  • winsock compile error

    - by ioil
The following errors are from a file with just windows and winsock2 included. C:\Users\ioil\Desktop\dm\bin>dmc sockit.c typedef struct fd_set { ^ C:\Users\ioil\Desktop\dm\bin\..\include\win32\WINSOCK2.H(85) : Error: 'fd_set' is already defined } fd_set; ^ C:\Users\ioil\Desktop\dm\bin\..\include\win32\WINSOCK2.H(88) : Error: identifier or '( declarator )' expected struct timeval { ^ C:\Users\ioil\Desktop\dm\bin\..\include\win32\WINSOCK2.H(129) : Error: 'timeval' is already defined }; ^ C:\Users\ioil\Desktop\dm\bin\..\include\win32\WINSOCK2.H(132) : Error: identifier or '( declarator )' expected struct hostent { ^ C:\Users\ioil\Desktop\dm\bin\..\include\win32\WINSOCK2.H(185) : Error: 'hostent' is already defined Fatal error: too many errors --- errorlevel 1 C:\Users\ioil\Desktop\dm\bin> What's already been tried : placing the winsock.dll file in the same directory as the compiler and program to be compiled, placing it in the system32 directory, and entering it in the registry with the regsrv32 command. Don't really know where to go from here, appreciate any advice . . .

  • Scala regex Named Capturing Groups

    - by Brent
In scala.util.matching.Regex trait MatchData I see that there support for groupnames (Named Capturing Groups) But since Java does not support groupnames until version 7 as I understand it, Scala version 2.8.0.RC4 (Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM, Java 1.6. gives me this exception: scala> val pattern = """(?<login>\w+) (?<id>\d+)""".r java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException: Look-behind group does not have an obvio us maximum length near index 11 (?<login>\w+) (?<id>\d+) ^ at java.util.regex.Pattern.error(Pattern.java:1713) at java.util.regex.Pattern.group0(Pattern.java:2488) at java.util.regex.Pattern.sequence(Pattern.java:1806) at java.util.regex.Pattern.expr(Pattern.java:1752) at java.util.regex.Pattern.compile(Pattern.java:1460) So the question is Named Capturing Groups supported in Scala? If so any examples out there? If not I might look into the Named-Regexp lib from clement.denis.

  • Free static checker for C99 code

    - by detly
I am looking for a free static checker for C99 code (including GCC extensions) with the ability to explicitly say "these preprocessor macros are always defined." I need that last part because I am compiling embedded code for a single target processor. The compiler (Microchip's C32, GCC based) sets a macro based on the selected processor, which is then used in the PIC32 header files to select a processor-specific header file to include. cppcheck therefore fails because it detects the 30 different #ifdefs used to select one of the many possible PIC32 processors, tries to analyse all possible combinations of these plus all other #defines, and fails. For example, if splint could process C99 code, I would use splint -D__PIC32_FEATURE_SET__=460 -D__32MX460F512L__ \ -D__LANGUAGE_C__ -I/path/to/my/includes source.c

  • ASP.NET or ASP.NET MVC or Silverlight or a mixture of all ?

    - by Elmex
I want to start to implement a new web application from the scratch. I have 2 years experiences with ASP.NET. Now Microsoft offers ASP.NET MVC. I have read a little about the concepts behind, but I am not sure if I should use the classic ASP.NET variant or the new one. Perhaps it makes sense to mix it ? Or should I move to Silverlight ? What do you thing ? What are the advantages and disadvantages of all these variants ?

  • NSInteger differences between CLI and GUI ?

    - by d11wtq
I've been building a framework and writing unit tests in GHUnit. One of my Framework's accessor methods returns an NSInteger. I assert the expected value in the tests like this: GHAssertEquals(1320, request.port, @"Port number should be 1320"); When running my tests with an AppKit UI based frontend this assertion passes. However, when I run my tests on the command line, it fails with a type-mismatch unless I type-cast my hard-coded 1320 as (NSInteger). What's causing the difference in the way the integer is being interpreted by the compiler? Is xcodebuild on the command line using a different data-type for hard coded integers?

