  Normally, Google Chrome Canary cannot be set to be the system's default browser - it shows the following message in its settings: This is a secondary installation of Google Chrome, and cannot be made your default browser. They have good reasons, but nevertheless I want to use it as my default. How can I set Google Chrome Canary as the default browser on Windows 8? I found numerous solutions online about previous Windows versions, all revolving around editing the registry, and unfortunately none of them were able to solve this for me.

• How to migrate exchange 2007 (sherweb) to Google Apps?

  I need to migrate our Sherweb.com exchange 2007 services to a Google Apps account. For the process I am really not sure.. I understand I should start with creating aliases for all email accounts within the exchange server, in Google Apps, and here I'm not sure how am I supposed to explain the Exchange that the DNS have changed without losing emails.'' Second thing is: How can I safely move the up-to 3GB mailboxes from the Exchange server to the new Google Apps accounts? Must it be with Outlook data files? If so, how do I actually upload the data files into the Google Apps account? And if not, what would be a proper way to do so? Would really appreciate any kind of help.

• Specify drive letters during installation

  Hi all, The hard drive has two partitions. I'm installing Windows 7 on the second one. It automatically gets assigned the drive letter C (and the first partition becomes D). Is there any way to override this assignment during installation? It's a dual-boot system, and I want drive letters to be consistent. On the vanilla drive selection dialog, there's no letter assignment UI.

• Chrome drag and drop download links

  In Chrome, I used to be able to take a link to a file and just drag to a folder on my system. Chrome would then download whatever resource was at the URL for the link and put it into the folder dropped into. This was particularly handy when using Gmail. If there was an attachment, I could just click and drag it into a folder, and Chrome would download it for me to the correct place. Now I have to hit download, and then drag from the download bar when it is finished. Has this feature been removed? Is there any way to bring it back?

  I'm trying to completely replace the CSS for a domain with different CSS (i.e. swap out the CSS at gaming.SE for that of Stack Overflow). I'd ideally like an extension that lets me do this. I've used Personalized Web, which allows loading in CSS for a given domain, but it still loads the original CSS (you can specify CSS to ignore, but you have to do this rule by rule! Does anyone know of a way of doing this?

• Alternatives to the ClickToPlugin Safari extension for Chrome users

  I have been using Safari with ClickToPlugin and was wondering if there was anything similar for Chrome. I am looking for both the click-through to plugin functionality as well as the HTML5 video replacements. I've done some looking around the Chrome extensions page and found some specific extensions to help with forcing the HTML5 on YouTube or to block Flash but none seem offer the generic functionality (click-through works for any given plugin) and flexibility that ClickToPlugin does (ClickToPlugin has HTML5 video replacements for a plethora of websites). I am looking to mimic the aforementioned features in Chrome, but they don't necessarily have to be provided by one single extension.

• 1 iPhone, 2 (potentially 3) Macs......& Google Apps Sync?!

  Currently I use a beast of a G5 Mac at work for all my software/web development, an iMac G5 at home for personal use & a MacBook Pro for when i'm on the go. At work we make heavy use of all the Google Apps features such as calendar & docs etc. We all have an address book (local mac application) that gets synced with a list of contacts stored on our mail server. I want to be able to integrate the Google Apps calendar with my iPhone calendar (or even just iCal - which i can then sync to the iPhone). Essentially I want all three Macs to have the Google calendar synced to their version of iCal including the iPhone. I've heard that Google Sync handles something along these lines but i'm unsure if it's going to fulfill my needs? I'm trying my best to avoid having to use MobileMe.....   I just built a new PC the other day. Specs... Processor: Intel i7-930 quad core CPU CPU Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Motherboard: AsRock X58 Extreme 3 RAM/Memory: 6gb G-Skill tripple channel DDR3 memory (3 sticks of 2gb planning to get another kit to make it 12gb total soon) Operating System Hard drive: Intel X25-M 80GB Mainstream SATA2 Solid State Drive Video Cards: 2 XFX ATI Redeon HD 4650 cards to run 3-4 monitors Case: Lian Li PC-B10 Midtower case Power Supply: Antec TruePower New TP-750 Blue 750W Operating System Windows 7 Pro 64bit Not sure if the specs are helpful at all but I posted them just in case. So I got everything put together and running great so far but I need some advice/ideas/help/tips. I got the SSD drive in hopes of using it strictly for my windows 7 install along with all my other programs I install. I am then going to get another drive or 2 just for data (video,music,photos, etc). So my plan is to just install the new data drives and then in windows 7 I will change my "My documents" "My Music" "My Video" "MY Photos" library's to be located on the data drives instead of the OS SSD drive. I would ultimately like to install all my programs with my windows install on the SSD drive and then create an IMAGE of the drive and then 6 months down the road if things are sluggish I can just wipe the drive and restore my IMAGE with all my programs and settings in tact still. So here are some questions now. 1) How can I verify that TRIM is working on my new SSD? 2) Is there anything above that I missed that I should be doing? I think I once read that there is a page file or some sort of file that windows changes a lot and that it should be moved off f an SSD an onto my data drives. DOes anyone know what I might of heard? If you do can you explain the pros and cons of doing such a thing as well as how to possibly? 3) Any tips or advice to get the best performance from all this, I built a pretty nice system and I just want to make it stay that way as long as I can.

However none of the "application mode" shortcuts I created pick up this theme. For example, running chrome as follows does not pick up the "brushed" theme: chrome.exe --app=gmail.com I want to be able to apply themes to google chrome in application mode.

  There is this website which has customized audio files for me. I would like to save them in a special folder. Now I don't want to select the "special folder" each time in the file-chooser dialogue of my browser. I would rather prefer to have a custom entry in the context menu when I right-click the download link. This context-menu-entry should do the trick and download the file to the predefined "special folder". How would I start about that? I am using Safari and Chrome. So a solution in either browser is fine. To get into the context menu of the browser, what kind of programming do I need to do? Is it an extension, plugin, etc.? Thanks

  I have a problem with a LTO 3 Tape Drive. I'm using Brightstor ArcServe Backup software with Windows Server 2003. Sometimes, the scheduled backups will stop working and going into "devices" inside this software reveals that the Tape Drive is offline. The only way to make it work again is uninstalling the Tape Drive's driver and rebooting the server: Windows then auto recognizes and installs the required drivers and the Tape Drive works again. Has anyone ever encountered a similar problem?

  I principally use Firefox both at home and at work, but on occasion I use Chrome. I have Firefox working the way I like it by having it open bookmarks in a new tab when left clicked, as well, URLs open in new tabs. Although having URLs open in a new tab can be annoying if I type a bad URL, I still prefer it, but that's neither here nor there. I would like to replicate this behaviour in Chrome, and can't seem to find anything relavent in the settings. Is there any way of doing this without an extension? If not, can you point me towards an appropriate extension (I've already done a search and can't find what I'm looking for)?

• If I let Google handle my emails for my domain, my Wordpress site won't send out emails anymore

  Since I decided to let Google handle all my emails for my domain, while the domain is hosted on a 3rd party server, emails send out by a Wordpress installation no longer work. My supposition is that since all email is being routed to Google, my specific account on that server for that domain is unable to send out emails. I definitely wish to keep using google services for handling my emails since it comes with all the advantages connected to a Google account. However I need my Wordpress installation to send out administrative emails. I run my server with CPanel. How to configure that specific account and/or Wordpress to keep it able to send out emails? I don't need people to answer these emails sent out from server (eventually I might set a reply-to-address perhaps) thanks
