    Figured it out! No need to create a fake Java file, unlike what I said in part 1, no need to depend on all the Java Editor modules, if you use DialogBinding.bindComponentToDocument, instead of DialogBinding.bindComponentToFile: public final class CountryEditorTopComponent extends TopComponent {     public CountryEditorTopComponent() {         initComponents();         setName(Bundle.CTL_CountryEditorTopComponent());         setToolTipText(Bundle.HINT_CountryEditorTopComponent());         EditorKit kit = CloneableEditorSupport.getEditorKit("text/plain");         jEditorPane1.setEditorKit(kit);         DialogBinding.bindComponentToDocument(jEditorPane1.getDocument(), 0, 0, jEditorPane1);         jEditorPane1.setText("Egypt");     } The above requires a dependency on Editor Library 2, which is where DialogBinding is found. Aside from that, you need all the dependencies required by the Code Completion API, as described in the Code Completion tutorial on the NetBeans Platform Learning Trail. Once you've done that, go to the Project Properties dialog of the application and then in the "ide" cluster, include "Plain Editor" and "Plain Editor Library". I.e., two additional JARs only. These two are needed because you've set the MIME type to "text/plain", which is needed because DialogBinding expects the JEditorPane to have a MIME type. And now everything works. Press Ctrl-Space in your JEditorPane and, because your CompletionProvider is registered in "text/x-dialog-binding" (via the annotation on CompletionProvider), your completion items are displayed. (The only MIME type for binding a document to a component, by default, is "text/x-dialog-binding", which means the next step is for someone to figure out how to support multiple different of such MIME types, since each JEditorPane in your application is likely to require its own specific code completion support.) I think this is a really workable solution for real scenarios where JEditorPanes in NetBeans Platform applications require code completion.

  • Installed SQL Server 2008 and now TFS is broken.

    Hi, My W2K3 server was running TFS 2008 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Development edition. I installed SQL Server 2008 Standard. I installed it while leaving SQL Server 2005 alone. Upgrading was not possible due to the differences in editions of the SQL Servers. Now TFS is broken. On a client computer, if I go Team - Connect to Team Foundation Server, I get this error: Team Foundation services are not available from server myserver. Technical information (for administrator): TF30059: Fatal error while initializing web service. So I head on over to my event viewer on the server. Under Application, I see one warning and two errors.   • Good bug tracking with Sharepoint?

    At my place of work, it has been decided to move many processes to Sharepoint. I'm now looking into how Sharepoint can be used for bug tracking (à la Mantis, FogBugz etc. but within Sharepoint). Specifically, we're using a collaboration room and the solution must work inside that. I know that I can create lists using an "Issue tracker" template, but it lacks workflow, integrated correspondence (like FogBugz), and audit log (any user can edit any field any time, without it being noted anywhere). That's not sufficient, so I am looking for "bigger" solutions but haven't yet found anything at all. This question is similar but aims at Helpdesk use; we aim at bug tracking and change requests to a system. I'm open to suggestions! As I'm not an administrator, I can't just grab a Sharepoint component and install it for testing. I'm looking for experiences, documentation, white papers, screen shots -- the actual downloadable will be relevant later. Ideally, some of these matters should be covered: Support for different ticket types (bug, feature, inquiry, internal task). Configurable workflow per ticket type, no fixed number of steps. Configurable read/write permissions per field and per workflow status. Configurable dashboard for managers with nice charts. Configurable email notifications. Correspondence à la FogBugz.     We have several Windows 2003 servers with print services for Unix on them, and which allow Linux machines running CUPS to use printers defined to CUPS with the URI lpd://printer_server/printer_queue_name - they work. An attempt to provide different printers on a different Windows 2003 server with print services for Unix newly enabled causes CUPS to behave like this: a newly defined printer will be in state "Idle". An attempt to print causes CUPS to change the printer state to "Disabled". In /var/log/cups/error_log, the relevant messages appear to be D [01/Dec/2012:06:14:18 -0800] [Job 16] lpd_command 02 hp775cm_ps D [01/Dec/2012:06:14:18 -0800] [Job 16] Sending command string (16 bytes)... I don't think it is Windows firewall, since nmap sees the lpd port (515) open on the server. telnet to the server at port 515 declares Connected to server.internal.example.com (10.22.33.44). Escape character is '^]' Connection closed by foreign host. Windows clients successfully print to the CIFS/SMB share of the hp755cm_ps printer. What other reasons are there for Windows to refuse an lpd request?