  • Using a member function with QScriptEngine::newFunction

    - by Rohan Prabhu
Hey all, Let's take the case of a simple class: QScriptEngine engine; class MyClass { public: QScriptValue foo(QScriptContext*, QScriptEngine*); MyClass(); }; QScriptValue MyClass:foo(QScriptContext* context, QScriptEngine* eng) { //something } MyClass::MyClass() { QScriptValue self = engine.newFunction(this->foo, 0); .... } The above function gives me an error: no matching function for call to ‘QScriptEngine::newFunction(<unresolved overloaded function type>, int)’ I have tried using engine.newFunction(reinterpret_cast<FunctionSignature>(foo), 0); but this gives me an error which basically says that the compiler is not aware of a keyword called 'FunctionSignature'. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot. Regards, rohan

  • Haskell Console IO in notepad++

    - by IVlad
I've recently started to learn Haskell. I have this code module Main where import IO main = do hSetBuffering stdin LineBuffering putStrLn "Please enter your name: " name <- getLine putStrLn ("Hello, " ++ name ++ ", how are you?") I'm using the GHC compiler together with the notepad++ editor. The problem is the interaction goes like this: Process started Vlad Please enter your name: Hello, Vlad, how are you? <<< Process finished. As you can see, output is only written after I input something. This was a bit unexpected, as I was sure the program would first ask for my name, then I'd get to enter it and then it would say hello. Well, that's exactly what happens if I run the exe manually, yet not if I run it with notepad++ and use its console wrapper... How can I make notepad++ display the output when it should, and not all of it just before the program terminates? Is this even possible?

Also I would like to add the validation to the top of the screen as a validation summary Any Ideas ?

  • Why does Java read its default settings from the system

    - by Bozho
Java is reading the locale, timezone and encoding information (and perhaps more) from the system it is installed on. This often brings bad surprises (brought me one just yesterday). Say your development and production servers are set to have TimeZone GMT+2. Then you deploy on a production server set to GMT. a 2-hour shift may not be easy to observe immediately. And although you can pass a TimeZone to your calendars, APIs might be instantiating calendars (or dates) using the default timezone. Now, I know one should be careful with these settings, but are easy to miss, hence make programs more error-prone. So, why doesn't Java have its own defaults - UTF-8, GMT, en_US (yes, I'm on non-en_US locale, but having it as default is fine). Applications could read the system settings via some API, if needed. Thus programs would be more predictable. So, what is the reason behind this decision?

  • non-class rvalues always have cv-unqualified types

    - by FredOverflow
§3.10 section 9 says "non-class rvalues always have cv-unqualified types". That made me wonder... int foo() { return 5; } const int bar() { return 5; } void pass_int(int&& i) { std::cout << "rvalue\n"; } void pass_int(const int&& i) { std::cout << "const rvalue\n"; } int main() { pass_int(foo()); // prints "rvalue" pass_int(bar()); // prints "const rvalue" } According to the standard, there is no such thing as a const rvalue for non-class types, yet bar() prefers to bind to const int&&. Is this a compiler bug? EDIT: Apparently, this is also a const rvalue :)

  • C++ namespace alias and forward declaration

    - by Dave
I am using a C++ third party library that places all of its classes in a versioned namespace, let's call it tplib_v44. They also define a generic namespace alias: namespace tplib = tplib_v44; If a forward-declare a member of the library in my own .h file using the generic namespace... namespace tplib { class SomeClassInTpLib; } ... I get compiler errors on the header in the third-party library (which is being included later in my .cpp implementation file): error C2386: 'tplib' : a symbol with this name already exists in the current scope If I use the version-specific namespace, then everything works fine, but then ... what's the point? What's the best way to deal with this?

  • HOM with Objective C

    - by Coxer
Hey, i am new to objective C, but i tried to use HOM in order to iterate over an NSArray and append a string to each element. here is my code: void print( NSArray *array ) { NSEnumerator *enumerator = [array objectEnumerator]; id obj; while ( nil!=(obj = [enumerator nextObject]) ) { printf( "%s\n", [[obj description] cString] ); } } int main( int argc, const char *argv[] ) { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSArray *names = [[NSArray alloc] init]; NSArray *names_concat = [[NSArray alloc] init]; names = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"John",@"Mary",@"Bob",nil]; names_concat = [[names collect] stringByAppendingString: @" Doe"]; print(names_concat); [pool release]; } What is wrong with this code? My compiler (gcc) says NSArray may not respond to "-collect"

  • When are ASP.NET Expression Builders most useful?

    - by SkippyFire
I saw an example of using Expression Builders, and creating your own Custom Expression Builder Classes here: http://aspnet.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/022509-1.aspx However, I fail to see the value in using this approach. It doesn't seem much easier than programmatically setting values in your code behind. As far as I can tell, the only thing you can do with them is set properties. Maybe they would be useful for setting defaults on certain controls? Can anyone shed light on where this ASP.NET feature becomes powerful?

