  • Camera Preview App in Android throwing many errors (Nexus 4)

    - by Jagatheesan Jack
    I am trying to develop a camera app that takes a picture and saves it in a SQLite database. I get a lot of errors when executing the application. My code is as below. Any idea? CameraActivity.java private Camera mCamera; private CameraPreview mPreview; private int CAMERA_RETURN_CODE=100; private static final String TAG = "Take_Picture"; public static final int MEDIA_TYPE_IMAGE = 1; public static final int MEDIA_TYPE_VIDEO = 2; private Bitmap cameraBmp; private int MAX_FACES = 1; private Face[] faceList; public RectF[] rects; private Canvas canvas; private Drawable pictureDataDrawable; private MySQLiteHelper database; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.camera_activity); //this.requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); //Create an instance of Camera mCamera = getCameraInstance(); setCameraDisplayOrientation(this, 0, mCamera); // Create our Preview view and set it as the content of our activity. mPreview = new CameraPreview(this, mCamera); FrameLayout preview = (FrameLayout) findViewById(R.id.camera_preview); preview.addView(mPreview); database = new MySQLiteHelper(getApplicationContext()); Button captureButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button_capture); captureButton.setOnClickListener( new View.OnClickListener() { private PictureCallback mPicture; @Override public void onClick(View v) { //mCamera.startPreview(); // get an image from the camera mCamera.takePicture(null, null, mPicture); PictureCallback mPicture = new PictureCallback() { @Override public void onPictureTaken(byte[] data, Camera camera) { try{ if (data != null) database.addEntry(data); //mCamera.startPreview(); } catch(Exception e){ Log.d(TAG, e.getMessage()); } } } ); } /** A safe way to get an instance of the Camera object. */ public static Camera getCameraInstance(){ Camera c = null; try { c = Camera.open(c.getNumberOfCameras()-1); // attempt to get a Camera instance } catch (Exception e){ // Camera is not available (in use or does not exist) } return c; // returns null if camera is unavailable } public static void setCameraDisplayOrientation(Activity activity, int cameraId, android.hardware.Camera camera) { android.hardware.Camera.CameraInfo info = new android.hardware.Camera.CameraInfo(); android.hardware.Camera.getCameraInfo(cameraId, info); int rotation = activity.getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay() .getRotation(); int degrees = 360; /*switch (rotation) { case Surface.ROTATION_0: degrees = 0; break; case Surface.ROTATION_90: degrees = 90; break; case Surface.ROTATION_180: degrees = 180; break; case Surface.ROTATION_270: degrees = 270; break; }*/ int result; if (info.facing == Camera.CameraInfo.CAMERA_FACING_FRONT) { result = (info.orientation + degrees) % 360; result = (360 - result) % 360; // compensate the mirror } else { // back-facing result = (info.orientation - degrees + 360) % 360; } camera.setDisplayOrientation(result); } @Override protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); //releaseMediaRecorder(); // if you are using MediaRecorder, release it first releaseCamera(); // release the camera immediately on pause event } private void releaseCamera(){ if (mCamera != null){ mCamera.release(); // release the camera for other applications mCamera = null; } } public void startFaceDetection(){ // Try starting Face Detection Camera.Parameters params = mCamera.getParameters(); // start face detection only *after* preview has started if (params.getMaxNumDetectedFaces() > 0){ // camera supports face detection, so can start it: mCamera.startFaceDetection(); } } CameraPreview.java public class CameraPreview extends SurfaceView implements SurfaceHolder.Callback { private SurfaceHolder mHolder; private Camera mCamera; private String TAG; private List<Size> mSupportedPreviewSizes; public CameraPreview(Context context, Camera camera) { super(context); mCamera = camera; // Install a SurfaceHolder.Callback so we get notified when the // underlying surface is created and destroyed. mHolder = getHolder(); mHolder.addCallback(this); // deprecated setting, but required on Android versions prior to 3.0 mHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_PUSH_BUFFERS); } public void surfaceCreated(SurfaceHolder holder) { // The Surface has been created, now tell the camera where to draw the preview. try { mCamera.setPreviewDisplay(holder); mCamera.setDisplayOrientation(90); mCamera.startPreview(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.d(TAG, "Error setting camera preview: " + e.getMessage()); } } public void surfaceDestroyed(SurfaceHolder holder) { // empty. • iPhone: how to use performSelector:onThread:withObject:waitUntilDone: method?

