  • Can I attach a .NET TraceListener to an externally running process?

    - by BBlake
    I am developing an application scheduling program that will run other applications using System.Diagnostics.Process. The external applications are of various types (some .NET and some not). For those external apps that have trace logging enabled, is there a way that I can attach the tracelistener of the parent/calling application to listen to and record all the trace output from the child/called application to the parent application's trace output? This is not primarily for debugging purposes. This is more to track trace output from all the various scheduled applications by collecting it into one place as much as possible. The scheduler app is still in the early design stages, but will be .NET, and I'm trying to clear up potential design issues before I get into it too far.

  • undefined method `events' for #<ActiveRecord::Relation:0x4177518> -rails 3.0.3

    - by brg
    I am having this unexplained NoMethodError with undefined method `events' for #. I don't know why since my model association are well defined and the event table has the foreign keys for the user table. I tried using this fix but it failed: Rails 3 ActiveRecord::Relation random associations behavior event.rb class Event < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user attr_accessible :event_name, :Starts_at, :finish, :tracks end user.rb class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :events, :dependent = :destroy attr_accessible :name, :event_attributes accepts_nested_attributes_for :events, :allow_destroy = true end schema.rb ActiveRecord::Schema.define(:version = 20101201180355) do create_table "events", :force = true do |t| t.string "event_name" t.string "tracks" t.datetime "starts_at" t.datetime "finish" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" t.integer "user_id" end end error message NoMethodError in Users#index undefined method `events' for # Extracted source (around line #10): 7: <%= sortable "Tracks" % 8: 10: <% @users.events.each do |event| % 11: <% debugger % 12: 13: <%= event.starts_at % Trace of template inclusion: app/views/users/index.html.erb Rails.root: C:/rails_project1/events_manager Application Trace | Framework Trace | Full Trace app/views/users/_event_user.html.erb:10:in _app_views_users__event_user_html_erb__412443848_34308540_1390678' app/views/users/index.html.erb:7:in_app_views_users_index_html_erb___603337143_34316016_0'

  • Adding code to the beginning / end of methods in runtime dynamically

    - by Irchi
    I know instrumentation is a technique to add trace code dynamically into the methods to enable tracing and debugging. I was wondering if this is only a "Trace" option, hard coded into the CLR to add only trace code, or is there the ability to add any code to the methods? For example, I want to check for a condition in the beginning of every single method call in a certain class (say for permissions). Can I do this via adding dynamic code to the beginning of the methods in execution time? I'm not sure how this trace "instrumentation" thing works, but I'm wondering if this can be used for other goals too, or not.

  • WCF Diagnostics tracing and WAS hosting?

    - by Per Salmi
    I have a WAS hosted set of services configured to use net.tcp running under an IIS AppPool user account. When hosting the services with WAS I have a hard time getting any diagnostic tracing out of them to track down problems. The same services with tracing set to use i.e. c:\logs\trace.svclog as trace output works fine when using self-hosting in a console application. I don't seem to get any trace output at all when hosting with WAS, are there any special settings I need to get trace output under WAS? I have set a fixed output path for tracing and assigned permissions to the folder for the IIS AppPool\MyAppPool-user. /Per Salmi

  • OSX launchctl programmatically as root

    - by Lukas1
    I'm trying to start samba service using launchctl from OSX app as root, but I get error status -60031. I can run without problems the command in Terminal: sudo launchctl load -F /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist` In the objective-c code, I'm using (I know it's deprecated, but that really shouldn't be the issue here) AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges method. Here's the code: NSString *command = @"launchctl"; // Conversion of NSArray args to char** args here (not relevant part of the code) OSStatus authStatus = AuthorizationCreate(NULL, kAuthorizationEmptyEnvironment, kAuthorizationFlagDefaults, &_authRef); if (authStatus != errAuthorizationSuccess) { NSLog(@"Failed to create application authorization: %d", (int)authStatus); return; } FILE* pipe = NULL; AuthorizationFlags flags = kAuthorizationFlagDefaults; AuthorizationItem right = {kAuthorizationRightExecute, 0, NULL, 0}; AuthorizationRights rights = {1, &right}; // Call AuthorizationCopyRights to determine or extend the allowable rights. OSStatus stat = AuthorizationCopyRights(_authRef, &rights, NULL, flags, NULL); if (stat != errAuthorizationSuccess) { NSLog(@"Copy Rights Unsuccessful: %d", (int)stat); return; } OSStatus status = AuthorizationExecuteWithPrivileges(_authRef, command.UTF8String, flags, args, &pipe); if (status != errAuthorizationSuccess) { NSLog(@"Error executing command %@ with status %d", command, status); } else { // some other stuff } I have also tried using different flags then kAuthorizationFlagDefaults, but that led to either the same problem or error code -60011 - invalid flags. What am I doing wrong here, please?

  • ActionScript 2: Event doesn't fire?

    - by Pascal Schuster
    So I have a soundHandler class that's supposed to play sounds and then point back to a function on the timeline when the sound has completed playing. But somehow, only one of the sounds plays when I try it out. EDIT: After that sound plays, nothing happens, even though I have EventHandlers set up that are supposed to do something. Here's the code: import mx.events.EventDispatcher; class soundHandler { private var dispatchEvent:Function; public var addEventListener:Function; public var removeEventListener:Function; var soundToPlay; var soundpath:String; var soundtype:String; var prefix:String; var mcname:String; public function soundHandler(soundpath:String, prefix:String, soundtype:String, mcname:String) { EventDispatcher.initialize(this); _root.createEmptyMovieClip(mcname, 1); this.soundpath = soundpath; this.soundtype = soundtype; this.prefix = prefix; this.mcname = mcname; } function playSound(file, callbackfunc) { _root.soundToPlay = new Sound(_root.mcname); _global.soundCallbackfunc = callbackfunc; _root.soundToPlay.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) { if (success) { _root.soundToPlay.start(); } }; _root.soundToPlay.onSoundComplete = function():Void { trace("Sound Complete: "+this.soundtype+this.prefix+this.file+".mp3"); trace(arguments.caller); dispatchEvent({type:_global.soundCallbackfunc}); trace(this.toString()); trace(this.callbackfunction); }; _root.soundToPlay.loadSound("../sound/"+soundpath+"/"+soundtype+prefix+file+".mp3", true); _root.soundToPlay.stop(); } } Here's the code from the .fla file: var playSounds:soundHandler = new soundHandler("signup", "su", "s", "mcs1"); var file = "000"; playSounds.addEventListener("sixtyseconds", this); playSounds.addEventListener("transition", this); function sixtyseconds() { trace("I am being called! Sixtyseconds"); var phase = 1; var file = random(6); if (file == 0) { file = 1; } if (file<10) { file = "0"+file; } file = phase+file; playSounds.playSound(file, "transition"); } function transition() { trace("this works"); } playSounds.playSound(file, "sixtyseconds"); I'm at a total loss for this one. Have been wasting hours to figure it out already. Any help will be deeply appreciated.