  • Constant expression with custom object

    - by nils
I'm trying to use an instant of a custom class as a template parameter. class X { public: X() {}; }; template <class Foo, Foo foo> struct Bar { }; const X x; Bar<X, x> foo; The compiler states that x cannot appear in a constant expression. Why that? There is everything given to construct that object at compile time.

  • How can I set up a fault-tolerant web-service built with Erlang/OTP?

    - by Jonas
I would like to setup a fault-tolerant web-service. I will build the web-service with Erlang/OTP. At the beginning the web-service will be hosted on a few VPS. Each VPS has its own IP-address, and I can use more if IPs if I need. I would like to have the domain name pointing to a single IP-address. How can setup my Erlang/OTP-application to be fault-tolerant behind a single IP-address? Do I need to use VLAN? Is there a way my Erlang/OTP-application can use heartbeats and handle virtual IP-addresses to route the traffic? or how should I solve this problem?

  • Customizing an item's view in SharePoint Designer

    - by agnieszka
I've created a list called Newsletters (columns: Title, Date and News - a multi lookup to a News list), and a DataFormWebPart displaying an item from this list. Now I'm modifing the XSLT transformation to change the displayed view. At the moment an item is simply displayed with its Title, Date and News attributes, where News attribute is displayed as a list of News items titles - this is the default. Instead of the titles, I would like to also display these news' Content. The problem is that I have no idea how to get to these elements. The News attribute is being referred in xslt simply as <xsl:value-of select="@News"/> and I can't get to the elements that lie behind it. Any suggestions on how I can do it?

  • Launching python within python and timezone issue

    - by Gabi Purcaru
I had to make a launcher script for my django app, and it seems it somehow switches the timezone to GMT (default being +2), and every datetime is two hours behind when using the script. What could be causing that? Here is the launcher script that I use: #!/usr/bin/env python import os import subprocess import shlex import time cwd = os.getcwd() p1 = subprocess.Popen(shlex.split("python manage.py runserver"), cwd=os.path.join(cwd, "drugsworld")) p2 = subprocess.Popen(shlex.split("python coffee_auto_compiler.py"), cwd=os.path.join(cwd)) try: while True: time.sleep(2) except KeyboardInterrupt: p1.terminate() p2.terminate() If I manually run python manage.py runserver, the timezone is +2. If, however, I use this script, the timezone is set to GMT.

