Even though EBS AccessGate is suggested as an integration approach between OAM and Oracle E-Business Suite, this section attempts to look at EBS AccessGate as a generic solution approach to provide SSO to Oracle E-Business Suite using any Web SSO solution. From the above points, the only dependency on the SSO system is that it should be able to return the corresponding orclguid from the OID which is configured with the E-Business Suite. This can be achieved by a variety of approaches: By using the same OID referred by E-Business Suite as the Single Sign On user store. If SSO System is using a different user store then: Use DIP or OIM to synch orclsguid from E-Business Suite OID to SSO user store Use OVD to provide an LDAP view where orclguid from E-Business Suite OID is part of the user entity in the user store referred by SSO System

• Cannot install mysql-server on ubuntu 11.10 by either synaptic or terminal

  I've been facing this problem with installing some other packages too. Inside terminal I type: sudo apt-get install mysql-server and I get the following: Reading package lists... • A WPF Image Button

  Instead of a normal button with words, sometimes you want a button that is just graphical. Yes, you can put an Image control in the Content of a normal Button control, but you still have the button outline, and trying to change the style can be rather difficult. Instead I like creating a user control that simulates a button, but just accepts an image. Figure 1 shows an example of three of these custom user controls to represent minimize, maximize and close buttons for a borderless window. Notice the highlighted image button has a gray rectangle around it. You will learn how to highlight using the VisualStateManager in this blog post.Figure 1: Creating a custom user control for things like image buttons gives you complete control over the look and feel.I would suggest you read my previous blog post on creating a custom Button user control as that is a good primer for what I am going to expand upon in this blog post. That is all that is needed to display the buttons shown in Figure 1. The definition for this user control is in a DLL named PDSA.WPF. The Style definitions for both the Border and the Image controls are contained in a resource dictionary names PDSAButtonStyles.xaml. Using a resource dictionary allows you to create a few different resource dictionaries, each with a different theme for the buttons.The Visual State ManagerTo display the highlight around the button as your mouse moves over the control, you will need to add a Visual State Manager group. Two different states are needed; MouseEnter and MouseLeave. In the MouseEnter you create a ColorAnimation to modify the BorderBrush color of the Border control. You specify the color to animate as “DarkGray”. You set the duration to less than a second. The TargetName of this storyboard is the name of the Border control “borMain” and since we are specifying a single color, you need to set the TargetProperty to “BorderBrush.Color”. You do not need any storyboard for the MouseLeave state. You will also want to respond to the Click event procedure in order to associate an action with clicking on this button. In this blog post I showed you how to create a custom user control and simulate a button using a Border and Image control. With just a little bit of code to respond to the MouseLeftButtonDown event on the border you can raise your own Click event. Dependency properties, such as ImageUri, allow you to set attributes on your custom user control. • How does the PPA fit into the scenario of publishing an application to the Ubuntu Software Center?

  I've been going through docs for the past couple of hours but I haven't understood what the PPA is? I have a cross-platform Java application that I'd like to publish to the Ubuntu Software Center. My application is open-source and I'm using Github. Apparently, publishing applications to the store isn't as simple as uploading a deb package - am I right? I need to create an account on Launchpad and put all my code there. I don't intend to move from Git to Bzr merely for the sake of publishing to the app store but luckily, one is able to set up source-code mirroring from Github to Launchpad. Since my application is still very premature, it'll have updates fairly often. When I build my application on my machine, do I simply go my Ubuntu App Developer page and upload the new DEB package or do they build my application from source? What exactly is the PPA for? I don't think I'll need too many of the Launchpad features so I'd like to stick to Github if possible. (Publishing for Ubuntu really isn't trivial. I can see why there are so many developers out there who haven't published their applications to the Ubuntu Software Center. Publishing an Android applications has been the easiest so far.)

  I am trying to connect to the MS SQL database using freetds and unixodbc. I have read various guides how to do it, but no one works fine for me. When I try to connect to the database using isql tool, I get the following error: $ isql -v TS username password [IM002][unixODBC][Driver Manager]Data source name not found, and no default driver specified [ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect Have anybody already successfully established the connection to the MS SQL database using freetds and unixodbc on Ubuntu 12.04? I would really appreciate some help. Below is the procedure I used to configure the freetds and unixodbc. Thanks for your help in advance! • Window borders missing - gtk-window-decorator segmentation fault

  I have been using Ubuntu for about 1 year now and I got a problem just two days ago. Suddenly I started experiencing a problem with the window borders (title bar with close, maximize, and minimize buttons). The problem : The window borders disappear I run "gtk-window-decorator --replace" For like 20 seconds everything is back to normal But it again returns to the problem. I searched over the Internet and found that my problem is similar to what is specified in this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/814091 This bug report says that the "fix released". I updated everything using the Update Manager, but still the problem remains. Can anyone let me know whether the problem is fixed? If yes, can you please let me know how to do it? I have already tried normal replace/reset commands like unity --reset unity --replace compiz --replace The "window borders" plugin is on in CCSM (CompizConfig Settings Manager) and it points to "gtk-window-decorator". I use Ubuntu 11.10 on an Intel Core2Duo T6500 with AMD Mobility Radeon HD 4300 graphics card. If you need more information, please let me know.