  • XMLNodes being appended to an XMLNode are "undefined"? Actionscript 2.0 is being unkind

    - by DigitalMercenary
    If anyone can offer an explanation for this one, I'd LOVE to see it! I was required to append a legacy application to display 20 random questions from an XML data source, as opposed to the total of 70 questions that are part of the original XML. No big deal, right? WRONG! I got it to work just fine in the end, but it's a total HACK! For some reason, some of the nodes that I am appending to a dynamically generated XML document are being returned as "undefined". I kept getting between 16 and 20 questions to render until I modified my iteration from a 'for' loop to a 'do while' loop with the appropriate number of XMLNodes as the condition of the 'do while' loop. Can anyone offer an explanation? Below is the code, with some notes for the reader : function editXML(xml:XML):XML { var node:XMLNode = xml.firstChild; var newNode:XMLNode = new XMLNode(); var nodeArray:Array = new Array(); var usedNodes:Array = new Array(); var totalNodes:Number = node.lastChild.childNodes.length - 1; var nextNode:Number; var returnNode:XMLNode = new XMLNode(); var tempNode:XMLNode; var buildNode:XMLNode; var addNode:Boolean = true; var tempXML:XML = new XML(); var pagesNode:XMLNode = tempXML.createElement("pages"); tempXML.appendChild(pagesNode); tempXML.appendChild(node.childNodes[0]); tempXML.appendChild(node.childNodes[1]); tempXML.appendChild(node.childNodes[2]); var questionsNode:XMLNode = tempXML.createElement("pages"); tempXML.firstChild.appendChild(questionsNode); do { nextNode = Math.floor(Math.random()*totalNodes); **//random number to represent random node** //trace(nextNode + " nextNode"); **//check usedNodes Array to look for node.childNodes[nextNode]. If it already exists, skip and reloop.** trace(node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode] + " : pre building Node " + totalNodes); if(usedNodes.length == 0) { buildNode = new XMLNode(); buildNode.nodeName = node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode].nodeName; buildNode.nodeValue = node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode].nodeValue; tempXML.firstChild.lastChild.appendChild(node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode]) usedNodes.push(node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode]); nodeArray.push(node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode]); trace("adding first node : " + nodeArray.length); addNode = false; } else { for(var j:Number = 0; j < usedNodes.length; j++) { if(usedNodes[j] == node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode]) { addNode = false; trace("skipping node : " + nodeArray.length); } } } **//if node not in usedNodes, add node to XML** if(addNode) { trace(node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode] + " : building Node"); **//This trace statement produced a valid node** tempXML.firstChild.lastChild.appendChild(node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode]); **//Before modifying the code from adding nodes to the xml from an Array called 'nodeArray' in a for loop to adding nodes directly to the xml in a do while loop with the length of the xml node used to retrieve data for the questions as the condition, I was not always getting 20 questions. Some of the nodes were being rendered as 'undefined' and not appended to the xml, even though they were traced and proven valid before the attemp to append them to the xml was made** usedNodes.push(node.childNodes[1].childNodes[nextNode]); } addNode = true; } while(tempXML.firstChild.lastChild.childNodes.length <= 19); trace(tempXML.firstChild.lastChild.childNodes.length + " final nodes Length"); courseXML = tempXML; //removes the old question list of 70 and replaces it with the new question list of 20. Question list is the last node. return tempXML; } If I had my choice, I would have rebuilt the whole application in Flex with AS3. I didn't have that choice. If anyone can explain this mystery, PLEASE DO! Thank you in advance!

  • Is it possible to wrap calls to statically linked 3rd party library?

    - by robusta
    Hi, I would like to trace calls to some 3rd party library which are made from another 3rd party library. Example: I want to trace calls to library A. My application statically links library B, which in turn is statically linked to library A. In case of dynamic linking I could write library A2 with wrappers for functions which I want to trace of library A and use LD_PRELOAD=A2.so. Then, my wrappers will be called instead, and I will see the trace. In my case I cannot use dynamic linking. Is it possible to achieve the same using static linking? Thanks, Robusta

  • Refactor This (Ugly Code)!

