  • Nagios Check_hpjd giving me problems!

    - by Mister IT Guru
    When I run the following [root@host plugins]# ./check_hpjd -H printer1.mydomain.com : Timeout from host printer1.mydomain.com I have Net-snmp installed on my system, I noted that i didn't have net-snmp-utils installed, and then I was able to run [root@host plugins]# snmpwalk -Os -c public -v 1 printer1.mydomain.com system sysDescr.0 = STRING: HP ETHERNET MULTI-ENVIRONMENT sysObjectID.0 = OID: enterprises.11.2.3.9.1 sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (325408663) 37 days, 15:54:46.63 sysContact.0 = STRING: sysName.0 = STRING: printer1 sysLocation.0 = STRING: sysServices.0 = INTEGER: 72 So I know that the printer is working as expected, (as far as SNMP is concerned). But when I run [root@host plugins]# ./check_hpjd -H printer1.mydomain.com -C public Error in packet () I get this error - From what I've tried so far, I know my host can communicate via SNMP, I know the printer responds via SNMP, so I guess I'm left to look at the plug-in, which I will be checking up on. I'm new to SNMP, I am investigating this with my good friend Google search, but I am on a learning curve here, so please forgive my questions if they sound stupid,

  • using munin-plugins-rails to monitor rails app perfromance

    - by user2099762
    I have been trying to configure munin-plugins-rails to monitor the performance of our rails apps from Munin. The graphs appear, but no data is shown in the graphs. The log files show Error output from : 2013/06/27-15:39:06 [5540] Request-log-analyzer, by Willem van Bergen and $ 2013/06/27-15:39:06 [5540] Website: http://railsdoctors.com I have tried running Request-log-analyzer manually and pointing it at the production log file, and this reports as % for every item. There is data in the log file. I have tried changing the version of the gems installed, and also the type of the log file, but no luck. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

  • ATG Live Webcast Event - EBS 12 OAF Rich UI Enhancements

    - by Bill Sawyer
    The E-Business Suite Applications Technology Group (ATG) participates in several conferences a year, including Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco and OAUG/Collaborate.   We announce new releases, roadmaps, updates, and other news at these events.  These events are exciting, drawing thousands of attendees, but it's clear that only a fraction of our EBS users are able to participate. We touch upon many of the same announcements here on this blog, but a blog article is necessarily different than an hour-long conference session.  We're very interested in offering more in-depth technical content and the chance to interact directly with senior ATG Development staff.  New ATG Live Webcast series -- free of charge As part of that initiative, I'm very pleased to announce that we're launching a new series of free ATG Live Webcasts jointly with Oracle University.  Our goal is to provide solid, authoritative coverage of some of the latest ATG technologies, broadcasting live from our development labs to you. Our first event is titled: The Latest E-Business Suite R12.x OA Framework Rich User Interface Enhancements This live one-hour webcast will offer a comprehensive review of the latest user interface enhancements and updates to OA Framework in EBS 12. Developers will get a detailed look at new features designed to enhance usability, offer more capabilities for personalization and extensions, and support the development and use of dashboards and web services. Topics will include new rich user interface (UI) capabilities such as:

  • Rouen Business School builds its entire back office UI with Visual WebGui

    - by Webgui
    Two years ago, Rouen Business School (AMBA accredited institution located in Rouen, Normandy, France) decided to develop and implement a proprietary information system in-house. The objective was to administer all the data encompassed by a classic 3500 Students business school: from on-line application forms to the registration system including financial information, scheduling, grades management, etc. The development team at Rouen Business School chose Visual WebGui for the UI. “When we tested the Visual WebGui solution we were really amazed and enthusiastic. It was exactly the kind of solution we were looking for… The great performance of the solution allows us to manage a large amount of information with no delay with a very positive feedback at the user end,” said Stéphane Henry the IT Project Manager of the school.   As a result of the fast development, easy deployment, performance, and professional design that the team experienced with Visual WebGui, the entire back office of Rouen Business School information system was chosen to be developed with the Visual WebGui framework “and after two years we do not see any reason to change this,” commented Stéphane Henry who added that “all the original requirements were satisfied using Visual WebGui.” You can read the full Case study here >

  • Not Happy With the Monochrome Visual Studio 11 Beta UI

    - by Ken Cox [MVP]
    I can’t wait for a third-party to come out with tools to return some colour to the flat, monochrome look of Visual Studio 11 (beta). What bugs me most are the icons. I feel like a newbie when I have to squint and analyze the shape of icons on the debugging toolbar just to get the one I want. (Fortunately, the meddlers didn’t mess with the keyboard commands so I’m not totally lost.) Not sure what usability studies told MS that bland is better. Maybe it is for most people, but not for me.  Gray, shades of gray and black. Ugh. And don’t get me started on the stupidity of using all-caps for window titles. Who approved that? I see that there’s a UserVoice poll on the topic (http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/suggestions/2623017-add-some-color-to-visual-studio-11-beta) but I doubt that anything will change Microsoft’s opinion in time for the release. Once a product gets to a stable beta, most non-crashing stuff gets pushed to the next version. I hope I’m proved wrong. Fortunately, Visual Studio is quite customizable. Unless ‘Bland’ is hard-coded, some registry tweaks and a collection of replacement icons should allow dissenters like me back to productivity. BTW, other than hating the UI, VS 11 beta is working quite well for me on a .NET 4 project.Note: Although my username for the ASP.NET domain includes the letters "[MVP]", I'm no longer an MVP. Apparently it's nearly impossible to change a username in the system. My apologies for the misleading identifier but I tried to have it changed without success.

