  • How to obtain listview information without refreshing the page?

    - by user1808098
I am currently developing an Android Application for my Final Year Project. But to be honest I do not have any basic knowledges and everything started from scratch and referring to online tutorials a lot. Here is my question, I was trying to retrieve data from listview activity. There are two listview in my page using button. I was able to display the first listview but when it get data for the second listview, the data for first listview is disappeared because the page is refreshed, vice versa. What code should I modified to get both the data in the page? (Database not implemented yet) Please help, thanks a lot. Below are my codings. Codings for XML. <!-- Location --> <TextView android:id="@+id/TextViewLocation" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="5dip" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" android:text="Location Information" android:gravity="center" android:textSize="15dip" android:textColor="#025f7c"/> <!-- Condition Label --> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#372c24" android:text="Traffic Condition"/> <Button android:id="@+id/inputListView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="5dip" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" android:text="choose one..."/> <!-- Comment Label --> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#372c24" android:text="What's Happening?"/> <Button android:id="@+id/inputListView2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="5dip" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" android:text="choose one..."/> <!-- Suggestion Label --> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textColor="#372c24" android:text="Comments / Suggestion"/> <EditText android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="80dp" android:layout_marginTop="5dip" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" android:singleLine="true"/> <!-- Image button --> <Button android:id="@+id/btnImage" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="5dip" android:text="Upload Image"/> <!-- Report button --> <Button android:id="@+id/btnReportCheckin" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="5dip" android:text="Report"/> <!-- Link to Logout --> <TextView android:id="@+id/linkLogout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="5dip" android:layout_marginBottom="40dip" android:text="Log Out" android:gravity="center" android:textSize="20dip" android:textColor="#025f7c"/> </LinearLayout> <!-- Check or Report Form Ends --> Codings for Activity Class public class CheckinActivity extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Anyone has an idea why the App crashes. Any help is much appreciated. I did find out that, when I finish() the MAIN activity when I start the FriendListActivity and restart the MAIN activity when closing the FriendListActivity, that the crash does not occur. However, this basically restarts the App and that is not the intention. Thanks all, I got the problem solved. This is what I did. . When moving all gallery related actions to the onCreate, the creash didn't happen anymore. But then after returning to the MAIN activity, the activity wasn't shown. . I then moved all the onCreate (except the super), the generateGallery, and the onStart() to the onResume. Now it works fine!

  • Playing an InputStream video in Blackberry JDE.

    - by Jenny
I think I'm using InputStream incorrectly with a Blackberry 9000 simulator: I found some sample code, http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800332/1089414/How%5FTo%5F-%5FPlay%5Fvideo%5Fwithin%5Fa%5FBlackBerry%5Fsmartphone%5Fapplication.html?nodeid=1383173&vernum=0 that lets you play video from within a Blackberry App. The code claims it can handle HTTP, but it's taken some fandangling to get it to actually approach doing so: http://pastie.org/609491 Specifically, I'm doing: StreamConnection s = null; s = (StreamConnection)Connector.open("http://10.252.9.15/eggs.3gp"); HttpConnection c = (HttpConnection)s; InputStream i = c.openInputStream(); System.out.println("~~~~~I have a connection?~~~~~~" + c); System.out.println("~~~~~I have a URL?~~~~" + c.getURL()); System.out.println("~~~~~I have a type?~~~~" + c.getType()); System.out.println("~~~~~I have a status?~~~~~~" + c.getResponseCode()); System.out.println("~~~~~I have a stream?~~~~~~" + i); player = Manager.createPlayer(i, c.getType()); I've found that this is the only way I can get an InputStream from an HTTPConnection without causing a: "JUM Error 104: Uncaught NullPointer Exception". (That is, the casting as a StreamConnection, and THEN as an HttpConnection stops it from crashing). However, I'm still not streaming video. Before, a stream wasn't able to be created (it would crash with the null pointer exception). Now, a stream is being made, the debugger claims it's begining to stream video from it...and nothing happens. No video plays. The app doesn't freeze, or crash or anything. I can 'pause' and 'play' freely, and get appropriate debug messages for both. But no video shows up. If I'm playing a video stored locally on the blackberry, everything is fine (it actually plays the video), so I know the Player itself is working fine, I"m just wondering if maybe I have something wrong with my stream? The API says the player can take in an InputStream. Is there a specific kind it needs? How can I query my inputstream to know if it's valid? It existing is further than I've gotten before. -Jenny Edit: I'm on a Blackberry Bold simulator (9000). I've heard that some versions of phones do NOT stream video via HTTP, however, the Bold does. I have yet to see examples of this though. When I go to the internet and point at a blackberry playable video, it attempts to stream, and then asks me to physically download the file (and then plays fine once I download). Edit: Also, I have a physical blackberry Bold, as well, but it can't stream either (I've gone to m.youtube.com, only to get a server/content not found error). Is there something special I need to do to stream RTSP content?

