• Rails3 server and bundler error: uninitialized constant Bundler (NameError)

  I just install rails 3 and all gems that it need, but when I try to start server, it says about problem in boot script. • How to setup Mercurial central repository on shared hosting

  Hey Everyone, I am trying to setup a central repository with shared hosting. I read all the way through this tutorial http://mercurial.selenic.com/wiki/PublishingRepositories to no avail. Here are the steps I took. 1. Copy hgwebdir.cgi file to directory at http://url.com/central_repository/hgwebdir.cgi 2. Added the following information to the hgweb.config file and copied it to same place. [paths] projectname = /home/username/central_repository/projectname [web] baseurl = /hg 3. Added the following to an htaccess file and copied it to the same place # Taken from http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Cookbook/CleanUrls#samedir # Used at http://ggap.sf.net/hg/ Options +ExecCGI RewriteEngine On #write base depending on where the base url lives RewriteBase /hg RewriteRule ^$ hgwebdir.cgi [L] # Send requests for files that exist to those files. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f # Send requests for directories that exist to those directories. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d # Send requests to hgwebdir.cgi, appending the rest of url. Tried to clone the repository to my computer using the folloing destination path: http://url.com/hg/projectname After going through these steps I get a 404: Not Found error. However if I change the destination path to http://url.com/central_repository/projectname It acts like it found the repository, It tells me it found the changesets, and it was adding the changesets and manifests, but then it says "transaction abort! • AWS Amazon EC2 - password-less SSH login for non-root users using PEM keypairs

  We've got a couple of clusters running on AWS (HAProxy/Solr, PGPool/PostgreSQL) and we've setup scripts to allow new slave instances to be auto-included into the clusters by updating their IPs to config files held on S3, then SSHing to the master instance to kick them to download the revised config and restart the service. It's all working nicely, but in testing we're using our master pem for SSH which means it needs to be stored on an instance. Not good. I want a non-root user that can use an AWS keypair who will have sudo access to run the download-config-and-restart scripts, but nothing else. rbash seems to be the way to go, but I understand this can be insecure unless setup correctly. So what security holes are there in this approach: New AWS keypair created for user.pem (not really called 'user') New user on instances: user Public key for user is in ~user/.ssh/authorized_keys (taken by creating new instance with user.pem, and copying it from /root/.ssh/authorized_keys) Private key for user is in ~user/.ssh/user.pem 'user' has login shell of /home/user/bin/rbash ~user/bin/ contains symbolic links to /bin/rbash and /usr/bin/sudo /etc/sudoers has entry "user ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: ~user/.bashrc sets PATH to /home/user/bin/ only ~user/.inputrc has 'set disable-completion on' to prevent double tabbing from 'sudo /' to find paths. ~user/ -R is owned by root with read-only access to user, except for ~user/.ssh which has write access for user (for writing known_hosts), and ~user/bin/* which are +x Inter-instance communication uses 'ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -i ~user/.ssh/user.pem user@ sudo ' Any thoughts would be welcome. • ASP.NET MVC 3: RouteExistingFiles = true seems to have no effect

  I'm trying to understand how RouteExistingFiles works. So I've created a new MVC 3 internet project (MVC 4 behaves the same way) and put a HTMLPage.html file to the Content folder of my project. Now I went to the Global.Asax file and edited the RegisterRoutes function so it looks like this: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.RouteExistingFiles = true; //Look for routes before looking if a static file exists routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new {controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional} // Parameter defaults ); } Now it should give me an error when I'm requesting a localhost:XXXX/Content/HTMLPage.html since there's no "Content" controller and the request definitely hits the default pattern. But instead I'm seeing my HTMLPage. What am I doing wrong here? Update: I think I'll have to give up. Even if I'm adding a route like this one: routes.MapRoute("", "Content/{*anything}", new {controller = "Home", action = "Index"}); it still shows me the content of the HTMLPage. When I request a url like ~/Content/HTMLPage I'm getting the Index page as expected, but when I add a file extenstion like .html or .txt the content is shown (or a 404 error if the file does not exist). If anyone can check this in VS2012 please let me know what result you're getting. Thank you.

  I'm having problems reading .xls files written by a Perl script which I have no control over.   I'm working on a S#arpArchitecture 1.5 project, which uses ASP.NET MVC 2. I've been trying to get areas to work properly but I ran into a problem: The ASP.NET MVC 2 routing engine matches the correct route to my area but then it generates an URL that belongs to the first registered area instead. Here's my request URL: /Framework/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2fDefault.aspx I'm using the Route Tester from Phil Haack and it shows: Matched Route: Framework/{controller}/{action}/{id} Generated URL: /Data/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2FDefault.aspx using the route "Data/{controller}/{action}/{id}" That's clearly wrong, the URL should point to the Framework area, not the Data area. • MVC controller is being called twice

  Hello, I have a controller that is being called twice from an ActionLink call. My home page has a link, that when clicked calls the Index method on the Play controller. An id of 100 is passed into the method. I think this is what is causing the issue. More on this below. • How to require fullscreen mode in a jQTouch application?