  • basic beginning emacs questions - install latest version and pick appropriate UI

    - by MountainX
    I'm running the latest Kubuntu (12.04 beta 2) and I would like to run the latest emacs (currently v24). The repos are one version behind. What's the best way to install v24 or later (and avoid future version conflicts)? Also, is there any reason not to aways use the GUI version of emacs if X is running? For example, could I set the GUI emacs version as the default text editor and use it to edit cron jobs (crontab -e)? I'm assuming the answer is yes, but since I haven't done that yet (my default editor is nano), I want to check if there are reasons I should leave nano as the default editor. Usually when I'm working on the command line I end up using nano. Now that I think about it, I have no idea why I keep doing that. Is there any downside to calling a GUI editor when working in an X terminal? EDIT: I briefly tested these two versions GNU Emacs 24.0.94.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.3.20) from GNU Emacs 23.3.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) installed by default in Kubuntu. This post explains some of the differences between versions. Unfortunately (for me) the defaults installed version (23.3.1, 23.3+1-1ubuntu9) is the nox version. Package: emacs23-nox Status: install ok installed Version: 23.3+1-1ubuntu9 Replaces: emacs23, emacs23-gtk, emacs23-lucid The package with version 24 opens in GUI mode by default. That's what I prefer. Some of the version 24 changes that interest me are listed in the references below. But there appear to be a multitude of different packages and versions I could install. References: What’s New In Emacs 24 (part 1) | Mastering Emacs http://www.masteringemacs.org/articles/2011/12/06/what-is-new-in-emacs-24-part-1/ " shell-mode uses pcomplete rules, with the standard completion UI. Yowzah! There’s a lot of cool, new functionality hidden away in this gem of a change." EmacsWiki: Recent Changes http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/?action=rc;showedit=0

  • The Endeca UI Design Pattern Library Returns

    - by Joe Lamantia
    I'm happy to announce that the Endeca UI Design Pattern Library - now titled the Endeca Discovery Pattern Library - is once again providing guidance and good practices on the design of discovery experiences.  Launched publicly in 2010 following several years of internal development and usage, the Endeca Pattern Library is a unique and valued source of industry-leading perspective on discovery - something I've come to appreciate directly through  fielding the consistent stream of inquiries about the library's status, and requests for its rapid return to public availability. Restoring the library as a public resource is only the first step!  For the next stage of the library's evolution, we plan to increase the scope of the guidance it offers beyond user interface design to the broader topic of discovery.  This could include patterns for architecture at the systems, user experience, and business levels; information and process models; analytical method and activity patterns for conducting discovery; and organizational and resource patterns for provisioning discovery capability in different settings.  We'd like guidance from the community on the kinds of patterns that are most valuable - so make sure to let us know. And we're also considering ways to increase the number of patterns the library offers, possibly by expanding the set of contributors and the authoring mechanisms. If you'd like to contribute, please get in touch. Here's the new address of the library: http://www.oracle.com/goto/EndecaDiscoveryPatterns And I should say 'Many thanks' to the UXDirect team and all the others within the Oracle family who helped - literally - keep the library alive, and restore it as a public resource.

  • Making WatiN Wait for JQuery document.Ready() Functions to Complete

    - by Steve Wilkes
    WatiN's DomContainer.WaitForComplete() method pauses test execution until the DOM has finished loading, but if your page has functions registered with JQuery's ready() function, you'll probably want to wait for those to finish executing before testing it. Here's a WatiN extension method which pauses test execution until that happens. JQuery (as far as I can see) doesn't provide an event or other way of being notified of when it's finished running your ready() functions, so you have to get around it another way. Luckily, because ready() executes the functions it's given in the order they're registered, you can simply register another one to add a 'marker' div to the page, and tell WatiN to wait for that div to exist. Here's the code; I added the extension method to Browser rather than DomContainer (Browser derives from DomContainer) because it's the sort of thing you only execute once for each of the pages your test loads, so Browser seemed like a good place to put it. public static void WaitForJQueryDocumentReadyFunctionsToComplete(this Browser browser) { // Don't try this is JQuery isn't defined on the page: if (bool.Parse(browser.Eval("typeof $ == 'function'"))) { const string jqueryCompleteId = "jquery-document-ready-functions-complete"; // Register a ready() function which adds a marker div to the body: browser.Eval( @"$(document).ready(function() { " + "$('body').append('<div id=""" + jqueryCompleteId + @""" />'); " + "});"); // Wait for the marker div to exist or make the test fail: browser.Div(Find.ById(jqueryCompleteId)) .WaitUntilExistsOrFail(10, "JQuery document ready functions did not complete."); } } The code uses the Eval() method to send JavaScript to the browser to be executed; first to check that JQuery actually exists on the page, then to add the new ready() method. WaitUntilExistsOrFail() is another WatiN extension method I've written (I've ended up writing really quite a lot of them) which waits for the element on which it is invoked to exist, and uses Assert.Fail() to fail the test with the given message if it doesn't exist within the specified number of seconds. Here it is: public static void WaitUntilExistsOrFail(this Element element, int timeoutInSeconds, string failureMessage) { try { element.WaitUntilExists(timeoutInSeconds); } catch (WatinTimeoutException) { Assert.Fail(failureMessage); } }

  • How are Wordpress plugins differentiated by Wordpress

    - by Ben Jackson
    I have created a wordpress plugin and uploaded it to my test site, but under Plugins wordpress informs me that there is update available to my plugin and it takes me to a completely separate plugin on wordpress.org Why is wordpress confusing them? How are plugins differentiated from each other as unique? Should I have a unique code or something? What is it in my plugin which is the same as the plugin Wordpress is confusing it with?