    I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pa 1538 laptops and installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it (Kernel 2.6.32). Main problem is that the fans of the notebook are always on even when the temperature is low. Another problem is that the display brightness can not be adjusted. Since some years I use Dell laptops and never experienced any ACPI problems so I thought that it is no longer needed to fix ACPI tables but now I have this crap of a laptop and I think I have to do it.   • Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2, and Registry Backups

    Hi folks! As a developer, I've installed various instances of SQL Sever (2000, 2005, 2008, R2) from all the ways back to 2003 and I've never had an install fail on me....until yesterday. I was installing SQL Server 2008 R2 onto a Windows Server 2008 R2 hosted virtual server and the install finished, but failed on every component. To make matters worse, it was in a state in which I could not uninstall it either, even using command line options! I dug around a bit, but didn't get very far with it. The error is enigmatic and Google didn't turn up much hope. So today, I am going to try again after having the VM image wiped overnight. My question is how can I guard against the same failure today? I don't mind if it fails, but then I know it may be something wrong with the base image I'm getting from the hosting company. I really don't feel like paying another $20 to wipe the VM and I have no idea why it failed. Is it enough for me to backup the registry so that I can restore it in case it fails? What about the installation files? Do I need to have a tool to clean that out, too? Sorry, I'm no sys admin so no real experience with backup/restore aside from System Restore!   • XP machines on Domain not reporting WMI Data in a 2003 Server Environment

    I am running into a very quirky issue and I hope someone out there can help. We use a monitoring program for several networks we oversee that is WMI data dependent for a great deal of it's functionality. The Windows 2000 Professional workstations, as well as the 2003 servers in our network report WMI data fine, the Windows XP professional machines will not let me view them from within the WMI snap in for MMC (they return a Win32: Access Denied) error. I am of course logged in with an account with domain admin privileges on the domain controller when I attempt it. DCOM is enabled in component services, and the remote security option is set to allow as well. If we remove the machine from the domain and rejoin it, some workstations will show up as WMI enabled temporarily and then when I try to access them again later I get the access denied error again out of the blue. Hoping someone out there has had a similar problem or they have advice. I have had this problem with the firewall turned on or off. Thanks for your time! -Az

  • Disable raid member check upon mount to mount damaged nvidia raid1 member

    Hi, A friend of mine destroyed his Nvidia RAID1 array somehow and in trying to fix it, he ended up with a non-working array. Because of the RAID metadata, the actual disk data was stored at an offset from the beginning. I was able to identify this offset with dd and a hexeditor and then I used losetup to create a loop device with the proper offset, so that I could mount the partition. It was then that I ran into problems, namely that mount says: "mount: unknown filesystem type 'nvidia_raid_member'". I also had this when trying to mount a Linux MD component the other day, and because I can remember that doing that in the past worked, I surmised that it may be some kind of protection. I therefore booted an old Sysrescue CD and tried it there, which worked (because of the older version of mount/libc/kernel/whatever). I still need to try to get more data, and because I don't want to keep using that SysrecueCD, I'd like to be able to mount the disk on my normal system. So, my question is: can the check for a disk being a raid member be disabled? I guess I could also zero out blocks that look like the raid block, but I'd rather not... I made an image of the disk with par2 data, so it's revertable, but still...

  • TS (RD) Gateway Authentication Problem "The logon attempt failed"