  I'm using jQTouch to develop a version of a website optimized for safari on the iphone. The jQTouch demo helpfully shows how to show an "install this" message for users not using full screen mode and hide it for those who are. When in fullscreen mode, the body should have the class "fullscreen." So you can hide the "install this" message for people who have already added your app to their home page by adding this css rule to your stylesheet: body.fullscreen #home .info { display: none; } What I'd like to do is require users to use the app in fullscreen mode only. When viewed from the regular browser, they should only see a message asking them to install the app. That message should of course be hidden otherwise. This ought to be really, really easy, so I must just be missing something obvious. I thought one way to do this would be to simply test for the class "fullscreen" on the body: if it's not there, use goTo to get to another div, or hide the other divs, or something like that. Strangely, however, this doesn't work. As a test, I've still got the original "info" message, as in the jQTouch demo, and it doesn't show up when I launch in fullscreen mode. So the body must have the fullscreen class. And yet I can't find any other trace of it: when I put this alert to test things after the document has loaded, I get nothing when launching in fullscreen mode: alert($("body").attr("class")); I also thought I might test for fullscreen mode by checking for the value of the fullScreen boolean. But this doesn't seem to work either. What am I missing? What is the best way to do this?

• Connecting git to github on windows 7 without bash

  I'm setting up git on my new Windows 7 machine and I'm hitting a roadblock when it comes to getting github to acknowledge my ssh key. I am doing things a little different from the standard script in that I would rather not use cygwin and prefer to use my powershell prompt. The following is what I did: I installed msysgit (portable). I went to C:\program files\git\bin and used ssh-keygen to generate a public/private ssh keypair which I put in c:\Temp I then created a directory named .ssh\ in c:\Users\myusername\ (on windows 7) I moved both the files generated by the ssh-keygen (id_rsa and id_rsa.pub) into the .ssh directory I went to my account on github, created a new public key, copy-pasted the contents of id_rsa.pub into it and saved I now go to my powershell prompt, set-alias git 'C:\program files\git\bin\git.exe' I try to now do a clone [email protected]:togakangaroo/ps-profile.git which rejects my authentication: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly Past experience says that this means git is not recognizing my key. What steps am I missing? I have a feeling that I need to somehow configure git so that it knows where my ssh keys are (though it would seem it should look there automatically) but I don't know how to do that. Another possible clue is that when I try to run git config --global user.name "George Mauer" I get an error fatal: $HOME not set I did however set up a HOME environment user variable with the value %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

  I am very confused the View and corresponding controller has to be set in MVC 1.0 project structure. Currently in a default application we have About.aspx page under Home folder and all the controller action is handled in HomeController. This controller mixes up Home action and About action. It makes things messy. I like to have clear separation of my controller. Like to have one About Controller and HomeCotroller separately. For it I have create another folder "About" under view folder and place Aboput.aspx in it , otherwise we will get the error below. How can I achieve it ?? I like to have exact folder structure as in View, same as in Cotroller. The view 'About' or its master could not be found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/About/About.aspx ~/Views/About/About.ascx ~/Views/Shared/About.aspx ~/Views/Shared/About.ascx Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. • How to publish an ASP.NET MVC website

  Hello -- I've a site that I'd like to publish to a co-located live server. I'm finding this simple task quite hard. My problems begin with the Web Deploy tool (1.1) giving me a 401 Unauthorized as the adminstrator because port :8172 comes up in the errors and this port is blocked - but the documentation says "The default ListenURL is http://+:80/MsDeployAgentService"! I'm loathe to open another port and I've little patience these days so I thought bu66er it, I'll create a Web Deploy package and import it into IIS on the server over RDP. I notice first that Visual Studio doesn't use a dialog box to gather settings, or use my Publish profiles but seems to use a tab in the project properties, although I think these are ignored when importing the package anyway? I'm now sitting in the import wizard with Application Path and Connection String. I've cleared the conn string as I think this is for some ASP stuff I don't use but when I enter nothing in the Application Path, the wizard barks at me saying that basically I'm a weirdo because most people publish to folders beneath the root site. Now, I want my site to be site.com/Home/About and not site.com/subfolder/Home/About and I think being an MVC routed site that a subfolder will introduce other headaches. Should I go ahead and use the root? Finally, I also want to publish a web service to www.site.com/services/soap which I think IIS can handle. While typing this question, Amazon have delivered my IIS 7 Resource Kit, and I've been scouring the internet but actually I'm getting more confused.   Hello, I have a website which has many pages: For example: HOME: http://mywebsite.com/index.html SOME PAGE: http://mywebsite.com/categorie/somepage.html I decided to make my pages load dynamically with AJAX without reloading the page. So I decided to use jQuery Address plugin ( http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/docs/ ) in order to allow deeplinking and Back-Forward navigation: <script type="text/javascript" src="uploads/scripts/jquery.address-1.2rc.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $('a').address(function() { return $(this).attr('href').replace(/^#/, ''); }); </script> Now, after installing the plugin, if I go on http://mywebsite.com/index.html (HOME) and click on SOME PAGE link, jquery successfully loads the http://mywebsite.com/categorie/somepage.html without reloading the page and the address bar on my browser displays: http://mywebsite.com/index.html/#/categorie/somepage.html which is great! However, the problem is: if I copy this dynamically generated URL: http://mywebsite.com/index.html/#/categorie/somepage.html into a web browser address bar, it will take into my website index.html page and not to the "SOME PAGE" page. Also, The Forward/Back buttons don't work correctly, they only replace the address in the URL bar but the content stays the same. I suppose that I need to write some JavaScript rule that associates the dynamic URL with the correct page? Some help would be appreciated. Thanks :)
