  • pushd - handling multiple drives from cmd

    I'm trying to figure out how to install some programs where the components reside on two different drives on a networked path. However whenever I use pushd \\xyz\c$ I get a mapped drive which means I cannot use any knowledge of using for example c:\install e:\mycomponents.dll. Is there anyway that I can do this once I have used the pushd command? How can I ensure that I keep the drives the same for example. I'm in the process of installing services. So it seems that when I install the service, I need to keep the path as the same as the actual location of the .exe which means that I'm running into issues. Is there a way to simply use pushd but at the sametime not actually map drives? As when installing services, when I've been using net use, I've found that there is an issue with installing on drives which are mapped, as the service whilst can be installed doesn't find the actual .exe when it comes to starting up the service. So to expand this, is there a way to solve this using net use or pushd or a combination that lets me install a service as such: c:\windows\..\installutil e:\mynode? So to clarify, I need to somehow be able to see both drives on the remote machine by their relative drives i.e. E:\ and C:\ - if I use a mapped drive letter then it means installing service is a pain because I cannot use the path.

    I'm working on a menu system that takes a url and then queries the db to build the menu. So for a url like: http://example.com/folder1/folder2/filename Alias would potentially = "filename", "folder1", "folder2" Parent = the node_id of the parent folder. What I know is how to split the url up into an array and check the alias for a match to each part. What I don't know is how to have it then filter by parent whose alias matches "folder2" and whose parent alias matches "folder1". I'm imagining a query like so: select * from menu where alias='filename' and where parent = node_id where alias='folder2' and parent = node_id where alias='folder1' Except I know that the above is wrong. I'm hoping this can be done in a single query. Thanks for any help in advance!

This project is composed by: Client project: Windows Forms where user will do CRUD operations on the models; Server project; Common Project: This project will hold the models (in the image only have the model Item); ListSingleton: Remote Object that will do the operations on the models; I already have all the communication working, but now I need to work on the persistence of the data in a mysql database. I was trying to use nHibernate but I’m having some troubles. My main problem is how to organize my hibernate configuration. In which project do I keep the mapping? Common project? In which project do I keep the hibernate configuration file (App.config)? ListSingleton project?     I'm playing around with sockets in C/Python and I wonder what is the most efficient way to send headers from a Python dictionary to the client socket. My ideas: use a send call for every header. Pros: No memory allocation needed. Cons: many send calls -- probably error prone; error management should be rather complicated use a buffer. Pros: one send call, error checking a lot easier. Cons: Need a buffer :-) malloc/realloc should be rather slow and using a (too) big buffer to avoid realloc calls wastes memory. Any tips for me? Thanks :-)

    I'm using sql server management studio 2008 to try and generate an alter script for each of my stored procedures in order to save the scripts for each revision. I can easily generate an alter script for each individual procedure, but I'm not trying to go through a hundred stored procedures manually. I know that SSMS has an automated generate scripts function under task, but the only options are create, drop and create, and drop. I cant seem to figure out how to enable alter. I've already searched through many SO articles, as well as a little digging in msdn, and I've come up with nothing. I'm hoping that the fine people of stackoverflow will be up to the challenge.   • NHibernate / multiple sessions and nested objects

    We are using NHibernate in a rich client application. It is a pretty open application (the user searches for a dataset or creates a new one, changes the data and saves the data set. We leave the session open, because sometimes we have to lazy load some properties of the object (nested object structure). This means one big problem if we leave the session open, the db (MySQL) closes the connection and we are not able to find this out and it throws an exception (socket communication error) when accessing the database (we are thinking about testing the db connection before accessing the object - but this is not really optimal neither, the other option would be to set back the timeout of the db connection , but this just doesn't seem to well). So - is it possible to reconnect the session to a new database connection ? Another problem is it possible to get an object from one session and then re-attach it to another session ? (I often hear that session.lock should work for this - but this doesn't work so well in our application - so I ended up getting a "fresh" object from the session and copy the data over manually - which is a little bit cumbersome) Any ideas for this ?

  • Swing: does DefaultBoundedRangeModel coalesce multiple events?

    I have a JProgressBar displaying a BoundedRangeModel which is extremely fine grained and I was concerned that updating it too often would slow down my computer. So I wrote a quick test program (see below) which has a 10Hz timer but each timer tick makes 10,000 calls to microtick() which in turn increments the BoundedRangeModel. Yet it seems to play nicely with a JProgressBar; my CPU is not working hard to run the program. How does JProgressBar or DefaultBoundedRangeModel do this?   • Showing multiple models in a single ListView