  • Android addTextChangedListener onTextChanged not fired when Backspace is pressed?

    - by tsil
    I use addTextChangeListener to filter a list items. When the user enters a character on the editText, items are filtered based on user input. For example, if the user enters "stackoverflow", all items that contains "stackoverflow" are displayed. It works fine except that once the user press backspace to delete character(s), items are no longer filtered until he deletes all characters. For example, my items are: "stackoverflow 1", "stackoverflow 2", "stackoverflow 3", "stackoverflow 4". If user input is "stackoverflow", all items are displayed. If user input is "stackoverflow 1", only "stackoverflow 1" is displayed. Then user deletes the last 2 characters (1 and the space). User input is now "stackoverflow" but "stackoverflow 1" is still displayed and the other items are not displayed. This is my custom filter: private class ServiceFilter extends Filter { @Override protected FilterResults performFiltering(CharSequence constraint) { FilterResults results = new FilterResults(); if (constraint == null || constraint.length() == 0) { // No filter implemented we return all the list results.values = origServiceList; results.count = origServiceList.size(); } else { List<ServiceModel> nServiceList = new ArrayList<ServiceModel>(); for (ServiceModel s : serviceList) { if (s.getName().toLowerCase().contains(constraint.toString().toLowerCase())) { nServiceList.add(s); } } results.values = nServiceList; results.count = nServiceList.size(); } return results; } @Override protected void publishResults(CharSequence constraint, FilterResults results) { if (results.count == 0) { notifyDataSetInvalidated(); } else { serviceList = (List<ServiceModel>) results.values; notifyDataSetChanged(); } } } And how I handle text change event: inputSearch.addTextChangedListener(new TextWatcher() { @Override public void afterTextChanged(Editable arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } @Override public void beforeTextChanged(CharSequence arg0, int arg1, int arg2, int arg3) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } @Override public void onTextChanged(CharSequence cs, int arg1, int arg2, int arg3) { if (cs.length() >= 1) { mAdapter.getFilter().filter(cs); } else { mAdapter = new ServiceAdapter(MyActivity.this, R.layout.ussd_list_item, serviceList); listView.setAdapter(mAdapter); } } });

  • google-chrome video application association

    - by Ben Lee
Is there any way to tell google-chrome to launch video files of particular types in an external application (or even just to bring up the download box as if the type was un-handled), instead of showing the video inside the browser? Searching online, it seems that chrome is supposed to use xdg-mime for file associations, but apparently is ignoring this for video. For example, when I do: xdg-mime query default video/mpeg It returns dragonplayer.desktop. But when I click on a mpeg video link, chrome displays it internally instead of launching Dragon Player (if I double click on a mpeg file in my file manager, on the other hand, it does open Dragon Player). So is there a way to tell chrome to respect this setting, or another way to coax chrome into opening the file externally? If it matters, I'm running the latest version of google-chrome stable (not chromium) at the time of writing, v. 18.0.1025.151, on kubuntu 11.10.

  • Need to convert a video file from mp4 to xvid

    - by Shawn
I checked out the questions with similar titles and didn't find anything that I thought would help. I am attempting to convert a video into an avi, preferably xvid. The video file's Video and Audio Properties are as follows: Video Dimensions: 1280x544 Codec H.264/AVC Framerate: 24 frames per second Bitrate: 774 kpbs Audio Codec: MPEG-4 AAC audio Channels: Stereo Sample Rate: 48000 Hz Bitrate: 32 kpbs I have tried numerous times to convert this into an Xvid codec AVI but I have had no luck successfully getting the audio to sync properly. I am using Openshot to attempt conversion, using the libxvid codec and AVI format, but I am unsure of the proper audio settings I should use. What settings should I use to convert this video with Openshot? If it is not possible with Openshot, or if there is a better application to use, I would be grateful to know that as well.

