• HRESULT of 0x806D0005 from Microsoft's Dia2Lib

  I'm trying to read a PDB file into a C# application. When I call loadDataFromPdb or loadAndValidateDataFromPdb with a file that I know exists, I get an HRESULT of 0x806D0005. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that means. I have the list of possible results [here](http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2008hf0e(v=VS.80).aspx) but I'm afraid I can't conclusively determine the problem. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Or at least a method of checking what that corresponds to? Should I use the second solution or I should try to optimize the prep stmt?

  Hey gang, I've having a problem with a VBScript connecting to an access MDB Database. My platform is Vista64, but the majority of resources out there are for ASP/IIS7. Quite simply, I can't get it to connect. I'm getting the following error: 800A0E7A - "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed" My code is: Set conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") strConnect = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\database.MDB" conn.Open strConnect So far I have ran %WINDIR%\System32\odbcad32.exe to try to configure the Driver in 32bit mode, but it hasn't done the trick. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

• ODBC continually prompts for password

  I have an application built in Access 2003 that uses a system DSN ODBC to connect to a SQL Server. The ODBC uses SQL authentication. When the application is started, the user is prompted to authenticate into the database. I have another computer set up within the same domain that has Access 2007 installed on it. I log in using the same credentials that I use to get on the machine that has Access 2003. I converted my application to Access 2007 format and everything works fine. However, when other users try to use the application, they are prompted to enter the database password every time a table is accessed. Thinking it was a problem with my ODBC, I confirmed that the connections were set up the same way on both of my machines, and the user's machine. Here is the interesting part, when the user logged into my machine, it started prompting for the password every time. When I logged into the user's machine, the application worked fine. Anyone have any ideas? All help is appreciated!

  When adding a DLL as a reference to an ASP.Net project, VS2008 adds several files to the bin directory. If the DLL is called foo.dll, VS2008 adds foo.dll.refresh, foo.pdb and foo.xml. I know what foo.dll is :-), why does VS2008 add the other three files? What do those three files do? Can I delete them? Do they need to be added in source control?

• Cannot receive email outside domain with Microsoft Exchange

  This morning we couldn't receive email from outside our company's domain (domain.com.au), but we can send email to outside (e.g hotmail, gmail, yahoo). When I tried to send email to my work email address using my gmail account, I received this message Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Unable to relay for [email protected] (state 14). I tried using telnet to send email, and it works. But still I couldn't figure out why I can't receive email from outside. I'm not sure if I provided enough info. I'll try to provide as much info as needed to help me solve the problem. Thanks

• SQL query to count and list the different counties per zip code

  I have a sql server 2005 table called ZipCode, which has all the US ZIPs in it. For each entry, it lists the zip, county, city, state, and several other details. Some zipcodes span multiple cities and some even span multiple counties. As a result, some zipcodes appear many times in the table. I am trying to query the table to see which zipcodes go across multiple counties. This is what I have so far: select zipcode, count(zipcode) as total, county, state from zipcode group by zipcode, county, state order by zipcode Of 19248 records in the result set, here are the first several records returned: zipcode total county state 00501 2 SUFFOLK NY 00544 2 SUFFOLK NY 00801 3 SAINT THOMAS VI 00802 3 SAINT THOMAS VI 00803 3 SAINT THOMAS VI 00804 3 SAINT THOMAS VI 00805 1 SAINT THOMAS VI 00820 2 SAINT CROIX VI 00821 1 SAINT CROIX VI 00822 1 SAINT CROIX VI 00823 2 SAINT CROIX VI 00824 2 SAINT CROIX VI In this particular example, each zip with a total of two or more happens to be in the table more than once, and it's because the "cityaliasname" (not shown) or some other column differs. But I just want to know which zips are in there more than once because the county column differs. I searched before posting this and I found many questions about counting records but I could not figure out how to apply them to my problem. Please forgive me if there is already a question whose answer applies to this question.

  I am working on an add-in for Microsoft Expression Web. I have gotten enough information on the web to know that I have to add references to Microsoft.Expression.Interop.WebDesigner, Microsoft.Expression.Interop.WebDesignerPage, and Microsoft.Expression.Interop.WebDesigner. The problem is that there does not seem to be any official documentation on the classes within these dll-s. There is even a Microsoft Connect issue about the lack of documentation. I have been using the object browser in Visual Studio 2008 and Reflector but that is pretty thin soup. Does anyone know where there is some reasonable documentation. I am not looking for a sample "hello world" implementation. I want some more substance and depth.

