• New project created with Flex Mojo's archetype throws Cannot Find Parent Project-Maven Exception

  This is probably a silly question but I just cant seem to figure out. I'm completely new to flex and maven. Maven 2.2.1: Maven 2.2.1 unzipped,M2_HOME set and repository altered to point to different drive location in settings.xml Flex 4.0: Installed Created a multi-modular webapp project using flexmojo: mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeRepository=http://repository.sonatype.org/content/groups/flexgroup -DarchetypeGroupId=org.sonatype.flexmojos -DarchetypeArtifactId=flexmojos-archetypes-modular-webapp -DarchetypeVersion=RELEASE with following options groupId=com.test artifactId=test version=1.0-snapshot package=com.tests * Creates * test |-- pom.xml |--swc -pom.xml |--swf -pom.xml `--war -pom.xml Parent pom has swc, swf, war as modules. • AES Cipher not picking up IV

  I am trying to use an IV with AES so that the encrypted text is unpredictable. However, the encrypted hex string is always the same. I have actually tried a few methods of attempting to add some randomness by passing some additional parameters to the cipher init call: 1) Manual IV generation byte[] iv = generateIv(); IvParameterSpec ivspec = new IvParameterSpec(iv); 2) Asking cipher to generate IV AlgorithmParameters params = cipher.getParameters(); params.getParameterSpec(IvParameterSpec.class); 3) Using a PBEParameterSpec byte[] encryptionSalt = generateSalt(); PBEParameterSpec pbeParamSpec = new PBEParameterSpec(encryptionSalt, 1000); All of these seem to have no influence on the encrypted text.... help!!! • CastClassException on Custom View

  When I try to findViewById() on my custom view I keep getting a ClassCastException. I've tried so many things that I'm sure I've botched the code now! To make sure I'm not going insane I stripped down the classes to their bare minimum inorder to find what was wrong. I'm new to android programming and I'm sure I'm missing something basic.   I have a little popup menu that anchors on a button in the action bar. This works well on 3.0/3.1 Xoom and Galaxy tabs, and a 4.1 Nexus 7. However, on a 7" Fire HD (this one), I get an error about a leaked intent receiver when exiting the application. The error occurs only if the menu was not opened during that run. There is no mention of OrientationChangeListener in the one copy of the source I've found; I suspect Amazon has a different implementation. Questions: Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a workaround or a fix? (Where) can I find Amazon's source code? Finally, (shudder) how important is it that I don't leak a receiver on application exit? • Serializing WPF DataTemplates and {Binding Expressions} (from PowerShell?)

  Ok, here's the deal: I have code that works in C#, but when I call it from PowerShell, it fails. I can't quite figure it out, but it's something specific to PowerShell. Here's the relevant code calling the library (assuming you've added a reference ahead of time) from C#: public class Test { [STAThread] public static void Main() { Console.WriteLine( PoshWpf.XamlHelper.RoundTripXaml( "<TextBlock Text=\"{Binding FullName}\" xmlns=\"http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation\"/>" ) ); } } Compiled into an executable, that works fine ... but if you call that method from PowerShell, it returns with no {Binding FullName} for the Text! add-type -path .\PoshWpf.dll [PoshWpf.Test]::Main() I've pasted below the entire code for the library, all wrapped up in a PowerShell Add-Type call so you can just compile it by pasting it into PowerShell (you can leave off the first and last lines if you want to paste it into a new console app in Visual Studio. To output (from PowerShell 2) as an executable, just change the -OutputType parameter to ConsoleApplication and the -OutputAssembly to PoshWpf.exe (or something). Thus, you can see that running the SAME CODE from the executable gives you the correct output. But running the two lines as above or manually calling [PoshWpf.XamlHelper]::RoundTripXaml or [PoshWpf.XamlHelper]::ConvertToXaml from PowerShell just doesn't seem to work at all ... HELP?! Then for each line I create Element[] array called line. I split the given text and here's the first problem. Why string.split() adds a whitespace ? You can see clearly in output that it is added for no reason. How can I get rid of it (now I had to add +1 to the length of line just to run the code). Continuing I'm throwing the splitted text into temporary String array and next from each letter I create Element object and throw it to line array. Apart of this empty space output looks fine. But next problem is with Grid. I've created constructor taking Element as an argument, but still I can't throw line as Grid[] elements because of 'incompatible types'. How can I fix that ? Am I even doing it right ? Maybe I should get rid of line as Element[] and just create Grid[][] ?

• Trouble with datasource not being called from viewWillAppear

  A little background. I have taken GCCalendar which only works in portrait orientation and extended it to work in landscape similar to how the iPhone's Calendar app works. I did this by duplicating the main view class and modifying it to work in landscape. So when the phone is in portrait orientation the CGCalendar is instantiated from the apps main view controller using the original portrait view class and when in landscape orientation using the new modified landscape view class. Most of the other classes in GCCalendar are shared without modification. A few had to be duplicated as well. I got it all working great except for an issue with the datasource. The datasource is called when the calendar is first loaded and each time the user changes the dates being viewed. Problem is I can't get the datasource call to work on the first call. I am stumped as it works fine in portrait orientation and I cannot find any difference between the 2 versions. Following is some of the code that shows how it gets to the datasource call the first time. Subsequent calls removes all the calendar subviews and instantiates them again with the new dates. The duplicated landscape class names end in LS. Otherwise as you can see they are identical. Does anyone has any idea of where else I might look to resolve this issue? • How do I launch a WPF app from command.com. I'm getting a FontCache error.