    I've been using TS Gateway to permit remote access for our staff for a few months now, and all has been well. Users either connect to a traditional terminal server desktop or hit our website and start an TS RemoteApp application- in both cases the connection is routed through a TS Gateway. However I came into work this morning to find that has stopped authenticating users through TS Gateway, each time returning "The logon attempt failed" as seen in the image even though the credentials are correct. It should be noted that everything works fine if the Gateway is taken out of the equation, it's the TS Gateway component that is causing these problems. Users experience this problem whether they connect through XP SP3, Vista or 7. On the server a total of 4 entries appear in the Windows security log at exactly the same time for each failed logon attempt: two 4624 "An account was successfully logged on" messages for the user, immediately followed by two 4634 "An account was logged off"s. This suggests that the server is accepting the credentials as correct, then booting the user off. Nothing at all is recorded in the NPS and Terminal Server logs. A reboot doesn't change things. Neither does completely removing and reinstalling the NPS and Terminal Server roles. I'm baffled as to how this can happen suddenly without warning. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a web project(.Net4) that needs to access Excel file, but it ends up with the following error message: Error occured during file generation.Microsoft Excel cannot access the file 'D:\xx\xx\abc.xls'. There are several possible reasons: • The file name or path does not exist. (Actually it's there) • The file is being used by another program.(It cant happen) • The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook. In IIS7, I use DefaultAppPool with the Identity "myservice" who's under the Group of Administrators. In the Authentication Page of my website under IIS, Anonymous Authentication was enabled and set to "Application pool identity" and ASP.NET Impersonation was disabled. After searching the solution for hours, I found the following but NONE of them work Create folder in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop. Plz refer:this Grant rights of "myservice" in Component Services. Plz refer:this One thing strange, there is nothing in the Group of IIS_IUSRS. Is that normal? Cause I remember at least two users (DefaultAppPool & Classic .Net AppPool). Plz tell me how to fix the access problem. I assume that's permission problem of IIS but I cant solve it. Thank you.

  • Office Communicator and cannot sync Address book error

    We are trying to get OCS 2007 R2 up and running. The clients login fine, but when I let it sit for a while, we still get the address book sync error message of: "Cannot synchronize with the corporate address book. This may be because the proxy server setting in your web browser does not allow access to the address book. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator". When I try and download the file locally, this error comes up: Could not load file or assembly 'ABServerHttpHandler, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant minimum permission requests. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131417) I googled and came across this post (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ocsaddressbook/thread/c28ff2d8-66a4-456c-a5ad-e445a667e8ed) which suggests removing and reinstalling .NET 2.0 but that didn't seem to resolve the issue either. When we run abserver.exe -validateDB it works properly. We even tried the suggestion from Greg's Blog (http://blogs.technet.com/greganth/archive/2009/03/11/office-communicator-notifications-cannot-synchronize-address-book.aspx) about restarting the web component services but that didn't work either. Still seeing the same issue. So does anyone have an idea of where we go from here?

  • Moving from WDS to MDT + WDS - Prestaged Computer Name

    We previously used just WDS to deploy our images. WDS was setup to request approval for new machines. We used the "Name and Approve" option to name the machines as we added them. If it was pre-existing, it would just use the existing computer name from AD. Then in our unattend.xml file we had Computername=%MACHINENAME%. This picked up the name we gave it during approval and set the computer name accordingly. We are now implementing MDT to manage our images and drivers. But upon testing, we noticed it would assign random computer names. I went into the Unattend.xml for the deploy task sequence and added that value under Specialize amd64_Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup_neutral Computername=%MACHINENAME%. But when we try applying the image, it errors out at that point of the install. How can an MDT deployment be configured to leverage the pre-staged name? Some additional info: Error message during the imaging process: Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]. The settings specified in the answer file cannot be applied.     recently i upgrade my machine with new hardware component. my mother board is Gigabyte, processor Intel i3 3.6 ghz, ram 4 gb, graphics card ATI radeon 4350 1 GB. my OS installed is windows XP. when i am trying to play call of duty black ops then screen gets freeze and when i try to play other game like medal of honour then suddenly game closed suddenly after 15 or 20 minutes. i am not being able to find out the problem. whether i have problem in RAM or Graphics card. i asked few hardware person and one of them told me that i should installed windows 7 rather than windows xp. is it true. please help me to understand the problem and also tell me what should i do to fix this problem. please discuss in detail. thanks in advance.   • laptop motherboard "shorts" when connected to adapter

