    Hi, i need a locking in memcache. Since all operations are atomic that should be an easy task. My idea is to use a basic spin-lock mechanism. So every object that needs locking in memcache gets a lock object, which will be polled for access. // pseudo code // try to get a lock int lock; do { lock = Memcache.increment("lock", 1); } while(lock != 1) // ok we got the lock // do something here // and finally unlock Memcache.put("lock", 0); How does such a solution perform? About 90% of them are imported perfectly but 10% are rewritten automatically into scientific notation. How do I turn this feature of. I just want all the numbers kept in their standard form.   • Storing index values in FAST-ESP without modifications

    Hi, first of all I'm totally new to FAST but I already have a couple of issues I need to solve, so I'm sorry if my questions are very basic =) Well, the problem is that I have a field in the FAST index which in the source document is something like "ABC 12345" (please note the intentional whitespaces) but when stored in the index is in the form "ABC 123456" (please note that now there is a single space). If I retrieve all the document values then this specific value is OK (with all the whitespaces), my only problem is with the way the value is stored in the index since I need to retrieve and display it to my user just like it appears in the original document, and I don't want to go to the full document just for this value, I want the value that I already have in the index. I think I need to update one of the FAST XML configuration files but I don't have enough documentation at hand in order to decide where to perform the change, index_profile.xml? in the XMLMapper file?

  • controlling which project header file Xcode will include

    My Xcode project builds to variations of the same product using two targets. The difference between the two is only on which version of an included library is used. For the .c source files it's easy to assign the correct version to the correct target using the target check box. However, including the header file always includes the same one. This is correct for one target, but wrong for the other one. Is there a way to control which header file is included by each target? Here is my project file hierarchy (which is replicated in Xcode): MyProject TheirOldLib theirLib.h theirLib.cpp TheirNewLib theirLib.h theirLib.cpp myCode.cpp and myCode.cpp does thing such as: #include "theirLib.h" … somecode() { #if OLDVERSION theirOldLibCall(…); #else theirNewLibCall(…); #endif } And of course, I define OLDVERSION for one target and not for the other. So is there a way to tell Xcode which theirLib.h to include per target? Constraints: - the two header files have the same name. As a last resort, I could rename one of them, but I'd rather avoid that as this will lead to major hair pulling on the other platforms. - I'm free to tweak my project as I otherwise see fit Thanks for any help.

  • PHP, MySQL: Receive email, auto search in DB & send email based on the results

    Hi all, Visitors can contact staff by means of contact form (visitor needs to submit email as well). This will be stored in DB. Now considering that staff responds to this message, the reply from the staff would be sent to the visitors email directly. Say if the user wants to follow up on the message sent by the staff, I would like the visitor to just hit the reply button in his email service & send me his questions on the same topic, but just retain the ID in the Subject line. So when the visitor send this email, I would like to receive the email & at the same time, try to search in my DB if the ID that is present in the email subject, actually exists in the system. If yes, that would be sent back to the same staff member who handled the response previously or it would be assigned to a new staff member. That being said, I was thinking of how to do this. The part where I am really held up is when the staff receives the actual email from the visitors email, how can I check the DB? Say I am/staff is receiving emails at [email protected]. When visitor sends reply email, then it would be sent to [email protected]. How can I check to see if the ID in the subject line of the email that I received at [email protected], actually exists in my DB in my website? This is where I am really stuck. Why should I use Solr PHP client when I can use: $serializedResult = file_get_contents( 'http://localhost:8983/solr/select?q=niklas&wt=phps'); to get the result in arrays and then print them out? I don't really get the difference. Are there any richer features with the PHP client?

I know I can do this by actually running the program and counting the number of calls, but what I'm trying to do here is to do it without calling the function. I'm not asking for a time complexity, I'm trying to calculate the average number of calls. For example, the average number of calls to find a integer in A[2], it would be 1.67 (5/3).

In my answer to his question (which is related to something else), I told him that I would discourage him from using such an approach, but without giving any real reasons. He is now wanting reasons why it is not a good idea, and I'm using this question to see if the community can come up with a compelling enough list of reasons for him to use another approach, such as one using a dbms, code-reuse, url-rewriting, MVC, and what not.

