  • Safe to pass objects to C functions when working in JNI Invocation API?

    I am coding up something using the JNI Invocation API. A C program starts up a JVM and makes calls into it. The JNIenv pointer is global to the C file. I have numerous C functions which need to perform the same operation on a given class of jobject. So I wrote helper functions which take a jobject and process it, returning the needed data (a C data type...for example, an int status value). Is it safe to write C helper functions and pass jobjects to them as arguments? i.e. (a simple example - designed to illustrate the question): int getStatusValue(jobject jStatus) { return (*jenv)->CallIntMethod(jenv,jStatus,statusMethod); } int function1() { int status; jobject aObj = (*jenv)->NewObject (jenv, aDefinedClass, aDefinedCtor); jobject j = (*jenv)->CallObjectMethod (jenv, aObj, aDefinedObjGetMethod) status = getStatusValue(j); (*jenv)->DeleteLocalRef(jenv,aObj); (*jenv)->DeleteLocalRef(jenv,j); return status; } Thanks.

  • How do I POST/GET from rails to API with either ActiveResource or rest-client (preferred)?

    Hi, this is a pretty basic question but I'm not entirely clear how to do this. I am trying to use a third-party service that has RESTful service. The service is called Postful. But I'm not clear what exactly to do? I've looked at ActiveResource (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveResource/Base.html) and rest-client, but I'm still not clear exactly what steps, code, and files to create. http://www.postful.com/service/mail is one of the services (details found http://www.postful.com/developer/guide#rest ), but to upload an image I have to post the following (but I'm not sure how I actually do this?).     i have a question, i have a custom class which imports java.sql.; and i am creating a jsp page, in the jsp page, i did a page import of the custom class , however when i tried to call my custom class database methods it cant work. only when i did a page import of java.sql. did it work. so are custom classes imported API included in .class files? A non-linguistic identifier, where case is irrelevant, especially a piece of data stored in most Microsoft Windows system services. Culturally-agnostic data, which still is linguistically relevant. Data that requires local linguistic customs. Given that, I'd like to know the best way to communicate which behavior is expected of a string parameter in a public API. I wasn't able to find an answer in the Framework Design Guidelines. Consider the following methods: f(string this_is_a_linguistic_string) g(string this_is_a_symbolic_identifier_so_use_ordinal_compares) Is variable naming and XML documentation the best I can do? Could I use attributes in some way to mark the requirements of the string? Now consider the following case: h(Dictionary<string, object> dictionary) Note that the dictionary instance is created by the caller. How do I communicate that the callee expects the IEqualityComparer<string> object held by the dictionary to perform, for example, a case-insensitive ordinal comparison?

    I'm using the UpdateListItems method of the Lists web service, and I can update an item in just about any kind of list, and folders in non-document library lists, but I can't seem to update the name of a folder in a document library. I must use the web services API, as sharepoint is not local. If my update batch looks like this: <Batch OnError="Continue" PreCalc="TRUE" ListVersion="0" ViewName=""> <Method ID="1" Cmd="Update"> <Field Name="ID">2</Field> <Field Name="Title">MyUpdatedFolderName</Field> <Field Name="FileLeafRef">MyUpdatedFolderName</Field> </Method> </Batch> I get no exception but the name is unchanged. I have already implemented the download using URLDownloadToFile function, but i want to create a PROGRESS_CLASS progress bar with marquee style while the file is being downloaded, but it doesn't seems to get animated in the process.     We have a state in our defects called "Need More Information". I would like to create a graph over time of how many defects are in that state at any particular period of time. I think I can get the info to do that with the Lookback API with the following query: my $find = { State => 'Need More Information', '_PreviousValues.State' => {'$ne' => 'Need More Information'}, _TypeHierarchy => -51006, # defect _ValidFrom => { '$gte' => '2012-09-01TZ', '$lt' => '2012-10-23TZ', } I thought that would give me back a list of all defect snapshots where the defect was transitioning into "Need More Information" state, but it does not (seems to list everything that was ever in "Need More Information" state. Technically what I need is a query that lists snapshots of any defects transitioning either TO OR FROM the "Need More Information" state, but since this simpler one did not seem to work as I expected, I thought I would ask first why the query above did not work the way I expected.

  • Do I need to recompile PHP to make use of CURL API?

    I have both Apache and PHP set up manually, albeit the latter without CURL. There is this jungle of instructions and explanations on extensions for PHP. I have a very straightforward question - what do I need to do to enable CURL in a more dynamic way. I resent the idea of static linking, in fact I hate and avoid static linking like the plague. Is it possible to have my Apache and PHP understand that there is CURL in town? I can compile CURL if necessary. Package management may be out of the question, because I built PHP myself - I am on Ubuntu, and it does not provide PHP without Suhosin and a a whole lot of time, so I removed it and built PHP myself. The whole slew of related questions simply propse installing "php5-curl" package, which is exactly one thing I CANNOT do since it installs it in a completely unrelated directory, which my PHP does not even seem to bother linking to.