  • OpenGL - Frustum not culling polygons beyond far plane

    - by Pladnius Brooks
    I have implemented frustum culling and am checking the bounding box for its intersection with the frustum planes. I added the ability to pause frustum updates which lets me see if the frustum culling has been working correctly. When I turn around after I have paused it, nothing renders behind me and to the left and right side, they taper off as well just as you would expect. Beyond the clip distance (far plane), they still render and I am not sure whether it is a problem with my frustum updating or bounding box checking code or I am using the wrong matrix or what. As I put the distance in the projection matrix at 3000.0f, it still says that bounding boxes well past that are still in the frustum, which isn't the case. Here is where I create my modelview matrix: projectionMatrix = glm::perspective(newFOV, 4.0f / 3.0f, 0.1f, 3000.0f); viewMatrix = glm::mat4(1.0); viewMatrix = glm::scale(viewMatrix, glm::vec3(1.0, 1.0, -1.0)); viewMatrix = glm::rotate(viewMatrix, anglePitch, glm::vec3(1.0, 0.0, 0.0)); viewMatrix = glm::rotate(viewMatrix, angleYaw, glm::vec3(0.0, 1.0, 0.0)); viewMatrix = glm::translate(viewMatrix, glm::vec3(-x, -y, -z)); modelViewProjectiomMatrix = projectionMatrix * viewMatrix; The reason I scale it by -1 in the Z direction is because the levels were designed to be rendered with DirectX so I reverse the Z direction. Here is where I update my frustum: void CFrustum::calculateFrustum() { glm::mat4 mat = camera.getModelViewProjectionMatrix(); // Calculate the LEFT side m_Frustum[LEFT][A] = (mat[0][3]) + (mat[0][0]); m_Frustum[LEFT][B] = (mat[1][3]) + (mat[1][0]); m_Frustum[LEFT][C] = (mat[2][3]) + (mat[2][0]); m_Frustum[LEFT][D] = (mat[3][3]) + (mat[3][0]); // Calculate the RIGHT side m_Frustum[RIGHT][A] = (mat[0][3]) - (mat[0][0]); m_Frustum[RIGHT][B] = (mat[1][3]) - (mat[1][0]); m_Frustum[RIGHT][C] = (mat[2][3]) - (mat[2][0]); m_Frustum[RIGHT][D] = (mat[3][3]) - (mat[3][0]); // Calculate the TOP side m_Frustum[TOP][A] = (mat[0][3]) - (mat[0][1]); m_Frustum[TOP][B] = (mat[1][3]) - (mat[1][1]); m_Frustum[TOP][C] = (mat[2][3]) - (mat[2][1]); m_Frustum[TOP][D] = (mat[3][3]) - (mat[3][1]); // Calculate the BOTTOM side m_Frustum[BOTTOM][A] = (mat[0][3]) + (mat[0][1]); m_Frustum[BOTTOM][B] = (mat[1][3]) + (mat[1][1]); m_Frustum[BOTTOM][C] = (mat[2][3]) + (mat[2][1]); m_Frustum[BOTTOM][D] = (mat[3][3]) + (mat[3][1]); // Calculate the FRONT side m_Frustum[FRONT][A] = (mat[0][3]) + (mat[0][2]); m_Frustum[FRONT][B] = (mat[1][3]) + (mat[1][2]); m_Frustum[FRONT][C] = (mat[2][3]) + (mat[2][2]); m_Frustum[FRONT][D] = (mat[3][3]) + (mat[3][2]); // Calculate the BACK side m_Frustum[BACK][A] = (mat[0][3]) - (mat[0][2]); m_Frustum[BACK][B] = (mat[1][3]) - (mat[1][2]); m_Frustum[BACK][C] = (mat[2][3]) - (mat[2][2]); m_Frustum[BACK][D] = (mat[3][3]) - (mat[3][2]); // Normalize all the sides NormalizePlane(m_Frustum, LEFT); NormalizePlane(m_Frustum, RIGHT); NormalizePlane(m_Frustum, TOP); NormalizePlane(m_Frustum, BOTTOM); NormalizePlane(m_Frustum, FRONT); NormalizePlane(m_Frustum, BACK); } And finally, where I check the bounding box: bool CFrustum::BoxInFrustum( float x, float y, float z, float x2, float y2, float z2) { // Go through all of the corners of the box and check then again each plane // in the frustum. If all of them are behind one of the planes, then it most // like is not in the frustum. for(int i = 0; i < 6; i++ ) { if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x + m_Frustum[i][B] * y + m_Frustum[i][C] * z + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x2 + m_Frustum[i][B] * y + m_Frustum[i][C] * z + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x + m_Frustum[i][B] * y2 + m_Frustum[i][C] * z + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x2 + m_Frustum[i][B] * y2 + m_Frustum[i][C] * z + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x + m_Frustum[i][B] * y + m_Frustum[i][C] * z2 + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x2 + m_Frustum[i][B] * y + m_Frustum[i][C] * z2 + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x + m_Frustum[i][B] * y2 + m_Frustum[i][C] * z2 + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; if(m_Frustum[i][A] * x2 + m_Frustum[i][B] * y2 + m_Frustum[i][C] * z2 + m_Frustum[i][D] > 0) continue; // If we get here, it isn't in the frustum return false; } // Return a true for the box being inside of the frustum return true; }

  • Shark was unable to find symbol information for this address range - iPhone

    - by Elliot
I'm trying to use Shark to determine which method(s) are taking the most time in my iPhone app. After sampling, I get this: Clicking the "!" button yields: Shark was unable to find symbol information for this address range. Typically this happens because the application was compiled without symbols or they have been subsequently stripped away. In Xcode, make sure the "Generate Debug Symbols" checkbox is selected (passes the -g flag to the compiler). Note that this does not affect code optimization, and does not typically alter performance significantly. However, the extra symbol information does consume significantly more space and may bloat the size of the executable. But I AM using the Debug option, and I am running on my Device. And Generate Debug Symbols IS checked. So what's wrong?

  • iPhone connect to MySQL database on local network computer

    - by Billy Blanks
I'm a bit of a noob to iPhone programming and I've read up on using PHP as the connection between an iPhone app and a remotely hosted MySQL database, but what I need to do is to connect directly to a MySQL database running on a local machine in my office. The machine is behind the same gateway and has an ip address similar to 192.169.x.x. Is that possible without PHP in the middle or anything else for that matter? Thanks in advance. Really appreciate this site.