    - by Alois Kraus
    Ayende has put on his blog some ugly code to refactor. First and foremost it is nearly impossible to reason about other peoples code without knowing the driving forces behind the current code. It is certainly possible to make it much cleaner when potential sources of errors cannot happen in the first place due to good design. I can see what the intention of the code is but I do not know about every brittle detail if I am allowed to reorder things here and there to simplify things. So I decided to make it much simpler by identifying the different responsibilities of the methods and encapsulate it in different classes. The code we need to refactor seems to deal with a handler after a message has been sent to a message queue. The handler does complete the current transaction if there is any and does handle any errors happening there. If during the the completion of the transaction errors occur the transaction is at least disposed. We can enter the handler already in a faulty state where we try to deliver the complete event in any case and signal a failure event and try to resend the message again to the queue if it was not inside a transaction. All is decorated with many try/catch blocks, duplicated code and some state variables to route the program flow. It is hard to understand and difficult to reason about. In other words: This code is a mess and could be written by me if I was under pressure. Here comes to code we want to refactor:         private void HandleMessageCompletion(                                      Message message,                                      TransactionScope tx,                                      OpenedQueue messageQueue,                                      Exception exception,                                      Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> messageCompleted,                                      Action<CurrentMessageInformation> beforeTransactionCommit)         {             var txDisposed = false;             if (exception == null)             {                 try                 {                     if (tx != null)                     {                         if (beforeTransactionCommit != null)                             beforeTransactionCommit(currentMessageInformation);                         tx.Complete();                         tx.Dispose();                         txDisposed = true;                     }                     try                     {                         if (messageCompleted != null)                             messageCompleted(currentMessageInformation, exception);                     }                     catch (Exception e)                     {                         Trace.TraceError("An error occured when raising the MessageCompleted event, the error will NOT affect the message processing"+ e);                     }                     return;                 }                 catch (Exception e)                 {                     Trace.TraceWarning("Failed to complete transaction, moving to error mode"+ e);                     exception = e;                 }             }             try             {                 if (txDisposed == false && tx != null)                 {                     Trace.TraceWarning("Disposing transaction in error mode");                     tx.Dispose();                 }             }             catch (Exception e)             {                 Trace.TraceWarning("Failed to dispose of transaction in error mode."+ e);             }             if (message == null)                 return;                 try             {                 if (messageCompleted != null)                     messageCompleted(currentMessageInformation, exception);             }             catch (Exception e)             {                 Trace.TraceError("An error occured when raising the MessageCompleted event, the error will NOT affect the message processing"+ e);             }               try             {                 var copy = MessageProcessingFailure;                 if (copy != null)                     copy(currentMessageInformation, exception);             }             catch (Exception moduleException)             {                 Trace.TraceError("Module failed to process message failure: " + exception.Message+                                              moduleException);             }               if (messageQueue.IsTransactional == false)// put the item back in the queue             {                 messageQueue.Send(message);             }         }     You can see quite some processing and handling going on there. Yes this looks like real world code one did put together to make things work and he does not trust his callbacks. I guess these are event handlers which are optional and the delegates were extracted from an event to call them back later when necessary.  Lets see what the author of this code did intend:          private void HandleMessageCompletion(             TransactionHandler transactionHandler,             MessageCompletionHandler handler,             CurrentMessageInformation messageInfo,             ErrorCollector errors             )         {               // commit current pending transaction             transactionHandler.CallHandlerAndCommit(messageInfo, errors);               // We have an error for a null message do not send completion event             if (messageInfo.CurrentMessage == null)                 return;               // Send completion event in any case regardless of errors             handler.OnMessageCompleted(messageInfo, errors);               // put message back if queue is not transactional             transactionHandler.ResendMessageOnError(messageInfo.CurrentMessage, errors);         }   I did not bother to write the intention here again since the code should be pretty self explaining by now. I have used comments to explain the still nontrivial procedure step by step revealing the real intention about all this complex program flow. The original complexity of the problem domain does not go away but by applying the techniques of SRP (Single Responsibility Principle) and some functional style but we can abstract the necessary complexity away in useful abstractions which make it much easier to reason about it. Since most of the method seems to deal with errors I thought it was a good idea to encapsulate the error state of our current message in an ErrorCollector object which stores all exceptions in a list along with a description what the error all was about in the exception itself. We can log it later or not depending on the log level or whatever. It is really just a simple list that encapsulates the current error state.          class ErrorCollector          {              List<Exception> _Errors = new List<Exception>();                public void Add(Exception ex, string description)              {                  ex.Data["Description"] = description;                  _Errors.Add(ex);              }                public Exception Last              {                  get                  {                      return _Errors.LastOrDefault();                  }              }                public bool HasError              {                  get                  {                      return _Errors.Count > 0;                  }              }          }   Since the error state is global we have two choices to store a reference in the other helper objects (TransactionHandler and MessageCompletionHandler)or pass it to the method calls when necessary. I did chose the latter one because a second argument does not hurt and makes it easier to reason about the overall state while the helper objects remain stateless and immutable which makes the helper objects much easier to understand and as a bonus thread safe as well. This does not mean that the stored member variables are stateless or thread safe as well but at least our helper classes are it. Most of the complexity is located the transaction handling I consider as a separate responsibility that I delegate to the TransactionHandler which does nothing if there is no transaction or Call the Before Commit Handler Commit Transaction Dispose Transaction if commit did throw In fact it has a second responsibility to resend the message if the transaction did fail. I did see a good fit there since it deals with transaction failures.          class TransactionHandler          {              TransactionScope _Tx;              Action<CurrentMessageInformation> _BeforeCommit;              OpenedQueue _MessageQueue;                public TransactionHandler(TransactionScope tx, Action<CurrentMessageInformation> beforeCommit, OpenedQueue messageQueue)              {                  _Tx = tx;                  _BeforeCommit = beforeCommit;                  _MessageQueue = messageQueue;              }                public void CallHandlerAndCommit(CurrentMessageInformation currentMessageInfo, ErrorCollector errors)              {                  if (_Tx != null && !errors.HasError)                  {                      try                      {                          if (_BeforeCommit != null)                          {                              _BeforeCommit(currentMessageInfo);                          }                            _Tx.Complete();                          _Tx.Dispose();                      }                      catch (Exception ex)                      {                          errors.Add(ex, "Failed to complete transaction, moving to error mode");                          Trace.TraceWarning("Disposing transaction in error mode");                          try                          {                              _Tx.Dispose();                          }                          catch (Exception ex2)                          {                              errors.Add(ex2, "Failed to dispose of transaction in error mode.");                          }                      }                  }              }                public void ResendMessageOnError(Message message, ErrorCollector errors)              {                  if (errors.HasError && !_MessageQueue.IsTransactional)                  {                      _MessageQueue.Send(message);                  }              }          } If we need to change the handling in the future we have a much easier time to reason about our application flow than before. After we did complete our transaction and called our callback we can call the completion handler which is the main purpose of the HandleMessageCompletion method after all. The responsiblity o the MessageCompletionHandler is to call the completion callback and the failure callback when some error has occurred.            class MessageCompletionHandler          {              Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> _MessageCompletedHandler;              Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> _MessageProcessingFailure;                public MessageCompletionHandler(Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> messageCompletedHandler,                                              Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> messageProcessingFailure)              {                  _MessageCompletedHandler = messageCompletedHandler;                  _MessageProcessingFailure = messageProcessingFailure;              }                  public void OnMessageCompleted(CurrentMessageInformation currentMessageInfo, ErrorCollector errors)              {                  try                  {                      if (_MessageCompletedHandler != null)                      {                          _MessageCompletedHandler(currentMessageInfo, errors.Last);                      }                  }                  catch (Exception ex)                  {                      errors.Add(ex, "An error occured when raising the MessageCompleted event, the error will NOT affect the message processing");                  }                    if (errors.HasError)                  {                      SignalFailedMessage(currentMessageInfo, errors);                  }              }                void SignalFailedMessage(CurrentMessageInformation currentMessageInfo, ErrorCollector errors)              {                  try                  {                      if (_MessageProcessingFailure != null)                          _MessageProcessingFailure(currentMessageInfo, errors.Last);                  }                  catch (Exception moduleException)                  {                      errors.Add(moduleException, "Module failed to process message failure");                  }              }            }   If for some reason I did screw up the logic and we need to call the completion handler from our Transaction handler we can simple add to the CallHandlerAndCommit method a third argument to the MessageCompletionHandler and we are fine again. If the logic becomes even more complex and we need to ensure that the completed event is triggered only once we have now one place the completion handler to capture the state. During this refactoring I simple put things together that belong together and came up with useful abstractions. If you look at the original argument list of the HandleMessageCompletion method I have put many things together:   Original Arguments New Arguments Encapsulate Message message CurrentMessageInformation messageInfo         Message message TransactionScope tx Action<CurrentMessageInformation> beforeTransactionCommit OpenedQueue messageQueue TransactionHandler transactionHandler        TransactionScope tx        OpenedQueue messageQueue        Action<CurrentMessageInformation> beforeTransactionCommit Exception exception,             ErrorCollector errors Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> messageCompleted MessageCompletionHandler handler          Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> messageCompleted          Action<CurrentMessageInformation, Exception> messageProcessingFailure The reason is simple: Put the things that have relationships together and you will find nearly automatically useful abstractions. I hope this makes sense to you. If you see a way to make it even more simple you can show Ayende your improved version as well.