    This maybe more of a Linux specific question but... I've been reading many tutorials and it seems that you can use JavaScript, Python, and C++ to write code for the Beaglebone Black(BBB). It looks like the way C++ interfaces with the BBB hardware is via reading/writing text files on the OS while Python has it's own library. All the C++ examples out there control the GPIO and PWM via reading/writing to text files. Is this the only way to access the hardware or just how Linux does drivers?

But, I'm stuck on one thing: I'd like to have my accordion/tree work like this: When I navigate down into, say, level three, and click on the link to open the page linked to that level, how do I indicate once the level three page loads that I'm on that page? Also, how do I keep the tree open to that level when I load the page? My Problem scenario is this: The DataContext is on the SchoolclassAdministrationViewModel what is the ViewModel containing the AllSchoolclassesViewModel ObservableCollection bound to the SchoolclassAdministration.xaml UserControl. My SchoolclassViewModel,PupilViewModel and SubjectViewModel has all Properties, Commands(Add/Delete). My Question: How can I set these 3 ViewModels as DataContext to my ONE SchoolclassAdministration.xaml UserControl I have? Before you answer... putting every ViewModel(schoolclass,pupil,subject) in its own UserControl will not help me because then the Master-Detail switching can NOT work anymore. Specifically, I found a couple *dis*advantages, not counting the extra work of conversion (which I won't count, since I could have done it this way in the first place, I suppose, although that would have made using F# Interactive more of a pain). For one thing, I'm now no longer able to work with function "pipelining" easily. I had to go and change some |> chained |> calls to (some |> chained).Calls etc. Also, it seemed to make my type system dumber--whereas with my original version, my program needed no type annotations, after converting largely to member methods, I got a bunch of errors about lookups being indeterminate at that point, and I had to go and add type annotations (an example of this is in the (/=/) above). I hope I haven't come off too dubious, as I appreciate the advice I received, and writing idiomatic code is important to me. I'm just curious why the idiom is the way it is :) Thanks!

    Firstly: I understand what WSGI is and how to use it I understand what "other" methods (Apache mod-python, fcgi, et al) are, and how to use them I understand their practical differences What I don't understand is how each of the various "other" methods work compared to something like UWSGI, behind the scenes. Does your server (Nginx, etc) route the request to your WSGI application and UWSGI creates a new Python interpreter for each request routed to it? How much different is is from the other more traditional / monkey patched methods is WSGI (aside from the different, easier Python interface that WSGI offers)? What light bulb moment am I missing?

  • WCF: WTF! Does WCF raise the bar or just the complexity level?

    I understand the value of the three-part service/host/client model offered by WCF. But is it just me or does it seem like WCF took something pretty direct and straightforward (the ASMX model) and made a mess out of it? Is there an alternative to using SvcUtil's command line step back in time to generate the proxy? With ASMX services a test harness was automatically provided; is there a good alternative today with WCF? I appreciate that the WS* stuff is more tightly integrated with WCF and hope to find some payoff for WCF there, but geeze, otherwise I'm perplexed. Also, the state of books available for WCF is abysmal at best. Juval Lowy, a superb author, has written a good O'Reilly reference book "Programming WCF Services" but it doesn't do that much (for me anyway) for learning now to use WCF. That book's precursor (and a little better organized, but not much, as a tutorial) is Michele Leroux Bustamante's Learning WCF. It has good spots but is outdated in place and its corresponding Web site is gone. Do you have good WCF learning references besides just continuing to Google the bejebus out of things? Thanks, rp

It almost worked, but unfortunately WSC set the object's type as "Dictionary", instead of "TestItemResponse", and the server complained. <TestItemResponse xsi:type=\"SOAP-ENC:Dictionary\"> <ErrorFullDescription xsi:type=\"xsd:string\">foo</ErrorFullDescription> ... I can't seem to find anything that allows you to override the type WSC assigns to the element in the SOAP XML. I've been using code adapted from here, I'm happy to list it, it's just quite long and this is already the longest SO question I've ever posted.

I changed the security permission for the test.exe to "intranet". At the same time, I want to change lib.dll to "Internet" like this: (Because I want to do some testing for security.) CasPol.exe -m -ag 1.2 -strong -file lib.dll lib 1.0.0.0 Internent But it seems the lib.dll can not get the security permission as I wanted. What is wrong with the command?