  • Problems using wxWidgets (wxMSW) within multiple DLL instances

    Preface I'm developing VST-plugins which are DLL-based software modules and loaded by VST-supporting host applications. To open a VST-plugin the host applications loads the VST-DLL and calls an appropriate function of the plugin while providing a native window handle, which the plugin can use to draw it's GUI. I managed to port my original VSTGUI code to the wxWidgets-Framework and now all my plugins run under wxMSW and wxMac but I still have problems under wxMSW to find a correct way to open and close the plugins and I am not sure if this is a wxMSW-only issue. Problem If I use any VST-host application I can open and close multiple instances of one of my VST-plugins without any problems. As soon as I open another of my VST-plugins besides my first VST-plugin and then close all instances of my first VST-plugin the application crashes after a short amount of time within the wxEventHandlerr::ProcessEvent function telling me that the wxTheApp object isn't valid any longer during execution of wxTheApp-FilterEvent (see below). So it seems to be that the wxTheApp objects was deleted after closing all instances of the first plugin and is no longer available for the second plugin. bool wxEvtHandler::ProcessEvent(wxEvent& event) { // allow the application to hook into event processing if ( wxTheApp ) { int rc = wxTheApp->FilterEvent(event); if ( rc != -1 ) { wxASSERT_MSG( rc == 1 || rc == 0, _T("unexpected wxApp::FilterEvent return value") ); return rc != 0; } //else: proceed normally } .... } Preconditions 1.) All my VST-plugins a dynamically linked against the C-Runtime and wxWidgets libraries. With regard to the wxWidgets forum this seemed to be the best way to run multiple instances of the software side by side. 2.) The DllMain of each VST-Plugin is defined as follows: // WXW #include "wx/app.h" #include "wx/defs.h" #include "wx/gdicmn.h" #include "wx/image.h" #ifdef __WXMSW__ #include <windows.h> #include "wx/msw/winundef.h" BOOL APIENTRY DllMain ( HANDLE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved ) { switch (ul_reason_for_call) { case DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH: { wxInitialize(); ::wxInitAllImageHandlers(); break; } case DLL_THREAD_ATTACH: break; case DLL_THREAD_DETACH: break; case DLL_PROCESS_DETACH: wxUninitialize(); break; } return TRUE; } #endif // __WXMSW__ class Application : public wxApp {}; IMPLEMENT_APP_NO_MAIN(Application) Question How can I prevent this behavior respectively how can I properly handle the wxTheApp object if I have multiple instances of different VST-plugins (DLL-modules), which are dynamically linked against the C-Runtime and wxWidgets libraries? Best reagards, Steffen

  • Drupal: how to apply plugins to modal lightbox content

    - by Patrick
    hi, I'm using a lightbox on a page of my website to display my nodes. I'm using some plugins such as an external simpletooltips plugin and the drupal plugin jQuery Media (to load flash video player for some video file-fields). All this stuff stop to work for the content of the lightbox, I guess because the content is not parsed... how can I solve this ? Should I trigger the plugins again ? Thanks

  • Making a CMS extendable by plugins - examples

    - by Anant
    I'm working on an open source script. I would like to provide a feature to extend the script by use of plugins/modules. I need some recommendations on open source cms/scripts to study code from, to gather the best practices on making script extendable by plugins. I've used WordPress in the past, and was planning to implement a similar system, but I'm looking to dive into alternatives, which might be better. Language preferred is PHP 5

  • How to run tests in plugins?

    - by Daniel Engmann
    We have splitted our grails application into several inplace-plugins. Now we want to have the tests in the same plugin like the classes which they test. Is it possible to configure our application (e.g. in BuildConfig.groovy) so that the tests in the plugins are executed too when we run "test-app"?