    - by Michael Kessler
    Hi all, I am trying to use a separate thread for working with some API. The problem is that I am not able to use performSelector:onThread:withObject:waitUntilDone: method with a thread that I' instantiated for this. My code: @interface MyObject : NSObject { NSThread *_myThread; } @property(nonatomic, retain) NSThread *myThread; @end @implementation MyObject @synthesize myThread = _myThread; - (NSThread *)myThread { if (_myThread == nil) { NSThread *myThreadTemp = [[NSThread alloc] init]; [myThreadTemp start]; self. myThread = myThreadTemp; [myThreadTemp release]; } return _myThread; } - (id)init { if (self = [super init]) { [self performSelector:@selector(privateInit:) onThread:[self myThread] withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; } return self; } - (void)privateInit:(id)object { NSLog(@"MyObject - privateInit start"); } - (void)dealloc { [_myThread release]; _myThread = nil; [super dealloc]; } @end "MyObject - privateInit start" is never printed. What am I missing? I tried to instantiate the thread with target and selector, tried to wait for method execution completion (waitUntilDone:YES). Nothing helps. UPDATE: I don't need this multithreading for separating costly operations to another thread. In this case I could use the performSelectorInBackground as mentioned in few answers. The main reason for this separate thread is the need to perform all the actions in the API (TTS by Loquendo) from one single thread. Meaning that I have to create an instance of the TTS object and call methods on that object from the same thread all the time.

  • c# Named Pipe Asynchronous Peeking

    - by KJ Tsanaktsidis
    Hey all, I need to find a way to be notified when a System.IO.Pipe.NamedPipeServerStream opened in asynchronous mode has more data available for reading on it- a WaitHandle would be ideal. I cannot simply use BeginRead() to obtain such a handle because it's possible that i might be signaled by another thread which wants to write to the pipe- so I have to release the lock on the pipe and wait for the write to be complete, and NamedPipeServerStream doesnt have a CancelAsync method. I also tried calling BeginRead(), then calling the win32 function CancelIO on the pipe if the thread gets signaled, but I don't think this is an ideal solution because if CancelIO is called just as data is arriving and being processed, it will be dropped- I still wish to keep this data, but process it at a later time, after the write. I suspect the win32 function PeekNamedPipe might be useful but i'd like to avoid having to continuously poll for new data with it. In the likley event that the above text is a bit unclear, here's roughly what i'd like to be able to do... NamedPipeServerStream pipe; ManualResetEvent WriteFlag; //initialise pipe lock (pipe) { //I wish this method existed WaitHandle NewDataHandle = pipe.GetDataAvailableWaithandle(); Waithandle[] BreakConditions = new Waithandle[2]; BreakConditions[0] = NewDataHandle; BreakConditions[1] = WriteFlag; int breakcode = WaitHandle.WaitAny(BreakConditions); switch (breakcode) { case 0: //do a read on the pipe break; case 1: //break so that we release the lock on the pipe break; } }

  • Subclassing UINavigationBar ... how do I use it in UINavigationController?

