  • Internet Explorer background-color hover problem

    I have a strange Problem with table formating using IE 7. My table looks like this: In IE, when using border-collapse, the borders don't get displayed correctly. That's why I used this fix: .table-vmlist td { border-top: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-status, tr.row-details td { border-left: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-rdp, tr.row-details td { border-right: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist { border-bottom: 1px solid black;} When hovering over the row, it gets highlighted with CSS: .table-vmlist tr.row-vm { background-color: #A4C3EF; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm:hover { background-color: #91BAEF; } Now, in IE 7, when moving the mouse from the top to the bottom of the list, every row gets highlighted correctly and no problems happen. But if I move my mouse pointer from the bottom of the list to the top, every second row seems to loose the border. Can someone explain what the problem is, and how to solve it? I supposed that not only will be sufficient the following tasks: Improve usability of those pages. Change the pages title. Add meta description and keywords. Url's in a REST way. 301's http header to dont lose page rank for the new URLS Optimizing content for Google. Configure links of the website (follow and no follow attributes) Get more inbounds links (Link building tasks). Create RSS. Put main website in Twitter (using twitter feed) using the RSS. Put main website in Facebook. Create a Youtube channel. Invest in Adwords. Invest in other online advertising companies. Use sitemap.xml and Google Webmaster tools. Use Google Trends to analyze the volume of searches of certain keywords. Use Google Analytics to analyze weak points and good points of your site, and find new oportunities in keywords. Use tools to find new keywords related with your content. Do you have some internet links, or knowledge about all the tasks that a SEO Expert should do? Could you share some knowledge about what kind of business could be do with another companies (B2B) to increase the search engine position of those product pages.   • Want to display a 3D model on the iPhone: how to get started?

    I want to display and rotate a single 3D model, preferably textured, on the iPhone. Doesn't have to zoom in and out, or have a background, or anything. I have the following: an iPhone a MacBook the iPhone SDK Blender My knowledge base: I can make 3D models in various 3D programs (I'm most comfortable with 3D Studio Max, which I once took a course on, but I've used others) General knowledge of procedural programming from years ago (QuickBasic - I'm old!) Beginner's knowledge of object-oriented programming from going through simple Java and C# tutorials (Head Start C# book and my wife's intro to OOP course that used Java) I have managed to display a 3D textured model and spin it using a tutorial in C# I got off the net (I didn't just copy and paste, I understand basically how it works) and the XNA game development library, using Visual Studio on Windows. What I do not know: Much about Objective C Anything about OpenGL or OpenGL ES, which the iPhone apparently uses Anything about XCode My main problem is that I don't know where to start! All the iPhone books I found seem to be about creating GUI applications, not OpenGL apps. I found an OpenGL book but I don't know how much, if any, applies to iPhone development. And I find the Objective C syntax somewhat confusing, with the weird nested method naming, things like "id" that don't make sense, and the scary thought that I have to do manual memory management. Where is the best place to start? I couldn't find any tutorials for this sort of thing, but maybe my Google-Fu is weak. Or maybe I should start with learning Objective C? I know of books like Aaron Hillgrass', but I've also read that they are outdated and much of the sample code doesn't work on the iPhone SDK, plus it seems geared towards the Model-View-Controller paradigm which doesn't seem that suited for 3D apps. Basically I'm confused about what my first steps should be.

  • node.js beginner tutorials?

    Hey all, I'm working on creating my first real node.js http server, and I'm sort of drowning in it. As a good teacher of mine always said, "I'll just shove you in the water for now, and then I'll show you how to swim." Fortunately, she wasn't a swimming instructor, but it's a good analogy nonetheless. I feel like I've jumped into node.js and I've only found a ping pong ball to help, that is to say, most of the tutorials I've read stop shortly after the "Hello World" example and I've mostly been trying to make sense of copied and pasted code (or they assume I have knowledge of lower level HTTP and webserver concepts that have been done for me as an Apache/PHP developer). I have experience in both client-side Javascript and PHP, but node seems to be a beast all of its own. I don't quite have the low-level knowledge that seems necessary for creating a node server, and connect, which seems to be a nice module for simplifying things, seems quite sparsely explained, even in the docs on its Git. Where could I find some tutorials to help me in this situation? TL;DR - Are there any tutorials for node.js that go beyond "Hello World" but don't require much low-level knowledge? Or any tutorials that explain lower-level HTTP and webserver concepts that I would need to effectively create a node HTTP server? Thanks for any help. -Trey

  • What's the difference between UI development and front-end development?

    I'm a front-end developer and really enjoy jQuery and JavaScript. I've built a lot a websites, done some good jQuery work and built a few JavaScript based applications and would really like to get in UI development. Or so I thought. I guessed it would be pretty similar to what I already do except maybe a little more JavaScript heavy but when I looked into it all the job specs said I needed to know about Scrum or Agile development, knowledge of testing frameworks and a good knowledge of JavaScript frameworks and custom events. So, from the specs I get the idea that a UI developer is actually a dedicated JavaScript developer. Is that the case? I understand (with much help from the users on stackoverflow), about JavaScript OO, inheritance, closures, custom events, debugging in Firefox or Aptana etc, and the people I work with seem to think I pretty OK at what I do but clearly my knowledge is not good enough to go for UI jobs. If anyone could tell me a little more about UI development and if there are any good resources for learning about it I would be most grateful as I couldn't find much on the internet.

