  • How to make CSS/HTML prototyping faster for engineers without strong CSS skills?

    I've been developing Ruby on Rails applications for some time, and have often found help to develop generate the templates of HTML with accompanying CSS. However, I'd like to make an attempt at doing this myself. Initial experiments leave me feeling like my process is really slow. I'm writing all my Rails code in VIM, which, with accompanying aliases to run the test suite, is pretty fast for me. However, the back-and-forth between browser/VIM to see new changes seems cumbersome - I'm guessing finding an editor with an embedded browser that constantly sees new changes is ideal for this (any suggestions?) So far I've experimented with Blueprint, which at the onset seems like it will save me a ton of time. However, what other tools have helped you do the PSD-HTML/CSS conversion as fast as you can?

  • How do I extend a WPF application using an addin-like architeture?

    Lets say I have a WPF application that shows a ListBox with an ArrayList -populated with objects of arbitrary types- as a source, and this application is hosted in an assembly 'A'. By default the ListBox will display the custom object 'ToString' method return value. If a data template for that object type is found, the ListBox will use it for rendering. Imagine that theres another assembly 'B' that references of 'A' and seeks to extend it by providing custom data templates for certain types, to be used in that ListBox. Is there some way to do that without 'A'being aware of B?

  • Can multiple wordpress's feed off one database?

    I am a template designer and I want to create one wordpress with all generic posts, but I don't want to have to keep logging in and copy & pasteing the same wordpress posts everytime. Can I point multiple WP installs to one database? A harder way would be export a master db and importing it to each install. Before I go crazy and try to hack something together, does anyone have any advise? -Thanks in advance.

    I'm writing a simple nD-vector class, but am encountering a strange bug. On the surface this seems to work fine, and both tests print out the correct values. However, at the end of main the program crashes with a segfault, which I've traced to nvector's destructor. At first I thought the (incorrect) default assignment operator was somehow being called, which is why I added the (currently) unimplemented explicit assignment operator to rule this possibility out. So my copy constructor must be buggy, but I'm having one of those days where I'm staring at extremely simple code and just can't see it. Do you guys have any ideas?

  • django file serving issues

    I have in my url patterns, urlpatterns += patterns('', (r'^(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': '/home/tipu/Dropbox/dev/workspace/search/images'}) In my template when I do <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{{ MEDIA_URL }}style.css" /> It serves the css just fine. But the file logo.png, that's in the same directory as style.css, doesn't show when I do this: <img src = "{{ MEDIA_URL }}logo.png" id = "logo" /> Any idea why?

  • Cascading Dropdown List

    I am working on a web app and trying to code a form with two dropdown lists. The list in the second dropdown will be dependent on the selection from the first one. The task itself isn’t too complicated except that once the first selection is made, I need to make a database call to pull the data for the second dropdown. This is where I am having difficulty. Both lists are in fact populated from a database. I am working on this in a python script and have been trying to do this w/ an onChange javascript function. The web app is built in Zope and page templates may be an option along w/ the python scripts.

  • Does django take SCRIPT_NAME into account when using the default LOGIN_URL

    Hi, I'm using Django 1.0.2 and trying to figure out how to get the @login_required working correctly. When I use the built-in server it redirects to the default login_url, or my LOGIN_URL as defined in settings.py as expected. What is not clear to me is how to deploy to the server where my site is not at the root. In my templates I use the url template tag, and in the views I can access request.META['SCRIPT_NAME'], but for some reason it doesn't seem to apply to the LOGIN_URL used. What am I missing? Thanks.

In future we need implement FIX FAST in our application to communicate with them. I found that OPEN FAST is FAST based library. But I do not have any idea how to start with it.     I'm uisng a RichTextArea to display my html content in SL 4,I want to underline the content displayed by the control ( without modifying the html) and also attach an event of Onclick on the text . I tried different options i.e using RichTextArea in the content template of a Hyperlinkbutton but as the content of RichTextArea cannot be set directly, this was ruled out. Any suggestions ?

  • Django: How/Where to store a value for a session without unnecessary DB hits

    Hi all, I have an extended userprofile with AUTH_PROFILE_MODULE (ref: http://tinyurl.com/yhracqq) I would like to set a user.is_guru() method similar to user.is_active(). This would results for al views (or rather templates) to e.g. disable/enable certain user messages, displaying of widgets, etc. The boolean is stored in the extended user profile model, but I want to avoid hitting the DB for every view. So the questions is .. Do I use a context_processor, a template tag, session_dict or what have you to, possible cached, store this info for the duration of the users visit. Note: I dont have performance issues, so it's definitely filed under premature optimization. I just want to avoid generating extra work in the future :). Any pointers are very welcome.     I have a navigation based template, when I run my application using Instruments, the very first memory leak comes under: Leak Object: Malloc 128 bytes Responsible Library: CoreGraphics Responsible Frame: open_handle_to_dylib_path I don't know where this leak is coming from and how remove this. If it's a default leak, then I think I don't need to worry about it. But if it's not then I have to find a way to remove the leak.

    I am trying to get an dynamically created element using a jQuery selector but it is returning an empty array. The first thing I am doing is grabbing an empty div: var packDiv = document.getElementById('templates'); packDiv.innerHTML = ""; then adding items to it in a loop: packDiv.innerHTML = packDiv.innerHTML + "<img id='" + thumbName + "' src='thumbs/" + thumbName + "'/>"; after the loop finishes I try to select an item using: console.log($("#"+thumbName)); and it returns the empty array. All the things I search on show to use .on but all the examples show that is to set event handlers. My question is how do I format a selector for dynamically created elements?

  • Why is new showat attribute required when using code generation?

    When I generate code using T4 templates in Visual Studio 2010, I get the following error for each of my asp controls when I try to compile: Control "ddState" is missing required attribute "showat". I have never gotten this error in previous versions of .NET. Further, I don't get this error when I manually construct my pages either by dragging/dropping, nor do I get it when I type out the control text myself. When I generate code, I have to manually add showat="client" to my tag for the compiler to be happy. It was my understanding that I never had to explicitly specify this tag. The following: <asp:dropdownlist id="ddState" runat="server" showat="client" /> solves the problem. Why do I have to add this to generated code but not other times? (It's a VS-2010 webforms project, using VB, in case that makes a difference.)