    - by funkadelic
    Hi, I wanted to subclass UINavigationBar (to set a custom background image & text color) and use that for all the navigation bars in my app. Looking at the API docs for UINavigationController, it looks like navigationBar is read-only: @property(nonatomic, readonly) UINavigationBar *navigationBar Is there a way to actually use a custom UINavigationBar in my UIViewControllers? I know that other apps have done custom navigation bars, like flickr: Here is my UINavigationBar subclass: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface MyNavigationBar : UINavigationBar <UINavigationBarDelegate> { } @end the implementation #import "MyNavigationBar.h" @implementation MyNavigationBar - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { // Initialization code } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // override the standard background with our own custom one UIImage *image = [[UIImage imageNamed:@"navigation_bar_bgd.png"] retain]; [image drawInRect:rect]; [image release]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark UINavigationDelegate Methods - (void)navigationController:(UINavigationController *)navigationController willShowViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController animated:(BOOL)animated{ // use the title of the passed in view controller NSString *title = [viewController title]; // create our own UILabel with custom color, text, etc UILabel *titleView = [[UILabel alloc] init]; [titleView setFont:[UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:18]]; [titleView setTextColor:[UIColor blackColor]]; titleView.text = title; titleView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [titleView sizeToFit]; viewController.navigationItem.titleView = titleView; [titleView release]; viewController.navigationController.navigationBar.tintColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.1 green:0.2 blue:0.3 alpha:0.8]; } - (void)navigationController:(UINavigationController *)navigationController didShowViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController animated:(BOOL)animated{ } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end I know that I can use a category to change the background image, but i still want to be able to set the text color of the navigation bar title @implementation UINavigationBar (CustomImage) - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed: @"navigation_bar_bgd.png"]; [image drawInRect:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.frame.size.width, self.frame.size.height)]; } @end any suggestions or other solutions? I basically want to create a light background and dark text like Flickr's app navigation bars

  • iPhone mapView / mapKit using removeAnnotation & addAnnotation results in memory leak?

    - by user266618
    To update the location of a GPS indicator on mapView... [mapView removeAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; [myGpsAnnotation release]; myGpsAnnotation = nil; myGpsAnnotation = [[MapLocationAnnotation alloc] initWithCoordinate:region.center annotationType:MapAnnotationTypeGps title:MAP_ANNOTATION_TYPE_GPS]; [mapView addAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; ...I see net memory slowly climbing in Instruments (simulator). No "Leak" blip, but "Net Bytes" and "# Net" slowly incrementing... unless this code is commented out. So I'm 100% certain this is the offending code. BUT if I do the following... [mapView removeAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; [myGpsAnnotation release]; myGpsAnnotation = nil; myGpsAnnotation = [[MapLocationAnnotation alloc] initWithCoordinate:region.center annotationType:MapAnnotationTypeGps title:MAP_ANNOTATION_TYPE_GPS]; [mapView addAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; [mapView removeAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; [mapView addAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; [mapView removeAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; [mapView addAnnotation:myGpsAnnotation]; ...then the "Net Bytes" and "# Net" increase much faster. Is it possible this isn't my mistake, and I'm trying to track down a leak in MapKit? Am I really leaking memory? Again, nothing appears under "Leaks", but then I don't see why Net values would be continually climbing. Thanks for any help, -Gord

  • Calculating File size before download - Downloading NSURLConnection Slider timing

    - by sagar
    Ok ! Coming to the point directly. What I want to do is explained as follows. I have an url of MP3 file. ( for example Sound File ) Now, When user starts application. Download should start & for that I have implemented following methods. -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSURL *url=[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://xyz.pqr.com/abc.mp3"]; NSURLRequest *req=[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url cachePolicy:NSURLCacheStorageNotAllowed timeoutInterval:120]; NSURLConnection *con=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:req delegate:self startImmediately:YES]; if(con){ myWebData=[[NSMutableData data] retain]; } else { // [MainHandler performSelector:@selector(targetSelector:) withObject:nil]; } } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { NSLog(@"%@",@"connection established"); [myWebData setLength: 0]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { NSLog(@"%@",@"connection receiving data"); [myWebData appendData:data]; } -(void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"%@",@"connection failed"); [connection release]; // [AlertViewHandler showAlertWithErrorMessage:@"Sorry, there is no network connection. Please check your network and try again."]; // [self parserDidEndDocument:nil]; } -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; } Now, Above methods work perfectly for downloading. But missing points are as follows. I can not get the exact size which is going to be downloaded. ( means I want to know what is the size of file - which is going to be download )