  • HTML/jQuery/CSS Drop Down Menu Issue / Safari

    - by mmundiff
    I have a drop down menu that is coded in HTML, CSS, and jQuery and it works fine in Firefox and IE but not in Safari, and also not in Firefox on Mac. The drop down displays inline as opposed to list-item for the drop down in Safari. Any ideas why? <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > $(document).ready(function(){ $('#menu li').hover( function() { //$('ul', this).css('display', 'block'); $('ul', this).fadeIn(200); var src = $('img.item', this).attr('src').match(/[^\.]+/) + '_over.png'; $('img.item', this).attr('src', src); }, function() { //$('ul', this).css('display', 'none'); $('ul', this).fadeOut(350); var src = $('img.item', this).attr('src').replace('_over', ''); $('img.item', this).attr('src', src); }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> /* General */ body { arial, sans-serif; background-color: white; } * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #menu{ white-space:nowrap; list-style:none; margin-left: 1px; } #menu ul { list-style: none; position:absolute; left:0; display:none; margin:0 -3px 0 -1px; padding:0; background: #000000; z-index: 500; margin-top: -4px; } #menu li{ display:inline; float: left; /* Added */ position:relative; } #menu li a { display: block; } #menu ul li { width:116px; float:left; border-top:1px dotted #666666; display: block; } #menu li ul { display: none; border-top: 1px black solid; text-align: left; } #menu ul a:hover { text-decoration:none; background: #efda83; color: #000000; } #menu ul a { text-decoration:none; display:block; height:15px; padding: 8px 5px; color:#efda83; font-size: 12px; } img{ border: 0 none; } .clear{ clear: both; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <ul id="menu"> <li ><a href="index.php"><img src="images/ssr_nav_home.png" class="item" alt="Home" /></a> </li> <li ><a href="about.php"><img src="images/ssr_nav_about.png" class="item" alt="About" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="about_contributors.php">Contributors</a></li> <li><a href="about_behind.php">Behind the Exhibit</a></li> <li><a href="about_sponsors.php">Sponsors</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="exhibit_intro.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_exhibit.png" alt="Exhibit" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="exhibit_intro.php">Intro</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_silkroad.php">Silk Road</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_western_regions.php">Western Regions</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_daily_life.php">Daily Life</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_burial_practices.php">Burial Practices</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_relevance.php">Relevance</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="visit.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_visit.png" alt="Visit" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="visit_tickets.php">Tickets</a></li> <li><a href="visit_specials.php">Special Offers</a></li> <li><a href="visit_tours.php">Tours</a></li> <li><a href="visit_groups.php">Groups</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="events.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_events.png" alt="Events" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="events_lectures.php">Lecture Series</a></li> <li><a href="events_symposium.php">Symposium</a></li> <li><a href="kids_and_family.php">Kids &amp; Family</a></li> <li><a href="events_calendar.php">Event Calendar</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="gallery.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_images.png" alt="Gallery" /></a></li> <li ><a href="resources.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_resources.png" alt="Resources" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="resources_teachers.php">For Teachers</a></li> <li><a href="kids_and_family.php">Kids &amp; Family</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.penn.museum/podcasts-and-videos/819-secrets-of-the-silk-road.html" rel="external">Podcasts &amp; Videos</a></li> <!-- <li><a href="map.php">Silk Road Map</a></li> <li><a href="resources_timeline.php">Timeline</a></li> --> <li><a href="resources_quiz.php">Quiz</a></li> <li><a href="glossary.php">Glossary</a></li> <li><a href="blogs.php">Blog</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="press.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_press.png" alt="Press" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="press_release.php">Press Release</a></li> <li><a href="press_images.php">Press Images</a></li> <li><a href="press_bloggers.php">Bloggers</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> </ul> </div> </body> </html>

  • jQuery val() undefined

We try the following jQuery code, but val() returned 'undefined': $(document).ready(function() { function sum_day(tag, status, column) { var total_day = 0; var index_pos = 0; var values = 0; values = tag.closest('tr').children("input[name='line_config']").val(); alert(values); //Return undefined return total_day; } $('td.gantt').click(function() { var gantt_tag = $('td.preop'); $(this).toggleClass('preop'); sum_day(gantt_tag, 'preop', $(this).index()); }); }); Are we getting right the value way? If anyone can help us, we appreciate... =)

  • Parsing GeoRSS Feed with jQuery

    - by senfo
    I'm attempting to use the jQuery jFeed plugin for parsing an Atom, GeoRSS feed and I'm running into issues extracting the information I need. For example, I need to extract the summary element and I would like to render the contents in a div on my HTML page. Additionally, I'd like to extract the contents from the georss:point elements and pass them into Google Maps to render them as points on a map. The problem is that it seems jFeed is stripping out the GeoRSS-related information. For example, I can extract the title element without issues, but it seems it doesn't extract the summary or georss:point elements, at all. Following is a snippet of the XML I'm working with: <feed xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" xmlns:georss="http://www.georss.org/georss"> <title>Search Results from DataWarehouse.HRSA.gov</title> <link rel="self" href="http://datawarehouse.hrsa.gov/HGDWDataWebService/HGDWDataService.aspx?service=HC&zip=20002&radius=10"/> <link rel="alternate" href="http://datawarehouse.hrsa.gov/"/> <author> <name>HRSA Geospatial Data Warehouse</name> </author> <id>tag:datawarehouse.hrsa.gov,2010-04-05:/</id> <updated>2010-04-05T19:25:28-05:00</updated> <entry> <title>Christ House</title> <link href="http://www.christhouse.org" /> <id>tag:datawarehouse.hrsa.gov,2010-04-05:/D388C4C6-FFA4-4091-819B-64D67DC64931</id> <summary type="xhtml"> <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <div class="vcard"> <div class="fn org">Christ House</div> <div class="adr"> <div class="street-address">1717 Columbia Rd. Am I doing something wrong or was jFeed simply not designed to work the way I want it to?