    Hi all, I am gathering performance data via WMI and would like to avoid having to use an account in the Administrators group for this purpose. The target machine is running Windows Server 2003 with the latest SP/updates. I've done what I believe to be the appropriate configuration to allow our user access to WMI (similar to what is described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa393266.aspx). Here are the specific steps that were followed: Open Administrative Tools - Computer Management: Under Computer Management (Local) Expand Services and Applications, right click WMI Control and select properties. In the Security tab, expand Root, highlight CIMV2, click Security (near bottom of window); add Performance Monitor Users and enable the options : Enable Account and Remote Enable. ­Open Administrative Tools - Component Services: Under Console Root go to Component Services- Computers - Right click My Computer and select properties, select the COM security tab, in “Access Permissions” click "Edit Default" select(or add then select) “Performance Monitor Users” group and allow local access and remote access and click ok.     I am gathering performance data via WMI and would like to avoid having to use an account in the Administrators group for this purpose. The target machine is running Windows Server 2003 with the latest SP/updates. I've done what I believe to be the appropriate configuration to allow our user access to WMI (similar to what is described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa393266.aspx). Here are the specific steps that were followed: Open Administrative Tools - Computer Management: Under Computer Management (Local) Expand Services and Applications, right click WMI Control and select properties. In the Security tab, expand Root, highlight CIMV2, click Security (near bottom of window); add Performance Monitor Users and enable the options : Enable Account and Remote Enable. ­Open Administrative Tools - Component Services: Under Console Root go to Component Services- Computers - Right click My Computer and select properties, select the COM security tab, in “Access Permissions” click "Edit Default" select(or add then select) “Performance Monitor Users” group and allow local access and remote access and click ok.   • Server 2008 RAID5 resynching

    I built a W2K8 R2 server last weekend, and built a R5 array using Disk Management, 5x 1TB drives. For the next 60 hours the status said 'Resynching (X%)' as it built the array. during this time i did read and write to the drive (slowly) and once the rebuild was complete speeds were quite fast. I was copying over some data from a USB hard drive overnight, and the machine crashed (looking in the error i believe it was the driver for the usb drive) and so the RAID5 went back to resynching, since the machine was not shut down properly. The issue is, it's been about 48 hours since that started and I'm happy to say it will take roughly 60 hours again to resynch, however.. all this time in Disk Management, the status has only said 'Resynching', not 'Resynching (X%)'. The hard drive light is going nuts, and read/writes are slow again, so I'm assuming it is actually resynching. The question is - is that a correct assumption? and why is disk management not telling me what %age it's done? Is this normal behaviour for a not-properly-shut-down r5 array?

  • Indefinite hang when restoring SQL 2005 database on a SQL 2008 server in EC2

    I'm trying to restore a 25 GB database backup taken from a Windows 2003/SQL 2005 machine to a Windows 2008/SQL 2008 machine in the Amazon EC2 cloud, using a .bak file and the SQL Management Studio. SQL Management Studio reports the restore reaches 100% complete, and then just hangs indefinitely (24+ hours) using a lot of CPU, until I restart the SQL Server service. Upon restart, SQL again uses a lot of CPU activity for what seems to be an indefinite amount of time, but the DB never comes online. Here are some details: - I have created two EBS volumes, one for DATA and one for LOGS, and I have set the default directories in SQL Server to the \DATA and \LOG directory on these respective volumes. (I wonder if the issue could be related to this, but the DB is too big to restore on the root drive.) - I have given the SQL Server user group full access to these directories. - The server can create a new empty test DB in these directories just fine, and can backup and restore the test DB. - I have tried both restoring of a .bak file and attaching directly to copies of the original .mdf/.ldf files, and the result is the same in both cases. - Both the .bak restore and the .mdf/.ldf attach occur from/to the EBS volumes. - I've also tried the above via SQL script, and "WITH RECOVERY", with no difference in the result, just less UI. - The backup contains two full text indexes. - I have to use "WITH MOVE" for most of the files in the backup. - There's nothing wrong with the backup or .mdf/.ldf files, as this works just fine on a Windows 2003/SQL 2005 machine in the Amazon EC2, but not Windows 2008/SQL 2008. - The DB is NOT marked as "Restoring" in the SQL Management Studio - it is just listed as a normal database, but throws errors when I try to do anything with it (expand the object browser tree, view properties, etc.) Any ideas?

