    I have the following jQuery code $("#dropdown").hover(function() { $(this).stop(true,true).fadeTo('fast',1); $("#options").stop(true,true).slideDown(); }, function() { $(this).delay(1000).stop(true,true).fadeTo('fast',0.1); $("#options").delay(1000).stop(true,true).slideUp(); } ); What I expect to happen is when the mouse leaves #dropdown it will wait 1 second before continuing. This is not happening. What I am trying to achieve, in case there is a better way, is to leave the drop down menu visible for a second or two after moving your mouse and I would also like to prevent the events from happening again to prevent artifacts and "funnies" if you were to move the mouse over and out from the div very quickly

In other words, when the user taps the red pin on the map, is there a way to prevent it from highlighting the pin. Right now the pin turns dark when touched...   • .htaccess - deny downloading of files

    I keep several fonts in the directory "/fonts/" on my server which I then load into my css files via @font-face. However, I want to make sure that people cannot download the file just by simply going to http://www.domain.com/fonts/fontname.ttf. Can I somehow prevent this, and still be able to load the font files into my css files? Because I think putting deny from all into the .htaccess file will even prevent the css files for correctly loading the fonts. I hope this makes sense.

    I'd like to expose a property on a view model that contains a list of objects (from database). I need this collection to be read-only. That is, I want to prevent Add/Remove, etc. But allow the foreach and indexers to work. My intent is to declare a private field holding the editable collection and reference it with a read-only Public Property. As follows public ObservableCollection<foo> CollectionOfFoo { get { return _CollectionOfFoo; } } However, that syntax just prevents changing the reference to the collection. It doesn't prevent add/remove, etc. What is the right way to accomplish this?

  • Persistent SQL Table lock from C#

    I'm trying to create a persistent SQL (SQL Server 2005) lock on a table level. I'm not updating/querying the specified table, but I need to prevent a third party application from updating the locked table as a means to prevent transactions from being posted (the table I wish to lock is the key on their transaction that interferes with my processing). From my experience the table is only locked for the time a specific transaction is taking place. Any ideas? The 3rd party developer has logged this feature as an enhancement, but since they are in the middle of rolling out a major release I can expect to wait at least 6 months for this. I know that this isn't a great solution, since their software will fall over but it is of a critical enough nature that we're willing to live with the consequences.

    I have a menu that is toggled when a user selects a link. The menu has an animation attached, and I want to prevent toggling while the animation is running.   • How do I cancel a text selection after the initial mousedown event?

    I'm trying to implement a pop-up menu based on a click-and-hold, positioned so that a (really) slow click will still trigger the default action, and with the delay set so that a text-selection gesture won't usually trigger the menu. What I can't seem to do is cancel the text-selection in a way that doesn't prevent text-selection in the first place: returning false from the event handler (or calling $(this).preventDefault()) prevents the user from selecting at all, and the obvious $().trigger('mouseup') doesn't doesn't do anything with the selection at all. This is in the general context of a page, not particular to a textarea or other text field. e.stopPropogation() doesn't cancel text-selection. I'm not looking to prevent text selections, but rather to veto them after some short period of time, if certain conditions are met.

We are worried about the decompilation of our product which does have some sort of edge over our competitors in terms of usability and bundled functionality. How can we prevent our software from decompilation, so the business logic of the product remains intact? We have heard about Reflector and other decompilers which makes our code very much vulnerable for copying. Our customer base is not Corporates by medical practitioners who themselves may not do it but our competitors may want to copy/disable licensing so value of our software goes down.     I have a Window set to the height and width of my monitors: var r = System.Drawing.Rectangle.Union( System.Windows.Forms.Screen.AllScreens[0].Bounds, System.Windows.Forms.Screen.AllScreens[1].Bounds ); Height = r.Height; Width = r.Width; This is all fine until I Lock my computer (WIN+L), when I come back the window has resized itself to be on one monitor only. What I want to do is prevent the decrease in size, as I'm drawing on a canvas on the second monitor, and when the resize occurs, this is all lost.. Any thoughts on how I can prevent this? Cheers!

    Any failed ASSERT statements on Windows cause the below debug message to appear and freeze the applications execution. I realise this is expected behaviour but it is running periodically on a headless machine so prevent the unit tests from failing, instead waiting on user input indefinitely. Is there s a registry key or compiler flag I can use to prevent this message box from requesting user input whilst still allowing the test to fail under ASSERT? Basically, I want to do this without modifying any code, just changing compiler or Windows options. Thanks!