  • Juju Openstack bundle: Can't launch an instance

    - by user281985
    Deployed bundle:~makyo/openstack/2/openstack, on top of 7 physical boxes and 3 virtual ones. After changing vip_iface strings to point to right devices, e.g., br0 instead of eth0, and defining "/mnt/loopback|30G", in Cinder's block-device string, am able to navigate through openstack dashboard, error free. Following http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/install/apt/content/running-an-instance.html instructions, attempted to launch cirros 0.3.1 image; however, novalist shows the instance in • Apache reverse proxy POST 403

    - by qkslvrwolf
    I am trying to get Jira and Stash to talk to each other via a Trusted Application link. The setup, currently, looks like this: Jira - http - Jira Proxy -https- stash proxy -http- stash. Jira and the Jira proxy are on the same machine. The Jira Proxy is showing 403 Forbidden for POST requests from the stash server. It works (or seems to ) for everything else. I contend that since we're seeing 403 forbiddens in the access log for apache, Jira is never seeing the request. Why is apache forbidding posts,and how do I fix it? Note that the IPs for both Stash and the Stash Proxy are in the "trusted host" section. • volume group disappeared after xfs_check run

    - by John P
    EDIT** I have a volume group consisting of 5 RAID1 devices grouped together into a lvm and formatted with xfs. The 5th RAID device lost its RAID config (cat /proc/mdstat does not show anything). The two drives are still present (sdj and sdk), but they have no partitions. The LVM appeared to be happily using sdj up until recently. (doing a pvscan showed the first 4 RAID1 devices + /dev/sdj) I removed the LVM from the fstab, rebooted, then ran xfs_check on the LV. It ran for about half an hour, then stopped with an error. I tried rebooting again, and this time when it came up, the logical volume was no longer there. It is now looking for /dev/md5, which is gone (though it had been using /dev/sdj earlier). /dev/sdj was having read errors, but after replacing the SATA cable, those went away, so the drive appears to be fine for now. Can I modify the /etc/lvm/backup/dedvol, change the device to /dev/sdj and do a vgcfgrestore? I could try doing a pvcreate --uuid KZron2-pPTr-ZYeQ-PKXX-4Woq-6aNc-AG4rRJ /dev/sdj to make it recognize it, but I'm afraid that would erase the data on the drive UPDATE: just changing the pv to point to /dev/sdj did not work vgcfgrestore --file /etc/lvm/backup/dedvol dedvol Couldn't find device with uuid 'KZron2-pPTr-ZYeQ-PKXX-4Woq-6aNc-AG4rRJ'. • iptables 1.4 and passive FTP on custom port

