• Haskell lazy I/O and closing files

  I've written a small Haskell program to print the MD5 checksums of all files in the current directory (searched recursively). Basically a Haskell version of md5deep. All is fine and dandy except if the current directory has a very large number of files, in which case I get an error like: <program>: <currentFile>: openBinaryFile: resource exhausted (Too many open files) It seems Haskell's laziness is causing it not to close files, even after its corresponding line of output has been completed. The relevant code is below. • How is this Perl code selecting two different elements from an array?

  I have inherited some code from a guy whose favorite past time was to shorten every line to its absolute minimum (and sometimes only to make it look cool). His code is hard to understand but I managed to understand (and rewrite) most of it. Or are my assumptions wrong? At least, that's what this code is supposed to do. Select 2 random files and copy them. === NOTES === The OSA Framework is a Framework of our own. They are named after their UNIX counterparts and do some basic testing so that the application does not need to bother with that.

• Line End Problem Reading with Scanner Class in Java

  I am not an experienced Java programmer and i'm trying to write some text to a file and then read it with Scanner. I know there are lots of ways of doing this, but i want to write records to file with delimiters, then read the pieces. The problem is so small. When I look the output some printing isn't seen(shown in below). I mean the bold line in the Output that is only written "Scanner". I would be appreciated if anyone can answer why "String: " isn't seen there. (Please answer just what i ask) I couldn't understand if it is a simple printing problem or a line end problem with "\r\n".   Here is the client side code. I only get this problem when am trying to send JSON. Where exactly is the problem? Am i encoding the JSON the wrong way on AppEngine? I tried using the JSON library but it looks as if this is not supported. Where is the problem exactly? :(

• auto-document exceptions on methods in C#/.NET

  I would like some tool, preferably one that plugs into VS 2008/2010, that will go through my methods and add XML comments about the possible exceptions they can throw. I don't want the <summary> or other XML tags to be generated for me because I'll fill those out myself, but it would be nice if even on private/protected methods I could see which exceptions could be thrown. Otherwise I find myself going through the methods and hovering on all the method calls within them to see the list of exceptions, then updating that method's <exception list to include those. Maybe a VS macro could do this? The tool would also need to eliminate duplicates, like if two calls within a method are documented as throwing DirectoryNotFoundException, the method would only list <exception cref="System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException"/> once.

• OSGi bundle imports packages from non-bundle jars: create bundles for them?

  I am new to OSGi, and am using Equinox. I have done several searches and can find no answer to this. The discussion at OSGI - handling 3rd party JARs required by a bundle helps somewhat, but does not fully answer my question. I have obtained a jar file, rabbitmq-client.jar, that is already packaged as an OSGi bundle (with Bundle-Name and other such properties in its MANIFEST.MF), that I would like to install as a bundle. This jar imports packages org.apache.commons.io and org.apache.commons.io.input from commons-io-1.2.jar. The RabbitMQ client 2.7.1 distribution also includes commons-cli-1.1.jar, so I presume that it is required as well. I examined the manifests of these commons jars and found that they do not appear to be packaged as bundles. That is, their manifests have none of the standard bundle properties. My specific question is: if I install rabbitmq-client.jar as a bundle, what is the proper way to get access to the packages that it needs to import from the commons jars? There are only three alternatives that I can think of, without rebuilding rabbitmq-client.jar. The packages from the commons jars are already included in the Equinox global classpath, and rabbitmq-client.jar will get them automatically from there. I must make another bundle with the two commons jars, export the needed packages, and install that bundle in Equinox. I must put these two commons jars in the global classpath when I start Equinox, and they will be available to rabbitmq-client.jar from there. I have read that one normally does not use the global classpath in an OSGi container. I am not clear on whether items from the global classpath are even available when building individual bundle classpaths. However, I note that rabbitmq-client.jar also imports other packages such as javax.net, which I presume come from the global classpath. Or is there some other bundle that exports them? • Writing a generic function that can take a Writer as well as an OutputStream

  I wrote a couple of functions that look like this: def myWrite(os: OutputStream) = {} def myWrite(w: Writer) = {} Now both are very similar and I thought I would try to write a single parametrized version of the function. I started with a type with the two methods that are common in the Java OutputStream and Writer: type Writable[T] = { def close() : Unit def write(cbuf: Array[T], off: Int, len: Int): Unit } One issue is that OutputStream writes Byte and Writer writes Char, so I parametrized the type with T. Then I write my function: def myWrite[T, A[T] <: Writable[T]](out: A[T]) = {} and try to use it: val w = new java.io.StringWriter() myWrite(w) Result: <console>:9: error: type mismatch; found : java.io.StringWriter required: ?A[ ?T ] Note that implicit conversions are not applicable because they are ambiguous: both method any2ArrowAssoc in object Predef of type [A](x: A)ArrowAssoc[A] and method any2Ensuring in object Predef of type [A](x: A)Ensuring[A] are possible conversion functions from java.io.StringWriter to ?A[ ?T ] myWrite(w) I tried a few other combinations of types and parameters, to no avail so far. My question is whether there is a way of achieving this at all, and if so how. (Note that the implementation of myWrite will need, internally, to know the type T that parametrizes the write() method, because it needs to create a buffer as in new ArrayT.)