    I'm working on a tracking script for a fairly sophisticated CRM for tracking form actions in Google Analytics. I'm trying to balance the desire to track form actions accurately with the need to never prevent a form from not working. Now, I know that doing something like this doesn't work. $('form').submit(function(){ _gaq.push('_trackEvent', 'Form', 'Submit', $(this).attr('action')) }); The DOM unloads before this has a chance to process. So, a lot of sample code recommends something like this: $('form').submit(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); var form = this; _gaq.push('_trackEvent', 'Form', 'Submit', $(this).attr('action')); //...do some other tracking stuff... setTimeout(function(){ form.submit(); }, 400); }); This is reliable in most cases, but it makes me nervous. What if something happens between e.preventDefault();and when I get around to triggering the DOM based submit? I've totally broken the form. I've been poking around some other analytics implementations, and I've noticed something like this: $('form').mousedown(function(){ _gaq.push('_trackEvent', 'Form', 'Submit', $(this).attr('action')); }); $('form').keydown(function(e){ if(e.which===13) //if the keydown is the enter key _gaq.push('_trackEvent', 'Form', 'Submit', $(this).attr('action')); }); Basically, instead of interrupting the form submit, preempting it by assuming that if someone is mousing down or keying down on Enter, than that form is submitted. Obviously, this will result in a certain amount of false positives, but it completely eliminates use of e.preventDefault();, which in my mind eliminates the risk that I might ever prevent a form from successfully submitting. So, my question: Is it possible to take the standard form tracking snippet and prevent it from ever fully preventing the form from submitting? Is the mousedown/keydown alternative viable? Are there any submission cases it may miss? Specifically, are there other ways to end up submitting besides the mouse and the keyboard enter? And will the browser always have time to process javascript before beginning to unload the page?

This way the code would only need to be done for the latest version of the browser, but users could still have the functionality of the older version and not be forced to do major updates? I am sure there will be some major flaws in this, and I would like you to tell me what they are! -Obviously, people may not want this as often auto-updating is frowned upon, however Chrome does it (or at least, they used to); Without a manual check, Chrome will update itself automatically, Google said. If an update is available, it will be downloaded and applied at the next browser restart," Google said. -there is still the problem of getting users from the really old ones onto the any new browsers that have this functionality -To prevent exploits in terms of updates, maybe they could have a 7 day opt-in period before being pushed out to everyone?

    Hi, I'm trying to prevent the back button from working on one of my asp.net mvc pages. I've read a couple of places that if i put "window.history.forward(1);" in my page it will prevent the back button from working on a given page.   • Varnish 3.0.2 and ISPConfig 3.0.4

    I followed the tutorial The Perfect Server - Ubuntu 11.10 [ISPConfig 3] here. I'm running an Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) server with 1024 RAM on Rackspace. I've gone through and updated to ISPConfig 3.0.4. Everything has been working great up to now when I decided to try and install Varnish. Initially I did an install of Varnish by issuing: apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get install varnish Apparently the version that was installed was Varnish 2.x so I went back and added the repositories for packages provided by varnish-cache.org curl http://repo.varnish-cache.org/debian/GPG-key.txt | apt-key add - echo "deb http://repo.varnish-cache.org/ubuntu/ lucid varnish-3.0" >> /etc/apt/sources.list apt-get update apt-get install varnish This updated my version of Varnish to 3.0.2 I then proceeded to make the following changes: vim /etc/default/varnish change DAEMON_OPTS to port 80: vim /etc/apache2/ports.conf NameVirtualHost *:8000 Listen 8000 vim /etc/apache2/sites-available/default <VirtualHost *:8000> vim /etc/apache2/sites-available/ispconfig.vhost Listen 8080 NameVirtualHost *:8080 <VirtualHost _default_:8080> I then proceeded to set my other vhosts to use 8000 (the apache2 port) so with all this set I reset both Apache2 and Varnish to test. I used Firebug in Firefox 11.0 The output from what I see doesn't seem to indicate that Varnish is working completely correct: First of all I see: X-Varnish 1644834493 but I've heard that unless you have two timestamps side by side than it's probably not working correctly so for example I was thinking I might see something like: X-Varnish 1644834493 1644837493 Also if I noticed this in the output which seems to be inconstant: X-Drupal-Cache MISS There are times when it will say HIT as well.... So the question here that I have is I think Varnish is partially working, however, why don't I see two timestamps on X-Varnish like I'm thinking I should and does the output of the screenshot I have look correct? If Varnish isn't working can someone tell me what I might being doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

