• How to check if the sum of some records equals the difference between two other records in t-sql?

  I have a view that contains bank account activity. ACCOUNT BALANCE_ROW AMOUNT SORT_ORDER 111 1 0.00 1 111 0 10.00 2 111 0 -2.50 3 111 1 7.50 4 222 1 100.00 5 222 0 25.00 6 222 1 125.00 7 ACCOUNT = account number BALANCE_ROW = either starting or ending balance would be 1, otherwise 0 AMOUNT = the amount SORT_ORDER = simple order to return the records in the order of start balance, activity, and end balance I need to figure out a way to see if the sum of the non balance_row rows equal the difference between the ending balance and the starting balance. The result for each account (1 for yes, 0 for no) would be simply added to the resulting result set. Example: Account 111 had a starting balance of 0.00. There were two account activity records of 10.00 and -2.5. That resulted in the ending balance of 7.50. I've been playing around with temp tables, but I was not sure if there is a more efficient way of accomplishing this. Thanks for any input you may have!

  I was following this thread and copied the code in my project. Playing around with it turns out that it seems not to be very precise. Recall the formula: y = ax^2 + bx +c Since the first given point I have is at x1 = 0, we already have c=y1 . We just need to find a and b. Using: y2 = ax2^2 + bx2 +c y3 = ax3^2 + bx3 +c Solving the equations for b yields: b = y/x - ax - cx Now setting both equations equal to each other so b falls out y2/x2 - ax2 - cx2 = y3/x3 - ax3 - cx3 Now solving for a gives me: a = ( x3*(y2 - c) + x2*(y3 - c) ) / ( x2*x3*(x2 - x3) ) (is that correct?!) And then using again b = y2/x2 - ax2 - cx2 to find b. However so far I haven't found the correct a and b coeffs. What am I doing wrong?

• Get ffmpeg information in friendly way

  Every time I try to get some information about my video files with ffmpeg, it pukes a lot of useless information mixed with good things. I'm using ffmpeg -i name_of_the_video.mpg. There are any possibilities to get that in a friendly way? I mean JSON would be great (and even ugly XML is fine). By now, I made my application parse the data with regex but there are lots of nasty corners that appear on some specific video files. I fixed all that I encountered, but there may be more. • CouchDB: How to change view function via javascript?

  Hello Guys, I am playing around with CouchDB to test if it is "possible" [1] to store scientific data (simulated and experimental raw data + metadata). A big pro is the schema-less approach of CouchDB: we have to be very flexible with the metadata, as the set of parameters changes very often. Up to now I have some code to feed raw data, plots (both as attachments), and hierarchical metadata (as JSON) into CouchDB documents, and have written some prototype Javascript for filtering and showing. But the filtering is done on the client side (a.k.a. browser): The map function simply returns everything. How could I change the (or push a second) map function of a specific _design-document with simple browser-JS? I do not think that a temporary view would yield any performance gain...   Hello SO! I am working on a small project and am playing with date() and mktime() in PHP. Compare the two code blocks and their output, notice the second sample adds one to the month in it's first mktime. $monthis = 5; echo date('F', mktime(0,0,0,$monthis,0,0)) . " 1, 2010 is on a " . date("l F", mktime(0, 0, 0, $monthis, 1, 2010)); puts out April 1, 2010 is on a Saturday May but if I change it to $monthis = 5; echo date('F', mktime(0,0,0,$monthis + 1,0,0)) . " 1, 2010 is on a " . date("l F", mktime(0, 0, 0, $monthis, 1, 2010)); puts out May 1, 2010 is on a Saturday May Why do I have to add one to the month in the first mktime so that both emit the same month? I'm looking to develop some mobile travel guides for iPhone/Android/Blackberry etc, and rather than get a CMS built, I'd like to see if there's something out there is similar to Wordpress in that it will allow us to input text, images, Google Maps details, phone numbers, email addresses and potentially some audio/video content. • Select multiple unique lines in MySQL

  Hi, I've got a table with the following columns: ID, sysid, x, y, z, timereceived ID is a unique number for each row. sysid is an ID number for a specific device (about 100 different of these) x, y and z is data received from the device. (totally random numbers) timereceived is a timestamp for when the data was received. I need a SQL query to show me the last inserted row for device a, device b, device c and so on. I've been playing around with a lot of different Select statements, but never got anything that works. I manage to get unique rows by using group by, but the rest of the information is random (or at least it feels very random). Anyone able to help me? There could be hundreds of thousands records in this table.

• Read external HTML page and then find data within

  I'm playing around with an idea, and I'm stuck at this one part. I want to read an external HTML page and then extract the data held within two <dd> tags. I've been using file_get_contents with good results, but I'm at a loss as to how to accomplish that last part. The two tags I want to extract the value from are always enclosed within a particular <div>, was wondering if that might help? In my mind it reads the entire html file into a string, then dumps all the data up until this one particular <div>, and dumps all the data after the closing </div>. Is that possible? I think this needs regex syntax which I've never used yet. So any tips, links, or examples would be great! I can provide more info as necessary.

  I've got an issue where I was tying to center images using the jQuery Cycle plugin. • jQuery.remove() - Is there a way to get the object back after you remove it?

  I basically have the same problem in this questions: Flash Video still playing in hidden div I've used the .remove jquery call and this works. However, I have previous/next buttons when a user scrolls through hidden/non-hidden divs. What I need to know is, once I remove the flash object, is there a way to get it back other than refreshing the page? Basically, can this be handled client side or am I going to need to implement some server side handling. detach() won't work because the flash video continues to play. I can't just hide it because the video continues to play as well.

  Basically i am playing with a plugin that allows future-dated posts on archive pages. My question is broader than this specific functionality, but everyone likes some context. I have my head around many of the plugin development concepts, but must be missing something very basic. I was just playing around with inheritance and I noticed you can instantiate a subclass object in one of two ways when you write code. So then I wondered if there is any functional difference between these two methods. So in the code below, does this produce the exact same result...a MountainBike object, or is there some difference I should know about? Bicycle is the superclass for this example. If I do Bicycle bike or MountainBike bike I am effectively making a MountainBike due to new MountainBike()? So basically the difference is just semantics at this point? • Is it practical to build a web site using strict XHTML and relying on CSS 100% for visual style?

  I tend to take the academic approach all too often and adhere to strict principles in my development when the reality is that I could have finished the project sooner had I been a little less cautious. I'm looking to find the right amount of practicality. I want to take the "Zen" approach to designing a site which (in my words) says "Use HTML strictly for content structure, and let the CSS magic do the rest". How practical is this in reality? One of the issues I run into is that I want to develop (make functional) the site first, then come back in and design it later. I know structure-wise how I want the site to flow, but I haven't even begun playing with the CSS layout, graphics, or any of the other designy stuff. What is the right approach here?

• Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia. • ubuntu 10.04 logs itself out overnight

  Every night when I leave work, I lock the screen via ubuntu's "power" button in the top right hand panel. When I come to work in the morning, I'm greeted with the log-in screen.