• Wacom Bamboo CTH460L issues

  I recently bought a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch CTH460L. I installed doctormo's PPA, however, the pen functionality didn't work and the touch was very glitchy (when I touched it, it immediately double clicked and began to drag elements in the screen). I tried to configure it using the wacom-utility package in the Synaptic Package Manager (version 1.21-1) but that didn't work either. Then I followed this post (#621, written by aaaalex), and after some problems trying to restart Ubuntu (graphics related problems), the pen works fine (it could be better, though) but the touch functionality doesn't work anymore. Currently I have installed xserver-xorg-input-wacom (1:0.10.11-0ubuntu7), wacom-dkms (0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1) and wacom-utility. The Wacom Utility only displays an "options" field under "Wacom BambooPT 2FG 4X5" but no other option to configure it. What is the correct way to get this tablet working on Ubuntu 10.04?. By the way, currently I can't start Ubuntu properly when the tablet is connected (in that case, Ubuntu start in low graphics mode). I need to connect it later. UPDATE: I uninstalled xserver -xorg-input-wacom, and wacom-utility because one of them prevented Ubuntu to start normally. I only re-installed wacom-dkms 0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1. The pen is working but no touch functionality. The side buttons don't work either. Thanks in advance.

  Direct Question: I want to enable Perl to send emails. What package(s) should I install to setup a simplistic email server: no need for incoming, only outgoing. I can forward through gmail's SMTP if that's best? Background: I am programmer with a nightly build script written in Perl. I would like to email myself the results of my nightly builds (especially if there's an error). I've read about the perl package Mail::Sendmail briefly, but if something else is more appropriate, please tell me!! I tried the simple aptget install sendmail, but that doesn't seem to work. I get the following errors: Server said: 421 4.3.0 collect: Cannot write ./dfp1PFXl7W020719 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=120): No such file or directory message transmission error (421 4.3.0 collect: Cannot write ./dfp1PFXl7W020719 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=120): No such file or directory ) Server said: 421 4.3.0 collect: Cannot write ./dfp1PFXl7W020719 (bfcommit, uid=0, gid=120): No such file or directory I've googled this problem a bit and tried a few things -- adding my username to /etc/mail/trusted-users and such, but to no avail. In other words, I would be most grateful if you could provide simple instructions for setting up an outgoing mail server. I really don't understand the specifics, but as I understand, I need to forward the mail through an existing SMTP server -- so I can use my gmail account if need be (that's where I want to send the logs anyway). Any suggestions would be most greatly appreciated.

• Building gstreamer_ndk_bundle problems

  I'm trying to build gstreamer_ndk_bundle under Ubuntu 12.4 and I'm failing miserably! I have installed all "glib-dev" packages (packages that in their name have glib and dev), and also I have tried to compile/install glib 2.33.1 (latest) from source, but I always get this error: /home/marko/gstreamer_ndk_bundle/jni/../glib/gobject/gmarshal.c:149: undefined reference to `g_value_get_schar' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [/home/marko/gstreamer_ndk_bundle/obj/local/armeabi/libgobject-2.0.so] Error 1 This means that glib source doesn't have the definition for g_value_get_schar, and since that function was introduced in glib somewhere after version 2.30.0, my guess is that I am not using proper glib! I tried to force gstremaer_ndk_bundle to build with sources from the folder /home/marko/glib-2.33.1/ which I compiled/installed by exporting these env vars: GLIB_GENMARSHAL=/home/marko/glib-2.33.1/gobject/glib-genmarshal GLIB_COMPILE_SCHEMAS=/home/marko/glib-2.33.1/gio/glib-compile-schemas Also I changed gmarshal.h so it includes gmarshal.h from the installed glib folder: #ifndef _marko_glib_loaded #define _marko_glib_loaded #include "/home/marko/glib-2.33.1/gobject/gmarshal.h" #endif But failed in both cases. How can I know what glib is used while compiling gstreamer and install the proper one? How can I force gstreamer_ndk_bundle to use glib sources from the folder I have un-tared/configured/installed and not the system ones, or whatever ones it uses? I read somewhere that I need gstreamer-devel package if I keep getting this error while compiling. Where can I find that package?! Can't Google it out... Has anyone EVER built gstreamer_ndk_bundle and lived to tell the tale?

