  • link div to input text in firefox

    - by golf_nut
I'm using google maps api to have a map show up on my website where visitors can also find directions. I have a starting point setup and an end point. Both are text areas. The start is empty, but I want the end point to be populated with the address from a div that I already have in the page. I have the javascript as: var address = document.getElementById("address").innerText.replace(/\n/g, " "); It works in Chrome, but Firefox shows the text in the endpoint box as 'undefined.' And Firebug is giving me - document.getElementById("address").innerText is undefined [Break On This Error] var address = document.getElementB...ress").innerText.replace(/\n/g, " "); Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • Identifying the GeoPoint that trigger an onTap call

    - by Akroy
I'm developing a Google Maps app on Android. I have a number of GeoPoints that I'm displaying by adding them as OverlayItems to an ItemizedOverlay. This works well for displaying them and bringing up a nice box when I click them, however I'm trying to put info in the box it brings up. Thus, I've extended ItemizedOverlay with my own class, and I'm overriding onTap (final GeoPoint p, final MapView mapView). At first I thought that this would be very simple, as one of the parameters is the GeoPoint, so I would know exactly which GeoPoint was clicked. However, from what I can tell, the GeoPoint argument there is the GeoPoint for where the user actually touched. Given the range the user can touch and still trigger the onTap, that GeoPoint isn't very helpful for knowing precisely which GeoPoint was actually touched. I'm currently checking the parameter GeoPoint against all my existing GeoPoints and seeing which it's closest to. This seems like a super hacky abstraction inversion. Is there a better way to know what was actually tapped?

  • Replacing GTileLayer in Google Maps v3, with ImageMapType, Tile bounding box?

    - by justdev
I need to update this code: radar_layer.getTileUrl=function(tile,zoom) { var llp = new GPoint(tile.x*256,(tile.y+1)*256); var urp = new GPoint((tile.x+1)*256,tile.y*256); var ll = G_NORMAL_MAP.getProjection().fromPixelToLatLng(llp,zoom); var ur = G_NORMAL_MAP.getProjection().fromPixelToLatLng(urp,zoom); var dt = new Date(); var nowtime = dt.getTime(); var tileurl = "http://demo.remoteservice.com/cgi-bin/serve.cgi?"; tileurl+="bbox="+ll.lng()+","+ll.lat()+","+ur.lng()+","+ur.lat(); tileurl+="&width=256&height=256&reaspect=false&cachetime="+nowtime; return tileurl; }; I got as far as: var DemoLayer = new google.maps.ImageMapType({ getTileUrl: function(coord, zoom) { var llp = new google.maps.Point(coord.x*256,(coord.y+1)*256); var urp = new google.maps.Point((coord.x+1)*256,coord.y*256); var ll = googleMap.getProjection().fromPointToLatLng(llp); var ur = googleMap.getProjection().fromPointToLatLng(urp); var dt = new Date(); var nowtime = dt.getTime(); var tileurl = "http://demo.remoteservice.com/cgi-bin/serve.cgi?"; tileurl+="bbox="+ll.lng()+","+ll.lat()+","+ur.lng()+","+ur.lat(); tileurl+="&width=256&height=256&reaspect=false&cachetime="+nowtime; return tileurl; }, tileSize: new google.maps.Size(256, 256), opacity:1.0, isPng: true }); Specifically, I need help with this section: var llp = new google.maps.Point(coord.x*256,(coord.y+1)*256); var urp = new google.maps.Point((coord.x+1)*256,coord.y*256); var ll = googleMap.getProjection().fromPointToLatLng(llp); var ur = googleMap.getProjection().fromPointToLatLng(urp); The service wants the tile bounding box from what I understand. However, ll and ur do not seem to correct at all. I had it working and displaying the entire map bounding box in each tile, but of course that's not what I need. Any insight here would be greatly appreciated, not having the GTileLayers in V3 is fine if I can work around it, until then I'm frustrated.

  • How to set Android Google Maps API v2 map to show whole world map?

