  As recently reported here: Xamarin has forked Cocos2D-XNA, a 2D/3D game development framework, creating a cross-platform library that can be included in PCL projects. However the founder of the project that was forked says: The purpose of the MIT license is to unencumber your fair use. Not to encourage you to take software, rebrand it as your own, and then "take it in a new direction" as you say. While not illegal, it is unethical. It seems that the GitHub page of the new project doesn't even indicate that it's a fork in a typical GitHub manner, opting for an easily-removable History section instead (see bottom). So my questions are: Was Xamarin's action and the way the action was done ethical or not? Is it possible to avoid such a situation if you are a single developer or a small unfunded group of developers? I am hoping this could be either a wiki question or there will be some objective answers grounded on modern OSS ethics/philosophy.

  I have been searching for a while for a way to get an animated mdl or mdx model into any 3D animating software (such as Blender), but so far have not had any success. I found a few methods of getting textured static mdx or mdl models into Blender/Milkshape/Hexagon, but no one seems to have written an importer that deals with the mdl/mdx model's keyframe animation. On that note, if anyone knows of a way of importing a keyframe-animated 3DS model into Blender, me and alot of people would appreciate it if you could let us know.   I'm trying to understand better how Hadoop works, and I'm reading The NameNode is a Single Point of Failure for the HDFS Cluster. HDFS is not currently a High Availability system. When the NameNode goes down, the file system goes offline. There is an optional SecondaryNameNode that can be hosted on a separate machine. It only creates checkpoints of the namespace by merging the edits file into the fsimage file and does not provide any real redundancy. Hadoop 0.21+ has a BackupNameNode that is part of a plan to have an HA name service, but it needs active contributions from the people who want it (i.e. you) to make it Highly Available. from http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/NameNode So why is the NameNode a single point of failure? What is bad or difficult about having a complete duplicate of the NameNode running as well?

  I have found that using desktop effects in Ubuntu versions later than 8.10 causes the desktop to freeze after a few seconds on my PC. the command lspci -nn gave the following 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2772] (rev 02) and with lspci -k I have 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) Kernel driver in use: i915 Kernel modules: i915 The intel graphics cards seems to have some performence issues with xorg driver. However I have not noticed any freeze in Ubuntu 8.10. There are some workarounds at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Bugs/Lucidi8xxFreezes to make them work. But I can't find out what workaround should I do with my graphics controller. I have tried workaround F but it did not help. can anyone help me find a workaround for my graphics card? and is it actually possible to use desktop effect in this graphics card ?

There are three basic tasks which could be carried out - View existing ledger entries in table format. Create new ledger entry using create button. Click on a ledger entry in the table (mentioned in first pointer) and view its details in next page. You could nullify a ledger entry in this page. (There are couple more operation/validations in each page but fore sake of brevity I will limit it to these) So I decided to create three different classes - LedgerLandingPage CreateNewLedgerEntryPage ViewLedgerEntryPage These classes offer the services which could be carried out in those pages and Selenium tests use these classes to bring application to a state where I could make certain assertion. When I was having it reviewed with on of my colleague then he was over whelmed and asked me to make one single class for all. Though I yet feel my design is much clean I am doubtful if I am overusing Single Responsibility principle

I know that the shape's density can be set by NxShapeDesc::density in PhysX 2.8, but I can't find such interface in PhysX 3.1. I know that the mass properties can be set in PhysX 3.1 just as the snowman example in the SDK, but I don't know whether there exists a direct interface to set density for each shape.

  After installing Ubuntu 12.04 on a Toshiba AC100 several days ago, as described at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/TEGRA/AC100, and seeing during the installation that the OS was able to use the camera (the installer suggested to make a photo for the first user), I wanted to play with the camera. I couldn't understand how to find a "photo booth" program in the new-style menu+desktop (not the classical menu with sections), so I remembered the popular "cheese" Linux program, and installed it via the Software Update tool (or whatever it is called; can be invoked from the panel on the desktop). But cheese doesn't start, i.e., it crashes. (The bug report telling the same.) As I said, the camera could be used by the OS on this machine -- this could be seen in the installer. Which "photo booth" programs can be installed and used without crashes in Ubuntu 12.04 on a Toshiba AC100 in order to play with the webcamera?