  • Jquery removeClass Not Working

    - by Wade D Ouellet
    Hey, My site is here: http://treethink.com What I have going is a news ticker on the right that is inside a jquery function. The function starts right away and extracts the news ticker and then retracts it as it should. When a navigation it adds a class to the div, which the function then checks for to see if it should stop extracting/retracting. This all works great. The problem I am having is that after the close button is clicked (in the content window), the removeClass won't work. This means that it keeps thinking the window is open and therefore the conditional statement inside the function won't let it extract and retract again. With a simple firebug check, it's showing that the class isn't being removed period. It's not the cboxClose id that it's not finding because I tried changing that to just "a" tags in general and it still wouldn't work so it's something to do with the jQuery for sure. Someone also suggested a quick alert() to check if the callback is working but I'm not sure what this is. Here is the code: /* News Ticker */ /* Initially hide all news items */ $('#ticker1').hide(); $('#ticker2').hide(); $('#ticker3').hide(); var randomNum = Math.floor(Math.random()*3); /* Pick random number */ newsTicker(); function newsTicker() { if (!$("#ticker").hasClass("noTicker")) { $("#ticker").oneTime(2000,function(i) { /* Do the first pull out once */ $('div#ticker div:eq(' + randomNum + ')').show(); /* Select div with random number */ $("#ticker").animate({right: "0"}, {duration: 800 }); /* Pull out ticker with random div */ }); $("#ticker").oneTime(15000,function(i) { /* Do the first retract once */ $("#ticker").animate({right: "-450"}, {duration: 800}); /* Retract ticker */ $("#ticker").oneTime(1000,function(i) { /* Afterwards */ $('div#ticker div:eq(' + (randomNum) + ')').hide(); /* Hide that div */ }); }); $("#ticker").everyTime(16500,function(i) { /* Everytime timer gets to certain point */ /* Show next div */ randomNum = (randomNum+1)%3; $('div#ticker div:eq(' + (randomNum) + ')').show(); $("#ticker").animate({right: "0"}, {duration: 800}); /* Pull out right away */ $("#ticker").oneTime(15000,function(i) { /* Afterwards */ $("#ticker").animate({right: "-450"}, {duration: 800});/* Retract ticker */ }); $("#ticker").oneTime(16000,function(i) { /* Afterwards */ /* Hide all divs */ $('#ticker1').hide(); $('#ticker2').hide(); $('#ticker3').hide(); }); }); } else { $("#ticker").animate({right: "-450"}, {duration: 800}); /* Retract ticker */ $("#ticker").oneTime(1000,function(i) { /* Afterwards */ $('div#ticker div:eq(' + (randomNum) + ')').hide(); /* Hide that div */ }); $("#ticker").stopTime(); } } /* when nav item is clicked re-run news ticker function but give it new class to prevent activity */ $("#nav li").click(function() { $("#ticker").addClass("noTicker"); newsTicker(); }); /* when close button is clicked re-run news ticker function but take away new class so activity can start again */ $("#cboxClose").click(function() { $("#ticker").removeClass("noTicker"); newsTicker(); }); Thanks, Wade

  • How to make jQuery animate upwards

    - by ivannovak
    Hey there, I've got some jquery running fairly well, howeever when I hover over the element in question, the bottom expands downward which is not unexpected but is not the desired effect. I'd like the bottom of the element to remain stationary with the top of the element expanding upwards. If you'd like to see what I currently have, you may navigate to http://demo.ivannovak.com/mobia/ Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is my code: HTML <div class="button"> <h3>Product Quality</h3> <div>Duis tristique ultricies velit sit amet adipiscing.</div> <img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/assets/img/INgravatar_subernova.png" alt="placeholderImage" height="70" /> <p><a href="#">Learn More &gt;</a></p> <div class="bottom"></div> </div> CSS div#buttons {} div#buttons .button { background: url(assets/img/bg_blue_top.jpg) #206094 no-repeat top left; padding: 5px 10px 0; width: 209px; float: left; margin-right: 5px; position: relative; height: 50px; } div#buttons .button h3 { font-weight: normal; color: #fff; text-transform: uppercase; } div#buttons .button:hover div, div#buttons .button:hover img { /* display: block; */ } div#buttons .button div { width: 120px; padding-right: 20px; float: left; color: #bbb; display: none; } div#buttons .button img { float: right; display: none; } div#buttons .button p { position: absolute; bottom: 10px; left: 10px; z-index: 9; font-weight: bold; text-transform: uppercase; } div#buttons .button p a { color: #7bc143; text-decoration: none; } div#buttons .button p a:hover { text-decoration: underline; } div#buttons .button .bottom { background: url(assets/img/bg_blue_bottom.jpg) no-repeat bottom left; height:26px; position: absolute; display: block; width: 229px; right: 0px; padding:0; bottom: 0; } jQuery $(document).ready(function() { $('.button').mouseenter(function() { $(this).closest('div').animate({ height: "150px", }, 400, "swing"); }); $('.button').mouseleave(function() { $(this).closest('div').animate({ height: "50px", }, 400, "swing"); }); });