The second interface eth1 is set to host only networking and VirtualBox has created a vboxnet0 virtual adapter on the host. I've configured vboxnet0 in VirtualBox adapter settings with the following: ip 192.168.21.20 subnet 255.255.255.0 Once the VM guest is running, ifconfig on OSX has vboxnet0 setup as: vboxnet0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 0a:00:27:00:00:00 inet 192.168.21.20 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.21.255 In the guest, eth0 is set to use DHCP, I've statically assigned eth1 to 192.168.21.20 (is this a mistake?): auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 192.168.21.20 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.21.0 broadcast 192.168.21.255 gateway 192.168.21.1 There is no device on 192.168.21.1 - what should I set my gateway to?     So I've already checked through my config file and I really can't see an instance where any tag hasn't been properly closed...but I keep getting this configuration error...Would you mind taking a look through the error and the config file below?   • Connectivity with SQL Server Express 2008 r2 and SQL Server 2000 on same machine

    At first glance this may same a duplicate of Installing both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2008 on the same machine, but it is not. I have SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on the same machine and working fine. My problem lies with connecting to the 2008 R2 server from a remote machine. My connectivity needs to be TCP. The legacy installation or SQL 2000 uses the default port of 1433. The named instance is by default configured to use 'Shared Memory' and is working fine. When I configured the 2008 R2 server to use 1433 (I did not think that thru) the service refused to start becasue 1433 was already in use by the legacy SQL 2000 default instance. Doh! What I want to do is have both servers available simultaneously via TCP. both servers need not be on the same port, put if I cannot run them on the same port, then how do I configure the clients? Is there not some kind of proxy available that can monitor the 1433 port and pass the request thru to the correct SQL instance by name? Is this capability built into SQL server already? Thanks, Jim

  • IIS 7 - 403 Access Denied error on wwwroot

    Hi, I'm trying to setup a redirect from http://mail.mydomain.com to https://mail.mydomain.com/owa. I've been unsuccessful in doing this by using IIS's HTTP Redirect so I looked to other options. The one I settled on is to create a default document in the wwwroot folder to handle the redirect. I created a file called index.aspx (and added index.aspx to the list of default documents) and put the following code in it: <script runat="server"> private void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { Response.Status = "301 Moved Permanently"; Response.AddHeader("Location","https://mail.mydomain.com/owa"); } </script> Instead of getting a redirect I get: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. I've been trying to find an answer to this but have been unsuccessful so far. One thing I did try was to add the Everyone group to wwwroot with read access. No change. The AppPool for Default Web Site is DefaultAppPool and the Identity is ApplicationPoolIdentity. (I don't know what these things are but maybe knowing this will help you.) Thanks!

    Currently I had a situation where I sent an email to [email protected], but when I receive mail from [email protected], it showed as [email protected], with extra '.com' behind the email address, this just happen within this week. Before this, I didn't change any setting, currently I am using Outlook 2010. When I checked the email in webmail, it also showed it as [email protected]. It seem that it has nothing to do with Outlook. However, I also tried on Thunderbird 16.0.1, but still the problem is the same. Has anyone experienced this before? Is the problem caused by the sender or receiver?     Hello, I created install script that will install SQL Server 2008 R2 on windows XP SP3, windows vista and windows 7. One of the command that i used in the installation is for silent installation of SQL Server 2008 R2. When i install it on windows XP everything works just fine but when i try to install it on Windows 7 i get an error. What am I doing wrong?     I have an interesting issue that has me stumped. Not that I'm a computer whiz or anything. I have a multi-boot system with two hard drives: one drive has CentOS and Windows XP 64-bit and the other drive has Windows XP 32-bit. CentOS grub boot loader works great, and I have it set to default to Windows. But this is the problem. My boot.ini file seems to be in order, yet it still gives an error if I choose the default OS (which, consequently, is XP32): Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrput: (Windows root) \system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file. But if I choose the actual boot ID, i.e., toggle to the Windows XP Pro selection it boots just fine.