  • How to change the border color of a Grouped UITableView

    - by ctpenrose
    This concerns iPhoneOS-sdk-3.2 I am having difficulty changing the border color of a grouped UITableView. I can change the cell background color, separator color, text color, quite easily now, and the rounded corners clip correctly, even when highlighted with whatever colors I have chosen. However the surrounding border remains infuriatingly gray despite many different attempts. I have read all of the related posts I can find via Google, let alone stackoverflow. I have tried both a programmatic and xib-based solution and both provide the same results. I will share the programmatic version below: I have a UIViewController subclass rather than a UITableViewController subclass to act as a UITableView delegate -- I chose this route as I am coding on the iPad and UITableViewController reportedly takes over the whole screen. loadView method of my UIViewController subclass: - (void) loadView { self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; [self.view release]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; // add and configure UITableView CGRect tableViewRect = CGRectMake(0., 0., 256., 768.); myTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:tableViewRect style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; // set the tableview delegate to this object and the datasource to the datasource which has already been set myTableView.delegate = self; myTableView.dataSource = self; myTableView.sectionIndexMinimumDisplayRowCount=1; myTableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; myTableView.separatorColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; myTableView.separatorStyle = UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleSingleLine; myTableView.opaque = NO; // add the table view to our background view [self.view addSubview:myTableView]; [myTableView release]; }

  • How load WebView with another URL when navigated through tab bar viewController

    - by TechFusion
    Hello, I have created window based application, root controller as Tab bar controller. WebView is being loaded in Tab bar interfaced ViewController's View.WebView is created using IB.WebView object declared in ViewController as per below. //ViewController.h @interface ViewController:UIViewController{ IBOutlet UIWebview *Webview; } @property(nonatomic,retain)IBOutlet UIWebview *Webview; @end I am calling [WebView loadrequest] method in -viewDidLoad method and stopLoading will be called in -viewWillDisappear method. I am again reload it in -viewWillAppear:animated method to load it again when tab bar is pressed. //ViewController.m @implementation viewcontroller @synthesize Webview; -(void)viewDidLoad{ [super viewDidLoad]; [self.Webview loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"www.apple.com"]]]; } -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated{ [super viewWillAppear:animated]; [self.Webview reload]; } -(void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated{ [super viewWillDisappear:animated]; [self.Webview stopLoading]; } I am releasing WebView in -ViewDidUnload method -(void)viewDidUnload{ [super viewDidUnload]; [Webview release]; } -(void)dealloc{ [Webview release]; [super dealloc]; } Does Webview released correctly ? Here how to kill connection with URL when ViewWillDisappear method called ? How to load View with Different URL then it's loaded in -viewDidLoad method when ViewController interfaced tab is pressed ? Means if naviagated from one tab to another that ViewController interface tab which has WebView should load request with another URL. Does it correct to call [self.Webview loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"www.stackoverflow.com"]]]; this method again in -viewWillAppear:animated method to load with another URL ? Thanks,

  • UIBarButtonItem with custom image and no border

    - by mongeta
    Hello, I want to create a UIBarButtonItem with a custom image, but I don't want the border that iPhone adds, as my Image has a special border. It's the same as the back button but a forward button. This App is for an inHouse project, so I don't care if Apple reject or approves it or likes it :-) If I use the initWithCustomView:v property of the UIBarButtonItem, I can do it: UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"right.png"]; UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [button setBackgroundImage: [image stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:7.0 topCapHeight:0.0] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button setBackgroundImage: [[UIImage imageNamed: @"right_clicked.png"] stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:7.0 topCapHeight:0.0] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; button.frame= CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, image.size.width, image.size.height); [button addTarget:self action:@selector(AcceptData) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; UIView *v=[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, image.size.width, image.size.height) ]; [v addSubview:button]; UIBarButtonItem *forward = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:v]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem= forward; [v release]; [image release]; This works, but if I have to repeat this process in 10 views, this is not DRY. I suppose I have to subclass, but what ? NSView ? UIBarButtonItem ? thanks, regards,

