• 401 error when consuming a Web service with HTTP Basic authentication using CXF

  I'm trying to consume a remote Web service that uses HTTP basic authentication, using Apache CXF, within a JUnit test. The error I am getting is: javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: Failed to access the WSDL at: http://localhost:8080/services/MyService?wsdl. I did have a read of this article and its follow-up, but so far I've had trouble determining how to go about adding the interceptor code without the use of Spring (this is for a JUnit test). How might I go about authenticating against this Web service?

• Cannot parse persistence unit from class path resource

  so I have this problem in running my Spring WS app which implements JPA ( or should implement..) I have a problem with running a WS, it looks like my Spring context can't find file persistence.xml Which i am able to believe because i did not have generated META-INF folder in my template (which is Maven project template with archetype org.springframework.ws) I have created META-INF manually. • Open XML SDK 2.0 - Split table to new power point slide when content flows off current slide

  I have a bunch of data that I need to export from a website to a power point presentation and have been using Open XML SDK 2.0 to perform this task. I have a power point presentation that I am putting through Open XML SDK 2.0 Productivity Tool to generate the template code that I can use to recreate the export. On one of those slides I have a table and the requirement is to add data to that table and break that table across multiple slides if the table exceeds the bottom of the slide. The approach I have taken is to determine the height of the table and if it exceeds the height of the slide, move that new content into the next slide. I have read Bryan and Jones blog on adding repeating data to a power point slide, but my scenario is a little different. They use the following code: A.Table tbl = current.Slide.Descendants<A.Table>().First(); A.TableRow tr = new A.TableRow(); tr.Height = heightInEmu; tr.Append(CreateDrawingCell(imageRel + imageRelId)); tr.Append(CreateTextCell(category)); tr.Append(CreateTextCell(subcategory)); tr.Append(CreateTextCell(model)); tr.Append(CreateTextCell(price.ToString())); tbl.Append(tr); imageRelId++; This won't work for me since they know what height to set the table row to since it will be the height of the image, but when adding in different amounts of text I do not know the height ahead of time so I just set tr.Heightto a default value. The new height meaning the default height I initially set and not the height after a large amount of text has been inserted. It seems the height only gets readjusted when it is opened in power point. I have also tried accessing the height of the largest table cell in the row, but can't seem to find the right property to perform that task. My question is how do you determine the height of a dynamically added table row since it doesn't seem to update the height of the row until it is opened in power point? Any other ways to determine when to split content to another slide while using Open XML SDK 2.0? I'm open to any suggestion on a better approach someone might have taken since there isn't much documentation on this subject.

• Using T4 to generate Configuration classes

  I wanted to try to use T4 to read a web.config and generate all of the appSettings and connectionStrings as properties of a class.  I elected in this template only to output appSettings and connectionStrings but you can see it would be easily adapted for app specific settings, bindings etc.  This allows for quick access to config values as well as removing the potential for typo's when accessing values from the ConfigurationManager. One caveat: a developer would need to remember to run the .tt file after adding an entry to the web.config.  However, one would quickly notice when trying to access the property from the generated class (it wouldn't be there).  Additionally, there are other options as noted here. • Process Power to the People that Create Engagement