    - by Cracky
    after the upgrade from debian squeeze to wheezy I've got a problem with passive FTP connection. I could narrow it to be iptables related, as I could connect via FTP w/o problems after adding my IP to the iptables ACCEPT rule. Before the upgrade I was able just to do modprobe nf_conntract_ftp ports=21332 and adding iptables -A THRU -p tcp --dport 21332 -m state --state NEW,ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT now..it doesn't help anymore. The INPUT rule is being triggered as I can see in the counter, but the directory listing is the last thing it does. Setting up a passive-port range is the last thing I want to do, I dislike open ports. I also tried the trick with helper mod by adding following rule before the actual rule for 21332 iptables -A THRU -p tcp -i eth0 --dport 21332 -m state --state NEW -m helper --helper ftp-21332 -j ACCEPT but it doesn't help and is even not being triggered according to counter. The rule in the next line (w/o helper) is being triggered.. here some info: # iptables --version iptables v1.4.14 # lsmod |grep nf_ nf_nat_ftp 12460 0 nf_nat 18242 1 nf_nat_ftp nf_conntrack_ftp 12605 1 nf_nat_ftp nf_conntrack_ipv4 14078 32 nf_nat nf_defrag_ipv4 12483 1 nf_conntrack_ipv4 nf_conntrack 52720 7 xt_state,nf_conntrack_ipv4,xt_conntrack,nf_conntrack_ftp,nf_nat,nf_nat_ftp,xt_helper # uname -a Linux loki 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.46-1 x86_64 GNU/Linux # iptables-save # Generated by iptables-save v1.4.14 on Sun Jun 30 03:54:28 2013 *filter :INPUT ACCEPT [0:0] :FORWARD ACCEPT [0:0] :OUTPUT ACCEPT [0:0] :BLACKLIST - [0:0] :LOGDROP - [0:0] :SPAM - [0:0] :THRU - [0:0] :WEB - [0:0] :fail2ban-dovecot-pop3imap - [0:0] :fail2ban-pureftpd - [0:0] :fail2ban-ssh - [0:0] -A INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --dports 110,995,143,993 -j fail2ban-dovecot-pop3imap -A INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --dports 21,21332 -j fail2ban-pureftpd -A INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --dports 22 -j fail2ban-ssh -A INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --dports 110,995,143,993 -j fail2ban-dovecot-pop3imap -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --tcp-flags FIN,SYN,RST,PSH,ACK,URG NONE -j DROP -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --tcp-flags FIN,SYN FIN,SYN -j DROP -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST SYN,RST -j DROP -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --tcp-flags FIN,RST FIN,RST -j DROP -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --tcp-flags FIN,ACK FIN -j DROP -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --tcp-flags ACK,URG URG -j DROP -A INPUT -m conntrack --ctstate RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -j BLACKLIST -A INPUT -j THRU -A INPUT -j LOGDROP -A OUTPUT -j ACCEPT -A OUTPUT -s 93.223.38.223/32 -j ACCEPT -A BLACKLIST -s 38.113.165.0/24 -j LOGDROP -A BLACKLIST -s 202.177.216.0/24 -j LOGDROP -A BLACKLIST -s 130.117.190.0/24 -j LOGDROP -A BLACKLIST -s 117.79.92.0/24 -j LOGDROP -A BLACKLIST -s 72.47.228.0/24 -j LOGDROP -A BLACKLIST -s 195.200.70.0/24 -j LOGDROP -A BLACKLIST -s 195.200.71.0/24 -j LOGDROP -A LOGDROP -m limit --limit 5/sec -j LOG --log-prefix drop_packet_ --log-level 7 -A LOGDROP -p tcp -m tcp --dport 25 -m limit --limit 2/sec -j LOG --log-prefix spam_blacklist --log-level 7 -A LOGDROP -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -m limit --limit 2/sec -j LOG --log-prefix web_blacklist --log-level 7 -A LOGDROP -p tcp -m tcp --dport 22 -m limit --limit 2/sec -j LOG --log-prefix ssh_blacklist --log-level 7 -A LOGDROP -j REJECT --reject-with icmp-host-prohibited -A THRU -p icmp -m limit --limit 1/sec -m icmp --icmp-type 8 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 25 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p udp -m udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 110 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 143 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 465 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 585 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 993 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 995 -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 2008 -m state --state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 10011 -m state --state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 21332 -m state --state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A THRU -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 30033 -m state --state NEW,RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A fail2ban-dovecot-pop3imap -j RETURN -A fail2ban-dovecot-pop3imap -j RETURN -A fail2ban-pureftpd -j RETURN -A fail2ban-pureftpd -j RETURN -A fail2ban-ssh -j RETURN -A fail2ban-ssh -j RETURN COMMIT # Completed on Sun Jun 30 03:54:28 2013 So, as I said, I have no problems with connecting when adding my IP to go through..but that's not a solution as noone except me can connect anymore~ If someone got an idea what the problem is, please help me!   • MacBook Pro Late 2009 SATA Resets, Slowness

    - by A Student at a University
    My MacBook Pro runs slower the longer it's on. I am getting kernel warnings. The resets correlate with AC power connects and disconnects. I don't know if the warnings do. (How do I tell?) Are these bus CRC errors? Or something else? Can this damage the drive or corrupt data? What is it seeing that motivates these? 02:37:16 :[ 0.791992] ahci 0000:00:0b.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LSI0] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 20 02:37:16 :[ 0.792053] ahci 0000:00:0b.0: controller can't do PMP, turning off CAP_PMP 02:37:16 :[ 0.792104] ahci 0000:00:0b.0: AHCI 0001.0200 32 slots 6 ports 1.5 Gbps 0x3 impl IDE mode 02:37:16 :[ 0.792107] ahci 0000:00:0b.0: flags: 64bit ncq sntf pm led pio slum part boh 02:37:16 :[ 0.813473] scsi0 : ahci 02:37:16 :[ 0.823340] scsi1 : ahci 02:37:16 :[ 0.848164] ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 abar m8192@0xe7484000 port 0xe7484100 irq 43 02:37:16 :[ 0.848166] ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 abar m8192@0xe7484000 port 0xe7484180 irq 43 02:37:16 :[ 1.190132] ata1: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300) 02:37:16 :[ 1.190153] ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300) 02:37:16 :[ 1.213568] ata1.00: ATA-8: OCZ-VERTEX2, 1.23, max UDMA/133 02:37:16 :[ 1.213572] ata1.00: 195371568 sectors, multi 1: LBA48 NCQ (depth 31/32) 02:37:16 :[ 1.227293] ata2.00: ATA-8: ST9500420ASG, 0002SDM1, max UDMA/133 02:37:16 :[ 1.227297] ata2.00: 976773168 sectors, multi 16: LBA48 NCQ (depth 31/32) 02:37:16 :[ 1.229570] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/133 02:37:16 :[ 1.240133] ata2: hard resetting link 02:37:16 :[ 1.260738] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/133 02:37:16 :[ 1.280122] ata1: hard resetting link 02:37:16 :[ 1.470125] usb 2-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 02:37:16 :[ 1.550165] firewire_core: created device fw0: GUID 58b035fffea99f5c, S800 02:37:16 :[ 1.631306] Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... 02:37:16 :[ 1.631392] scsi6 : usb-storage 2-5:1.0 02:37:16 :[ 1.631454] usbcore: registered new interface driver usb-storage 02:37:16 :[ 1.631455] USB Mass Storage support registered. 02:37:16 :[ 1.960128] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2 02:37:16 :[ 1.990101] ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300) 02:37:16 :[ 1.994215] ata2.00: configured for UDMA/133 02:37:16 :[ 1.994220] ata2: EH complete 02:37:16 :[ 2.030097] ata1: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300) 02:37:16 :[ 2.090773] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/133 02:37:16 :[ 2.090778] ata1: EH complete 02:37:16 :[ 2.090931] scsi 0:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA OCZ-VERTEX2 1.23 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 02:37:16 :[ 2.091045] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 02:37:16 :[ 2.091121] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 195371568 512-byte logical blocks: (100 GB/93.1 GiB) 02:37:16 :[ 2.091159] scsi 1:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA ST9500420ASG 0002 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 02:37:16 :[ 2.091163] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off 02:37:16 :[ 2.091183] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA 02:37:16 :[ 2.091252] sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 02:37:16 :[ 2.091337] sda: 02:37:16 :[ 2.091446] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] 976773168 512-byte logical blocks: (500 GB/465 GiB) 02:37:16 :[ 2.091580] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off 02:37:16 :[ 2.091637] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA 02:37:16 :[ 2.091756] sdb: sda1 sda2 02:37:16 :[ 2.093140] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI disk 02:37:16 :[ 2.093505] sdb1 sdb2 sdb3 02:37:16 :[ 2.093773] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk 02:37:16 :[ 2.693899] EXT4-fs (dm-0): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.   • The DOS DEBUG Environment