  • UIImagePickerController dismissModalViewController

    - by Deepak Sharma
    I am trying to invoke UIImagePickerController to select a movie on iPhone 3GS and when the movie is selected, i just dismiss it and present MyViewController modally with a configured delay of 1.0 seconds. What I notice is 10% of the times, presentModalViewController on MyViewController does nothing whereas it works 90% of the times. I want to understand why is this behavior and what is the remedy. Here is the sample code: (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { NSURL *videoURL = nil; NSString *mediaType = [info objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerMediaType]; if ([mediaType isEqualToString:@"public.movie"]) { videoURL = [info objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerMediaURL]; } picker.delegate = nil; [[picker parentViewController] dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [self performSelector:@selector(launchMyViewController:) withObject:nil afterDelay:1.0]; } -(void) launchMyViewController:(id) obj { MyViewController *myCtrl = [[MyViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MyViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle] controller:self]; [self presentModalViewController:myCtrl animated:YES]; [myCtrl release]; NSLog(NSStringFromClass([self.modalViewController class])); [path release]; } I have put NSLog statement to print the self.modalViewController class name and what I notice is that 10% of the times when myCtrl is not fired modally, the self.modalViewController.class is UIImagePickerController. Otherwise, the self.modalViewController.class is MyViewController. I want to know why is the behavior so unpredictable and what is the workaround or other way to achieve the same thing I intend.

  • Failed to set the initialPlaybackTime for a MPMoviePlayerController when recreating it in the second

    - by vicky
    Hi, everyone. It's really wired. When at the first time a MPMoviePlayerController (e.g., theMovie) is created, its initialPlaybackTime can be set successfully. But when theMoive is released and re-create a new MPMoviePlayerController, its intialPlaybackTime can not be set correctly, actually the movie always plays from the start. The code is as follows. -(void)initAndPlayMovie:(NSURL *)movieURL { MPMoviePlayerController *theMovie = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:movieURL]; // create a notification for moviePlaybackFinish [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(moviePlayBackDidFinish:) name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification object:theMovie]; theMovie.initialPlaybackTime = 15; [theMovie setScalingMode:MPMovieScalingModeAspectFill]; [theMovie play];} -(void) moviePlayBackDidFinish:(NSNotification*)notification { MPMoviePlayerController * theMovie = [notification object]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification object:theMovie]; [theMovie release]; [self initAndPlayMovie:[self getMovieURL]]; } With the above code, when the viewcontroller did load and run initAndPlayMovie, the movie starts to play from 15 seconds, but when it plays finished or "Done" is pushed, a new theMovie is created and starts to play from 0 second. Does anybody know what happened with the initialPlaybackTime property of MPMoviePlayerController? And whenever you reload the viewController where the above code is (presentModalViewController from a parent viewcontroller), the movie can start from any playback time. I am really confused what's the difference of the MPMoviePlayerController registration methods between the viewcontroller load and the recreating it after release. Need your help! Thank you!

  • Blind down animation on CALayer using a mask

    - by dgjones346
    Hi there, I want to create a "blind down" effect on an image so the image "blinds down" and appears. Sort of like this JavaScript transition: http://wiki.github.com/madrobby/scriptaculous/effect-blinddown The mask is setup correctly because if I manually change it's position it hides and reveals the image behind it, but it doesn't animate! • How to download a wav file from the web to a location on iPhone using NSFileHandle and NSURLConnecti