  Organizations often speak about their engagement problems as if the problem is the people they are trying to engage - employees,  partners, customers and citizens.  The reality of most engagement problems is that the processes put in place to engage are impersonal, inflexible, unintuitive, and often completely ignorant of the population they are trying to serve. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Delight? How appropriate during this short week of the US Independence Day Holiday that we're focusing on People, Process and Engagement. As we celebrate this holiday in the US and the historic independence we gained (sorry Brits!) - it's interesting to think back to 1776 to the creation of that pivotal document, the Declaration of Independence. What tremendous pressure to create an engaging document and founding experience they must have felt. "On June 11, 1776, in anticipation of the impending vote for independence from Great Britain, the Continental Congress appointed five men — Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston — to write a declaration that would make clear to people everywhere why this break from Great Britain was both necessary and inevitable. The committee then appointed Jefferson to draft a statement. Jefferson produced a "fair copy" of his draft declaration, which became the basic text of his "original Rough draught." The text was first submitted to Adams, then Franklin, and finally to the other two members of the committee. Before the committee submitted the declaration to Congress on June 28, they made forty-seven emendations to the document. During the ensuing congressional debates of July 1-4, 1776, Congress adopted thirty-nine further revisions to the committee draft. (http://www.constitution.org) If anything was an attempt for engaging the hearts and minds of the 13 Colonies at the time, this document certainly succeeded in its mission. ...Their tools at the time were pen and ink and parchment. Although the final document would later be typeset with lead type for a printing press to distribute to the colonies, all of the original drafts were hand written. • Custom Buttons in Android: How to get border/edge/frame when I read the background from xml?

  Hi, Using Android Shapes in xml I have defined a gradient which I use as the background for a button. This all works nice, but there's no edge surrounding the button. I would like it to look similar to the normal Android button but I need more flexibility to control the color and look. The shape is defined as follows: I would expect the border to be set in the xml. Why doesn't "stroke" fix it? Stroke doesn't seem to do anything. I checked the Android Developer spec, but couldn't find the answer there: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/drawable-resource.html I have also looked through all the properties of the Android Button, but as expected there's no such parameter, probably since it's built into the normal Android button. Btw, I checked ImageButton properties too. Can someone please help? I know there's the alternative to make an image with proper edges and use an ImageButton, but there really should be a way to fix this programmatically. Thanks! Anna

  I was plugging away on an open source project this past weekend when I ran into a bit of code that confused me to look up the usage in the C# specification. The code in questions is as follows: internal static class SomeStaticClass { private const int CommonlyUsedValue = 42; internal static string UseCommonlyUsedValue(...) { // some code value = CommonlyUsedValue + ...; return value.ToString(); } } I was caught off guard because this appears to be a non static field being used by a static function which some how compiled just fine in a static class! The specification states (§10.4): A constant-declaration may include a set of attributes (§17), a new modifier (§10.3.4), and a valid combination of the four access modifiers (§10.3.5). The attributes and modifiers apply to all of the members declared by the constant-declaration. Even though constants are considered static members, a constant-declaration neither requires nor allows a static modifier. It is an error for the same modifier to appear multiple times in a constant declaration. So now it makes a little more sense because constants are considered static members, but the rest of the sentence is a bit surprising to me. Why is it that a constant-declaration neither requires nor allows a static modifier? Admittedly I did not know the spec well enough for this to immediately make sense in the first place, but why was the decision made to not force constants to use the static modifier if they are considered constants? Looking at the last sentence in that paragraph, I cannot figure out if it is regarding the previous statement directly and there is some implicit static modifier on constants to begin with, or if it stands on its own as another rule for constants. Can anyone help me clear this up?

The above FOR XML PATH query gives me the result I want, but when dealing with anything other than small amounts of data, can take awhile. I've looked at pivot but most of the examples I have found are aggregating information. I just to combine the child rows and tack them onto the parent. For example, for an order it would need to output: OrderId,Product1,Product2,Product3,etc Thoughts or suggestions? I am using SQL Server 2k5.

  I have an extremely simple web application running in Tomcat using Spring 3.0.1, Hibernate 3.5.1, JPA 2, and Derby. I am defining all of my database connectivity in persistence.xml and merely using Spring for dependency injection. I am using embedded Derby as my database. Everything works correctly when I define the driver and url properties in persistence.xml in the classic Hibernate manner as thus: <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class" value="org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver"/> <property name="hibernate.connection.url" value="jdbc:derby:webdb;create=true"/> The problems occur when I switch my configuration to the JPA2 standardized properties as thus: <property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.driver" value="org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver"/> <property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.url" value="jdbc:derby:webdb;create=true"/> When using the JPA2 property keys, the application bails hard with the following exception: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: The user must supply a JDBC connection Does anyone know why this is failing? NOTE: I have copied the javax... property strings straight from the Hibernate reference documentation, so a typo is extremely unlikely.