    I've three models (Contacts, Notes, Reminders). I want to search all these and produce the filtered result in a single listview and depending upon the selection I've to display the corresponding view(UserControl) to its right. I want the right way of implementing the design or atleast alternatives to this method that I've tried. Now I've tried it using a IntegratedViewModel having all the properties from all the three models. public class IntegratedViewModel { ContactModel _contactModel; NoteModel _noteModel; public IntegratedViewModel(ContactModel contactModel) { _contactModel = contactModel; } // similarly for other models also public string DisplayTitle // For displaying in ListView { get; //same as set set { If(_contactModel != null) return _contactModel.Name; If(_noteModel != null) return _noteModel.Title; } } // All other properties from the three models includin the Name/Title properties for displaying them in the corresponding views(UserControl) } Now I set the itemsSource as the List<IntegratedViewModel>. I've to now bind the visibility of the views to some properties in the MainViewModel.     I'm trying to append more than one Google Map to a page. But it seems like I'm having some trouble. I tried to append it to all of the id's in other ways but with the same results. So what would you suggest me to do to make it work as I would expect it, append the map to each of the id's ?

  • Click-Once deployment is leaving multiple versions (yes, more than 2)

    I've got a click once application that is leaving all old versions on my disk. It's an internal corporate application that gets frequent updates, so this is a disaster for rapidly inflating our backup size. According to the docs and other SO questions, it is supposed to only leave the current and previous versions on disk. However, each time I deploy the project and upgrade a client, I get another copy of all exe/dll/data files. I'm making no changes whatsoever to the application, just pushing deploy again in Visual Studio. Any ideas? Updates: The problem seems to happen on both Windows 7 and XP. 64 bit windows and 32. I've done a diff of the folders where the version is installed and the following files are different: MyApp.exe.manifest MyApp.exe.cdf-ms MyDll1.cdf-ms MyDll2.cdf-ms No actual executable files are different, nor the MyApp.manifest, MyDll1.manifest, etc.

It is important that both definitions are named "Element", because I have an application needing that both elements are named the same way.     In my previous question I could add a design time panel to a tab page at run time and my code looks like this and it works Ok. tabControl1.SuspendLayout(); tabControl1.TabPages[0].Controls.Add(panel1); tabControl1.ResumeLayout(); but now I need to do something like this: tabControl1.SuspendLayout(); tabControl1.TabPages[0].Controls.Add(panel1); tabControl1.TabPages[1].Controls.Add(panel1); tabControl1.TabPages[2].Controls.Add(panel1); tabControl1.ResumeLayout(); which just at run-time I can know how many of these Tabpages I will need. but now for testing I am assuming I will have three tabPages the Problem is that the panel only gets added to the Last tabPage, How can I fix this? I want it get added to all of the tab pages Thanks.

Here is one of my rows: new Software { Title = "Microsoft Office", Version = "2012", SerialNumber = "12346231434543", Platform = "PC", Notes = "Macs really rock!", PurchaseDate = "2011-12-04", Suite = true, SubscriptionEndDate = null, SeatCount = 0, SoftwareTypes = new List<SoftwareType> { new SoftwareType { Type="Suite" }}, Locations = new List<Location> { new Location { LocationName = "Paradise" }}, Publishers = new List<SoftwarePublisher> { new SoftwarePublisher { Publisher = "Microsoft" }}} But when I do this, a new row is created for each location, with the LocationName being set in each row like this. We only have two locations. How do I get it to create a LocationID property for the Software class and in my Locations class. Here is my Location class: public class Location { public int Id { get; set; } [Required] [StringLength(20)] public string LocationName { get; set; } public virtual Software Software { get; set; } } I have this line in my Software class to reference this table: public virtual List<Location> Locations { get; set; } Again, what I want when I am done is a Locations table with two entries, and a LocationID field in my Software table. How do I do this?

    Per section 2.2 of rails guide on Active Record query interface here: which seems to indicate that I can pass a string specifying the condition(s), then an array of values that should be substituted at some point while the arel is being built. So I've got a statement that generates my conditions string, which can be a varying number of attributes chained together with either AND or OR between them, and I pass in an array as the second arg to the where method, and I get: ActiveRecord::PreparedStatementInvalid: wrong number of bind variables (1 for 5) which leads me to believe I'm doing this incorrectly. However, I'm not finding anything on how to do it correctly. To restate the problem another way, I need to pass in a string to the where method such as "table.attribute = ? AND table.attribute1 = ? OR table.attribute1 = ?" with an unknown number of these conditions anded or ored together, and then pass something, what I thought would be an array as the second argument that would be used to substitute the values in the first argument conditions string. Is this the correct approach, or, I'm just missing some other huge concept somewhere and I'm coming at this all wrong? I'd think that somehow, this has to be possible, short of just generating a raw sql string.

    main thread-- start workthread--StartStage(get list of positions for data process) -- move to one position -- data sampling*strong text*-- data collection--data analysis------data sampling*strong text* basically, work thread does the data sampling*strong text*-- data collection--data analysis------data sampling*strong text* loop for one positioin until press stop or target is obtained. my questions: After work thread finishs the loop for one positioin, it would end itself. now how to make the work thread moves to the next position to do the data process loop after work thread finish one position work, would not end itself until data process for all the positions are done?