    - by Joao
I am developing an android application that uses a google map in the background. When I start the application, I want to display a map of the hole word. According to the android google maps API v2: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/views the way to set a specific zoom value is "CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(float)" and the same api https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/reference/com/google/android/gms/maps/CameraUpdateFactory#zoomTo(float) tells that the minimum argument to this function is 2. but when I call the function: mMap.moveCamera(CameraUpdateFactory.zoomTo(2)); The viewport of the world map is just a little bigger than Australia... How can I display the entire world map at once? Thanks in advance, João

  • Google Maps: How does Trulia create their custom InfoWIndows?

    - by NickT
I really like how Trulia.com has created their custom Google Map InfoWindows. What I like in particular about Trulia's implementation of the InfoWindow is: Extends beyond the map border: Google Maps InfoWindows are contained within the map border whereas Trulia's seems to be able to float on-top of the map Always displays InfoWindow near map Center: Google Maps InfoWindows always display the InfoWindow above the marker whereas Trulia InfoWindows always display the InfoWindow as close the center of the map as possible. For example, if the map marker icon is on the top of the map near the border, the Trulia InfoWindow is displayed below the map marker icon InfoWindow is displayed on mouse hover (not 'click'): With the default Google Maps InfoWindow, you have to 'click' the map marker icon to display the InfoWindow whereas Trulia InfoWindows are display simply by hovering over the map marker icon. I found the PdMarker, which is a 3rd party extension for Google Map InfoWindows that accomplishes most of the above bullets but not all. 1) It does not extend beyond the map border, 2) it does not work with Google Maps API version 3 (only version 2). Anyone know how Trulia is accomplishing their InfoWindow-like implementation on Google Maps API v3?

  • What parameters should I use in a Google Maps URL to go to a lat-lon?

    - by xpda
I would like to produce a url for Google Maps that goes to a specific latitude and longitude. Now, I generate a url such as this: http://maps.google.com/maps?z=11&t=k&q=58 41.881N 152 31.324W The resulting map comes up with a round "A" balloon pointer, which seems to point to the nearest named object, and a green arrow, which points to the lat-lon. Sometimes, as in this example, the "A" pointer is centered and is far enough away that you cannot see the pointer to the lat-lon. (Zoom out to see both pointers in this example. The "A" pointer is in the center of Alaska, while the lat-long pointer is on Kodiak Island.) Are there some parameters I can use in the Google Maps URL that will produce a single pointer to a designated lat-lon? (This loads in a separate window. It is not embedded.)

  • Using google maps API, how can we set the current location as the default set location using map.set

    - by vs1984
I am writing Javascript code using Google maps API. map = new google.maps.Map2(document.getElementById("map_canvas")); map.setCenter(new google.maps.LatLng(37.4419, -122.1419), 13); The above code sets the default location of the map canvas to Palo Alto. How can we write the script in such a way that the setCenter function automatically points to the current location of the client?

  • Building a Store Locator ASP.NET Application Using Google Maps API (Part 3)

Over the past two weeks I've showed how to build a store locator application using ASP.NET and the free <a href="http://code.google.com/apis/maps/">Google Maps API</a> and Google's geocoding service. <a href="http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/051910-1.aspx">Part 1</a> looked at creating the database to record the store locations. This database contains a table named <code>Stores</code> with columns capturing each store's address and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latitude">latitude</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longitude">longitude</a> coordinates. Part 1 also showed how to use Google's geocoding service to translate a user-entered address

  • Exploding maps in Reporting Services 2008 R2

    - by Rob Farley
Kaboom! Well, that was the imagery that secretly appeared in my mind when I saw “USA By State Exploded” in the list of installed maps in Report Builder 3.0 – part of the spatial offering of SQL Server Reporting Server 2008 R2. Alas, it just means that the borders are bigger. Clicking on it showed me. Unfortunately, I’m not interested in maps of the US. None of my clients are there (at least, not yet – feel free to get in touch if you want to change this ‘feature’ of my company). So instead, I’ve recently been getting hold of some data for Australian areas. I’ve just bought some PostCode shapes for South Australia, and will use this in demos for conferences and for showing clients how this kind of report can really impact their reporting. One of the companies I was talking about getting shape files sent me a sample. So I chose the “ESRI shapefile” option you see above, and browsed to my file. It appeared in the window like this: Australians will immediately recognise this as the area around Wollongong, just south of Sydney. Well, apart from me. I didn’t. I had to put a Bing Maps layer behind it to work that out, but that’s not for this post. The thing that I discovered was that if I selected the Exploded USA option (but without clicking Next), and then chose my shape file, then my area around Wollongong would be exploded too! Huh! I think this is actually a bug, but a potentially useful one! Some further investigation (involving creating two identical reports, one with this exploded view, one without), showed that the Exploded View is done by reducing the ScaleFactor property of the PolygonLayer in the map control. The Exploded version has it below 1. If you set to above one, your shapes overlap. I discovered this by accident… I guess I hadn’t looked through all the PolygonLayer options to work out what they all do. And because this post is about Reporting, it can qualify for this month’s T-SQL Tuesday, hosted by Aaron Nelson (@sqlvariant). • Normals vs Normal maps

