    I want to be able to detect and abort OS shutdown from my application, preferably by using the Windows API. I know that it is possible to do this manually using the command shutdown -a In the worst case, I could ShellExecute this, but I was wondering if there was a better way. Also, how do I find out programatically that the OS is about to shut down, via the Win32 API?

  • Is it possible to run locally JRuby on Google App Engine without restarting server on every change?

    Unfortunately, GAE requires restart of the server on each code change. Is it possible to prevent it and have immediate feedback after code save? Or, can I import Google App Engine's API into my ruby code and run it on Sinatra server? Tried this but it fails on "import com.google.appengine.api" (it doesn't know what 'com' is). For Sinatra, I use "Rerun" ( http://github.com/alexch/rerun ) which restarts server immediately after a change with minimum wait. Thanks.

I'm using Qt for symbian. my problem is that Qt doesn't provide ready to use API for bluetooth.Only Qt extended(which runs on embedded linux) has API for bluetooth.   • Should I split my website into different servers

    I have a website where a user uploads photos, the photos gets resized and thumbnailed, and stored on the server. At the same time, there are some INSERTS into a MySQL table regarding the photo uploaded (like description, user id etc). The site currently runs off a managed VPS, and I love the support it provides. However it is expensive to store the many small photos and the resizing and thumbnailing processes do cause spikes on the app performance. (Amazon S3 is pretty expensive, especially considering the costs for uploading many small files) Question: Will it be a good idea to move the image processing operations and image storage to another server which is an unmanaged dedicated server with a much lower cost/gb and keep the current VPS for its 24/7 support and hosting the webapp? Or should I move the entire site to the dedicated server? Since the post proceedure only requires this : JSON: curl -u username:password -d status="your message here" http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json I was wondering if it is possible with the standard libraries to format this so a message could be sent. My head says it should be possible.

  • Explorer hijacked by a trojan

    I managed to catch a newish trojan that my Anti virus program wasn't able to detect. I'm usually not that bad at technical stuff regarding computers but I really don't know what to do with this one anymore. The trojan somehow managed to get my Windows to recover it every time I try to remove it by deleting it's exe (called some weird name located in Programs "asdza/saddasn.exe" (example only)). It also sets an entry in my autostart. It starts a second explorer.exe and tries to connect to some server obviously trying to steal data. (glad I still have my firewall) How can I get rid of this trojan, I really need help. It is new and probably unrecognized by all major virus scanners.

Elements can be considered hidden for several reasons: An ancestor element is hidden, so the element is not shown on the page. What I want to detect is "this element is visible, but is contained in a hidden parent". Ie, if I made the parent visible, this element would also be visible.

We are currently not in a position to deploy our application on top of App Engine because of limitations in the java frameworks (jboss seam 2.2.0) we are using to build our j2ee application. We would eventually want to deploy our production application on top of Google App Engine, but what are the short term options (java based open source products) which provides comparable functionality to Google App Engine's Image API and will have an easier migration path at a later point in time.

  • DDNS Not Creating Journal (Dhcpd and Named)

    * EDIT 1 * After monkeying with additional debug logging I see some log entries of interest. 27-Jul-2012 23:45:26.537 general: error: zone example.lan/IN/internal: journal rollforward failed: no more 27-Jul-2012 23:45:26.537 general: error: zone example.lan/IN/internal: not loaded due to errors. ^^^ If I can remedy the above messages I think I'll be good to go ^^^ * EDIT 2 * Grasping at straws I touched a forward and a reverse zone journal file and restarted named. Boom! Works. Despite documentation stating the files are created automatically and what I have seen before... dunno why but that did the trick. Also re-checked perms on the dir the files live in. As certain as I was, they were correct with named having rw. CentOS 6 (final) dhcpd 4.1.1-P1 named BIND 9.8.2rc1-RedHat-9.8.2-0.10.rc1.el6 Basic DHCP and DNS functionality are in place on 192.168.111.2. Clients are assigned addresses as intended and can resolve local DNS names as well as Internet names. My problem is that named's zone journal files are not created. chroot: /var/named/chroot I tried placing the zone files in various directories (/var/named/data, /var/named, /var/named/dynamic - no matter which dir with named owning and wide open perms I now get nowhere). Along the way I, at one point, got a permission denied when named tried to create the journal. Resolved the issue by: chown --recursive named:named /var/named chmod --recursive 777 /var/named The journal was then created and here's where things fell apart. I attempted to tame permissions to something more sane and broke it. Once changed and having restarted named it threw an error indicating the journal was out of sync (or something to that affect)... didn't matter since this is a new setup so I deleted it and now it is not recreated. Now though I see no errors in /var/log/messages, my chrooted /var/log/named.log, or chrooted /var/log/named.debug. I increased the debug level with 'rndc trace' - no love. Increased trace to 10, still nothing. SELinux is disabled...     I have a .NET assembly, to be released. Its release build includes: A public, documented API of methods which people are supposed to use A public but undocumented API of other methods, which exist only in order to help test the assembly, and which people are not supposed to use The assembly to be released is a custom control, not an application. To regression-test it, I run it in a testing framework/application, which uses (in addition to the public/documented API) some advanced/undocumented methods which are exported from the control. For the public methods which I don't want people to use, I excluded them from the documentation using the <exclude> tag (supported by the Sandcastle Help File Builder), and the [EditorBrowsable] attribute, for example like this: /// <summary> /// Gets a <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance, which helps /// to combine several DOM edits into a single transaction, which /// can be undone and redone as if they were a single, atomic operation. /// </summary> /// <returns>A <see cref="IEditorTransaction"/> instance.</returns> IEditorTransaction createEditorTransaction(); /// <exclude/> [EditorBrowsable(EditorBrowsableState.Never)] void debugDumpBlocks(TextWriter output); This successfully removes the method from the API documentation, and from Intellisense.