    Disclaimer: I'm sort of a noob, and this is a long post. Thank you all in advance! summary: completely dead laptop with no signs of life whatsoever (suddenly, for no apparent reason) Here's the deal: Lenovo Y470 (only a few months old with no water or shock damage). It stopped working suddenly (no lights, no sound, even when connecting adapter with or without battery). I tried a different adapter (same electrical rating), but no luck. I disassembled the thing completely, and tried plugging in the adapter and looking for signs of life with all different combinations of components installed (tried all combinations of RAM, CPU, USB power cords, screen, etc plugged in). no luck. Then, I noticed (as I was plugging in the adapter to try for the millionth time) that there was a "spark" for an instant when I first connect the adapter to the power jack. The adapter's LED would then flash (indicating it isn't working or charging). So, I thought the power jack has a short of some sort (due to bad soldering or something). Scanned virtually every single component on the motherboard, and tested the power jack connections with a multimeter. No shorts or damage to anything on the entire motherboard. Now I'm thinking I need to replace the motherboard. But, my actual question: What does this "shorting" when connecting the adapter signify? (btw, the voltage across the power connections and current through it drop to virtually zero when the adapter is connected and "sparks", and they stay that way). The bewildering thing is that there are no damaged components, and the voltage across adapter terminals returns to normal after I disconnect it (so it's not damaged). Please take a look at the pictures (of the motherboard's power connection and nearby components) and see if I'm missing something completely obvious...   • Dell Studio 17 - turning off suddenly

    I have a Dell Studio 17 laptop, a refurbished model almost 2 years old...It is currently running Windows 7 32-bit, Home Premium. Via a clean install, it is a Vista upgrade machine...A while back, a problem started to develop while running Vista that it would suddenly just turn off. No warnings, messages, anything. It was like I had the battery out, then just unplugged it from the wall. Just like that. Over several months of this happening (or more), I've observed several things...First, it only seems to happen when I'm doing memory-intensive things, such as watching a online video full screen or running many applications in the background...Second, I can tell when it is about to "flip" as I've termed it, when the fan starts running...the computer gets really hot in places... Anyways, I'm pretty sure this is a hardware problem, because it still exists, even after a Vista-to-7 Upgrade...Is this true? Hardware vs. software? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Is it just a specific component or what? What do you recommend? Thanks!!

  • New SSD freezing on older motherboard (intel G31)

    I have an ECS G31T-M motherboard running a Core2 Quad processor, 4gb RAM, Windows 7 32bit, Geforce 9600GT. Bought a Sandisk Extreme III 120GB (SDSSDX-120G-G25) and installed today. I'm outputting this from my 9600GT with included TV-out adapter to Component video (to my HDTV). This motherboard is SATA 2 and from what I can tell, SSDs run on the IDE controller and there is nothing fancy to set up advanced features of SSDs. I've noticed on other forums (but not verifying with ECS) this board does not support AHCI. I have two versions of Windows 7 installed on two drives, the SSD and an old 500G disc drive. When booted from my older 500G HDD, video plays fine on the HDTV. When booting the SSD windows 7 install, I am freezing constantly, as in, video plays OK for a minute, then picture freezes for 1-3 minutes (sometimes as audio continues playing) and returns for 20-30 seconds before doing the same thing again. Other tasks such as basic maneuvering through file folders seems to be no problem. Please help!! Do I need a new system for this thing to work, or could there be other fixes? I updated firmware to R201 to no avail. DJM

  • SQL 2000 Backup/Export Process - Can't find SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager, Can't use Mgmt Studio Expre

    I need to make a backup of a client's SQL 2000 database, however there are a few issues preventing me from doing so using the traditional methods. I've tried using SQL Management Studio Express, but the host doesn't give sufficient privileges to create a backup and I'm getting some strange error messages. I've also tried doing the "Generate Scripts" to recreate the schema, then using the DTS Wizard to migrate the data, but the IDs set up with the identity specification property are not consistent with the live database once copied over. This results in some foreign key breakage... If I remember correctly, I was able to use Microsoft SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager to perform the task before, but I can't find this anywhere... it seems Microsoft has pulled most SQL Server 2000 stuff from their site. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of Enterprise Manager (or a trial of SQL Server 2000, which I believe comes with the component)? Or conversely, does anyone know of any other tools (preferably non-commercial) that are capable of mirroring remote SQL Server 2000 DBs? Thanks!

  • Why does ATI 5570 HD video card driver installation cause Windows 7 To Blue Screen?

