• Detect frameworks and/or CMS utilized on websites in Firefox

  I'm redesigning the website for my academic library and am examining other sites to determine to identify the technologies used. Things like: Web frameworks Javascript frameworks Server-side technology Content management system Now I've had some real success in Firefox using plugins like Wappalyzer, Firebug, and the DOM Inspector. But some sites just don't display any of the info. I'm looking for using these tools, especially it seems it an enterprise-level CMS is being used. Does anyone know of any other tools to detect this kind of data? Also with Firebug & the DOM Inspector, there is a lot of info. displayed and I wondered if there was a way to derive the presence of server-side technologies, CMS's, etc. within certain elements of a web page? Also, if this question is more relevant to another Stack Exchange site, please let me know and I'll post it there instead. Much thanks, Jason

• An Approach to Incremental Conversion

  It is common for Oracle Enterprise Taxation and Policy Management (ETPM) customers to implement in multiple phases.  This results in a need for incremental conversion, where part of the data in is production and they are now adding new data.  Some of the new data can be new persons, accounts and their children, but some may be new tax types for existing taxpayers.  This document addresses a methodology for adding incremental data into ETPM.  It does not address every possible data scenario, but offers a path to achieving incremental conversion without the need for code changes.    https://blogs.oracle.com/tax/resource/IncrementalConversion.pdf

• How can we distribute a client app to other non-US businesses?

  I'm working on an app which acts as a client for our web service. We sell this service to businesses, and we want to distribute the app to their employees for free. The app will be customised for each client. If we were in the US, my understanding is that we'd ask them to enrol in the volume purchasing program, and submit a version of our app for each business, for enterprise distribution at the free price point However, the businesses aren't all in the US, so they can't enrol in the VPP. They have thousands of employees, so promo codes won't be sufficient. What are our alternatives?

• What tasks should an Architect NOT do or limit to be effective?

  There are plenty of questions/answers about what an architect does, but what should someone in an Architect role NOT do? What are the boundaries/limits to maintain to be an effective Architect? I'm thinking here of Architect vs Developer and Architect vs Project Manager For example, I'm finding myself in a role where my title is Architect but I am also the coding/development lead and project manager on multiple small enterprise projects. I'm struggling with all the task switching and now I want to limit task switching. Trying to wear every hat just isn't working. What tasks should an Architect not do at all? What tasks should an Architect limit? I do think an Architect needs to keep coding, but how to define an appropriate limit for coding work?

Opitz Consulting ist einer der Vertriebspartner, die in Deutschland mit mindestens fünf Spezialisierungen das Platin-Level erreicht haben. Sich innerhalb eines Jahres in den Bereichen BI, Database, Enterprise Linux, Real Application Clusters und SOA zu spezialisieren, war keine Kinderspiel, verrät Michael Page, Prokurist bei Opitz Consulting in Interview mit "ChannelPartner": Etwa 15 Prozent seiner Arbeitszeit hat er 2010 darauf verwendet. Ob der nächste Schritt das Diamant-Level sein soll, ließ Page offen. Sicher ist jedoch, dass für den führenden Projektspezialisten im Java-, SOA- und Oracle Markt weitere Spezialisierungen anstehen, darunter Datenbank-Performance-Tuning, Virtualisierung und Data Warehouse. There are many questions here asking how to identify components of what is essentially a professional programmer - how do you identify or communicate expertise, specialization, high quality work, excellent skills in relation to the profession. I am specifically looking for methods to communicate a specific component, and I quote from wikipedia: A high standard of professional ethics, behavior and work activities while carrying out one's profession (as an employee, self-employed person, career, enterprise, business, company, or partnership/associate/colleague, etc.). The professional owes a higher duty to a client, often a privilege of confidentiality, as well as a duty not to abandon the client just because he or she may not be able to pay or remunerate the professional. Often the professional is required to put the interest of the client ahead of his own interests. How can I most efficiently communicate my professionalism, in the spirit of the quote above, to current and potential clients and employers?

• What should I learn to create web-services like ones listed? [closed]

  I am very inspired by websites like imgur, dropbox, screencloud, maybe w3schools...you get my point. Fresh web-services with some new idea, not big portals but something simple yet useful and used by many people, something simple and new. What aspects of my developer career should I focus to be able to build such things on my own if I have enough ideas? (Sure if it ends up being popular I can get more developers to help me and so on, but at first I can do it alone, right?) I am currently a PHP web-developer, I know HTML+CSS+JS+AJAX+JQuery. But even like that there still is web-design, there are a lot of paths: websites for enterprise, startups, webservices, entertainment websites and serious bank/document flow systems, frameworks used for big systems, different approaches for little ones, etcetcetc. Which path should I take to be able to start my own projects like the ones that I listed on top which inspire me?
