    I know there's a lot of questions on SO similar to this, but I couldn't find one for this particular issue. A couple of points, first: I have no control over our Sharepoint server. I cannot tweak any IIS settings. I believe our IIS server version is IIS 7.0. Our Sharepoint Server is anticipating requests via NTLM. Our Sharepoint Server is on the same domain as my client computer. I am using .NET Framework 3.5, Visual Studio 2008 I am trying to write a simple console app to manipulate Sharepoint data using Sharepoint Web Services. I've tried various bindings and various code tweaks to try to authenticate properly, but to no avail. I'll list those below. I've tried the following steps: Using a native Win32 Impersonator before creating the client using (new Impersonator.Impersonator("username", "password", "domain")) using (var client = new ListsSoapClient()) { client.ClientCredentials.Windows.ClientCredential = new NetworkCredential("dpincas", "password", "domain"); client.GetListCollection(); } This produced the same error message. Setting TokenImpersonationLevel for my client credentials using (var client = new ListsSoapClient()) { client.ClientCredentials.Windows.AllowedImpersonationLevel = TokenImpersonationLevel.Impersonation; client.GetListCollection(); } This produced the same error message. Using security mode=TransportCredentialOnly <security mode="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Ntlm" /> </security> This resulted in a different error message: The provided URI scheme 'https' is invalid; expected 'http'. Parameter name: via However, I need to use https, so I cannot change my URI scheme. I've tried some other combinations that I can't remember, but I'll post them when I do. I'm really at wits end here. I see a lot of links on Google that say "switch to Kerberos", but my server seems to only be accepting NTLM, not "Negotiate" (as it would say if it was looking for Kerberos), so that is unfortunately not an option.     Hi, I have an RMI client/server set-up on two machines that works fine in a simple situation when the server doesn't require a client-side defned class. However, when I need to use a class defined on the client side I am unable to have the server unmarshall those classes. I suspect this is an issue with my java.rmi.server.codebase property that I pass in as argument to the client app. I followed Sun's RMI Tutorial trail and I think I have followed the steps exactly except that I don't specify a classpath argument when executing client and server because they execute in the directory right above the root package directory (however I tried that too with no effect). Other notes: 1 my server and client policy files correctly specify the path, as I've tested this setup with good and bad paths, and getting a security exception for bad path 2 this setup works if I don't use client-side defined objects, the client connects correctly to the server and the server executes. 3 when I place the client-side class on the server in the server's classpath, all executes fine. When thrown nothing is painted. Another interesting thing is the timing of the throwing. I am unable to find any logical patern, as sometimes it is thrown as soon as I initiate the class and sometimes it needs more then five minutes. In addition to this, as far as I tested there is no single action that calls repaint() that triggers it or rather all do. I am new to Java and all the other exceptions had the class and row number of where they were thrown so I don't know what to do here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.     I am getting the below error from VS on an 32-bit XP Professional server even though I set Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to "SIDEKICK", which is the name of my computer. In other words SIDEKICK should default to the full SQLSERVER. In other words, I want VS to use SQLSERVER instead of SQLSERVER EXPRESS. And I can clearly see my database both from VS in the Server Explorer and also in SSMS 2008. Furthermore, I can view the tables of this database in Server Explorer from VS. I do not get any build errors. And it looks like all of the naming is consistent in my web.config file. I am developing my website according to a Microsoft tutorial, so I should not be getting an error.     have read quite a lot about this error, the reason is 1) more than one jar containing this class have been include into the classpath, 2)include the jar twice or more, but in my case, this class     I just got a second hand Dell Poweredge 2650 and its working fine. I can access the embedded remote access controller via the Racadm.exe tool (Under wine) but the web based version of it (Which I would prefer to use) has an SSL certificate error. I select continue I know there are risks ect and java starts up.     If a wireless modem router has the option Allow multicast from Broadband Network, what does this mean exactly? What risks are there to leaving it enabled and why would you have it enabled? I understand that a broadcast is sending a packet to every device on the network and a multicast is send a packet to a specified set of addresses. A multicast packet can cross routers whereas a broadcast cannot although I don't quite understand how these "set of addresses are specified"

    I'm writing a specialised database. It currently sits atop of ext4, with one big file that it reads and writes to. I'm wondering whether it would be worth forgoing the filesystem and reading and writing directly to the device. I already use O_DIRECT, so as far as I can tell it wouldn't require much of a code change. What might the risks, advantages and disadvantages of forgoing the filesystem be? Is it likely to improve performance, or harm it?

    I don't think I properly understand the "expect" utility. While searching for a way to automate a build process that involves jar signing, I came across expect, and thought I could use it to supply a password to jarsigner (whether having a password in a shell script is a good idea I understand the risks of). expect "Enter Passphrase for keystore:" Instead of catching this, the jarsigner sat waiting at that line. Am I completely misunderstanding the point of "expect" and if I am, what can I use to achieve this effect?

I have read somewhere that a laptop risks overheating if using a discrete graphics card all the time. Is this true? Does someone have any experience to share?
