we are considering TFS2010 but need to confirm some information as we're still using TFS2008 and vs2008. the question is whether we can still manage our builds using the 2008 client.
please advise.
thanks!
Windows 7 computer running SQL Server Express 2008 (sp1).
When I try to run net start mssql$sqlexpress I receive an error:
System error 5 has occurred.
Access is denied
The SQL service is running under "Network Service" account
The service starts fine if I use the services window. Could somebody help me figure out why I am receiving this error?
Hi,
I am trying to execute a SSIS 2008 package on a 64-bit OS and import Excel 2003 files to SQL Server 2008.
I have created an OLEDB Connection to the Excel file with a Connection String that retrieves the Excel file from a variable, inside the ForEach Loop Container.
The Run64BitRunTime is set to false.
I am not able to edit the SQL Command on the OLEDB Source in the Data Flow task. It returns an error :
Error 2 Validation error. Load List Staged Table: Load List Staged Table: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "List OLEDB to Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed. 0 0
Appreciate any help.
Hi,
I'm currently working on a project using DSL tools in Visual Studio 2008.
Is there a way to automatically add a resource into the solution explorer of the experimental hive at runtime? I'm creating new diagrams based on what is on screen, and saving them into the directory the project is stored in. I would like to know if there is a way to get them to automatically get added to the solution explorer? (I don't want to have to drag the files in manually each time)
Can I enable the "Comment out the selected lines" feature for working on text files in Visual Studio 2008 or 2010? I'd like the ability to use that function on files other than normal code related files. When I open a TXT file the comment and un-comment buttons are disabled. Is there a way to change that?
Thanks
I'm using the MERGE statement to upsert rows in an sql server 2008 database. However, my sproc is a single-row operation, whereas in fact I'd prefer to batch these. Is this even possible and, if so, how do I do it?
I want to convert the datetime value to the value that I will get from sql server 2008.
Sql server truncate the milliseconds to 3 digits, so I truncate the milliseconds already. But the problem is that as you can see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/634122/milliseconds-wrong-when-converting-from-xml-to-sql-server-datetime sql server also has an precision issue.
Hello,
I have plug-in for VS 2008.
I cannot seem to figure out how to remove it.
It's liquid xml studio. The program it self cannot be uninstalled because it's not listed in the add/remove programs folder and the uninstall app is missing.
I had to get a new machine recently. It is Windows 7, loaded with Studio 2008, with Framework 3.5 sp1. When I load pre-existing projects that use the Entity Framework, the projects don't recognize the .edmx files. Any ideas?
When I created my database using sql server 2005, i was able to connect and view it in Visual Studio 2008. I then detached the database onto my flash drive. Brought it home to work in VS 2008 - that worked. finally when i detached it from home and brought back to work, it will not open. It is saying that this version of sql server is not compatible with another version. I forget the exact wording of the error, as it was lengthy.
any help you guys and provide would be very helpful!
Thank you in advance!
What's needed:
To move several directories between two Windows 2008 servers on a regular basis.
Due to security requirements, neither server is supposed to have network shares set up or extraneous software installed.
What's available:
Administrator access to both machines (including remote desktop access if that helps).
A third machine with:
Visual Studio 2010
Cygwin
Bonus extras
The script that does the rest of the work (apart from moving the files) is currently written in F#, but any .net/command line based solution would be fine.
We have a server with a database that has a symmetric key (Database - Security - Symmetric Key). We have a backup duplicate databases that we are using as a test databases, but we don't have this key in there.
How can I duplicate this symmetric key (or make a new one exactly like the old) and put it in the existing databases? It has to have the same value and key-name as the other one.
This is on SQL Server 2008.
Hey,
Is there any way to change settings for multiple projects in a Visual Studio 2008 C++ solution?
For example, adding a library dependancy for all the projects, or ignoring a specific warning.
I am aware being able to change some global settings in the IDE itself, but I'm looking for settings which will be stored in the solution/project files.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi, I'm new to SQL Server, and used mysql for a while now...
SELECT A.acol, IF(A.acol<0,"Neg","Pos") as Column2 From Table
I want to do something like that on SQL Server, but there doesn't exist the IF instruction.
How do I replace that if, in a SQL Server 2008 Query?
I have a windows app (app.exe) build with visual studio 2008, for which I have created a custom installer class. When I run installutil.exe on app.exe, the custom installer is executed OK.
I then added a setup & deployment project to create the windows installer file app.msi - this works fine but it does not run the custom installer.
How is my custom installer class supposed to get linked to the setup MSI file?
In Visual C# 2008 Express I can type e.g.
for{TAB}{TAB}
and a code snippet pops in.
Are there built-in code snippets for private/public/etc. methods as well?
I am developing a VS 2008 web application in C#. I am trying to include a namespace that is stored in one of my folders. So instead of:
using ADONET_namespace
it is stored in "Admins" folder. How do I modify this aspx.cs file to include Admins/ADONET_namespace?
Currently I get following error from aspx.cs file:
The type or namespace name 'ADONET_namespace' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
How would you write the following in Microsoft SQL Server 2008?
IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Something=1000)
UPDATE Table SET Qty = Qty + 1 WHERE Something=1000
ELSE
INSERT INTO Table(Something,Qty) VALUES(1000,1)
Hi All,
Is there any way to find ILDASm.exe from VS 2008? I know the location "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\Bin"....but i want it through vs08.
Thanks.
I have a Setup Project in my solution in Visual Studio 2008 SP1. The application installs fine but it is not loading my prerequisite of SQL Server CE.
I have the following configurations set:
Do I need to do anything else, like with a Custom Action or anything like that? Thanks.
Is there a simple (or hack) way to generate a Visual Studio 2008 project that uses Intel Compiler from cmake?
I have found some notes about using ICProjConvert. Does anyone have any scripts or CMake snippets that are proven to work?
I have application written in Visual Studio 2008 which I deploy with ClickOnce to network share while at work. Sometimes I work from home and I don't have VPN that allows access of shares to deploy application from outside of company. Is there a way that I could simple pack it, send thru FTP and unpack it on the server so that ClickOnce never notices it's been delivered differently and so it doesn't loose numeration and everything associated with normal network deployment? It's C#, .NET 3.5 application.