    - by MarkPearl
    Today I thought I would go back in time and have a look at the DEBUG command that has been available since the beginning of dawn in DOS, MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows. up to today I always knew it was there, but had no clue on how to use it so for those that are interested this might be a great geek party trick to pull out when you want the awe the younger generation and want to show them what “real” programming is about. But wait, you will have to do it relatively quickly as it seems like DEBUG was finally dumped from the Windows group in Windows 7. Not to worry, pull out that Windows XP box which will get you even more geek points and you can still poke DEBUG a bit. So, for those that are interested and want to find out a bit about the history of DEBUG read the wiki link here. That all put aside, lets get our hands dirty.. How to Start DEBUG in Windows Make sure your version of Windows supports DEBUG. Open up a console window Make a directory where you want to play with debug – in my instance I called it C221 Enter the directory and type Debug You will get a response with a – as illustrated in the image below…   The commands available in DEBUG There are several commands available in DEBUG. The most common ones are A (Assemble) R (Register) T (Trace) G (Go) D (Dump or Display) U (Unassemble) E (Enter) P (Proceed) N (Name) L (Load) W (Write) H (Hexadecimal) I (Input) O (Output) Q (Quit) I am not going to cover all these commands, but what I will do is go through a few of them briefly. A is for Assemble Command (to write code) The A command translates assembly language statements into machine code. It is quite useful for writing small assembly programs. Below I have written a very basic assembly program. The code typed out is as follows mov ax,0015 mov cx,0023 sub cx,ax mov [120],al mov cl,[120]A nop R is for Register (to jump to a point in memory) The r command turns out to be one of the most frequent commands you will use in DEBUG. It allows you to view the contents of registers and to change their values. It can be used with the following combinations… R – Displays the contents of all the registers R f – Displays the flags register R register_name – Displays the contents of a specific register All three methods are illustrated in the image above T is for Trace (To execute a program step by step) The t command allows us to execute the program step by step. Before we can trace the program we need to point back to the beginning of the program. We do this by typing in r ip, which moves us back to memory point 100. We then type trace which executes the first line of code (line 100) (As shown in the image below starting from the red arrow). You can see from the above image that the register AX now contains 0015 as per our instruction mov ax,0015 You can also see that the IP points to line 0103 which has the MOV CX,0023 command If we type t again it will now execute the second line of the program which moves 23 in the cx register. Again, we can see that the line of code was executed and that the CX register now holds the value of 23. What I would like to highlight now is the section underlined in red. These are the status flags. The ones we are going to look at now are 1st (NV), 4th (PL), 5th (NZ) & 8th (NC) NV means no overflow, the alternate would be OV PL means that the sign of the previous arithmetic operation was Plus, the alternate would be NG (Negative) NZ means that the results of the previous arithmetic operation operation was Not Zero, the alternate would be ZR NC means that No final Carry resulted from the previous arithmetic operation. CY means that there was a final Carry. We could now follow this process of entering the t command until the entire program is executed line by line. G is for Go (To execute a program up to a certain line number) So we have looked at executing a program line by line, which is fine if your program is minuscule BUT totally unpractical if we have any decent sized program. A quicker way to run some lines of code is to use the G command. The ‘g’ command executes a program up to a certain specified point. It can be used in connection with the the reset IP command. You would set your initial point and then run the G command with the line you want to end on. P is for Proceed (Similar to trace but slightly more streamlined) Another command similar to trace is the proceed command. All that the p command does is if it is called and it encounters a CALL, INT or LOOP command it terminates the program execution. In the example below I modified our example program to include an int 20 at the end of it as illustrated in the image below… Then when executing the code when I encountered the int 20 command I typed the P command and the program terminated normally (illustrated below). D is for Dump (or for those more polite Display) So, we have all these assembly lines of code, but if you have ever opened up an exe or com file in a text/hex editor, it looks nothing like assembly code. The D command is a way that we can see what our code looks like in memory (or in a hex editor). If we examined the image above, we can see that Debug is storing our assembly code with each instruction following immediately after the previous one. For instance in memory address 110 we have int and 111 we have 20. If we examine the dump of memory we can see at memory point 110 CD is stored and at memory point 111 20 is stored. U is for Unassemble (or Convert Machine code to Assembly Code) So up to now we have gone through a bunch of commands, but probably one of the most useful is the U command. Let’s say we don’t understand machine code so well and so instead we want to see it in its equivalent assembly code. We can type the U command followed by the start memory point, followed by the end memory point and it will show us the assembly code equivalent of the machine code. E is for a bunch of things… The E command can be used for a bunch of things… One example is to enter data or machine code instructions directly into memory. It can also be used to display the contents of memory locations. I am not going to worry to much about it in this post. N / L / W is for Name, Load & Write So we have written out assembly code in debug, and now we want to save it to disk, or write it as a com file or load it. This is where the N, L & W command come in handy. The n command is used to give a name to the executable program file and is pretty simple to use. The w command is a bit trickier. It saves to disk all the memory between point bx and point cx so you need to specify the bx memory address and the cx memory address for it to write your code. Let’s look at an example illustrated below. You do this by calling the r command followed by the either bx or cx. We can then go to the directory where we were working and will see the new file with the name we specified. The L command is relatively simple. You would first specify the name of the file you would like to load using the N command, and then call the L command. Q is for Quit The last command that I am going to write about in this post is the Q command. Simply put, calling the Q command exits DEBUG. Commands we did not Cover Out of the standard DEBUG commands we covered A, T, G, D, U, E, P, R, N, L & W. The ones we did not cover were H, I & O – I might make mention of these in a later post, but for the basics they are not really needed. Some Useful Resources Please note this post is based on the COS2213 handouts for UNISA A Guide to DEBUG - http://mirror.href.com/thestarman/asm/debug/debug.htm#NT

