  Hi, I have an array list of objects in my application. private static ArrayList<Player> userList=new ArrayList<Player>(); In my application, I am converting this list to byte array and then sending it to other clients. At client When I am trying to cast it back to the ArrayList, its giving me casting error. I am doing this in client side after receiving this list as byte array: ArrayList<Player> pl = (ArrayList<Player>) toObject(receivedByteArray); where toObject is my function to convert the byte array to object; Any Suggestions please !!!   I am new to this flavor of StackExchange, so if this belongs elsewhere, please move it; I figured this would be the best place, though. I am making an Excel Worksheet that simply stores basic financial data in 5 columns (Check Number, Date of Transaction, Description, Profit from Transaction, and Balance After Transaction) and indefinite rows. Each worksheet represents one month, and each Workbook represents a year. As I make or receive a payment, I store it as a new row, which, inherently, makes the number of rows per month indefinite. Each transaction's Balance cell is the sum of the Balance cell of the row above it and the Profit cell of its row. I want each month to start off with a special row (first one after column headers) that displays a summary of the last month's transactions. For instance, the Balance After Transaction cell would display the last row's balance, and the Profit from Transaction cell would display the overall profits of the month) I know that if I knew every month had exactly 100 expenses, I could achieve this for March with the following formulas for profit and balance, respectively: =February!E2 - February!E102 =February!E102 However, I do NOT know how many rows will be in each month's table, and I'd like to automate this as much as possible (for instance, if I find a missed or duplicated expense in January, I don't want to have to update all the formulas that point to the ending January balance). How can I have Excel automatically use the last entered value in a column, in any given Excel spreadsheet, in a formula?

  I just started learning CakePHP 2.0 a few days ago, and there's one thing that is leaving me stumped: say I have an User model and a Posts model: class User extends AppModel { public $name = "User"; public $hasMany=array( 'Post' => array( 'className' => 'Post', 'foreignKey' => 'author_id' ) ); } class Post extends AppModel { public $name = 'Post'; public $belongsTo = array( 'className' = 'User', 'foreignKey' = 'author_id', ); } (Where "author_id" is the foreign key in the posts table that references the Users table's primary key). And now, in the PostsController, I want to access the properties of the user that owns the current post (to show his display name, for example). What would be the proper syntax? I tried: $this->Post->User->find('first', array('conditions' => array('User.id' => "$usuario"))) But it didn't work (I guess it's because the User is the parent of the Post object, not its child). Or should CakePHP load everything automatically, once you've declared the $hasMany and $belongsTo relationships?

  Hi everybody, How do you handle replacing/adding/removing memcached nodes in your production applications? I will have a number of applications that are cloned and customized due to each customers need running on one and same webserver, so i'll guess that there will be a day when some of the nodes will be changed. Here's how memcached is populated by normal: $m = new Memcached(); $servers = array( array('mem1.domain.com', 11211, 33), array('mem2.domain.com', 11211, 67) ); $m->addServers($servers); My initial idea, is to make the $servers array to be populated from the database, also cached, but file-based, done once a day or something, with the option to force an update on next run of the function that holds the $addservers call. However, I am guessing that this might add some additional overhead since disks are quite slow storage... What do you think?

• Zend_Dojo_Form not rendering in layout

  Hi, I have a quick question about adding Zend_Dojo_Form into Zend_layouts. I have a Zend_Dojo_Form that I want to display in the layout that is used for a particular controller. I can add the form to the layout without any issue however the dojo elements fail to render, as they would do if I added the form to a standard view. Is there any reason why this would be the case? Do I need to do something to the layout so that it will enable the components for this embedded form in the layout. Any other dojo enabled forms that are added in the view using this layout work fine. Any leading whitespace at the beginning of the array should be removed completely. The resulting number of characters should be returned as the value of the function. And the annoying part: Another array cannot appear in the function Cannot use strings, only char arrays. Cannot using G++'s extension for setting an array size using a variable. Oh and can't use regex :) I'm stuck with this, any help would be great. :)

  Hello guys, I've been trying to figure this out these days. I got a problem when I want to add 'page' parameter in my URL for my pagination. This is my router -addRoute('budi',new Zend_Controller_Router_Route(':lang/budi',array('controller' = 'budi', 'action' = 'index', 'page' = 1), array('lang'=$s, 'page' = '\d+'))) -addRoute('budi1',new Zend_Controller_Router_Route(':lang/budi/page/:page',array('controller' = 'budi', 'action' = 'index', 'page' = 1), array('lang'=$s, 'page' = '\d+'))) Then I access my URL http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi but when I hover on my pagination links, the page parameter doesn't appear. The URL is still http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi but if I enter same URL with index in the end like this one http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi/index or like this one http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi/page/1 the page parameter appears perfectly when I click the page 2 link http://localhost/learningsystem/en/budi/index/page/2 Actually, I don't want include 'index' or 'page' at first in my URL. Anyway, I use default pagination.phtml template from Zend. Anyone please help me to solve this problem? Thank you very much

• Should I convert data arrays to objects in PHP in a CouchDB/Ajax app?

  I find myself converting between array and object all the time in PHP application that uses couchDB and Ajax. Of course I am also converting objects to JSON and back (for sometimes couchdb but mostly Ajax), but this is not so much disturbing my workflow. At the present I have php objects that are returned by the CouchDB modules I use and on the other hand I have the old habbit to return arrays like array("error"="not found","data"=$dataObj) from my functions. This leads to a mixed occurence of real php objects and nested arrays and I cast with (object) or (array) if necessary. The worst thing is that I know more or less by heart what a function returns, but not what type (array or object), so I often run into type errors. My plan is now to always cast arrays to objects before returning from a function. Of course this implies a lot of refactoring. Is this the right way to go? What about the conversion overhead? Other ideas or tips?

  I am working on a program where each item can hold an array of items (i'm making a menu, which has a tree-like structure) currently i have the items as a list, instead of an array, but I don't feel like I'm using it to its full potential to simplify code. I chose a list over a standard array because the interface (.add, .remove, etc...) makes a lot of sense. • cin.getline() equivalent when getting a char from a function.

  From what I understand cin.getLine gets the first char(which I think it a pointer) and then gets that the length. I have used it when cin for a char. I have a function that is returning a pointer to the first char in an array. Is there an equivalent to get the rest of the array into a char that I can use the entire array. I explained below what I am trying to do.
