Oracle VM Templates for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne accelerate the process of setting up a working environment compared to the traditional installation process. The templates can be a key component to a well-managed cloud infrastructure, allowing system administrators to quickly provision fully functional JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environments for evaluation, development, or production use. • Cocos2d: Changing b2Body x val every frame causes jitter

  So, I have a jumping mechanism similar to what you would see in doodle jump where character jumps and you use the accelerometer to make character change direction left or right. I have a player object with position and a box2d b2Body with position. I'm changing the player X position via the accelerometer and the Y position according to box2d. pseudocode for this is like so -----accelerometer acceleration------ player.position = new X -----world update--------- physicsWorld-step() //this will get me the new Y according to the physics similation //so we keep the bodys Y value but change x to new X according to accelerometer data playerPhysicsBody.position = new pos(player.position.x, keepYval) player.position = playerPhysicsBody.position Now this is simplifying my code, but I'm doing the position conversion back and forth via mult or divide by PTM_. Well, I'm getting a weird jitter effect after I get big jump in acceleration data. So, my questions are: 1) Is this the right approach to have the accelerometer control the x pos and box2d control the y pos and just sync everthing up every frame? 2) Is there some issue with updating a b2body x position every frame? 3) Any idea what might be creating this jitter effect? I've collecting some data while running the game. Pre-body is before I set the x value on the b2Body in my update method after I world-step(). Post of course is afterwards. • Configure Jenkins and Tomcat using Puppet on Vagrant

  I'm playing with setting up my first Spring + jenkins + Tomcat CI dev environment. For now it's just a test/fun phase, but in the near future I'll be starting new project with my coworkers. That's the reason that I want development environment virtualized and exactly te same on every development machine, as well as on production server. I choosen to use Vagrant and to try to write puppet scripts that not only install everything, but also configure everything so each of us will have the same jenkins plugins, same jenkins and tomcat login and password, and literally after calling vagrant up we are ready to work. What I managed to do so far is installation of stuff needed and port forwarding. After wandering around web I've found few tutorials about jenkins configuration (here's one of them). I really want to move configuration presented in this tutorial to puppet file, so when I spread my vagrantfile and puppet file between my coworkers, I will be sure that everyone has exactly te same setup. Unfortunately I'm also green about using puppet, I don't know how to do this. Any help will be apreciated.

  I'm writing a little 2d rendering framework with managers for input and resources like textures and meshes (for 2d geometry models, like quads) and they are all contained in a class "engine" that interacts with them and with a directX class. So each class have some public methods like init or update. They are called by the engine class to render the resources, create them, but a lot of them should not be called by the user: //in pseudo c++ //the textures manager class class TManager { private: vector textures; .... public: init(); update(); renderTexture(); //called by the "engine class" loadtexture(); gettexture(); //called by the user } class Engine { private: Tmanager texManager; public: Init() { //initialize all the managers } Render(){...} Update(){...} Tmanager* GetTManager(){return &texManager;} //to get a pointer to the manager //if i want to create or get textures } In this way the user, calling Engine::GetTmanager will have access to all the public methods of Tmanager, including init update and rendertexture, that must be called only by Engine inside its init, render and update functions. • How to update model in the database, from asp.net MVC2, using Entity Framework?

  Hello. I'm building ASP.NET MVC2 application, and using Entity Framework as ORM. I am having troubles updating object in the database. Every time I try entity.SaveChanges(), EF inserts new line in the table, regardless of do I want update, or insert to be done. I tried attaching (like in this next example) object to entity, but then I got {"An object with a null EntityKey value cannot be attached to an object context."} Here's my simple function for inserts and updates (it's not really about vehicles, but it's simpler to explain like this, although I don't think that this effects answers at all)... public static void InsertOrUpdateCar(this Vehicles entity, Cars car) { if (car.Id == 0 || car.Id == null) { entity.Cars.AddObject(car); } else { entity.Attach(car); } entitet.SaveChanges(); } I even tried using AttachTo("Cars", car), but I got the same exception. • Update an infopath field with return value from webservice submit?

  Is it possible to update an infopath field with the result of a call to submit to a webservice? We have an infopath form used to create items in the database. I would like to add a read only field for the id (primary key) of the item in the infopath form which is filled when the form is submitted to the webservice by the return value. Is there a way to use the return value as part of a rule with a "Set a field's value" action? I could not find a way to do this with rules gui. Is it possible to do this using c# code? Or am I missing something in the GUI?