  • An XEvent a Day (21 of 31) – The Future – Tracking Blocking in Denali

    - by Jonathan Kehayias
    One of my favorite features that was added to SQL Server 2005 has been the Blocked Process Report trace event which collects an XML report whenever a process is blocked inside of the database engine longer than the user configurable threshold.  I wrote an article about this feature on SQL Server Central  two years ago titled Using the Blocked Process Report in SQL Server 2005/2008 .  One of the aspects of this feature is that it requires that you either have a SQL Trace running that...(read more)

  • Issues with LVM partition size in Server 13.04

    - by Michael
    I am new to ubuntu and a little confused about how hard drive partitions and LVM works. I remember setting up Ubuntu server 13.04 and telling to to use 1TB of a 3TB server. Well I have maxed that out with blu-ray rips and want the rest of the drive for space. On log-in it says: System load: 2.24 Processes: 179 Usage of /: 88.7% of 912.89GB Users logged in: 0 Memory usage: 6% IP address for p5p1: 192.168.0.100 Swap usage: 0% => / is using 88.7% of 912.89GB lvdisplay outputs: --- Logical volume --- LV Path /dev/DeathStar-vg/root LV Name root VG Name DeathStar-vg LV Write Access read/write LV Creation host, time DeathStar, 2013-05-18 22:21:11 -0400 LV Status available # open 1 LV Size 2.70 TiB Current LE 707789 Segments 2 Allocation inherit Read ahead sectors auto - currently set to 256 Block device 252:0 --- Logical volume --- LV Path /dev/DeathStar-vg/swap_1 LV Name swap_1 VG Name DeathStar-vg LV Write Access read/write LV Creation host, time DeathStar, 2013-05-18 22:21:11 -0400 LV Status available # open 2 LV Size 3.75 GiB Current LE 959 Segments 1 Allocation inherit Read ahead sectors auto - currently set to 256 Block device 252:1 vgdisplay outputs: VG Name DeathStar-vg System ID Format lvm2 Metadata Areas 1 Metadata Sequence No 4 VG Access read/write VG Status resizable MAX LV 0 Cur LV 2 Open LV 2 Max PV 0 Cur PV 1 Act PV 1 VG Size 2.73 TiB PE Size 4.00 MiB Total PE 715335 Alloc PE / Size 708748 / 2.70 TiB Free PE / Size 6587 / 25.73 GiB df outputs: Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/DeathStar--vg-root 957238932 848972636 59634696 94% / none 4 0 4 0% /sys/fs/cgroup udev 1864716 4 1864712 1% /dev tmpfs 374968 1060 373908 1% /run none 5120 4 5116 1% /run/lock none 1874824 148 1874676 1% /run/shm none 102400 24 102376 1% /run/user /dev/sda2 234153 56477 165184 26% /boot And fdisk /dev/sda -l outputs: Disk /dev/sda: 3000.6 GB, 3000592982016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 364801 cylinders, total 5860533168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 4294967295 2147483647+ ee GPT Partition 1 does not start on physical sector boundary. All questions in this site ask how to "hide"! I want to fix my boot (fix mrb wont work, I have GPT Disk) by changing some files at Windows System Reserved. GParted shows the following partitions (but Nautilus doesn't): **/dev/sda1 - file system: Unknown - 128Mb - flags: msftres** (this one shows *"Warning: Unable to detect file system! • saslauthd + PostFix producing password verification and authentication errors