    - by Jinru
    Hi all, I want to download a wav file from a web service, cache it on the iphone and playback it using AVAudioPlayer. Using NSFileHandle and NSURLConnection seems a viable solution when dealing with relatively large files. However, after running the app in the simulator I don't see any saved file under the defined directory (NSHomeDirectory/tmp). Below is my basic code. Where am I doing wrong? Any thoughts are appreciated! #define TEMP_FOLDER [NSHomeDirectory() stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"tmp"] - (void)downloadToFile:(NSString*)name { NSString* filePath = [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/%@.wav", TEMP_FOLDER, name] retain]; self.localFilePath = filePath; // set up FileHandle self.audioFile = [[NSFileHandle fileHandleForWritingAtPath:localFilePath] retain]; [filePath release]; // Open the connection NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:self.webURL cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0]; NSURLConnection* connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark NSURLConnection methods - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData*)data { [self.audioFile writeData:data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError*)error { NSLog(@"Connection failed to downloading sound: %@", [error description]); } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; [audioFile closeFile]; }

  • How do I use VS2010 One-Click Publish (MsDeploy) to deploy remotely from the command line?

    - by David
    On the remote web server I have installed the remote service http://x.x.x.x/MsDeployAgentService. If I use the Web Application Project's Publish command in VS2010 I can successfully publish to this remote web server and update a specific IIS website. What I want to do now is execute this capability from the command line. I am guessing it is two steps. First build the web application project using the relevant build configuration: msbuild "C:\MyApplication\MyWebApplication.csproj" /T:Package /P:Configuration=Release Then issue the MsDeploy command to have it publish/sync with the remove IIS server: msdeploy -verb:sync -source:package="C:\MyApplication\obj\Release\Package\MyWebApplication.zip" -dest:contentPath="My Production Website", computerName=http://x.x.x.x/MsDeployAgentService, username=adminuser,password=adminpassword Unfortunately I get an the error: Error: (10/05/2010 3:52:02 PM) An error occurred when the request was processed on the remote computer. Error: Source (sitemanifest) and destination (contentPath) are not compatible for the given operation. Error count: 1. I have tried a number of different combinations for destination provider but no joy :( Has anyone managed to replicate VS2010 Web Application Project "One Click" Publish from the command line?

  • Apple Push Notification-Unable to callback didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken

    - by Shailesh Kanzariya
    I have been simply trying to get deviceToken from my iPhone application using Apple Push Notification Service. I don't have any implementation on server side for the time being. I have created APP Id, got SSL certificate, Provision Profile with APN and calling - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { //view init and add sub view to window [[UIApplication sharedApplication] registerForRemoteNotificationTypes:UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert | UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge | UIRemoteNotificationTypeSound]; } method. When I execute the application it pop ups action box to allow Push Notification (means my request for APN registration is working) but my callback is not executed. Neither didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken nor didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError is called? can anybody help me to resolve the issue? Following are my callbacs for reference. - (void)application:(UIApplication *)app didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError:(NSError *)err { UIAlertView *myAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"APNClient" message:@"Entered into Error Method" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [myAlert show]; [myAlert release]; NSLog(@"Error in registration. Error: %@", err); } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)app didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken:(NSData *)devToken { UIAlertView *myAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"APNClient" message:@"Got the deviceToken..!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [myAlert show]; [myAlert release]; }

  • Xcode 3.2: Build & Analyze never finds any issues

    - by GamingHorror
    I've used the Clang Static Analyzer from the command line before. I wanted to try Xcode's built-in version via Build & Analyze. I never get any negative results even though i specially prepared my code with very obvious issues Clang was always able to point out: // over-releasing an object: [label release]; [label release]; // uninitialized vars, allocating but not freeing an object NSString* str; int number; CCLabel* newLabel = [[CCLabel alloc] initWithString:str fontName:str fontSize:number]; [newLabel setPosition:CGPointZero]; The result is always the same: a green checkbox, no issues. I read that C++ code can cause issues. I'm running this with cocos2d that includes box2d. Could this be a cause? Did anyone get results from Build & Analyze with the cocos2d engine? What else could it be? I also tried enabling the Static Analyzer Build Settings and then Build but the result was the same. I have restarted Xcode, cleaned all targets and emptied Xcode caches to no avail.

