  • Ho to add dynamic table list to a Fullcalendar page

    I have implemented a Fullcalendar on a RoR page. I would like to add a list (index) below the calendar showing events for the day the user selects. Click on a day and that days events list below the calendar. I'd like it to be dynamic (don't reload the whole page). Please point me in the right direction to learn how to do this. I have a subscription to Railscast. But, I'm not sure what to look for. Thanks

    I'm getting an error when I run the Spree sample data. It occurs when Spree tries to load in the product data, specifically the product images.     So I'm trying to setup scaffolding to use radio buttons for the format button. It definitely works to add a new and edit.     I am consuming various XML-over-HTTP web services returning large XML files ( 2MB). What would be the fastest ruby http library to reduce the 'downloading' time? Required features: both GET and POST requests gzip/deflate downloads (Accept-Encoding: deflate, gzip) - very important I am thinking between: open-uri Net::HTTP curb but you can also come with other suggestions. P.S. To parse the response, I am using a pull parser from Nokogiri, so I don't need an integrated solution like rest-client or hpricot.

  • Heroku deployment: connection refused

    I have suddenly run into an issue deploying to Heroku. I created a new app, went to push and now see: ssh: connect to host heroku.com port 22: Connection refused My other previously working Heroku apps no longer work, receiving the same error. Other Heroku commands work (create, info, db:push). I can SSH to other services, so it doesn't look like it's my machine. Any ideas?

    I am successfully using RJS to implement AJAX on a page.replace.html create.js.rjs. I am attempting to update two locations instead of one and after watching Ryan Bates Railscast I am very close (I think) but have a problem in the syntax of my /views/likes/create.js.rjs file. Here is the situation: located at /views/likes/create.js.rjs is the following code: page.replace_html "votes_#{ @site.id }", :partial => @like page.replace_html "counter", 10 - (@question.likes.count :conditions => {:user_id => current_user.id}) page[@like].visual_effect :highlight My problem lies in the second line. The div "counter" displays the following code in the /views/question/show.html.erb page: <div id="counter"> You have <%= 10 - (@question.likes.count :conditions => {:user_id => current_user.id}) %> votes remaining for this question </div> From watching the screen cast I believe that my error has to do w/ the syntax of the second line. Specifically he mentions that you cannot use a local instance variable but not sure how to make the change. Thoughts?

    Hey guys here is my code (roughly): books.html.erb <% @books.each do |book| %> <% @bookid = book.id %> <div id="enter_stuff"> <%= render "input", :bookid => @bookid %> </div> <%end%> _input.html.erb <% @book = Book.find_by_id(@bookid) %> <strong>your book is: <%=h @book.name %></strong> create.rjs page.replace_html :enter_stuff, :partial => 'input', :object => @bookid The problem here is that only create.js doesn't seem to work (though, if instead of passing the partial I passed "..." it does work, so I know its that there are instance variables in the partial that aren't being reset. Any ideas?) So the final question, is how do I pass an instance variable to a partial through the create.rjs file? p.s. I know I will have duplicate div IDs, I'm not worrying about that for now though. Best, Elliot

    I am implementing a simple RoR webpage that collect emails from visitors and store them as objects. I'm using it as a mini-project to try RoR and BDD. I can think of 3 features for Cucumber: 1. User submits a valid email address 2. User submits an existing email address 3. User submits an invalid email My question is, for scenarios 2 and 3, is it better to handle this via the controller? or as methods in a class? Perhaps something that throws errors if an instance is instantiated in sceanrio 2 or 3? Implementation is below, love to hear some code reviews in addition to answers to questions above. Thanks!   • Trying to set the message-id, in-reply-to, etc... in ActionMailer

    I'm working on an app that needs to be able to send out email updates and then route the reply back to the original item. All emails will come to a single address (this can't change unfortunately), and I need to be able to determine where they go. My initial thought was setting the message-id for the item so that it comes back as a References header. any ideas on how to accomplish this with ActionMailer?

    Hi! I'd like to spec the fact that my application layout view prints out flash notices. However the following code does not run, the flash method does not exist in view specs (as opposed to controller specs where it works perfectly): describe 'layouts/application' do it "renders flash notices" do flash[:notice] = "This is a notice!" render response.should contain "This is a notice!" end end Is my code wrong or is it a "not-yet-implemented feature" in Rspec 2?     I have a model User that has_one user_profile and a User_Profile belongs_to user in the User controller I have: def personal @user = User.find_by_id(params[:id]) @user_profile = @user.user_profile @user_profile ||= @user.build_user_profile end def update_personal @user = User.find_by_id(params[:id]) if @user.user_profile.update_attributes(params[:user_profile]) flash[:notice] = "OK" redirect_to @user else flash[:notice] = "Fail" render :action => 'update_personal' end end In my personal.html.erb view I have: <% semantic_form_for @user_profile, :url => { :action => "update_personal"} do |form| %> <%= form.inputs %> <%= form.buttons %> <%end%> And on the rountes I have: map.resources :users, :member => { :personal => :get, :update_personal => :put } Now the strange thing is that I can do: users/1/personal to see the form but when I submit I get this error: Unknown action No action responded to 1. It's trying to find an action with the name 1. Can anyone point me out on the right direction?
