  Hi, I need to produce a very simple website (no dynamic-content, 2-columns, header&footer) and I have a basic knowledge of xhtml/css. So I could probably come with something from scratch, but it would probably won't work in "all" browsers. I've done some googling, but it's difficult for me to evaluate the quality of the "free templates" advertized all over the place. So is there any web developer here that has good references or even such models/templates ?

  I want to make an XMLHttpRequest to a secure uri (https://site.com/ajaxservice/) from javascript running inside a nonsecure page (http://site.com/page.htm). I've tried all kinds of nutty stuff like iframes and dynamic script elements, so far no go. I know I am violating 'same origin policy' but there must be some way to make this work. I will take any kind of wacky solution short of having the SSL protocol written in javascript.

So the website has a standard way of logging in with 2 textboxes and a submit action on the form. So how can I log in then get the HTMl source so I can parse it. For example, if "navigation 1" was "this is the first item in the navigation", How do I make the width of the whole dropdown wider automatically, but without affecting the size of the navigation button which causes the dropdown the dropdown when mouseover'ed? Basically, I don't want to text to wrap in the dropdown, but at the same time, I don't want to button for the dropdown to go wider.

  I am trying to center a paragraph tag with some text in it within a div, but I can't seem to center it using margin: 0 auto without having to specify a fixed width for the paragraph. I don't want to specify a fixed width, because I will have dynamic text coming into the paragraph tag and it will always be a different width based on how much text it is. Does anyone know how I can center the paragraph tag within the div without having to specify a fixed width for the paragraph or without using tables?
