  Hi all, I am in need of some help with an error message I get with Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I would like to create a gallery for my site so I downloaded the NotesForGallery from codeplex. I have added the reference into the project like it told me to in the installation instructions. The instructions then say Register the ThumbnailHandler in the Web.Config file (httpHandlers section): <httpHandlers> … <add verb="*" path="ThumbnailHandler.ashx" type="NotesFor.ThumbnailHandler, NotesForGallery"/> … </httpHandlers> So I open the web.config file in my solution and I add it in. When I try and start the website (clicking the play button in Web Developer) I get the error message: Unrecognized configuration section httpHandlers. • Correct way to edit and update complex viewmodel objects using asp.net-mvc2 and entity framework

  I have a table in my database with a one to many relationship to another table: ParentObject ID Name Description ChildObject ID Name Description ParentObjectID AnotherObjectID The objects are mapped into Entity Framework and exposed through a data access class. Investigation on StackOverflow and generally googling led me to this blog post that seems to describe my problem: TryUpdateModel() does not correctly handle nested collections. Apparently, (and stepping through the debugger confirms this) it creates a new ChildObject instead of associating with the EF objects from my instantiated context. My hacky work around is this: if (viewModel.ChildObjects.Count > 0) { foreach (ChildObject modelChildObject in viewModel.ChildObjects) { ChildObject childToUpdate = ParentObject.ChildObject.Where(a => a.ID == modelChildObject.ID).First(); childToUpdate.Name = modelChildObject.Name; } } This seems to work fine. My question to you good folks: Is there correct way to do this? I tried following the suggestion for making a custom model binder per the blog link I posted above but it didn't work (there was an issue with reflection) and I needed to get something going ASAP. PS - I tried to cleanup the code to hide specific information, so beware I may have hosed something up. I mainly just want to know if other people have solved this problem. Thanks!

It appears I am missing a resource according to the debugger, but I'm not sure what. I've tried several different ways of implementing the button. I am fetch the value from database in the table view this is done after that we also insert value throw text field in that table of database and display that value in table view.I am also use another table in database table name is Alootikki the value of table alootikki is display in other table view in application and user want to add this table alootikki value in first table of database and display that value in table view when we do this value is display only in the table view this is not write in the database table. when value is display and user want to add other data throw text field then only that add value is show first value is remove from table view.   Hello, Does anyone know how to get the GUID from a PDB file? I'm using Microsoft's Debug Interface Access SDK http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/f0756hat.aspx and getting E_PDB_INVALID_SIG when passing in the GUID i expect when trying to load the PDB. I'd just like to know the GUID of the PDB so I can be certain that it's mismatching and not just a PDB that's perhaps corrupted somehow. Is there a tool that can do this? • Outlook 2013 keeps freezing, semi-consistently

