  • How can I embed a conditional comment for IE with innerHTML?

    Ok so I want to conditionally add this line of code; <!--[if ! IE]> <embed src="logo.svg" type="image/svg+xml" /> <![endif]--> Using: document.getElementById("logo") .innerHTML='...'; In a if()/else() statement and it don't write it! If i get rid of the selective comment ( <!--[if ! IE]><![endif]-->) and only put the SVG ( <embed src="logo.svg" type="image/svg+xml" /> ) it work! what should I do?     Please, have a look at: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/base-css.html There are many examples like this one: if you look closer to the block borders, you can see that the gray block is under the white one. Using the browser's developer tools you can see that both boxes have an inherited z-index: auto; I can't reproduce this effect on my website (without using z-index). So, my question is: Why is the gray block under the white one?

So say for instance that I want something to happen when a visibility of a div changes.     I have a django html form for address information. There is standard street, city, state/province, postal code, country fields. The country field is a drop down list. How can I make the state/province field a drop down list if the selected country is united states and a free form text box if the country is anything else? I'd prefer not to have to do a round trip to the server so probably through jquery?

  • Is an editable select box the right way?

    I have a scenario where a user is emailing another user in an HTML based web app. For the To: field, the user may select one of a pre-defined list of emails OR enter their own ignoring the pre-defined options. What would be the best way of doing this from a UI point of view? I've looked at editable select boxes using jQuery but none seem to let you enter your own option. Is there some other UI mechanism that would work here?