• java.awt.Desktop.open doesn’t work with PDF files?

  It looks like I cannot use Desktop.open() on PDF files regardless of location. • Use external inline script as local function

  Had this closed once as a duplicate, yet the so-called duplicate DID NOT actually address my whole question. I have found this script that, when run inline, returns your IP. <script type="text/javascript" src="http://l2.io/ip.js"></script> http://l2.io/ip.js Has nothing more than a line of code that says document.write('123.123.123.123'); (But obviously with the user's IP address) I want to use this IP address as a return string for a function DEFINED EXTERNALLY, BUT STILL ON MY DOMAIN. That is, I have a "scripts.js" that contains all the scripts I wish to use, and I would like to include it in that list as a local function that calls to the 12.io function, but javascript won't allow the < tags, so I am unsure as to how to do this. I.e. function getIP() { return (THAT SCRIPT'S OUTPUT); } This is the topic this was supposedly a duplicate of, and it is very similar. • Wildcard DNS entry to match lang subdomain

  Hey, We have a website www.example.com pointing to x.x.x.1 and a system with multiples minisites all having subdomains.examples.com pointing to x.x.x.2 Basically what we have in place is a wildcard DNS entry who could basically match any possible subdomain, once reaching x.x.x.2, the apache vhost would intercept and basically redirect it to a php script who in turn would know what minisites to serve. On www.example.com however, we server contents which are translates in several languages, until few weeks ago you could switch languages by clicking on a flag and you'd be served with the translated content. The only problem is that the URL wouldn't change and SEO wise this isn't the best solution. Now I cannot change the way subdomain are handled (being redirected to x.x.x.2) since we have hundreds, if not thousands of minisites live. I have to come up with a solution to have language.example.com redirecting to x.x.x.1 and then a rewrite rule who would basically rewrite the fake subdomain into a URL in order to pass the parameter of the language to example.com On solution is to list all possible language as DNS entries right before the wildcard DNS entry. The other solution which I am almost sure is not feasible is to have some kind of regex in a DNS entry matching all subdomain with 2 letters ( en|es|fr|cn|cl etc... ) Any ideas?

• PHP displays blank white page even with all error reporting enabled

  I am trying to debug a broken page in a Drupal application and am having a hard time getting PHP to spit anything useful out. I have the following set: error_reporting = E_ALL display_errors = On display_startup_errors = On log_errors = On error_log = /var/log/php/php_error.log I have a file showing me phpinfo() which confirms these variables are set correctly for the environment. I have increased memory_limit to 256M (which should be more than enough). Yet, the only indication I get is a status 500 code in the apache access log and a blank white page from PHP. • New SBS 2011 installation (not migration) in an existing 2008 R2 domain

  My current network setup has two servers: a Windows 2008 R2 with TMG 2010 as edge firewall (TMG server), a second 2008 R2 with DC, DNS and Hyper-V roles (DCDNS server). I was trying to install SBS 2011 as a child partition on DCDNS, first I installed SBS 2011 in English and did the migration successfully. However, later on, I found that I can't change the display language in SBS 2011 once it's installed (but the clients require a different language), so I had to re-install the SBS in a different language. It is during the re-installation that the problem came up: the migration can't be completed with some error message stating "can't access the source server". I re-ran the migration preparation tool, but it didn't make any difference. I wonder if it's because the source server can only be "migrated" once. Since I only need to setup a handful of users and computers, so I decided to do a new install of SBS and picked a different domain name. But I can't get the SBS to connect to LAN: it can't ping other servers, neither can other servers ping the SBS server. I've tried to stop the DC/DNS services on DCDNS and restart SBS, but with no difference. Anyone has idea how to fix this problem?

  So I want to build a XHTML 1.0 Strict based website. Using Notepad++ for syntax highlighting came as an idea to me. But when I tried to put the XML declaration (as stated in the spec, proper XHTML pages should use a XML declaration and be served as application/xhtml+xml) I can't get the entire document highlighted propperly. I can get past it by swallowing the error but I wanted to know if anyone can explain what the issue is. • ASP.net FFMPEG video conversion receiving error: "Error number -2 occurred"

  Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. The error -2 comes up when i output the standard error from the process I executed.   Hi, I am using the below code to Export DataTable to MS Word,Excel,CSV format & it's working fine. But problem is that this code export to MS Word 2003,Excel 2003 version. I need to Export my DataTable to Word 2007,Excel 2007,CSV because I am supposed to handle more than 100,000 records at a time and as we know Excel 2003 supports for only 65,000 records.