  • Simple show/hide jQuery troubles

    - by Banderdash
    Okay, I feel like a bit of a 800 pound gorilla trying to thread a needle when it comes to jQuery. I need a script that will preform a simple show/hide (preferably with a nice sliding in and out) on a list. My markup looks like this: <div id="themes"> <h2>Research Themes</h2> <ul> <li class="tier_1"><a href="">Learn about our approach to the <strong>environment</strong></a> <ul class="tier_2 hide"> <li><a href=""><em>How we are tying this all together</em></a></li> <li><a href=""><strong>Project:</strong> Solor Powered Biofactories</a></li> <li><a href=""><strong>Project:</strong> Cleaning Water with Nature</a></li> <li><a href=""><strong>Project:</strong> Higher Efficiency Solar Technology</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="tier_1"><a href="">Learn about our approach to <strong>human health</strong></a> <ul class="tier_2 hide"> <li><a href="">Project name numero uno goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero dos goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero tres goes here</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="tier_1"><a href="">Learn about our approach to <strong>national defense</strong></a> <ul class="tier_2 hide"> <li><a href="">Project name numero uno goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero dos goes here</a></li> <li><a href="">Project name numero tres goes here</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div><!-- // end themes --> You can see that each nested ul has a class of "tier_2" and "hide". Ideally when the li they are nested within ("li.tier_1") is clicked it's child ul will have the hide class removed and the li's contained within will slideout, but at the same time should check all the other ul.tier_2's and be sure they get a hide class--so only one theme can be expanded at a time. I set up a sandbox to try some things: http://jsbin.com/odete/3 My JS looks like this: $(function(){ $(".tier_1 a").each(function(i,o){ $(this).click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); $(this).addClass("show").siblings("ul").removeClass("show"); $("ul.tier_2:eq("+i+")").show().siblings("ul.tier_2").hide(); }); }); }); Totally a dumb way to do this, I am sure. But I based it off another script and it does work "a little bit" as you can see in the sandbox. If one of you mean hands at jQuery might be so inclined to take a peek I'd be very grateful. If you could also advise on how to have the transitions slideIn and Out that would also be fantastic!

  • jQuery / jqGrids / Submitting form data troubles...

    - by Kelso
    Ive been messing with jqgrids alot of the last couple days, and I have nearly everything the way I want it from the display, tabs with different grids, etc. Im wanting to make use of Modal for adding and editing elements on my grid. My problem that Im running into is this. I have my editurl:"editsu.php" set, if that file is renamed, on edit, i get a 404 in the modal.. great! However, with that file in place, nothing at all seems to happen. I even put a die("testing"); line at the top, so it sees the file, it just doesnt do anything with it. Below is the content. ........ the index page jQuery("#landings").jqGrid({ url:'server.php?tid=1', datatype: "json", colNames:['ID','Tower','Sector', 'Client', 'VLAN','IP','DLink','ULink','Service','Lines','Freq','Radio','Serial','Mac'], colModel:[ {name:'id', index:'id', width : 50, align: 'center', sortable:true,editable:true,editoptions:{size:10}}, {name:'tower', index:'tower', width : 85, align: 'center', sortable:true,editable:false,editoptions:{readonly:true,size:30}}, {name:'sector', index:'sector', width : 50, align: 'center',sortable:true,editable:true,editoptions:{readonly:true,size:20}}, {name:'customer',index:'customer', width : 175, align: 'left', editable:true,editoptions:{readonly:true,size:35}}, {name:'vlan', index:'vlan', width : 35, align: 'left',editable:true,editoptions:{size:10}}, {name:'suip', index:'suip', width : 65, align: 'left',editable:true,editoptions:{size:20}}, {name:'datadl',index:'datadl', width:55, editable: true,edittype:"select",editoptions:{value:"<? $qr = qquery("select * from datatypes"); while ($q = ffetch($qr)) {echo "$q[id]:$q[name];";}?>"}}, {name:'dataul', index:'dataul', width : 55, editable: true,edittype:"select",editoptions:{value:"<? $qr = qquery("select * from datatypes"); while ($q = ffetch($qr)) {echo "$q[id]:$q[name];";}?>"}}, {name:'servicetype', index:'servicetype', width : 85, editable: true,edittype:"select",editoptions:{value:"<? $qr = qquery("select * from servicetype"); while ($q = ffetch($qr)) {echo "$q[id]:$q[name];";}?>"}}, {name:'voicelines', index:'voicelines', width : 35, align: 'center',editable:true,editoptions:{size:30}}, {name:'freqname', index:'freqname', width : 35, editable: true,edittype:"select",editoptions:{value:"<? $qr = qquery("select * from freqband"); while ($q = ffetch($qr)) {echo "$q[id]:$q[name];";}?>"}}, {name:'radioname', index:'radioname', width : 120, editable: true,edittype:"select",editoptions:{value:"<? $qr = qquery("select * from radiotype"); while ($q = ffetch($qr)) {echo "$q[id]:$q[name];";}?>"}}, {name:'serial', index:'serial', width : 100, align: 'right',editable:true,editoptions:{size:20}}, {name:'mac', index:'mac', width : 120, align: 'right',editable:true,editoptions:{size:20}} ], rowNum:20, rowList:[30,50,70], pager: '#pagerl', sortname: 'sid', mtype: "GET", viewrecords: true, sortorder: "asc", altRows: true, caption:"Landings", editurl:"editsu.php", height:420 }); jQuery("#landings").jqGrid('navGrid','#pagerl',{edit:true,add:true,del:false,search:false},{height:400,reloadAfterSubmit:false},{height:400,reloadAfterSubmit:false},{reloadAfterSubmit:false},{}); now for the editsu.php file.. $operation = $_REQUEST['oper']; if ($operation == "edit") { qquery("UPDATE customers SET vlan = '".$_POST['vlan']."', datadl = '".$_POST['datadl']."', dataul = '".$_POST['dataul']."', servicetype = '".$_POST['servicetype']."', voicelines = '".$_POST['voicelines']."', freqname = '".$_POST['freqname']."', radioname = '".$_POST['radioname']."', serial = '".$_POST['serial']."', mac = '".$_POST['mac']."' WHERE id = '".$_POST['id']."'") or die(mysql_error()); } Im just having a hard time troubleshooting this to figure out where its getting hung up at. My next question after this would be to see if its possible to make it so when you click "add", that it auto inserts a row into the db with a couple variable predtermined and then bring up the modal window, but ill work on the first problem first. thanks!