• mysql never releases memory

  I have a production server clocking about 4 million page views per month. The server has got 8GB of RAM and mysql acts as a database. I am facing problems in handling mysql to take this load. I need to restart mysql twice a day to handle this thing. The problem with mysql is that it starts with some particular occupation, the memory consumed by mysql keeps on increasing untill it reaches the maximum it can consume and then mysql stops responding slowly or does not respond at all, which freezes the server. All my tables are indexed properly and there are no long queries. I need some one to help on how to go about debugging what to do here. All my tables are myisam. I have tried configuring the parameters key_buffer etc but to no rescue. Any sort of help is greatly appreciated.   I am using JDBC to connect to my microsoft access database. I get the following exception when I try to connect to the database: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application I am using 64bit windows7, and I am using eclipse which is also a 64bit version My database is a microsoft access database and it seems that the driver is a 32bit driver which is causing the problem. I read somewhere that microsoft has not released a 64bit driver for microsoft access! Any help on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

• Microsoft flexgrid Control : Run-time error '438' Object doesnt support this property or method

  I am maintaining a legacy Microsoft Access application that is using the Microsoft Flexgrid 6.0. It recently started causing the following error: Run-time error '438' Object doesn't support this property or method People say that this error can be caused by the KB960715 security update being applied, which sets killbits on various ActiveX control methods which were deemed a security risk. But this or no other security update has been applied recently. Others say that installing Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Service Pack 6 Cumulative Update will update the flex grid. This requires VB6 to be installed as a prerequisite so I installed that on my PC and then the update, and retrieved the updated MsFlxGrd.ocx file(Version: 6.1.98.12) and copied to the application machine, but the error still prevails. Someone here says you can disable the killbit in the registry. But there are afew hundred nodes in the location they suggest, none of which has the same guid as the one they point out. Any ideas?

  So I created an Outlook Add-in and used the click-once setup to deploy it. The setup runs fine when the user is administrator, but otherwise: no go. Running the setup with "run as..." and logging in as admin works, but than the add-in is installed under the admin, not the current user. The addin doesn't show up in outlook. Examine the registry keys in HKCU hive e.g. you will find two interesting registry keys that appear under your HKCU hive: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\TestKey registry key containing registry value TestValue You now also have HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\User Settings\TestPropagation registry key with Count value set to 1 But on my machine, the keys are not created... What can I try next?

I use the following method to accomplish this: taskkill /f /im explorer.exe >nul explorer.exe :: I have also tried: %winDir%\explorer.exe :: start %winDir%\explorer.exe :: start /b %winDir%\explorer.exe :: start /d %winDir%\explorer.exe (as suggested by panda-34) :: :: I've even tried delaying the above commands with: ping localhost -n 11 >nul Then this happens: explorer.exe is successfully terminated (denoted by the lack of taskbar and desktop) An explorer window opens, which I am left with indefinitely (see Image 1) I can only then restart explorer by manually starting a new process from Task Manager (Win + R doesn't respond), even though explorer.exe is actually already in the process list, strangely enough.. (see Image 2)   Now, I say "kind of" as I'm running the batch file from a self-executing SFX archive, created with WinRAR. When executed, the contents of the archive are extracted to %temp% and a user-defined bootstrapper (in this case, my batch file) is run upon successful extraction. The strangest thing about it, though, is that if you manually extract the contents of the archive and run the batch file then explorer restarts correctly. It only ever glitches when called from an SFX. • Entity Framework query not returning correctly enumerated results.

  I have this really strange problem where my entity framework query isn't enumerating correctly. The SQL Server table I'm using has a table with a Sku field, and the column is "distinct". It isn't a key, but it doesn't contain any duplicate values. Using actual SQL with where, distinct and group by cluases I have confirmed this. However, when I do this: // Not good foreach(var product in dc.Products) or // Not good foreach(var product in dc.Products.ToList()) or // Not good foreach(var product in dc.Products.OrderBy(p => p.Sku)) the first two objects that are returned ARE THE SAME!!! The third item was technically the second item in the table, but then the fourth item was the first row from the table again!!! The only solution I have found is to use the Distinct extension method, which shouldn't really do anything in this situation: // Good foreach(var product in dc.Products.ToList().Distinct()) Another weird thing about this is that the count of the resulting queries is the same!!! So whether or not the resulting enumerable has the correct results or duplicates, I always get the number of rows in the actual table! (No I don't have a limit clause anywhere). What could possibly cause this!?!?!?

  Hello, in my asp.net web application i used ASPNetSQLProvider for membership. Now i need use ASPNETAccessProvider. I wrote in webconfig file: <membership defaultProvider="AccessMembershipProvider" > <providers> <clear /> <add name="AccessMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.AccessMembershipProvider" connectionStringName="AccessConnection" /> </providers> </membership> and trying to create user, and code fails : Could not load type 'System.Web.Security.AccessMembershipProvider'. How can i fix this?

• Querying for names

  I have a table (say "Demographics") on SQL Server. In this table are the following columns "LastName", "FirstName", "MiddleName", "Prefix" , "Suffix". I have one textbox to search for them on a webpage. My question: Whats a good design strategy for queries where the user could be searching for various combinations of names including last names that have spaces e.g. "Smith James Jr." . Our customers store Jr. sometimes in suffix and sometimes just tack it to lastname. Sometimes Smith James Jr could be the entire last name.
