  • Reducing Dimension For SVM in Sensor Network

    Hi Everyone, I am looking for some suggestions on a problem that I am currently facing. I have a set of sensor say S1-S100 which is triggered when some event E1-E20 is performed. Assume, normally E1 triggers S1-S20, E2 triggers S15-S30, E3 triggers S20-s50 etc and E1-E20 are completely independent events. Occasionally an event E might trigger any other unrelated sensor. I am using ensemble of 20 svm to analyze each event separately. My features are sensor frequency F1-F100, number of times each sensor is triggered and few other related features. I am looking for a technique that can reduce the dimensionality of the sensor feature(F1-F100)/ or some techniques that encompasses all of the sensor and reduces the dimension too(i was looking for some information theory concept for last few days) . I dont think averaging, maximization is a good idea as I risk loosing information(it did not give me good result). Can somebody please suggest what am I missing here? A paper or some starting idea...   • Win XP cannot connect (or see) my wifi network, but can see others

    since yesterday I have a strange wifi problem with my pc. I have a wireless linksys router setup that worked fine for many months, now since yesterday my pc won't connect to the wifi signal anymore. The strange thing is, my macbook pro still connects fine. SSID is broadcasting, but my windows XP doens't see it, I have all signal modes set to "auto". Windows XP sees all my neighbours wifi networks, so the wifi card isn't broken or anything. Any idea what can be wrong here?

  • Python - network buffer handling question...

    Hi, I want to design a game server in python. The game will mostly just be passing small packets filled with ints, strings, and bytes stuffed into one message. As I'm using a different language to write the game, a normal packet would be sent like so: Writebyte(buffer, 5); // Delimit type of message Writestring(buffer, "Hello"); Sendmessage(buffer, socket); As you can see, it writes the bytes to the buffer, and sends the buffer. Is there any way to read something like this in python? I am aware of the struct module, and I've used it to pack things, but I've never used it to actually read something with mixed types stuck into one message. Thanks for the help.

  • Solution for distributing MANY simple network tasks?

    I would like to create some sort of a distributed setup for running a ton of small/simple REST web queries in a production environment. For each 5-10 related queries which are executed from a node, I will generate a very small amount of derived data, which will need to be stored in a standard relational database (such as PostgreSQL). What platforms are built for this type of problem set? The nature, data sizes, and quantities seem to contradict the mindset of Hadoop. There are also more grid based architectures such as Condor and Sun Grid Engine, which I have seen mentioned. I'm not sure if these platforms have any recovery from errors though (checking if a job succeeds). What I would really like is a FIFO type queue that I could add jobs to, with the end result of my database getting updated. Any suggestions on the best tool for the job?

    Hi, I have a has and belongs to many relation between User and Article models, and I would like to link them even if an article if not hosted on the same database then a user. For example, If an article exists at foo.com/articles/3 and a user exists at bar.com/users/1, If would like to be able to do from foo.com web interface or bar.com web interface this kind of query: a_user.articles (or an_article.users). I think this can be possible adding a field like "url" in users and articles tables. But I don't know how to process for ActiveRecord. My Article model looks like this: class Article < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :users end Is there yet some example of project using this kind of relation over internet? Many thanks

  • How to implement long lived network connection in dotnet

    The idea is to have a windows service, that clients can connect to (tcp, wcf, remoting), and when the data changes in the windows service, send the changes to the clients. An example of this would be a stock pricing server, and when the price changes for instruments, send the changes to the client. Wcf does have streaming, but is that just for streaming one big message response or can it be used for lots of small messages ? Is sockets the only way to achieve this ?

  • Network error during uninstallation

    Hi, We are using WiX to create a setup. The installation works fine, but during uninstallation an error says that the [FileName].msi is missing in C:\Windows\Installer and the setup starts rolling back. It is not reproduced in all the machines. It happens only in few machines. Could someone please give a solution to this ? What may be the reason that this happens only in 5 machines out of some 100 machines ? Thanks and Regards, Varun

    Hey, I've been writing a networking server for a while now in C++ and have come to the stage to start looking for a way to properly and easily handle all packets. I am so far that I can figure out what kind of packet it is, but now I need to figure out how to get the needed data to the handler functions. I had the following in mind: Have a map of function pointers with the opcode as key and the function pointer as value Have all these functions have 2 arguments, packet and ObjectAccessor ObjectAccessor class contains various functions to fetch various items such as users and alike Perhaps pass the user's guid too so we can fetch it from the objectaccessor I'd like to know the various implementations others have come up with, so please comment on this idea and reply with your own implementations. I'm currently implementing a proof-of-concept application in scala, and I'm trying to work out how I might produce a slightly more idiomatic scala interface.     Is it possible to open a curl like object in MySQL? What I would like to do is create procedure which would check to see if a certain value is returned from a specific URL like http://example.com/inschedule?id=200&time=20m. The returned result would be a simple string like 1 or 0. I know it is better to have a script do this by putting a entry into a table etc. However, it would be much less complex for me to be able to do it this way. Thanks