  • How to drill down with jQuery?

    - by Timothy Reed
    I'm new to jQuery so sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm having truble drilling down to other elemnts. Paticularly I want to fade in the .menu li a:hover class with jquery. .menu { padding:0; margin:0; list-style:none; } .menu li { float:left; margin-left:1px; } .menu li a { display:block; height:44px; line-height:40px; padding:0 5px; float:right; color:#fff; text-decoration:none; font-family:"Palatino Linotype", "Book Antiqua", Palatino, serif; font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; } .menu li a b { text-transform:uppercase; } .menu li a:hover { color:#E4FFC5; background: url(../images/arrow.png) no-repeat center bottom; } .current { background: url(../images/arrow.png) no-repeat center bottom; font-size:16px; font-weight:bold; } .spacer p { display:block; height:44px; line-height:40px; padding:0 5px; float:right; color:#fff; text-decoration:none; font-family:"Palatino Linotype", "Book Antiqua", Palatino, serif; font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; } <ul class="menu"> <li class="current"><a href="index.html">Home</a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Mission &amp; Values </a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Caregivers</a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Special Programs </a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Enployment</a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li> </ul> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('a').mouseover(function() { $('.logo').animate ({opacity:'0.6'}, 'normal'); }); $('a').mouseout (function() { $('.logo').animate ({opacity:'1'}, 'normal'); $('.menu li a:hover').fadeIn ('slow'); }); </script>

  • Help with this code.

    - by karthick6891
    Heading ##Hey guys i need help with this code.The short version is,i have to do match the follwing by using drag and drop in jquery and later i need to show a message whether it is right or wrong. var output = "Wrong"; var old_item ; var new_item ; var newObjArray=[]; $(function() { var $gallery = $('.gallery'), $trash = $('.trash'); $('div',$gallery).draggable({ revert: 'invalid', containment: 'document', helper: 'clone', cursor: 'move', }); // let the trash be droppable, accepting the gallery items $trash.droppable({ //accept: '#gallery div', //activeClass: 'ui-state-highlight', tolerance: 'touch', drop: function(ev, ui) { new_item = ui.draggable; $(this).droppable("option","activeClass",'.ui-state-highlight'); if(contains(newObjArray,ui.draggable)) { newObjArray.pop(ui.draggable); } newObjArray.push(ui.draggable); deleteImage(ui.draggable,$(this)); } }); // let the gallery be droppable as well, accepting items from the trash $gallery.droppable({ //accept: '#trash li', activeClass: 'custom-state-active', drop: function(ev, ui) { recycleImage(ui.draggable); } }); // image deletion function function deleteImage($item,element) { var $list; $item.fadeOut(10,function() { if($(".ui-widget-content", element).length <1){ old_item = $item; $list = $('<div class="gallery ui-helper-reset"/>').appendTo(element); //$('ul',$trash).length ? $('ul',$trash) : $('<ul class="gallery ui-helper-reset"/>').appendTo($trash); $item.appendTo($list).fadeIn(10); } else{ recycleImage($(".ui-widget-content",element)); $list = $('<div class="gallery ui-helper-reset"/>').appendTo(element); $item.appendTo($list).fadeIn(10); old_item = $item; } }); } //check for given answer // image recycle function function recycleImage($item) { $item.fadeOut(10,function() { $item.find("img").end().appendTo($gallery).fadeIn(10); }); } // image preview function, demonstrating the ui.dialog used as a modal window }); function checkOrder(){ if(newObjArray==null){ } else if(newObjArray!=null){ if(newObjArray[0].attr("id")=="5"&& newObjArray[1].attr("id")=="1" && newObjArray[2].attr("id")=="3" && newObjArray[3].attr("id")=="2" && newObjArray[4].attr("id")=="4"){ parent.parent.increaseCorrectA(); } else{ parent.parent.increaseWrongA(); } } } function contains(a, obj) { var i = a.length; while (i--) { if (a[i] === obj) { return true; } } return false; } I am calling the function checkOrder() from the html page after the matching of items is over.What happens here is i have just stored the user responses on the draggable over droppable in an array,based on it's position.It is a bad practice cause,i am saying whether it's right or wrong through its position in the array.The only thing i can do is get the draggable's id present in the droppable.But i dont know how to get that inside the function checkOrder().Any ideas please?

