  Do weights assigned to servers only effect the balance within that particular backend? When implementing weights for the first time, if I give all the servers in a backend the same number, would that be the same as before when there we no weights? How do I calculate just how much traffic I am shiffting by adjust weights by certain amounts.   I used to upgrade my php from 5.3.5-1ubuntu7.11 to 5.3.18-1~dotdeb.0 I got a lot of problems after the upgrading process . My localhost/phpmyadmin displaying the blank screen. apache2 show me a warning message waiting [Sun Nov 04 12:11:21 2012] [warn] The Alias directive in /etc/apache2/conf.d/phpmyadmin.conf at line 3 will probably never match because it overlaps an earlier Alias. most of CMS cant installed and show me this error Required MySQL version for CMS is 5.x but this server has: mysqlnd 5.0.8-dev the Scripts that has been already installed some of there functions doesn’t work i've googled a lot to fix this problems also i ve googled about downgrading the php version from 5.3.18 to 5.3.x but it doesn’t work with me Can you help please Many thanks

• Installed Ubuntu on usb drive, now it's read-only and can't be formatted

  I installed Ubuntu (ubuntu-13.04-desktop-amd64) on a 8 gb pendrive. Because it worked pretty slow, I wanted to change it back to a normal pendrive. But this is what happened. Windows7 can't open the usb drive, can't view files or anything, can't access attributes. When I select to format, it says it can't format it because it is write-protected. Tried the same running from an Ubuntu, and trying from a booted GParted thing. When I view the partitions, they can't be deleted either. What should I do to get it formatted?

  I'm running a certain script that is using a non-root user to do the following... mkdir: cannot create directory `/srv/www/example.com/releases' *** [err :: 12.23.45.789] : Permission denied How would I allow user xyz to have permanent permissions to do so and still keep this web server secure? Also is it possible to make it recursive for all subfolders? I know its probably chmod something but I'm not that linux savy, thanks.

  when I press Ctrl+Alt+F{1..12}, it switches me to other virtual terminal. When I have VNC/rdesktop client (and there it is VMWare/Virtualbox with other Linux) I want to switch virtual terminal remotely, but just pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 switches things locally. VirtualBox/VMWare often provides special means to send Ctrl+Alt+Del, but not Ctrl+Alt+F1. (I already know that I can log in over ssh and chvt)

• Ubuntu server header timeout

  I'm running Ubuntu Linux 12.04.1 Kernel and CPU Linux 3.2.0-30-generic on x86_64. Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31230 @ 3.20GHz, 8 cores I recently came across this problem. I'm using apache2/php latest and when I run $url_headers = @get_headers($url); Inside PHP it would normally take milliseconds to within a second to get the headers. Now recently it can take up to 15 seconds or even timeout. It has worked great for over a year and recently started doing this. I'm not sure how to go about fixing it, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

• Why do I have such high overhead when creating tables in MSSQL7?

  I have an old system running MSSQL7. It takes about 10.5 seconds to create the table below and another 30 seconds to add the index. Is there anything I can do to decrease these times?   Running FC release 12. Im alaways seeing ksoftirqd/x (x being 0-9) at the top of the processlist, with 100% cpu. The server has a bonded 2gbit connection, serving files from an SSD array. Currently its using 1.6gbit. Server load is ~ 1.5 (dual quad core). iowait is non-existent.

  I'm attempting to use the jQuery jFeed plugin for parsing an Atom, GeoRSS feed and I'm running into issues extracting the information I need. For example, I need to extract the summary element and I would like to render the contents in a div on my HTML page. Additionally, I'd like to extract the contents from the georss:point elements and pass them into Google Maps to render them as points on a map. The problem is that it seems jFeed is stripping out the GeoRSS-related information. For example, I can extract the title element without issues, but it seems it doesn't extract the summary or georss:point elements, at all. • Ruby Rails Mongrel Sever failing to serve OXS1.6

  Hi there I'm fairly new to Rails and the Mac, and doing my first deploy... I'm trying to set up my rails app on a brand new Apple mini-server running OXS1.6 (Snow Leopard). It is currently running fine on my new iMac i7 (same OS). I start mongrel with this command: mongrel_rails start -e production -p 3000 -d -a 127.0.0.1 --debug And it starts giving this output in the log/mongrel.log ** Daemonized, any open files are closed. Look at log/mongrel.pid and log/mongrel.log for info. ** Starting Mongrel listening at 127.0.0.1:3000 ** Installing debugging prefixed filters. The difference is that accessing http://127.0.0.1:3000 on my iMac serves up the app's login page. Where as on the mac mini-server accessing the same results in this error 500 text from mongrel: "We're sorry, but something went wrong." It's as if rails is not working. I'm pretty good at figuring things out if I have some log file messages to direct me, but mongrel.log has no error message (the output remains the same as above), and the log/production.log is empty (which makes me think rails has not started?). My gems are all the same versions between machines and so is the app code; and there are no clues I can see in any of the mongrel_debug logs, except that rails.log on the mac mini-server and the iMac are different. • ANY way to consolidate this code?

  I am building a PHP registration form which takes the following fields for up to 20 athletes: First Name Middle Initial Last Name Federation Number Address City State Zip DOB SSN Phone Email I am only through 7 of the fields for each fighter and my php file is very large (over 40kb). Is there ANY way to consolidate this code at all? I am also having to validate the information on each field (as I said - 20 athletes x 12 fields = 240 validations on a single page). • Installing Ubuntu on an Asus Vivotab Smart Windows 8 32-bit processor tablet

  Good day, I just got an Asus Vivotab Smart with Windows 8 but the processor is actually a 32-bit type. I am kinda confused with the Ubuntu version to install (32-bit or 64-bit). I have read all the tips and guidelines on installing Ubuntu on a Windows 8 machine. I have disabled fast boot, quiet boot, secure boot, and still cannot boot from the usb. I tried this with Ubuntu 12.04.2, 12.10, and 13.04 (the 64-bit versions only). I am yet to try a 32-bit version but I'm reluctant since Canonical says only the 64-bit version was developed to handle the Windows 8 UEFI issues. Also, I have a boot-override field in my UEFI options which I think force-boots from the boot option one selects. I selected to force-boot from my pendrive containing Ubuntu, but the screen just blinks momentarily and nothing happens. Please help me to figure out how to load ubuntu on my machine. I don't really want the Windows 8......just Ubuntu on my tablet. Thank you.

I got the driver update for the broadcom networking card via the Additional Drivers application but that did nothing. I love the look and feel of using Ubuntu but I have no technological experience for the matter. Any help would be awesome. When I scan for wireless connections while in Ubuntu, my computer picks up nothing, while on Win7 it will pick up the handful of wireless networks around my area. My wired connection is fine, but the use of not having wireless on a laptop is rather contradictory to it as a feature. Cheers! Also, I just installed 11.10, if that helps any.   Trying to get my 09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5755M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02) working with my wifi. I just installed Raring Ringtail on this dell latitude D630 and I can't get it to connect without a wifi dongle. I've tried sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer because it worked on a bunch of old Dell laptops that I converted over before, but it didn't work on this one. Is this driver even compatible with wifi? Please help.