  • Ubuntu Wired network(ethernet does not work)

    It was working just fine, until the other day I yanked it out. The wireless works just fine on the same router. If I login to a windows 7 instance on this dual boot laptop then the ehternet works just fine. So it's not a hardware, cable or router issue. The card even gets an ip, but I can't connect to the internet. Here are the details from route, iptables, ifconfig, ping etc. Any ideas?   • Uniquely identifying mobile devices over a network for webforms

    I'm designing a system for mobile devices that can be assigned only to one job at a time. So I need to be able to know which mobile device is being used by accessing it's own unique static IP address or its device ID. I don't want to assign an ID myself for every machine that comes in which is why a static IP would work great. However, in trying to retrieve the client ip address I'm retrieving the wireless router's ip or some other ip which is not the mobile device's ip. I want to store that ip in a table and control which jobs are assigned to it. How can I accomplish this? I've tried the following but I'm getting the wireless ip: var hostEntry = Dns.GetHostEntry(Dns.GetHostName()); var ip = ( from addr in hostEntry.AddressList where addr.AddressFamily.ToString() == "InterNetwork" select addr.ToString() ).FirstOrDefault(); I'd rather not set a cookie if there exists a better alternative.     Hi everybody, I've recently started using FDT, for a while I was using FlashDevelop, it had a really handy feature in Compiler options where you can set UseNetworkServices to false which would stop the compiled swf from connecting to the internet and became very useful for running standalone flash apps without security warnings when loading in an external xml file etc. Does anybody know if FDT has a similar function? If there isn't a way, then no worries, I can compile the project in Flash Develop, however it would be best if I can do it from FDT. Cheers guys, Will

  • Get machine name for remote computer on local network

    Hi, I've 2 machines with names Comp1, Comp2. There is a DNS name for them, that mask them as one, let say DNSName. I get IP addresses for both machines via Dns.GetHostEntry("DNSName"). But when I try get Dns.GetHostEntry(ipAddress) entry.HostName always contains DNSName. I found some way to get name through WMI. But our policy doesn't allow WMI on remote machines. I can do parsing of nbstat -a output, but I would like to do some clean aproach to this. Is there some way?

  • Possible to use Javascript to access the client side's network(knowingly)

    I recently found an exploit in my router to basically give me root access. The catch? There is a nonce hidden form value that is randomly generated and must be sent in for it to work that makes it difficult to do "easily" So basically I'm wanting to do something like this in javascript: get http://192.168.1.254/blah use a regex or similar to extract the nonce value put the nonce value into a hidden field in the current page submit the form by POST to http://192.168.1.254/blah complete with the nonce value and other form values I want to send in. Is this at all possible using only HTML and Javascript? I'm open to things like "must save HTML file locally and then open", which I'm thinking is one way around the cross domain policy. But anyway, is this at all possible? I'm hoping for this to be able to run from at least Firefox and Chrome. The audience for this is those with some technical know how.

    I'm trying to install .NET 3.5 on my Windows 8 box and it keeps throwing Error 0x800f0922 at me. From what I've read on answers.microsoft.com and StackOverflow I gather the easiest way to fix this is to perform a system refresh, however this will remove all software I've installed from discs. I've just moved house, so I'd rather not do that as I don't know where all the installation media actually are for a lot of my software, so if possible I'd prefer to track down where the problem is actually occurring. (Also, I have a LOT of software installed. It'd take me a long time to reinstall it all, and I unfortunately haven't got that time.)   • Why does only "network" appear in Startup Disks on my Mac?

    I have a Linux dual boot setup with my Mac (with Leopard). When I open System Preferences Startup Disk I only see "Network Startup" and no HDD or BOOTCAMP as expected. So now, annoyingly, because "Network Startup" is the only option, it tries to start using the network (the flashing globe) for a short while rather than booting directly into Mac OS X. Is there a way to either fix Startup Disk or manually hack this?

  • How do I add a broadcast IP to the loopback interface under os/x using ifconfig when my machine has no network?

    I'm new to advanced network administration and I would like to do some testing with UDP broadcasting, so I need a broadcast address on my loopback interface. The machine is offline, in other words, there is no network. How can I accomplish that through ifconfig without having to buy a switch as one user in the comments suggested. In Linux all i have to do is use 127.255.255.255 and broadcasts work fine without any network or any switch. If I have a network i can just use 255.255.255.255, obviously.