  I know this is not ideal, but my constraint is that I have a legacy application written in Clipper. I want to launch a new, WinForms/WPF application from inside the application (to ease transition). This legacy application written in Clipper launches using: SwpRunCmd("C:\MyApp\MyBat.bat",0) The batch file contains something like this command: C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore "http://QASVR/MyApp/AppWin/MyCompany.MyApp.AppWin.application#MyCompany.MyApp.AppWin.application" It is launching a WinForms/WPF app that is we deploy via ClickOnce. Everything has been going well until we introduced WPF into the application. We were able to easily launch from the legacy application. Since we have introduced WPF, however, we have the following behavior. If we launch via the Clipper application first, we get an exception when launching the application. The neat thing is that whatever we launch with first determines whether the app will launch at all. So, if we launch with legacy first, it breaks right away and we can't get the app to run even if we launch with the otherwise successful URL or icon. To get it to work, we have to logout and log back in and start it from the URL or icon. If we first use the URL or the icon, we have no problem launching from the legacy application from that point forward (until we logout and come back in). One other piece of information is that we are able to simulate the problem in the following fashion. If we enter a command prompt using "cmd.exe" and execute a statement to launch from a URL, we are successful. If, however, we enter a command prompt using "command.com" and we execute that same statement, we experience the breaking behavior. We assume it is because the legacy application in Clipper uses the equivalent of command.com to create the shell to spawn the other app. We have tried a bunch of hacks like having command.com run cmd.exe or psexec and then executing, but nothing seems to work. We have some ideas for workarounds (like making the app launch on startup so we force the successful launch from a URL, making all subsequent launches successful), but they all are sub-optimal even though we have a great deal of control over our workstations. To reduce the chance that this is related to permissions, we have given the launching account administrative rights (as well as non-administrative rights in case that made a difference). • Losing data after reading them correct from file

  i have the fallowing class of object with a class a data structure which i use in main combined. The ADT(abstract data type) is a linked list. After i read from file the input data and create and object which at print looks just fine after a print. after i push_back() the 3-rd int variable get initializated to 0. • null pointer exception comparing two strings in java.

Both at this point definatly have a value neither is null. Can anyone please tell me whats going wrong?

However, the buttons that i wish to apply the trigger that fires the update to, are in another content place holder(). How can i possibly get those buttons to act as the trigger while changing only what appears in the main content area. Plus, i tried getting the updatepanel to work just so i could see if it does the update well but it turned out really bad. i added some linkbottons in the content template area and used them as the triggers for testing reasons. i tested and the changes took over the entire page in contrast to just appearing in the content area. I actually just wanted to load a form that is created in another asp. page into the main content area... I seriously need help with this... • Landscape-only orientation + view controllers: What am I still missing?

  Hi. I can't believe I am still having problems with screen orientation, now on the iPad. This is an app that only supports one of the two landscape orientation. In my info.plist, I include: <string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight</string> <string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft</string> In Interface Builder, all my views are created in landscape orientation. Only the main Window is not, but I don't see a way to change that. When launched, I get the following coordinates for my main window and the main viewcontroller view: Window frame {{0, 0}, {768, 1024}} mainView frame {{0, 0}, {748, 1024}} (Changing the frame at runtime to be what I expect, does not change the odd behavior.) All other views after that show these coordinates when summoned (when loaded but before being presented): frame of keysig {{0, 0}, {1024, 768}} frame of instrumentSelect {{20, 0}, {1024, 768}} frame of settings {{0, 0}, {467, 300}} In all my viewControllers, i respond to shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation with: return ((interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) || (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight)); In my app, everything (almost) functions as expected. The app launches into one of the two landscape modes. The views (and viewcontrollers) display everything where it belongs, taps work all across the screen, as expected. However, there are two clues that something is still wrong. Clue #1: I have two viewcontrollers that are UITabeViewControllers. When summoned, they are supposed to open up their views and scroll to the selected row of the table. However it is evident that they scroll, but they don't scroll down far enough. It seems that they think that the screen extends further down and they scroll just enough to move the row to a place near the bottom of the screen, but that location is not visible. When the views are loaded, the coordinates are: frame of keysig {{0, 0}, {1024, 768}} frame of instrumentSelect {{20, 0}, {1024, 768}} When I present them using a popover, the frames get resized to: frame of keysig {{0, 0}, {320, 655}} frame of instrumentSelect {{0, 0}, {320, 655}} The frame of the viewController that does the presentation, same mainView frame mentioned above is: frame of self {{20, 0}, {748, 1024}} I have also tried to accomplish the same thing with presentModalViewController instead of presentPopover, and have the same results. This is what the popovers look like: In both cases, the selected row is below the horizon, even though the tableView did visibly scroll in order to make the row visible. I am not sure what to try next. I checked each UITable's scrollView content coordinates and they seemed reasonable. It almost seems like a UITable internal rect gets created with the wrong number and stays that way. Clue #2: All my actionsheets come up with a width of 320. I can only assume that the iPad allows actionSheets in only 320 or 480 widths and since it somehow thinks that the screen is oriented in portrait mode, and then uses the narrower width. There you have it. I can't believe I am still getting hung up on orientation issues. I swear Apple doesn't make it easy to have a landscape app. Any ideas?

  My application has a SQLite database in the asset folder. When the user launches my application, the database is created and the tables too. This works fine with a lot of devices (Nexus One, Htc Magic, SGS, X10… and even Htc Desire HD v2.2). My application works with all versions of Android (tested on my device (1.6, 2.2, 2.2.1 Htc Magic) and on the emulator (v1,5 until v2.3). I have just a problem with HTC DESIRE HD v2.2.1 1.72.405.3.