  • Change video being played in HTML5 video

    - by Krt_Malta
Hi! I'm using the tags in HTML5 to play a video on a web browser... (and I'm very impressed with this new feature) Is there the functionality to change the video being played through Javascript? Say when I select another video from a list, a Javascript function would be called which would contain something on the lines of MyVideo.VideoLocation = //location of new video to be played. Is this possible please? Thanks and regards, Krt_Malta

  • Showing Loading screen during REST service request in android app ?

    - by sat
Currently here is what I am following, As soon as my app is launched, I have to send a request for REST service, It will take little time , so I thought of showing loading screen, In onCreate() of my Activity , first thing will be to show loading screen(progress dialog) , And I kick off the background Activity using AsyncTask , i.e. requesting for REST service and onPostexecute() I close the dialog and then I do setContentView(myxml); and update the UI . Can this approach be improved ? Problem which I faced was , Sometimes , Garbage collector may start(due to various reasons) and my app hangs at loading screen forever , because of Garbage collector , even request for REST service is not sent and because of it some wake up call comes and rest is disaster and Force close. But sometimes even ForceClose doesnot come fast , may be because of GC. so I cannot even go back and stuck in loading screen. Only thing which I can do at that point is to come back HOME. After that If I come back to my app its still loading , so definitely this approach seems to be a bad design. Whats the right approach ?

  • Software to convert .m2ts to .mts (HD video files)

    - by Kelsey
I am looking to convert some of .m2ts video files (about 80GB worth) to .mts format which the my current camera is produces natively. Is there any free software that anyone has used that can do this? I know the .m2ts is the container so I am not sure just doing a rename of the extension to .mts is valid. It works but I am not sure it is actually producing an mts stream.

  • Send HD video over SONET

    - by Fizzy
In an effort to test our new OC 192 network, we would like to find a way to stream HD video over it for a demonstration. We are looking for a device or combination of devices that connects to HDMI on one side and has a XFP client interface on the other. I understand this is a ridiculous request and we are planning on an "interesting" solution.

  • Conversion to Dalvik format failed error for Android Grid View

    - by Bub
Hey Everyone, I'm on the android bandwagon and started going through google's "view" tutorials. Here is what I'm using: Eclipse Galileo Android SDK 2.1 Java SDK 6.Something I think. Everything was hunky-dory until I hit the grid view tutorial. I got errors all over the place when I started editing the "HelloGridview.java" File. I thought I'd fix it by following through with the next part of the tutorial, creating the ImageAdapter class, but it created more. I realized alot of my issues could be resolved by importing widgets which were not mentioned in the tutorial (i.e. android.widget.GridView, .ImageView, .BaseAdapter etc.) However, after all the reconciliation suggested by eclipse the files were finally showing no errors. I go to run it as an android app and bam, "Your project contains error(s)." window comes up. There are no errors showing on the files I've created. I cleared the error log and shut down eclipse and started again the error log now reads: Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1. I'm a little lost at this point. I think I've included the required information. If you need to know more let me know. Any help is appreciated.

I've got a a8706 mp3 player. When I plug it in, it charges but doesn't mount. In XP mounting works perfectly fine. I'm using 11.10. What should I do? • Music player that remembers last song and playlist

    - by user654628
I am looking for something similar to winamp. I have seen other threads but I have tried some solutions and they did not work. I tried Banshee that comes with Ubuntu 11.10 but it does not open last song. I tried Rhythmbox with the remember last song plugin however it does not remember the playlist I got the song from so it would start shuffling all my music. I tried Amarok and it does the same thing as Banshee except cannot even play my playlist and starts playing all my music. I tried audacious but importing my playlist .m3u doesnt allow me to select the individual playlists and play them. I just moved from Windows using winamp and would like a music player that can open playlists .m3u and when I open the application later that it opens the last song and playlist and I can press the play hotkey and music will start playing on startup similar to winamp. I do not care about any additional functionality or user interface.
