    This seems like a fairly simple question, and I'm surprised not to have required it before. What is the most efficient way of testing a string input is a numeric (or conversely Not A Number). I guess I can do a Double.Parse or a regex (see below) public static bool IsNumeric(this string value) { return Regex.IsMatch(value, "^\\d+$"); } but I was wondering if there was a implemented way to do it, such as javascript's NaN() or IsNumeric() (was that VB, I can't remember).

I know you can use regex but I also know people can write their script tags so many ways that you can fool the regex into thinking it is OK.     I am using Firefox's native JSON.parse() to parse some JSON strings that include regular expressions as values, for example: var test = JSON.parse('{"regex":"/\\d+/"}'); The '\d' in the above throws an exception with JSON.parse(), but works fine when I use eval (which is what I'm trying to avoid). What I want is to preserve the '\' in the regex - is there some other JSON-friendly way to escape it?

    Is there a way to find all possible start positions for a regex match in perl? For example, if your regex was "aa" and the text was "aaaa", it would return 0, 1, and 2, instead of, say 0 and 2. Obviously, you could just do something like return the first match, and then delete all characters up to and including that starting character, and perform another search, but I'm hoping for something more efficient.

    I have been struggling for the past few days with this problem: Basically, I want to send to a client browser a cookie of the form foo[sha1oftheurl]=[randomvalue] if and only if the cookie has not already been set. e.g. If a client browser requests "/page.html", the HTTP response will be like: resp.http.Set-Cookie = "foo4c9ae249e9e061dd6e30893e03dc10a58cc40ee6=ABCD;" then, if the same client request "/index.html", the HTTP response will contain a header: resp.http.Set-Cookie = "foo14fe4559026d4c5b5eb530ee70300c52d99e70d7=QWERTY;" In the end, the client browser will have 2 cookies: foo4c9ae249e9e061dd6e30893e03dc10a58cc40ee6=ABCD foo14fe4559026d4c5b5eb530ee70300c52d99e70d7=QWERTY Now, that, is not complicated in itself. Which leads to this error when I try to compile: Message from VCC-compiler: Expected CSTR got 'req.http.regex' (program line 940), at ('input' Line 42 Pos 31) if(req.http.Cookie !~ req.http.regex) { ------------------------------##############--- Running VCC-compiler failed, exit 1 VCL compilation failed One could propose to solve my problem by matching on the "abtest" part of the cookie or even "abtest[a-fA-F0-9]{40}": if(!req.http.Cookie ~ "abtest[a-fA-F0-9]{40}") { set req.http.random-value = random.get_rand(); } But this code matches any cookie starting by 'abtest' and containing an hexadecimal string of 40 characters. Which means that if a client requests "/page.html" first, then "/index.html", the condition will evaluate to true even if the cookie for the "/index.html" has not been set. I found in bug report phk or someone else stating that computing regular expressions was extremely expensive which is why they are evaluated during compilation. Considering this, I believe that there is no way of achieving what I want the way I've been trying to. Is there any way of solving this problem, other than writting a vmod?   • How to target SCOM 2007 R2 monitor to monitor only one server

    Hi, This might be basic, but hopefully someone can help me: We have a well-working SCOM 2007 R2 implementation monitoring our Microsoft infrastructure. Now, on one of these servers there's an event (logged to the eventlog) that I need to be alerted on. I have created a group and put this one windows server in it. Then, I created a monitor with simple event detection, entered the event id and used the group name as "monitor target". This doesnt work - the monitor doesn't show up in health explorer at all. However, If I create the monitor with "Windows computers" as target it works, but that means I'll have to disable the monitor, and then enable it for the group, which is cumbersome and slightly illogical to me. Is this by design, or am I doing something wrong?

I want to be able to authenticate users against Windows ActiveDirectory (2008 R2) and the users file, because some of my co-workers are not listed in AD. We use the freeradius server to authenticate WLAN users.   • Why don't I have write permission to my vmware virtual network device?

    I want to allow my VMWare machine to force the virtual network it's on into promiscuous mode so I can play around with honeyd. I received an error message that told me to go to http://vmware.com/info?id=161 to allow this behavior. Based on their advice, I did: $ groupadd promiscuous $ cat /etc/group | grep promiscuous promiscuous:x:1002:robert $ usermod -a -G promiscuous robert $ id robert uid=1000(robert) gid=1000(robert) groups=1000(robert),....,1002(promiscuous) $ chgrp newgroup /dev/vmnet8 $ chmod g+rw /dev/vmnet8 $ ls -l /dev/vmnet8 crw-rw---- 1 root promiscuous 119, 8 2012-03-29 10:29 /dev/vmnet8 Looks like I gave RW permission to the promiscuous group, and added myself. Except that VMWare still gives me an error message that says I cannot enter promiscuous mode. To try out the group thing, I tried: $ echo "1" >/dev/vmnet8 bash: /dev/vmnet8: Permission denied That really surprised me: It makes me think that I still haven't properly given myself the correct permissions... What am I missing?

  • Connecting a limited user to win server 2003 through LogMeIn

    Logmein support can't help me, maybe someone here can. I have a user on a windows 2003 server (non administrator). When I first created him and tried to connect through remote desktop I got the error "The local policy of the system does not permit you to logon interactively." I looked up the error and saw that this user was not a member of the Remote Desktop Users group. I added him to the group and was able to remote desktop in just fine. Then I tried to connect this user to the server through LogMeIn (pro trial version). I got the same error as when the user was not a part of the Remote Desktop Users group ("The local policy of the system does not permit you to logon interactively."). Can anyone tell me any other groups the user must be a member of in order to be allowed access through LogMeIn? I would image this is a common requirement logmein support seemed to have no idea.
