  • Paramiko and Pseudo-tty Allocation

    I'm trying to use Paramiko to connect to a remote host and execute a number of text file substitutions. i, o, e = client.exec_command("perl -p -i -e 's/" + initial + "/" + replaced + "/g'" + conf); Some of these commands need to be run as sudo, which results in: sudo: sorry, you must have a tty to run sudo I can force pseudo-tty allocation with the -t switch and ssh. Is it possible to do the same thing using paramiko?

  • .Net Library for parsing source code files?

    Does anyone know of a good .NET library that allows me to parse source code files, but not only .NET source code files (like java, perl, ruby, etc)? I need programmatic access to the contents of various source code files (e.g. class/method /parameter names, types, etc.). Has anyone come across something like this? I know within .NET it is reasonably possible and there are some libraries out there, but I need that to be abstracted to more types of programming languages.

  • Reflect.Emit Dynamic Type Memory Blowup

    Using C# 3.5 I am trying to generate dynamic types at runtime using reflection emit. I used the Dynamic Query Library sample from Microsoft to create a class generator. Everything works, my problem is that 100 generated types inflate the memory usage by approximately 25MB. This is a completely unacceptable memory profile as eventually I want to support having several hundred thousand types generated in memory. Memory profiling shows that the memory is apparently being held by various System.Reflection.Emit types and methods though I can't figure out why. I haven't found others talking about this problem so I am hoping someone in this community either knows what I am doing wrong or if this is expected behavior. I know that Webmin has a Perl API that makes it easy to parse and modify most common configuration pro grammatically, while preserving changes that might have been made by hand.     Can you figure out the numeric equivalent of an Excel column string in the shortest-possible way, using your favorite language? For example, the A column is 1, B is 2, so on and so forth. Once you hit Z, the next column becomes AA, then AB and so on. Rules: Here is some sample input and output: A: 1 B: 2 AD: 30 ABC: 731 WTF: 16074 ROFL: 326676 I don't know if the submitter is allowed to post a solution, but I have a Perl solution that clocks in at 125 characters :).

    I need to split a string into chunks of 2,2,3,3 characters and was able to do so in Perl by using unpack: unpack("A2A2A3A3", 'thisisloremipsum'); However the same function does not work in PHP, it gives this output: Array ( [A2A3A3] => th ) How can I do this by using unpack?     I visited Slashdot this morning to find out that Python 3.0 has been released. I know C# and Perl, but have wanted to learn Python for some time, especially after I saw its ease of use to create useful tools, not to mention its use in game scripting. My question is, how does the intentionally backwards-incompatible release of Python 3.0 affect adoption, and should I learn Python 2? Or should I take the dive and learn Python 3.0 first, and wait for the libraries to be ported?

I've done it via grep -P command, but on remote machine grep is build without perl regular expression support. Looks like sed or awk is exactly what I need, but I don't familiar with them. Following are the things I have in mind: 1) use high level scripting language like python or perl instead of shell script for a more comprehensive functionality and error handling 2) check that the file exists at the destination after FTP 3) check destination file size. This is a little bit difficult because file size will change if the source and destination are running different OS. Any tips on how to go about this?

I want to run scripts from the Linux or Mac OS X command line, much like we run any other scripting language (ruby, php, perl, python...) $ javascript my_javascript_code.js I looked into spider monkey (Mozilla) and v8 (Google), but both of these appear to be embedded.   • Bash sourcing of functions in other languages

    This is, perhaps, a silly question, but it's something that I've wondered about: is it possible to, say, define a Ruby/Python/Perl/etc. function in some file and then source it in Bash (to make it available anywhere in the current shell)? At the moment, I "source" scripts/functions in other languages by creating a bash alias that executes that script...