    I have a data structures homework, that in addition to the regular AVL tree functions, I have to add a function that returns the minimum gap between any two numbers in the AVL tree (the nodes in the AVL actually represent numbers.) Lets say we have the numbers (as nodes) 1 5 12 20 23 21 in the AVL tree, the function should return the minimum gap between any two numbers. In this situation it should return "1" which is |20-21| or |21-20|. It should be done in O(1). Tried to think alot about it, and I know there is a trick but just couldn't find it, I have spent hours on this. There was another task which is to find the maximum gap, which is easy, it is the difference between the minimal and maximal number.

    Hi, I'm using the Google AppEngine 1.3.4 SDK which offers to allow your application to act as a OAuth service provider (http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/oauth/). Setting up a standard application on my localhost and using the following: Request URL /_ah/OAuthGetRequestToken Authorize URL /_ah/OAuthAuthorizeToken Access Token URL /_ah/OAuthGetAccessToken The client application just gets sent to a page requesting to grant OAuth access even though no user is logged in. Clicking 'Grant access' results in a message saying 'OAuth access granted' with no tokens or anything exchange. Can't see how this could work when it's not even prompting for a login. As this functionality is quite new I can't find much out there. I've created a OAuth provider before in Rails and know that you need a Consumer Key and Secret, something that seems to be lacking in GAE? Any ideas on how to get OAuth working in a sample GAE project are most welcome.

    I have 6000 data of district, subdistrict. I need to represent this on dependent dropdown. The datamodel is for example; class Location(db.Model): location_name = db.StringProperty() location_parent = db.IntegerProperty() location_parent is reference to key() or id()? Still cannot decide which one is good. When i use key() as reference then using JSON to create jquery dependent drop down. My page loading/query and rendering time the dropdown is quite slow? Can i use key().id() as drop down option value to lighten up the page load? Any better solution for this parent/child reference for the drop down? For example: for the district record/entities the location-parent is null, for sub district record location_name will contain reference to parent district record. Other issue is to reverse geocoding the location to store or display geoPoint (lat,long)? Is google MAP API always find the exact lat,long of specific region boundaries or any error checking for the result?

  • Need to search email body for regex using VBA

    I am trying to write a script that I can run from a rule withing outlook. The goal of this script is to search the email body for a regex pattern, \d{8}-\d{3}\(E\d\) in this case. I want to take that pattern and see if a folder with the name of the match exists and if not create one. I am not super familiar with VBA as I write mostly in python. I have copied and pasted the following bit of code together but at this time I am unable to get the MsgBox to appear when I send an email with 20120812-001(E3) in the body.   • Debug PyDev+Eclipse - Code not reloads after code change in breakpoint/suspend mode

    I often doing such steps and want to optimize debug speed: I am setting some breakpoints. I am running Google Appengine Application (Python 2.5.2+). When breakpoint occur I often change code to fix bugs. After code change want to test again but there is problem if I changed code in breakpoint/suspend mode the application does not updates with my code changes - thus requiring a slow reloading. Does anybody have an idea of what is root cause of forcing reloading after suspend or it is PyDev Bug/Limitation?

  • Empty list in appengine datastore: java vs python

    I have the following java model class in AppEngine: public class Xyz ... { @Persistent private Set<Long> uvw; } When saving an object Xyz with an empty set uvw in Java, I get a "null" field (as listed in the appengine datastore viewer). When I try to load the same object in python (through remote_api), as defined by the following python model class: class Xys(db.Model): uvw = db.ListProperty(int) I get a "BadValueError: Property uvw is required". When saving another object of the same class in python with an empty uvw list, the datastore viewer print a "missing" field. Apparently empty lists storage handling differs between Java and python and lead to "incompatible" objects. Thus my question: Is there a way to, either: force Java to store an empty list as a "missing" field, force Python to gracefully accept a "null" list as an empty list when loading the object? Or any other suggestion on how to handle empty list field in both languages. Thanks for your answers!

  • What software do you use for letter templating and printing?

    In our LOB application there is a very important use case of printing letters, which are then printed and posted out from a mail house (thousands per day). The current situation is that the letter templates are created in Word 97 and fields are mail merged from values in database using a VB.Net application that basically uses word automation. But depending on Word 97 is not a good idea today. We only have a couple of PCs that have Word 97 installed as rest of the company has moved to Office 2007. What software or technology (compatible with .Net) is available today that best suits this scenario. Is it better to do the same thing but move to Word 2007 or PDF or something else. Price may not be a factor. The important thing is that the letter templates must be designed by business users and data to fill placeholders come from DB. A bonus would be to import the hundreds of existing Word 97 letter templates without rewriting them from scratch.