  • How can I use removeFromSuperView and dismissModalViewControllerAnimated at same time ?

    - by srikanth rongali
    I have a UIViewController *view1 and another UIViewController *view2; I used presentModelViewController to navigate from view1 to view2. -(void)function:(id)sender { NSLog(@"The libraryFunction entered"); LibraryController *libraryController = [[LibraryController alloc]init]; [self presentModalViewController:libraryController animated:YES]; } I have another view UITableViewController *tableView; I added it to view2 as a subView. -(void)viewDidLoad { RootViewController *rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; UINavigationController *aNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:rootViewController]; self.navController = aNavigationController; [aNavigationController release]; [rootViewController release]; navController.view.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 460); [self.view addSubview:navController.view]; } In RootViewController.m I have - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Close" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(close:)]; } -(void)close:(id)sender { [self.view removeFromSuperview]; [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } WhenI touch close button I need to return the view1. So, I removed the tableView by using removeFromSuperView. But, I am not able to get to the first view. I do not get where to use - (void)dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:(BOOL)animated; to navigate to first view1 where I have started ? How can I do this ? Thank You.

  • Dismissing iPad UIPopoverController from within it's content controller

    - by joshholat
    So I have a popover with a button in it. When that button is pushed, I want the popover to go away. It seems easy enough, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. The code I use to show the popover is below: AddCategoryViewController* content = [[AddCategoryViewController alloc] init]; UIPopoverController* aPopover = [[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:content]; aPopover.delegate = self; [content release]; // Store the popover in a custom property for later use. self.addCategoryPopover = aPopover; [aPopover release]; [addCategoryPopover presentPopoverFromBarButtonItem:sender permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionUp animated:YES]; Within the addcategoryviewcontroller, I have: -(IBAction)saveAddCategory:(id)sender { if (rootViewController == nil) rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; [rootViewController.addCategoryPopover dismissPopoverAnimated:YES]; [rootViewController dismissPopover]; } Rootviewcontroller is where the popover is being created from. Unfortunately, neither of those methods work to dismiss it. any help?

  • iPhone UITableView populateing from connectionDidFinishLoading

    - by fourfour
    Hey all. I have been trying for hours to figure this out. I have some JSON from a NSURLConnection. This is working fine and I have parsed it into an array. But I can't seem to get the array out of the connectionDidFinishLoading method. I an am getting (null) in the UITableViewCell method. I am assuming this is a scope of retain issue, but I am so new to ObjC I am not sure what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. -(void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; NSString *responseString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [responseData release]; SBJSON *json = [[SBJSON alloc] init]; NSDictionary *results = [json objectWithString:responseString]; self.dataArray = [results objectForKey:@"data"]; NSMutableArray *tableArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:nil]; for (NSString *element in dataArray) { //NSLog(@"%@", [element objectForKey:@"name"]); NSString *tmpString = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:[element objectForKey:@"name"]]; [tableArray addObject:tmpString]; } } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell. //cell.textLabel.text = [self.tableView objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [self.tableArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSLog(@"%@", tableArray); return cell; }