• Help, broken Gsettings

  I was trying to disable the global menu as per http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2013/07/disable-global-menu-on-ubuntu-13-10-saucy/#comment-8612, but while it didn't change anything, after running the autoremove command unity-tweak-tool broke. Obviously my first reaction was to re-install the removed package but it remains broken. TBH I don't know if it is even related or just a coincidence. When I start it from the launcher it just blinks and disappear. When I start it from terminal I get this error: $ gnome-tweak-tool WARNING : Shell not installed or running WARNING : Error detecting shell Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtweak/tweaks/tweak_shell_extensions.py", line 199, in __init__ raise Exception("Shell not running or DBus service not available") Exception: Shell not running or DBus service not available INFO : GSettings missing key org.gnome.nautilus.desktop (key computer-icon-visible) WARNING : Shell not running None INFO : GSettings missing key org.gnome.mutter (key workspaces-only-on-primary) Segmentation fault (core dumped) I had a look with dconf-editor if I could just add the missing key, but apparently keys aren't meant to be added "by hand". So how can I fix this? I'd rather prefer not having to reinstall everything. Which package is broken, can I just reinstall that? EDIT: I found by being root gnome-tweak-tool no longer crashed so possibly a permission issue somewhere. I don't know that I changed any permissions. Another related problem, actually the reason I noticed the problem at all, is that unity-tweak-tool seem no longer to want to save the values edited. I normally just have the Unity launcher on the primary display but wanted to check what it was like having it on both. I didn't like it so I went into unity-tweak-tool to set it back - but regardless how many time I tick "only primary display" it never changes anything. What does the Unity-tweak-tool actually change and can I do this directly somehow?

  Hi I was trying to run Windows XP under Virtual Box (host system Ubuntu 10.04) and I've got an error message saying: Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908) The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Re-setup the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root. Users of Ubuntu, Fedora or Mandriva should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary. This is terminal output: maria@maria-laptop:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup * Stopping VirtualBox kernel modules * done. * Uninstalling old VirtualBox DKMS kernel modules * done. * Trying to register the VirtualBox kernel modules using DKMS * Failed, trying without DKMS * Recompiling VirtualBox kernel modules * done. * Starting VirtualBox kernel modules * done. After that I can run XP on Virtual Box, but when I try to log into user's account, I have the message that I have to register XP (I haven't done it yet, as each time I was cliking on pop-up window suggesting registration, nothing was happening). • Free Updates and Errata for Oracle Linux

  ISO images of the Oracle Linux installation media as well as individual binary RPMs (and the sources) of major and minor releases (Updates) have always been freely available for download, use and distribution, ever since we started the Oracle Linux support program. We're now taking this a step further: in addition to the above, we will now also provide updated packages or errata for free from separate yum repositories on http://public-yum.oracle.com. If you would like to keep your Oracle Linux system up to date, you can now do so by subscribing your system to the respective "_latest" repository for your distribution, e.g. "ol6_latest" for Oracle Linux 6. See the installation instructions on the public yum front page for details on how enable these repositories. If you would like to also receive free updates to the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 2, make sure to enable the "[ol6_UEK_latest]" repository as well - updates to the kernel will be made available from this separate channel until it is included in the next set of installation media. Now what does this mean for Oracle Network Support? Getting access to the updates and errata was just one part of the offering – the following benefits will still only be available with an Oracle Linux Support Subscription only: Full indemnification against intellectual property claims. • ghc6 install trouble: hGetContents: invalid argument (invalid UTF-8 byte sequence)

  Having trouble installing ghc6. Here's what seems to be the relevant error that comes up when I try to (apt-get|aptitude) install ghc6: A package failed to install. Trying to recover: Setting up ghc6 (6.12.1-13ubuntu1) ... ghc-pkg: /home/opm/.ghc/i386-linux-6.12.1/package.conf.d/unix-compat-0.2-edefa7bced91ebe610d455bab466e200.conf: hGetContents: invalid argument (invalid UTF-8 byte sequence) (Here's the full output, if you're interested: http://paste.ubuntu.com/566475/ ) This still happens after apt-get clean and apt-get update. My searching around has not really helped me understand what's going on, except that it might be caused by a mismatch in locale. • How to create a PPA for C++ program?

  My questions are: c++/gtkmm project created with NetBeans. How to make package to PPA from this? I have created target files structure (*.desktop, iconfile, ui glade files). Binary goes to /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/myagenda/bin/myagenda. There is also a folder of glade files, that must go to /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/myagenda/bin/myagenda/ui. • ubuntu 12.04 not responding after software update

  Yesterday, I did a software update and since then the system became unusable. To be more precise, I login and then I see only the background image without any bars, images etc.. This happened after updating the system. Please find here the relevant part /var/log/apt/history.log. I'm running 64 bit 12.04 distribution on nVidia. The 2-3 first restarts after the upgrade it was complaining about compiz/unity crashes and then the situation is as described above. I would be the most grateful of you could help me on this.