    - by KaiserJohaan
I am using Assimp asset importer (http://assimp.sourceforge.net/lib_html/index.html) to parse 3d models. So far, I've simply pulled out the normal vectors which are defined for each vertex in my meshes. Yet I have also found various tutorials on normal maps... As I understand it for normal maps, the normal vectors are stored in each texel of a normal map, and you pull these out of the normal texture in the shader. Why is there two ways to get the normals, which one is considered best-practice and why?

[IMG]http://ftp-developpez.com/gordon-fowler/Goo...

  • bump mapping with 2 normal maps

    I was wondering if its actually possible to do bump mapping with 2 normal maps... I have tried doing it this way however I get a function overload on max and dot. uniform sampler2D n_mapTex; uniform sampler2D n_mapTex2; uniform sampler2D refTex; varying mediump vec2 TexCoord; varying mediump float vTime; void main() { mediump vec4 wave = texture2D(n_mapTex, TexCoord - vTime); mediump vec4 wave2 = texture2D(n_mapTex2, TexCoord + vTime); mediump vec4 bump = mix(wave2, wave, 0.5); //this extracts the normals from the combined normal maps mediump vec4 normal = normalize(bump.xyzw * 2.0 - 1.0); //determines light position mediump vec3 lightPos = normalize(vec3(0.0, 1.0, 3.0)); mediump float diffuse = max(dot(normal, lightPos),0.0); gl_FragColor = mix(texture2D(refTex, TexCoord), bump, 0.5); }

  • GUnload is null or undefined using Directions Service

    - by user1677756
I'm getting an error using Google Maps API V3 that I don't understand. My initial map displays just fine, but when I try to get directions, I get the following two errors: Error: The value of the property 'GUnload' is null or undefined, not a Function object Error: Unable to get value of the property 'setDirections': object is null or undefined I'm not using GUnload anywhere, so I don't understand why I'm getting that error. As far as the second error is concerned, it's as if something is wrong with the Directions service. Here is my code: var directionsDisplay; var directionsService = new google.maps.DirectionsService(); var map; function initialize(address) { directionsDisplay = new google.maps.DirectionsRenderer(); var geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(42.733963, -84.565501); var mapOptions = { center: latlng, zoom: 15, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), mapOptions); geocoder.geocode({ 'address': address }, function (results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { map.setCenter(results[0].geometry.location); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ map: map, position: results[0].geometry.location }); } else { alert("Geocode was not successful for the following reason: " + status); } }); directionsDisplay.setMap(map); } function getDirections(start, end) { var request = { origin:start, destination:end, travelMode: google.maps.TravelMode.DRIVING }; directionsService.route(request, function(result, status) { if (status == google.maps.DirectionsStatus.OK) { directionsDisplay.setDirections(result); } else { alert("Directions cannot be displayed for the following reason: " + status); } }); } I'm not very savvy with javascript, so I could have made some sort of error there. I appreciate any help I can get.

  • Flex maps howto examples

    - by alessandro ferrucci
Hello, I've stumbled upon this flash map http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/nation/unemployment-by-county/ it looks like they used this map to construct the website. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:USA_Counties_with_FIPS_and_names.svg I am curious as to what people have done or any blogs that describe what can be done with flex and simple maps like this (not google maps style maps) but simple all-in-memory maps like this one. It would be cool to see what/ and how flex can do in terms of maps. thanks!