  I have an oddity of problem with my Outlook's stability. It seems to be freezing up, not at random intervals, but based on a seemingly strange combination of configurations. I have been trying many different combinations, I've even devolved to "Cargo-cult" debugging, since I have no clue what is causing this... Here is my set up - since I don't know for sure which settings are causing the lockup, I'll probably mention irrelevant things: (relatively) clean install of Windows 8 (on hyper-v, if that matters) Clean install of Outlook 2013, fully updated 3 accounts configured: Hotmail account configured with ActiveSync Gmail account Large-ish account (several GB) connected with IMAP Only a few folders are subscribed in IMAP Outlook is set to only display subscribed folders configured to keep messages permanently Google Apps account, connected with IMAP Small account connected with IMAP All folders IMAP subscribed Outlook is set to only display subscribed folders configured to keep messages permanently Several Send/Receive Groups configured, to try different configurations of enabling/disable/partial the different accounts - with different send times, from 60 minutes down to 5 minutes. The problem is that at certain points Outlook completely freezes up and I have to kill it. This is not consistent - there are some things that cause it immediately almost consistently, there are some times that it just happens by itself after some period of time (sometimes a few moments, sometimes a few hours; sometimes while using it, sometimes after I've been away from it for a few hours). I have searched all over, and there seem to be many with similar (apparently) problem, and found numerous "solutions" (some even more cargocultish than mine), but so far none of them worked. I've removed all the accounts, both all together and one at a time, and re-configured them - eventually it freezes up. I've tried uninstalling Outlook, cleaning it up completely - removing files, app settings, registry keys, etc - then reinstalling - eventually it freezes up. I've only enabled the Hotmail account, disabling (but not removing) the Google accounts - apparently this does not lock up. I've enabled the Hotmail and the Gmail accounts, leaving the Apps one disabled - it seems like it does not lock up. With all accounts enabled, it locks up almost immediately after doing a send/receive. With only the Apps account enabled, it seems to not lock up. With the Hotmail and the Apps accounts enabled (Gmail disabled), it seems like it locks up after a random amount of time. With Hotmail enabled, and Gmail and Apps both enabled but set to receive only custom folder downloading (not all subscribed folders) - sometimes it locks up right after a send/receive, sometimes it goes for hours without locking up, and sometimes it only locks up when I send an email. I've tried switching the ports for the Google accounts (SSL/465 vs TLS/587), though I have no idea if this should affect, but no real difference. In short, I honestly have no idea what is actually causing Outlook to lock up, I might be completely barking up the wrong tree. At this point I don't really know what else to try, I'm flipping switches at random here. I would like to have all 3 accounts enabled, ideally in several groups (e.g. pull down only important folders in a group with short interval, and all other folders in a longer interval) - obviously without freezing up at all. I've tried putting in all the important details, if there is anything else important to add please let me know. Another issue that occurred to me might also be connected - the Google accounts don't always synchronize properly, even after a send/receive or "update folder". At least not consistently... though I haven't been able to find a significant connection between this and that.

Under JavaFx 2.1, 2.2, the table wouldn't refresh the update anymore. I found other people have similar issue. My plan was to continue using 2.0.3 until someone fixes the issue under 2.1 and 2.2. AND '+someVar2' = ...' sp_executesql sql What I would rather like to have is a TABLE variable of which is a reference to a table, so I could do for example: UPDATE TableRef SET ... WHERE ... I would like to be able to update our app without the user having to press an update button and be able to update at a time when the user won't have to wait for it to install.

• Problems with XP, Office, and PC in general - any ideas?

  Hi all This may not make a whole lot of sense so pls bear with me... I am about to perform a routine check on one of my user's PC. Some background - the PC has a Xeon processor and 4Gb of RAM and running XP SP3 He has 2xHDD and pagefile is hosted on the secondary HDD (D:) and min/max values are set to 4096. NO pagefile on C: This user has 6 monitors so he has an NVIDIA Quadro NVS440 hosting 4xmonitors and an NVIDIA Quadro NVS290 hosting 2xmonitors. There is a video card driver from NVIDIA which is compatible with both NVS440 and NVS290 and he is on the latest version of that driver. (Note: Make of video cards are different - one is from leadtek and the other from Nvidia) He is a heavy Bloomberg, Outlook, Word, and Excel user and runs two Citrix applications. Other apps are FoxIt PDF and IE. Problems - Outlook and Excel frequently crashes - I am going to perform an Outlook and Excel repair and also check/remove unnecessary addins - will he lose any customizations if I repaired and chose "Restore my shortcuts while repairing" and do not select "Discard my customized settings and restore default settings". Does repair really repair anything? FYI - It stopped crashing ever since i moved a large spreadsheet he has open to his local HDD instead of over the network. This spreadsheet "refreshes" constantly as it is pulling live data to update cells and I suspect it was auto-saving so frequently that it caused crashes if saving over the network. At times, his right click completely fails to respond. His left click works fine but he can't right click on anything in any Window and even on the desktop. Sometimes, he needs to start to close certain applications such as Adobe and the right click will start functioning again. I removed Adobe and installed FoxIt as I figured it was a resource issue but I do not think so as he does have sufficient resources when the problem is happening. Sometimes he can't bring task manager up until he kills certain apps. Definitely sounds like a resource issue but I am not confident that is the root cause. Also not sure if this is related to one of the apps installed but his Start bar flickers (does not completely disappear) intermittently from time to time. The taskbar icons which are hidden appear and then get hidden again as if it was having "fits". I have performed reg scans, malware scans etc but problems do not go away. I am planning to perform sfc /scannow and office repair but would like to know if anyone has any other suggestions. What about setting a "small" pagefile on C:. I have heard that this is recommended and may be the reason why a minidmp file was not generated when he encountered a blue screen. Also, any feedback on his video cards? Do you think different models would cause problems? The drivers seem to work but he only has 2.5Gb out of 4Gb available RAM as I believe the video card chomped up a portion of this. I have recommended creating a new profile for him but due to the amount of customisations he has and the amount of time and effort it will take to get him up and running again, he prefers to bear with the problem than to go down that path. However, at least once a week, his PC acts up and I can't think of any other tools or techniques to rectify his problems. I guess we are at a stage where we just want to "stabilize" things so he won't encounter issues that frequently. Any feedback is very much appreciated.