  • UINavigationController crash because of pushing and poping UIViewControllers

    - by Wayne Lo
    My question is related to my discovery of a reason for UINavigationController to crash. So I will tell you about the discovery first. Please bare with me. The issue: I have a UINavigationController as as subview of UIWindow, a rootViewController class and a custom MyViewController class. The following steps will get a Exc_Bad_Access, 100% reproducible.: [myNaviationController pushViewController:myViewController_1stInstance animated:YES]; [myNaviationController pushViewController:myViewController_2ndInstance animated:YES]; Hit the left back tapBarItem twice (pop out two of the myViewController instances) to show the rootViewController. After a painful 1/2 day of try and error, I finally figure out the answer but also raise a question. The Solutio: I declared many objects in the .m file as a lazy way of declaring private variables to avoid cluttering the .h file. For instance, #impoart "MyViewController.h" NSMutableString*variable1; @implement ... -(id)init { ... varialbe1=[[NSMutableString alloc] init]; ... } -(void)dealloc { [variable1 release]; } For some reasons, the iphone OS may loose track of these "lazy private" variables memory allocation when myViewController_1stInstance's view is unloaded (but still in the navigation controller's stacks) after loading the view of myViewController_2ndInstance. The first time to tap the back tapBarItem is ok since myViewController_2ndInstance'view is still loaded. But the 2nd tap on the back tapBarItem gave me hell because it tried to dealloc the 2nd instance. Executing [variable release] resulted in Exc_Bad_Access because it pointed randomly (loose pointer). To fix this problem is simple, declare variable1 as a @private in the .h file. Here is my Question: I have been using the "lazy private" variables for quite some time without any issues until they are involved in UINavigationController. Is this a bug in iPhone OS? Or there is a fundamental misunderstanding on my part about Objective C? Please help.

  • OCUnit & NSBundle

    - by kpower
    I created OCUnit test in concordance with "iPhone Development Guide". Here is the class I want to test: // myClass.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface myClass : NSObject { UIImage *image; } @property (readonly) UIImage *image; - (id)initWithIndex:(NSUInteger)aIndex; @end // myClass.m #import "myClass.m" @implementation myClass @synthesize image; - (id)init { return [self initWithIndex:0]; } - (id)initWithIndex:(NSUInteger)aIndex { if ((self = [super init])) { NSString *name = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"image_%i", aIndex]; NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:name ofType:@"png"]; image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path]; if (nil == image) { @throw [NSException exceptionWithName:@"imageNotFound" reason:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Image (%@) with path \"%@\" for current index (%i) wasn't found.", [name autorelease], path, aIndex] userInfo:nil]; } [path release]; } return self; } - (void)dealloc { [image release]; [super dealloc]; } @end And my unit-test (LogicTests target): // myLogic.m #import <SenTestingKit/SenTestingKit.h> #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "myClass.h" @interface myLogic : SenTestCase { } - (void)testTemp; @end @implementation myLogic - (void)testTemp { STAssertNoThrow([[myClass alloc] initWithIndex:0], "myClass initialization error"); } @end All necessary frameworks, "myClass.m" and images added to target. But on build I have an error: [[myClass alloc] initWithIndex:0] raised Image (image_0) with path \"(null)\" for current index (0) wasn't found.. myClass initialization error This code (initialization) works fine in application itself (main target) and later displays correct image. I've also checked my project folder (build/Debug-iphonesimulator/LogicTests.octest/) - there are LogicTests, Info.plist and necessary image files (image_0.png is one of them). What's wrong?

  • Cocoa threading question.

    - by Steve918
    I would like to implement an observer pattern in Objective-C where the observer implements an interface similar to SKPaymentTransactionObserver and the observable class just extends my base observable. My observable class looks something like what is below. Notice I'm making copies of the observers before enumeration to avoid throwing an exception . I've tried adding an NSLock around add observers and notify observers, but I run into a deadlock. What would be the proper way to handle concurrency when observers are being added as notifications are being sent? @implementation Observable -(void)notifyObservers:(SEL)selector { @synchronized(self) { NSSet* observer_copy = [observers copy]; for (id observer in observer_copy) { if([observer respondsToSelector: selector]) { [observer performSelector: selector]; } } [observer_copy release]; } } -(void)notifyObservers:(SEL)selector withObject:(id)arg1 withObject:(id)arg2 { @synchronized(self) { NSSet* observer_copy = [observers copy]; for (id observer in observer_copy) { if([observer respondsToSelector: selector]) { [observer performSelector: selector withObject: arg1 withObject: arg2]; } } [observer_copy release]; } } -(void)addObserver:(id)observer { @synchronized(self) { [observers addObject: observer]; } } -(void)removeObserver:(id)observer { @synchronized(self) { [observers removeObject: observer]; } }
