  • Updating Python on Ubuntu system

    I want to update the Python build on my Linux box, but the only way I know how to do it is uninstalling the current version and installing the new one. My system is already up to date (I updated yesterday). I wanted to know if there is a way to update a specific program from the command line, like sudo apt-get update <program-name>. I know this command doesn't exist, but I'm hoping something equivalent does.

    We have XML like so: <Example> <Node>Some text here <ChildNode>Child 1</ChildNode> <ChildNode>Child 2</ChildNode> </Node> </Example> We are using XmlDocument to parse this. When we have the XmlNode of the Node element, XmlNode.InnerText returns us this: "Some text hereChild 1Child2" How can we get the inner text of the Node element without the child nodes' inner text? We don't really want to use any Regex or string splitting to accomplish this. Note: We also don't want to switch to using a different set of classes to parse this XML, it would be too much of a code change.

    As a simple example, I have an xml file with a list of names of classes which actually carry out the work and all implement interface IDoWork with a method Process(). I loop through the items in the xml file. How do I actually dynamically assign the class to the interface from a string name? e.g. var IDoWork = new "DoWorkType1"(); IDoWork.Process(); <work> <item id="DoWorkType1"> </item> <item id="DoWorkType2"> </item> </work> I want to achieve a plugin type architecture, except the plugin isn't at an assembly level only a class level within my program.

    I am trying to iterate through my xml document's nodes to get the value for <username>Ed</username> in each node. I am using Linq to sort the XDocument first, then attempting to loop through the nodes. I can't seem to find the correct foreach loop to achieve this.   • Javascript to add cdata section on the fly?

    I'm having trouble with special characters that exist in an xml node attribute. To combat this, I'm trying to render the attributes as child nodes and, where necessary, using cdata sections to get around the special characters. The problem is, I can't seem to get the cdata section appended to the node correctly. I'm iterating over the source xml node's attributes and creating new nodes. If the attribute.name = "description" I want to put the attribute.text() in a cdata section and append the new node. For e.g. $authadv_new="insert into test.authad values ('".mysql_real_escape_string($sales->NEW1)."','".mysql_real_escape_string($sales->NEW2)."','".mysql_real_escape_string($sales->NEW3)."','" ... Is there any way to automate this? I mean the PHP code should be able to anticipate the parameters and generate the mysql_real_escape_string($sales-NEW1) to NEW10 values using a loop.

  • ColdFusion Timeout Error

    I have a scheduled task that runs once a day that builds an XML file that I pass off to another group. Recently the amount of data has greatly increased and is now causing the task to time out (I think). I have tried to optimize my script as much as possible but with no luck. It times out long before an hour and I don't get any kind of ColdFusion error. Instead I get a "This page cannot be found" after it runs. Could this be a timeout someplace other than Coldfusion?     This the situation: I have one webservice without SSL, which provides two pages for the other web application. When the user submits these pages, an XML file with private information is sent to the webservice. How can I provide the necessary privacy protection on the XML file? Is the one certificate good enough to give the appropriate security? I'm not sure about this one, and am in the preparation phase of a project... So need to know the involved work on this part...

    Hi, Until now I've been used to using DAOs to retrieve information from databases. Other sources of data are possible though and I'm wondering if and how the pattern could be applied in general. For example, I'm now working on an application that fetches XML on the web. The XML file could be considered as a data source and the actual fetching is similar in principle to a database request. I'm not quite sure how the DAO could be structured though. Any views on the subject are welcome.

    Hi, I'm looking for a solution that'll automatically sync file system changes in "/folder1" to "/folder2". Any change should be synced (deleted files, new folders etc.) without any confirmation. Preferably the changes will happen to "/folder2" instantly. "/folder1" is on my hdd "/folder2" is on a server on the LAN (can be accessed via SSH or NFS) I'm on OS X 10.6.     Hi, I have a XML file with a few concert dates. In my flash/AS3 file, I would like to show only the up coming event, relative to current date. Like this: Event 01: 30-05-2010 Event 02: 02-06-2010 Event 03: 05-06-2010 Today is 28-05-2010, so I need to list Event 01. On 01-06-2010 I need to list Event 02. It should work like this: When a user accesses the site, a single handler would accept his request and then find a suitable XML for it (according to the URL requested) and transform it using its attached XSL file. I want to do this in order to make it easy to update the site using plain XML files (instead of using a full-fledged & expensive CMS system).     I'm porting my iPhone app to android and I'm having a problem with the string files now. The app is a translation tool and users can switch the languages, so all the localized strings are in both languages and they are independent from what locale the OS is running. For iOS version I have different files like de.strings, en.strings and fr.strings and so on. For every target with specified language pair I read the strings from the string tables, e.g. for de-fr I will include de.strings and fr.strings in project and set the name of the string tables in the info-list file and read strings from them. In the end I have one project containing different targets (with different info-list files) and all are well configured. I'm intending to do the same on android platform, but Is only one strings.xml allowed per project? How do I set different build target? How do I specify per target which strings.xml it should read?

  • Passing Large amount of data in PHP.

    I would like to know what is the best way to pass a large amount of XML data from one PHP script to another. I have a script that reads in an XML feed of jobs. I would like to have the script display a list of the job titles as links. When the user clicks a link they would be taken to another page displaying the details for that job. The job details are too large to send in the query string, and it seems poor style to start a session for data that isn't specific to that user. Any ideas?