  Hi, We have a system in which we must use pessimistic locking in one entity. We are using hibernate, so we use LockMode.UPGRADE. However, it does not lock. The tables are InnoDB We have checked that locking works correctly in the database (5.0.32), so this bug http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=18184 seems to be no problem. We have checked that datasource includes the autoCommit = false parameter. We have checked that the SQL hibernate (version 3.2) generates includes the " FOR UPDATE". Thanks,

• SQL Server 2008 Table Maintenance - Rebuild, Reorganize, Update Stats, Check Integrity etc HELP!

  I'm migrating a ~15GB database from SQL Server 2005 to a new server running SQL Server 2008, and along with that I need to create all the new Maintenance Plans. I can take care of all the backup stuff, but the table maintenance baffles me some. Does anyone have any input on how often I should (or how often you do would suffice too) the following tasks? Check Database Integrity Rebuild Indexes Reorganize Indexes Update Statistics Shrink Database? Am I missing anything? Again if you can share how often you do these tasks that would be great...and/or share any general information about your approach to table maintenance that would be helpful. Lastly does it matter what order I run these tasks in (when setting up a job)?

• How to properly update a feature branch from trunk?

  SVN book says: ...Another way of thinking about this pattern is that your weekly sync of trunk to branch is analogous to running svn update in a working copy, while the final merge step is analogous to running svn commit from a working copy I find this approach very unpractical in large developments, for several reasons, mostly related to reintegration step. From SVN v1.5, merging is done rev-by-rev. Cherry-picking the areas to be merged would cause us to resolve the trunk-branch conflicts twice (one when merging trunk revisions to the FB, and once more when merging back). Repository size: trunk changes might be significant for a large code base, and copying the differences files (unlike SVN copy) from trunk elsewhere may be a significant overhead. Instead, we do what we call "re-branching". In this case, when a significant chunk of trunk changes is needed, a new feature branch is opened from current trunk, and the merge is always downward (Feature branches - trunk - stable branches). This does not go along SVN book guidelines and developers see it as extra pain. How do you handle this situation?

  I used 'package.skeleton()' to generate .Rd help files a few months ago. I have edited these files, and I have also changed the functions, removed some functions, added others. Is there a function that automates updating the Rd files? update A nice package was just released called Rd2roxygen, it is described by the author Yihui Xie on his blog. As the name implies, this package allows one to retroactively insert documentation currently contained in .Rd into .R files. Sounds like a promising approach for both learning roxygen and for converting packages currently in development to R packages. Woo hoo. Thanks Yihui!

  If I want to inject a globally scoped array variable into a page's client-side javascript during a full page postback, I can use: this.Page.ClientScript.RegisterArrayDeclaration("WorkCalendar", "\"" + date.ToShortDateString() + "\""); to declare and populate a client-side javascript array on the page. Nice and simple. But I want to do the same from a async postback from an UpdatePanel. The closest I can figure so far is to create a .js file that just contains the var declaration, update the file during the async postback, and then use a ScriptManagerProxy.Scripts.Add to add the .js file to the page's global scope. Is there anything simpler? r iz doin it wrong?

  In SharePoint, when an item is first added to a document library, it fires the ItemAdded and ItemAdding events as expected. And if you upload the same filename to update the existing file, it will fire off ItemUpdated and ItemUpdating events, likewise as expected. However, I have been unsuccessful at determining whether this kind of action has actually occurred or not. Or, more specifically, I am entirely unable to differentiate between the following: An item is updated because someone uploaded a new file but did nothing to any of the form fields. An item is updated because someone hit "OK" but did nothing to any of the form fields. Is there actually a way to distinguish these kinds of updates? There appears to be nothing in event properties that contains this information, nor in the version history for both the list item and the file itself. I have even tried comparing the files themselves via OpenBinary(), but in both mentioned cases I still get the same result. Thank you in advance for any help!

  So I have a uipicker view, that I have managed to load some data from my db into. I would like to update a textview, which is right above the pickerview, with each changing of the row. Is that possible? If I don't have to, I would like to avoid pushing a button in order to show the respective text.