  • Automate Windows 7's file sharing and firewall settings

    I am working with my school to customize Windows 7 on some new laptops we are receiving. The laptops come with Windows 7 Professional already installed, and we do not need or want to reimage them. We would however like to customize the installation once it is in place, through a series of scripts. We will also be deploying these scripts to computers which have already been set up. Most of the settings we wish to change can be done easily from the command line or with a registry file. However, there is one thing we keep getting hung up on: networking options. Is there any unattended way to set the Windows 7 networking configuration? We would like to set the following things automatically, which are found under Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings > Home or Work network: Turn on network discovery Turn on printer and file sharing Turn off public folder sharing Turn on password protected sharing Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers We also need to configure the firewall to allow the following exceptions: File and printer sharing Remote assistance Remote desktop Remote scheduled tasks management Remote service management Windows remote management I've looked around, and can't find any way to change these things - I looked into netsh, registry settings, and even used RegMon to watch while I changed the values manually, all to no avail. Google hasn't offered up anything helpful so far. If anyone could provide some insight, I would very much appreciate it. I did find out that much of this is configurable with group policy, but because these computers are in a workgroup, not a domain, I don't know of any way to take advantage of that in an unattended manner.

  • Move database from SQL Server 2012 to 2008

    I have a database on a SQL Sever 2012 instance which I would like to copy to a 2008 server. The 2008 server cannot restore backups created by a 2012 server (I have tried). I cannot find any options in 2012 to create a 2008 compatible backup. Am I missing something? Is there an easy way to export the schema and data to a version-agnostic format which I can then import into 2008? The database does not use any 2012 specific features. It contains tables, data and stored procedures. Here is what I have tried so far: I tried "tasks" - "generate scripts" on the 2012 server, and I was able to generate the schema (including stored procedures) as a sql script. This didn't include any of the data, though. After creating that schema on my 2008 machine, I was able to open the "Export Data" wizard on the 2012 machine, and after configuring the 2012 as source machine and the 2008 as target machine, I was presented with a list of tables which I could copy. I selected all my tables (300+), and clicked through the wizard. Unfortunately it spends ages generating its scripts, then fails with errors like "Failure inserting into the read-only column 'FOO_ID'". I also tried the "Copy Database Wizard", which claimed to be able to copy "from 2000 or later to 2005 or later". It has two modes: 1) "detach and attach", which failed with error: Message: Index was outside the bounds of the array. StackTrace: at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.PropertyBag.SetValue(Int32 index, Object value) ... at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.DataFile.get_FileName() 2) SQL Management Object Method which failed with error "Cannot read property IsFileStream.This property is not available on SQL Server 7.0."

    I am having difficulty installing Microsoft Web Deploy 3.0 to a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. I have tried installing with both the Web Platform Installer and the MSI package but installation fails while trying to execute the MSI custom action ExecuteRegisterUIModuleCA.   • How to utilize 4TB HDD, which is showing up as 2.72TB

    I have two internal HDD's. They're both 4TB capacity. They're both formatted with the GPT partitioning scheme, and they're Basic Discs (not dynamic). I'm on Windows 8 64bit. I have UEFI, not BIOS. When I view the discs in Computer Management MMC with Disk Management, they show that each partition is formatted as NTFS and takes up the entire drive. And it shows that each drive has a capacity of 3725.90GB in the bottom section of Disk Management, but 2.794.39GB in the top section. When I view the discs in "My Computer"/"This PC" they only show up as 2.72TB, which matches the amount capacity I'm getting from some other 3TB HDD's I have. Why are they showing up as only 2.72GB? Will I be able to use the full 4TB capacity? Also of note, although I'm not sure it's relevant: I often get corrupted files on these two HDD's. None of my other HDD's give me corrupted files. Usually the problem is fixed by running chkdsk /f on the drives, but it's extremely annoying. In the picture below, it's the X: and Y: drives. Steps I've tried Flashed latest BIOS (MSI J.90 to K.30)

  • Internal but no external Citrix Access?

    We recently had to reload our configuration of Citrix on our server Server1, and since we have, we can access Citrix internally, but not externally. Normally we access Citrix from http://remote.xyz.org/Citrix/XenApp but since the configuration was reloaded we are met with a Service Unavailable message. Internally accessing the Citrix web application from http://localhost/Citrix/XenApp/ on Server1 we are able to access the web application. And also from machines on our local network using http://Server1/Citrix/XenApp/. I have gone into the Citrix Access Management Console and from the tree pane on the left clicked on Citrix Access Management Console->Citrix Resources->Configuration Tools->Web Interface->http://remote.xyz.org/Citrix/PNAgent Citrix Access Management Console->Citrix Resources->Configuration Tools->Web Interface->http://remote.xyz.org/Citrix/XenApp, which in both cases displays a screen that reads Secure client access. Here it offers me several options: Direct, Alternate, Translated, Gateway Direct, Gateway Alternate, Gateway Translated. I know that I can change the method of use by clicking Manage secure client access->Edit secure client access settings which opens a window that reads "Specify Access Methods", and below that reads "Specify details of the DMZ settings, including IP address, mask, and associated access method", I don't know what the original settings were, and I also don't know how our DMZ is configured so that I can specify the correct settings, to give access to our external users on the http://remote.xyz.org/Citrix/XenApp site. We have a vendor who setup our DMZ and does not allow us access to the gateway to see these settings. What sorts of questions should I ask them to restore remote access?