    - by Aram Papazian
    So I'm trying to setup PostFix while using SASL (Cyrus variety preferred, I was using dovecot earlier but I'm switching from dovecot to courier so I want to use cyrus instead of dovecot) but I seem to be having issues. Here are the errors I'm receiving: ==> mail.log <== Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: ipname[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure ==> mail.info <== Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: ipname[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure ==> mail.warn <== Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: SASL authentication failure: Password verification failed Aug 10 05:11:49 crazyinsanoman postfix/smtpd[779]: warning: ipname[xx.xx.xx.xx]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: authentication failure I tried $testsaslauthd -u xxxx -p xxxx 0: OK "Success." The password in 'users' is set through the 'ENCRYPT()' function. I also followed the methods found in http://www.jimmy.co.at/weblog/?p=52 in order to redo /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd as that seems to be a lot of people's problems, but that didn't help at all. Also, here is my /etc/default/saslauthd START=yes DESC="SASL Authentication Daemon" NAME="saslauthd" # Which authentication mechanisms should saslauthd use? (default: pam) # # Available options in this Debian package: # getpwent -- use the getpwent() library function # kerberos5 -- use Kerberos 5 # pam -- use PAM # rimap -- use a remote IMAP server # shadow -- use the local shadow password file # sasldb -- use the local sasldb database file # ldap -- use LDAP (configuration is in /etc/saslauthd.conf) # # Only one option may be used at a time. See the saslauthd man page # for more information. # # Example: MECHANISMS="pam" MECHANISMS="pam" MECH_OPTIONS="" THREADS=5 OPTIONS="-c -m /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd -r" I had heard that potentially changing MECHANISM to MECHANISMS="mysql" but obviously that didn't help as is shown by the options listed above and also by trying it out anyway in case the documentation was outdated. So, I'm now at a loss... I have no idea where to go from here or what steps I need to do to get this working =/ Anyone have any ideas? EDIT: Here is the error that is coming from auth.log ... • Mac OS X 10.6 assign mapped IP to Windows 7 VM in Parallels

    - by Alex
    I'm trying to assign a mapped IP address to a Windows 7 VM. I have setup running in Parallels 5 in wireless bridged networking mode. The problem I am having is that it looks like the VM is actually broadcasting the MAC address of the host machine and thus causing a clash of IP addresses on the network. This is my current setup: Macbook Pro :~ ifconfig -a lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:26:b0:df:31:b4 media: autoselect status: inactive supported media: none autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,flow-control> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex,flow-control> 100baseTX <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 1000baseT <full-duplex> 1000baseT <full-duplex,flow-control> 1000baseT <full-duplex,hw-loopback> fw0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 4078 lladdr 00:26:b0:ff:fe:df:31:b4 media: autoselect <full-duplex> status: inactive supported media: autoselect <full-duplex> en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::226:bbff:fe0a:59a1%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x6 inet 192.168.1.97 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:26:bb:0a:59:a1 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect vnic0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.1.81 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:1c:42:00:00:08 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect vnic1: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 10.37.129.2 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.37.129.255 ether 00:1c:42:00:00:09 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect Windows 7: :~ ipconfig -all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Alex-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Parallels Ethernet Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1C-42-B8-E7-B4 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Tunnel adapter isatap.{ACAC7EBB-5E5F-4F53-AFD9-E6EAEEA0FEE2}: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #3 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Billion Bipac 7200 modem router: In DHCP server settings have the following two mapping entries. alex-macbook-win7 00:1c:42:00:00:08 192.168.1.98 alex-macbook 00:26:bb:0a:59:a1 192.168.1.97 The problem I have is that when the VM starts up it gets assigned the 192.168.1.97 address instead of the .98 address and thus networking on the host stops working as it says there is a clash. I have tried removing the mapping for "alex-macbook" which results in the guest machine being assigned a normal DHCP address and NOT the one that is in the mapping of the router.

  • Unable to receive any emails using postfix, dovecot, mysql, and virtual domain/mailboxes

    - by stkdev248
    I have been working on configuring my mail server for the last couple of weeks using postfix, dovecot, and mysql. I have one virtual domain and a few virtual mailboxes. Using squirrelmail I have been able to log into my accounts and send emails out (e.g. I can send to googlemail just fine), however I am not able to receive any emails--not from the outside world nor from within my own network. I am able to telnet in using localhost, my private ip, and my public ip on port 25 without any problems (I've tried it from the server itself and from another computer on my network). This is what I get in my logs when I send an email from my googlemail account to my mail server: mail.log Apr 14 07:36:06 server1 postfix/qmgr[1721]: BE01B520538: from=, size=733, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Apr 14 07:36:06 server1 postfix/pipe[3371]: 78BC0520510: to=, relay=dovecot, delay=45421, delays=45421/0/0/0.13, dsn=4.3.0, status=deferred (temporary failure. • How to set up IP forwarding on Nexenta (Solaris)?

    - by Gleb
    I am trying to set up IP forwarding on my Nexenta box: root@hdd:~# uname -a SunOS hdd 5.11 NexentaOS_134f i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris The box has 2 network interfaces: root@hdd:~# ifconfig -a lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000 e1000g1: flags=1001100843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,ROUTER,IPv4,FIXEDMTU> mtu 1500 index 2 inet 192.168.12.2 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.12.255 ether 68:5:ca:9:51:b8 myri10ge0: flags=1100843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,ROUTER,IPv4> mtu 9000 index 3 inet 10.10.10.10 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 10.10.10.255 ether 0:60:dd:47:87:2 lo0: flags=2002000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv6,VIRTUAL> mtu 8252 index 1 inet6 ::1/128 192.168.12.0 is my normal LAN with 192.168.12.1 being the firewall/gateway 10.10.10.0 is a separate LAN for iSCSI (with no internet access) I want to set up IP forwarding so that a computer on 10.10.10.0 will be able to access the internet by using 10.10.10.10 as a gateway (I don't need any port forwarding) I have turned on IP forwarding: root@hdd:~# routeadm Configuration Current Current Option Configuration System State --------------------------------------------------------------- IPv4 routing disabled disabled IPv6 routing disabled disabled IPv4 forwarding enabled enabled IPv6 forwarding disabled disabled Routing services "route:default ripng:default" Routing daemons: STATE FMRI disabled svc:/network/routing/rdisc:default disabled svc:/network/routing/route:default disabled svc:/network/routing/legacy-routing:ipv4 disabled svc:/network/routing/legacy-routing:ipv6 disabled svc:/network/routing/ripng:default online svc:/network/routing/ndp:default But when I dry to start ipnat, I get an error: root@hdd:~# ipnat -CF -f /etc/ipf/ipnat.conf ioctl(SIOCGNATS): I/O error Here is the config: root@hdd:~# cat /etc/ipf/ipnat.conf #!/sbin/ipnat -f - # map e1000g1 10.10.10.10/24 -> 192.168.12.2/32 So the question is how to fix this.. Thanks in advance!