• Where in maven project's path should I put configuration files that are not considered resources

  I have a simple java maven project. One of my classes when executing needs to load an xml configuration file from the classpath. I dont want to package such xml file when producing the jar but I want to include a default xml file in a zip assemply under a conf subfolder and I also want this default xml to be available in the unit tests to test against it. As I see it there are 2 possible places of this default xml: src/main/resources/conf/default.xml src/main/conf/default.xml Both solutions demand special pom actions: In solution 1, I get the auto copy to target folder during build which means it is available in testing but I also get it in the produced jar which i dont want. In solution 2, I get the jar as I want it(free of the xml) but I manually have to copy the xml to the target folder to be available for testing. (I dont want to add src's subfolders in test classpath. I think it is bad practice). The question is what is the best solution of the two? If the correct is 2, what is the best way to copy it to target folder? Is there any other solution better and more common than those two? (I also read http://stackoverflow.com/questions/465001/where-should-i-put-application-configuration-files-for-a-maven-project but I would like to know the most "correct solution" from the "convention over configuration" point of view and this link provides some configuration type solutions but not any convention oriented. Maybe there isnt one but I ask anyway. Also the solutions provided include AntRun plugin and appAssembler plugin and I wonder if I could do it with out them.)

• How do I know which Object I clicked?

  Here's the deal: I'm working on a personal portfolio in AS3 and I've run into a problem which I can't seem to find a logical answer to. I want everything (well, most of it) to be editable with an XML file, including my menu. My menu is just a Sprite with some text on it and a Tweener-tween, no big deal. But, I forgot to think of a way how I can determine which menu-item I have clicked. This is in my Main.as private function xmlLoaded(e:Event):void { xml = e.target.xml; menu = new Menu(xml); menu.x = 0; menu.y = stage.stageHeight / 2 - menu.height / 2; addChild(menu); } In Menu.as public function Menu(xml:XML) { for each (var eachMenuItem:XML in xml.menu.item) { menuItem = new MenuItem(eachMenuItem); menuItem.y += yPos; addChild(menuItem); yPos += menuItem.height + 3; } } and in my MenuItem.as, everything works - I have a fancy tween when I hover over it, but when I click a menu-item, I want something to appear ofcourse. How do I know which one I clicked? I've tried with pushing everything in an array, but that didn't work out well (or maybe I'm doing it wrong). Also tried a global counter, but that's not working either because the value will always be amount of items in my XML file. Also tried e.currentTarget in my click-function, but when I trace that, all of them are "Object Sprite".. I need something so I can give each a unique "name"? Thanks in advance!

• How can I store large amount of data from a database to XML (memory problem)?

  First, I had a problem with getting the data from the Database, it took too much memory and failed. I've set -Xmx1500M and I'm using scrolling ResultSet so that was taken care of. Now I need to make an XML from the data, but I can't put it in one file. At the moment, I'm doing it like this: while(rs.next()){ i++; xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t<row>"); xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t\t<ID>" + Util.transformToHTML(rs.getInt("id")) + "</ID>"); xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t\t<JED_ID>" + Util.transformToHTML(rs.getInt("jed_id")) + "</JED_ID>"); xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t\t<IME_PJ>" + Util.transformToHTML(rs.getString("ime_pj")) + "</IME_PJ>"); //etc. xmlStringBuilder.append("\n\t</row>"); if (i%100000 == 0){ //stores the data to a file with the name i.xml storeKBR(xmlStringBuilder.toString(),i); xmlStringBuilder= null; xmlStringBuilder= new StringBuilder(); } and it works; I get 12 100 MB files. Now, what I'd like to do is to do is have all that data in one file (which I then compress) but if just remove the if part, I go out of memory. I thought about trying to write to a file, closing it, then opening, but that wouldn't get me much since I'd have to load the file to memory when I open it. P.S. If there's a better way to release the Builder, do let me know :)
