    I have two models, Event and Series, where each Event belongs to a Series. Most of the time, an Event's start_time is the same as its Series' default_time. Here's a stripped down version of the models. #models.py class Series(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50) default_time = models.TimeField() class Event(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=50) date = models.DateField() start_time = models.TimeField() series = models.ForeignKey(Series) I use inlines in the admin application, so that I can edit all the Events for a Series at once. If a series has already been created, I want to prepopulate the start_time for each inline Event with the Series' default_time.   • C++ Euler-Problem 14 Program Freezing

    I'm working on Euler Problem 14: http://projecteuler.net/index.php?section=problems&id=14 I figured the best way would be to create a vector of numbers that kept track of how big the series was for that number... for example from 5 there are 6 steps to 1, so if ever reach the number 5 in a series, I know I have 6 steps to go and I have no need to calculate those steps. Can anyone explain to me how I would go about figuring out why it freezes at this number? Is there some way I could modify my algorithim to be better? I realize that I am creating duplicates with the current way I'm doing it: for example, the series of 3 is 3,10,5,16,8,4,2,1. So I already figured out the sizes for 10,5,16,8,4,2,1 but I will duplicate those solutions later. Thanks for your help!

    Recently I was working with data from a generic List<T> and one of my objectives is to get the distinct values that is found in the List. Now what if we only want to get the distinct values for a certain field. For example I want to get the distinct “Make” values such as Samsung, Apple, HTC, Nokia and Sony Ericsson and populate them to a DropDownList control for filtering purposes. I was hoping the the Distinct operator has an overload that can compare values based on the property value like (GetProducts().Distinct(o => o.PropertyToCompare). But unfortunately it doesn’t provide that overload so what I did as a workaround is to use the GroupBy,Select and First LINQ query operators to achieve what I want. Here’s the code to get the distinct values of a certain field. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { DropDownList1.DataSource = GetProducts().GroupBy(o => o.Make).Select(o => o.First()); DropDownList1.DataTextField = "Make"; DropDownList1.DataValueField = "Model"; DropDownList1.DataBind(); } } Running the code will display the following output below:   That’s it!   • MVC: How to Implement Linked Views?

    I'm developing a java application to visualize time series. I need (at least) three linked views, meaning that interaction with one of them updates the others. The views are: A list represents the available and currently selected time series. The selected time series are used as input for subsequent computations. Changing the selection should update the other views. A line chart displays the available and selected time series. Time series should be selectable from here by clicking on them. A bar chart shows aggregated data on time series. When zooming in to a period of time, the line chart should zoom in to the same period (and vice versa). How to implement this nicely, from a software engineering point of view? I.e. I'd like to write reusable and clear, maintainable code. So I thought of the MVC pattern. At first I liked the idea of having the three view components observing my model class and to refresh views upon being notified. But then, it didn't feel right to store view related data in the model. Storing e.g. the time series selection or plot zoom level in the model makes implications about the view which I wouldn't want in a reusable model. On the other hand, having the controllers observe each other results in a lot of dependencies. When adding another view, I'd have to register all other views as observer of the new view and vice versa, passing around many references and introducing dependencies. Maybe another "model" storing only view-related data would be the solution?

    I have system which is equipped with Intel Celeron processor 1.1 GHz s370 with 384 Mb of RAM on Intel d815egew motherboard which supports wake-on-lan function. I want to use such a PC for Internet sharing to the local network. Also this PC is a DHCP+DNS server as well as router/gateway. Based on above I decided to install Lubuntu as it is lightweight system. I installed Lubuntu 10.04.4 LTS from alternate ISO. System has no auto login. System boots and has acceptable performance. Host PC has onboard 4 network adapters: eth0 – ethernet controller which is used for Local Network connections. Has static address 10.0.0.1 eth1 – ethernet controller which is not used and not configured so far, I plan to connect printer here later on. eth2 - ethernet controller which is used to connect to Internet, which we plan to share for the local network wlan0 – wireless controller, it is used in role of access poit for local Network and has address 10.0.0.2 We want to control our gateway remotely. So, we need to be able to power it on remotely. To allow this I’ve done the following things: $ cd /etc/init.d/ made a new file with command $ sudo vim wakeonlanconfig Wrote the following lines to the newly created file, saved and closed it #!/bin/bash ethtool -s eth0 wol g ethtool -s eth2 wol g exit Made the abovementioned file executable $ sudo chmod a+x wakeonlanconfig Then included it into autostart sequence during boot. $ sudo update-rc.d -f wakeonlanconfig defaults after system reboot we will be able to poweron system remotely. Than we need to have a possibility to connect remotely to the host via SSH and VNC. So, I installed following packets with the following commands: $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install openssh-server tightvncserver Add ssh daemon into autostart sequence during boot. $ sudo update-rc.d -f ssh defaults Power off the host PC $ sudo halt Then I went to remote place, send magic paket and powered the Host up. System started... And I connected to the host via Putty from remote system under Windows. Than logged in and run the command to start vnc server. $ tightvncserver -geometry 800x600 -depth 16 :2 VNC server successfully started and I got message like follows. New 'X' desktop is gateway:2 Starting applications specified in /home/dolv/.vnc/xstartup Log file is /home/dolv/.vnc/gateway:2.log Using UltraVNC Viewer programm under windows I connected to the host's vnc server, enterd the password and.... sow only mouse cursor in form of cross on a grey background of 800x600 dots, no desktop. Here is my .vnc/xstartup file #!/bin/sh xrdb $HOME/.Xresources xsetroot -solid grey #x-terminal-emulator -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" & #x-window-manager & # Fix to make GNOME work export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1 /etc/X11/Xsession The Question: What I have to change and where to make LXDE session start automatically after tightvncserver starts?