  • jQuery .append() not working in IE, Safari, and Chrome

    - by mkmcdonald
    So I'm using jQuery's AJAX function to read some XML for me and it's worked just fine. But now I'm trying to manipulate the display property of 4 different dynamically generated divs. The size and x/y of the divs are determined by the XML and are parsed through. My problem lies in the face that these divs either aren't being generated or just don't show up in IE, Safari, and Chrome. In Firefox and Opera, they do work. I'm using jQuery's .append() to create the divs and then the .css() functino to manipulate them. Looking in Chrome's developer tools, I am seeing that the css property being changed in the script is being overridden by the property in the stylesheet. Any fixes? $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "generate?test", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find('template').each(function(){ var portion = $(this).attr('portion'); var select; var name = $(this).find('$(this):first').text(); var mutability = $(this).attr('mutability'); var x = (parseInt($(this).find('x:first').text())*96)/72; var y = (parseInt($(this).find('y:first').text())*96)/72; switch(portion){ case "stub": select = $('#StubTemplates'); select.append(""+name+""); break; case "body": select = $('#BodyTemplates'); select.append(""+name+""); y = y + 90; break; } switch(mutability){ case "dynamic": var width = (parseInt($(this).find('width:first').text())*96)/72; var height = (parseInt($(this).find('height:first').text())*96)/72; var n = name; switch(portion){ case "stub": $('.ticket').append("") break; case "body": $('.ticket').append(""); break; } var top = $('#'+n).position().top; var left = parseInt($('#'+n).css('margin-left')); $('#'+n).css('top', (y+top)+"px"); $('#'+n).css('margin-left', (x+left)+"px"); $('#'+n).css('width', width+"px"); $('#'+n).css('height', height+"px"); break; case "static": var n = name; switch(portion){ case "stub": $('.ticket').append(""); break; case "body": $('.ticket').append(""); break; } break; } }); var stubActive = false; var bodyActive = false; $('#StubTemplates').find('.ddindent').mouseup(function(){ var tVal = $(this).val(); var tTitle = $(this).attr('title'); if(!stubActive){ $('.stubEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); stubActive = true; }else{ $('.stubEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); stubActive = false; } }); $('#StubTemplates').find('#stubTempNone').mouseup(function(){ $('.stubEditable').css('display', 'none'); }); $('#BodyTemplates').find('.ddindent').mouseup(function(){ var tVal = $(this).val(); var tTitle = $(this).attr('title'); if(!bodyActive){ $('.bodyEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); bodyActive = true; }else{ $('.bodyEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); bodyActive = false; } }); $('#BodyTemplates').find('#bodyTempNone').mouseup(function(){ $('.bodyEditable').css('display', 'none'); }); } }); });

  • JQuery Help: slidetoggle() is not working properly

    - by John Smith
    Hi all, I'm trying to use JQuery Slidetoggle functionality, but not able to use properly. The problem I'm currently facing is my div is sliding down on the click of slide image icon, but after that suddenly data div (in which data is loading) disappears. Means sliding down is perfect but div (in which data is loading , here #divMain) is not visible after that. I want to achieve sliding effect in my code, like this has (Please see Website Design, Redesign Services slider): Here is my code: HTML: <div> <div class="jquery_inner_mid"> <div class="main_heading"> <a href="#"> <img src="features.jpg" alt="" title="" border="0" /></a> </div> <div class="plus_sign"> <img id="imgFeaturesEx" src="images/plus.jpg" alt="" title="" border="0" /> <img id="imgFeaturesCol" src="images/minus.jpg" alt="" title="" border="0" /></div> <div class="toggle_container"> <div id="divMain" > </div> </div> </div> <div class="jquery_inner_mid"> <div class="main_heading"> <img src="About.jpg" alt="" title="" /></div> <div class="plus_sign"> <img id="imgTechnoEx" src="images/plus.jpg" alt="" title="" border="0" /> <img id="imgTechnoCol" src="images/minus.jpg" alt="" title="" border="0" /></div> <div class="toggle_container"> <div id="divTechnossus" > </div> </div> </div> </div> JQuery: $(function() { $('#imgFeaturesCol').hide(); $('#imgTechnoCol').hide(); $('#imgFeaturesEx').click(function() { $.getJSON("/Visitor/GetFeatureInfo", null, function(strInfo) { $('#divMain').html(strInfo).slideToggle("slow"); LoadDiv(); }); $('#imgFeaturesEx').hide(); $('#imgFeaturesCol').show(); }); $('#imgFeaturesCol').click(function() { $('#divMain').html("").slideToggle("slow"); $('#imgFeaturesCol').hide(); $('#imgFeaturesEx').show(); }); $('#imgTechnoEx').click(function() { $.getJSON("/Visitor/GetTechnossusInfo", null, function(strInfo) { $('#divTechnossus').html(strInfo).slideToggle("slow"); }); $('#imgTechnoEx').hide(); $('#imgTechnoCol').show(); }); $('#imgTechnoCol').click(function() { $('#divTechnossus').html("").slideToggle("slow"); $('#imgTechnoCol').hide(); $('#imgTechnoEx').show(); }); })(); function LoadDiv() { $('#s4').cycle({ speed: 200, timeout: 0, pager: '#nav' }); }