    This one is for the hive mind. I have a brand new Dell Optiplex 760 workstation with 4 gigabytes of RAM running Windows 7 Professional (32bit). This is a new box with nothing installed other than what was provided for directly by Dell. I installed a Saphire ATI PCI Express 5570 HD. Upon trying to install the 10.4 Catalyst drivers the system will blue screen. It blue screens during the hardware detection phase of the installation process. I have already performed the following trouble shooting steps: Changed system RAM Installed only 2 gigabytes of RAM Installed different versions of Catalyst drivers (10.4 - 9.12) Tried to install video only component of driver (vs entire Catalyst suite) Made sure Windows 7 was fully updated Flashed mother board BIOS to current version Removed and re-seated video card Contacted ATI Support (We all know how this went......) Verified supply outputting properly The blue screen error (via Windows BugCheck entry in event log) is a 0x000000CA and refers to a plug and play error most likely caused by a bad driver. The problem is that the driver installation process never gets far enough to actually install a driver. The resolution center in Windows provides a solution of installing the 10.4 Catalyst driver to resolve issue (which fails). Looking for some alternate views to resolve.

  • Apple video adapters: Mini-DVI to DVI + DVI to video?

    I have: a Macbook (which has Mini-DVI output) an Apple Mini-DVI to DVI adapter (so I can hook up my Macbook to my DVI LCD) a Mac mini (which has DVI output) I see that I can get a DVI-to-Video (s-video and composite) adapter from Apple that will let me hook up my Mac mini to my TV set (which has only component, s-video, and composite -- nothing digital). So far so good. Question: Will that same adapter also let me hook my Macbook to my TV? That is, can I hook Macbook - Mini-DVI to DVI - DVI to video - TV set, and see picture? I know there are digital/analog/integrated variants of DVI, and it's not at all clear to me what pins these things have and what signals they're sending. One website I found suggested that it would work, and another suggested that it wouldn't even physically connect. So I'm looking for, ideally, someone who's actually tried it, or has these adapters sitting around to try. I know I can buy 2 adapters (Mini-DVI to Video, and DVI to Video) to do this, but at $20 a pop I'll avoid that if at all possible.

  • Laptop GPU apparently blew up, motherboard doesn't even turn on its power LED. [But..]

    EDIT: (Was: Laptop automatic shutdown after 2 seconds) If I take out the GPU, the motherboard LED turns on but then [if it attempts to power up and boot] it turns off after 2 seconds [fans turn on normally in that short period]. [Without the GPUs out there's not even an attempt to boot.] It's an SLI motherboard for a toshiba (model X200-219). If I take out one of the GPUs (they are on top of each other) it surprisingly lets the motherboard turn on too (as it is if both are out) but it still turns off after 2-3 seconds, same behavior. I wonder if it's the GPU that produces the 'turn off after being on' behavior and not something else. [Has anyone seen this behavior with blown up GPUs or could it be something else?] Previous question (before EDIT. Sorry, but someone thought it productive to lock the other one as duplicate): I'm trying to insvestigate which component produces this behavior. Other indications show it may be the GPU but I wonder if anyone knows more. It's a Toshiba Satellite X200 description: AC power shows the power being fed normally, when turned on the fan works and it appears to be starting up but after 2 seconds it shuts down with only the 'AC power connected" led on. -- seconds are about up to 4,maybe not 2 exactly.

  • Encoding over SSH Issues

    I have a Linux machine and a Windows machine, both using Vim with the Powerline plugin. They both work great with patched fonts. Next, I want to SSH onto an OSX 10.6 machine and also use the Powerline in the terminal with Vim. However, I get weird symbols with normal mode ("^^B" in one area) and fancy mode ("~@" and "~B" spread throughout the bar. I thought this mixup was an encoding issue, but when I look at Putty's encoding it is using UTF-8 and the same with the Ubuntu terminal. Additionally, on the OSX machine, "locale" returns "en_US.UTF-8" for all variables (I set it to do that in order to troubleshoot). However, the symbols are still showing. I am using a patched font (Inconsolata, the same one as the Ubuntu terminal) for the OSX terminal, so I am stumped. Is there a missing component to this equation? Are there additional problems that can arise from SSH encoding? On the OSX end, additionally, these same symbols appear, so it may not even be related to SSH and therefore I'm totally lost.