  • lm-sensors - always returns 32 degrees (celsius) for temperature

    On my VIA EPIA motherboard (using VIA VT8231 ISA bridge), I get strange output for the lm-sensors temperature reading. It always returns 32 degrees (celsius). I have previously had correct output for temperature (my munin graphs show temperatures typically in the range of 50 to 60 degrees. I've tried uninstalling (and purging) the lm-sensors package, have re-run sensors-detect a number of times and rebooted but nothing seems to change the output. I am running Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10). The series of packets goes like this: HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Network.eth0.MACAddress,Properties.System.SerialNumber,DVTelTest,SightLogix.ProdShortName HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Properties.Image.Resolution HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=update&Network.RTSP.ProtViewer=password HTTP/1.1 HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Event HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=ImageSource.I0.Sensor HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) Notice the two GET followed by one response. I though the two gets were going out at the same time but there is no corresponding number of responses. Also when trying to reproduce this pattern as the server if I abort the first GET request the client waits until it times out and starts the request over with out sending any other requests. What is happening here? How can I reproduce it?

Ie... if #4 in group two is selected, then 1-4 of group one are disabled, etc. I know how to disable them individually or as a group, but I'm not sure how to do it in a series of say 1-4: Individually: $("#version_history input[id^=versions_2_3]:radio").attr('disabled',true); or group: $("#version_history input[id^=versions_2]:radio").attr('disabled',true); The inputs are named versions_1_X and versions_2_X, X being some number. 1..2..3.. etc.

  • How can I regress a number series in Excel?

    I'd like to use these data to derive an equation using Excel. 300 13 310 12.6 320 12.2 330 11.8 340 11.4 350 11 360 10.8 370 10.6 380 10.4 As x goes up, y goes down. Seems straightforward. But when I do a polynomial regression on these data, even though the trendline matches the data pretty well, the equation it generates doesn't work. The equation is When I plug in x values to that equation, the numbers go up! So something is pretty wrong here. My steps: place both number series in excel select the second set (13, 12.6 ...) plot a line graph set the first set as the x axis labels select Series1 and add a polynomial (2) trendline, display equation, display R-squared That produces the equation above, with an R^2 value of .9955. But when I use that equation, it doesn't produce those outputs for those inputs. Clearly I'm doing something wrong.

    We host a site with a 2900 series router with 3x 3G-HWIC cards installed. It is hosted with telstra and plugs into our corporate WAN. The card authenticates against radius and advertises a route into the WAN for which subnet it routes for. We have always used the same advertised subnet on each. Telstra have advised us that this could be the cause of some drop out issues whereby some services will work for some people and not for others and are saying effectively that their system will only use one of these at a time even though we can see the interface is online and assigned a WAN IP address. Has anyone out there configured a multi HWIC setup before and if so are they using different subnets for each or the same?

  • Why Windows Media Center (Vista 32-bit) unable to record TV Series?

    I can record individual shows just fine, but trying to setup the recording of a Series throws an error (something like, "unable to schedule, try restarting Media Center", pops up in the bottom right of the screen). Trying to access the "Other Showings" menu causes Media Center to crash ("check for a solution online" dialog comes up). The machine is a fresh reinstall of 32-bit Windows Vista from the HP recovery CDs, plus all Microsoft updates and service packs. Hardware: HP s3220n, AMD X2 5000+, 2GB RAM, 300GB free space on disk. Media Center came bundled. The "Media Center update for Vista" failed to install (it says, not appropriate for my computer). Any ideas? Thanks

I can access B via VNC and via ssh from A, but for C I can't use ssh because C has no IP address at the start. And I assume I can only access C via VNC. I tried something like(on A): iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d $ip-of-A -p tcp --dport 6500 -j DNAT --to-destination $ip-of-B:5900 (I referred to this) But it doesn't work. And I'm reading the man pages of iptables and hope someone could help :)

  • How to rotate attached monitor to notebook of Sony's Z-series?

    Is it possible that Sony is selling a top of the line, hugely expensive computer that does not have the basic ability to rotate an attached monitor? Is it possible that the Z-series simply can't do this? The Windows control panel is missing the normal option for "rotation", as is the Nvidia control panel for "orientation" , no additional rotation software works. Sony sales says they do not know the answer to this. Sony technical supports says that the problem lies with Nvidia, Nvidia technical supports says the problem lies with Sony. Any advice for a fix for this short of returning the computer would be greatly appreciated. Also wondering if this problem is common to computers running Windows 7?

  • How does one dismantle the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 (model 4337)?

    I have a ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 with a spring that is too stiff, causing problems with the connectivity when a computer is docked. I tried to open it so that I can soften the spring, but hit a brick wall. I removed all the screws I could find at the the bottom and the back panel of the docking station, but the bottom part of the plastic case would still not part from the top of the plastic case. I even looked under some of the various stickers for more screws, but found nothing. Can anyone please help with pointers on dismantling this docking station?

    I have a Samsung 6 series LCD TV which can connect to internet by LAN. When I connect my TV to my Windows 7 laptop which get its internet from AS share it, it can connect to the Internet. My TV can connect to YouTube, but in my country this site is filtered. I want to use an antifilter(proxy) program to bypass the filtering. The problem is the TV does not recognize the proxy port or program. How can I configure the TV or the network to use the proxy?