So ideally what I have done is, I've added a widget first, then when we click on "+New Task" a new activity opens up from where we can type in a new task and it should get updated in the ListView inside the home screen widget. Problem: Now whenever I add a new task, the ListView does not get updated. The data gets inside the database a new is created as well. My onUpdate(...) method gets called as well. There is a WidgetService.java which is a RemoteViewService that is being used to call the RemoteViewFactory but WidgetService.java gets called only when we create the widget, never after that. WidgetService.java never gets called again.   Hello, I am unable to render Chinese characters in IE 8. I have researched this and I am aware of the meta tag to force compatibility mode. I am also aware of the language pack you can install. Finally I have seen that Microsoft actually forces IE7 compatibility mode on their Chinese website. http://www.microsoft.com/zh/cn/default.aspx I am wondering if anyone has any alternatives solutions to this problem. None them seem that appealing to me. I am using utf8 as my encoding and this problem only occurs in IE8. Thanks

For my application, there is one document (Microsoft word), and this document is reviewed by several people in the "Track changes" mode, so the input to my application is the original document and the reviewed documents with changes (like insert/delete/comments). By this link , I know how to extract all the changes from the reviewed documents. what i want is to combine all the changes from all the reviewed documents into ONE document, and make all the changes "accepted", so the output of my application is one modified Microsoft document with all the changes (delete/insert/comment) accepted.   Hi, I'm developing an application that will most likely be preinstalled on devices. It will be also available on Market. Is there a way to update those instances that are not downloaded through Market, since Market won't notify users about an update. I was thinking about, as suggested here, trying to contact my site periodically, and when update is available, download it. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this update automatically, so that user doesn't have to do anything (like running the package manually). Or, when my site shows update is available, to offer users an update through Market, even though it's not installed through Market. Thanks!

• Save information from MS crash reporter?

  On Windows XP when a process crashes, we get a dialog box with a link: "To view technical information about the error report, click here." The "click here" link brings up a whole lot of information in a window, but no obvious way to save it to a file. Is there a way? It would be very nice to be able to send that data to several different external vendors we're working with. The only other option I see in the dialog box is to send it to Microsoft, but this crash is likely not Microsoft's fault and there is no reason to send it to them.

records... i am not able to find any solution /control using which i an do it easily. coz my field's value is in attribute named "Value" when in the examples i saw its between opening and closing tag.. i have 2 methods to do so. 1 . i make one page to edit a single record and pass id of record to that page on editing. open the page in iframe on same page to edit and in page_load get data from database for id passed and fill it in control. 2 . i store xml on server as physical file and use it in page i opened in iframe to edit the record. so i am confused... can anybody please guide me that what shpould i do to let user provide interface to edit this xml data/user profile ?
