  • Regular expression to truncate a String

    - by user470184
To truncate a String here is what I'm using : String test1 = "this is test truncation 1.pdf"; String p1 = test1.substring(0, 10) + "..."; System.out.println(p1); The output is 'this is te...' How can I access the file name extension so that output becomes : 'this is te... pdf' I could use substring method to access the last three characters but other file extensions could be 4 chars in length such as .aspx Is there a regular expression I can use so that "this is test truncation 1.pdf" becomes "this is te... pdf"

  • How to inspect JSP request URL for String

    - by IAmYourFaja
I have the following processor.jsp file: <% response.sendRedirect("http://buzz.example.com"); %> I want to change it so that it inspects the HTTP request URL for the presence of the word "fizz" and, if it exists, redirect the user to http://fizz.example.org instead. So something like: <% String reqUrl = request.getURL().toLowerCase(); String token = null; if(reqUrl.contains("fizz")) { token = "fizz"; } else { token = "buzz"; } String respUrl = "http://%%%TOKEN%%%.example.com".replace("%%%TOKEN%%%", token); response.sendRedirect(respUrl); %> However this doesn't work. Any ideas on what I should be using instead of request, or if I'm doing anything else wrong?

  • How can I declare constant strings for use in both an unmanaged C++ dll and in a C# application?

    - by Surfbutler
Curently I'm passing my const string values up from my C++ into my C# at startup via a callback, but I'm wondering if there's a way of defining them in a C++ header file that I can then also refer to in C#. I already do this with enums as they are easy. I include a file in both my C++ library project (via a .h file with a pragma once at the top), and my C# application (as a link): #if _NET public #endif enum ETestData { First, Second }; I know it sounds messy, but it works :) But...how can I do the same with string constants - I'm initially thinking the syntax is too different between the platforms, but maybe there's a way? Using clever syntax involving #if _NET, #defines etc? Using resource files? Using a C++/CLI library? Any ideas?

  • Problem with passing folder path string to web service function via jQuery.ajax

    - by the_V
Hello, I need to perform asp.net web-service function call via jQuery and pass asp.net application path to it. That's the way I'm trying to do it (code is located within asp.net page, e.g. aspx file): var d = "{'str':'<%=System.DateTime.Now.ToString() %>', 'applicationPath':'<%=GetApplicationPath() %>'}"; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://localhost/testwebsite/TestWebService.asmx/Test", data: d, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", error: function (xhr, status, error) { var err = eval("(" + xhr.responseText + ")"); alert(err.Message); }, success: function (msg) { } }); That's what GetApplicationPath method looks like: protected string GetApplicationPath() { return HttpUtility.HtmlEncode(Request.PhysicalApplicationPath); } And here is a header of web-service function which I'm trying to call: public void Test(string str, string applicationPath) Function call works well, but applicationPath parameter doesn't passed correctly. When I debug it I see that backslashes are removed, function gets "C:ProjectsSamplesmytestwebsite" instead of "'C:\Projects\Samples\mytestwebsite\'". How can I overcome this?

  • A Tkinter StringVar() Question

    - by Graham
I would like to create a StringVar() that looks something like this: someText = "The Spanish Inquisition" #Here's a normal variable whose value I will change eventually TkEquivalent = StringVar() #and here's the StringVar() TkEquivalent.set(string(someText)) #and here I set it equal to the normal variable. When someText changes, this variable will too... HOWEVER: TkEquivalent.set("Nobody Expects " + string(someText)) If I do this, the StringVar() will no longer automatically update! How can I include that static text and still have the StringVar() update to reflect changes made to someText? Thanks for your help.

  • mysql - multiple where and search

    - by Shamil
I'm trying to write a SQL query that satisfies multiple criteria. Of these, most are connected via a column, so joins are possible, however, some queries are such that I'd have to search additional tables for the information. What would be the least expensive and best way to do this? Let's say that we have a few tables. One table contains information such as sales information for a server: the salesperson, client id, service lease term, timestamps etc. It is possible that a client has multiple sales but with a different "service". I'd need to pick up all of the different ones. Another table has the quotes for the services, I'd need to pick some information out about this, whilst another, which could be joined to this one has some more information. Those tables are linked by a common client ID, so joins are possible, but I'd also need to search the first table for multiple instances of the client ID. Of course, I'd want to restrict the search to certain timestamps, which I can easily do as the timestamps are stored in MySQL format.

  • what are good ways to implement search and search results using ajax?

    - by Amr ElGarhy
i have some text box in a page and in the same page there will be a table 'grid' like for holding the search result. When the user start editing and of the textbox above, the search must start by sending all textboxs values to the server 'ajax', and get back with the results to fill the below grid. Notes: This grid should support paging, sorting by clicking on headers and it will contains some controls beside the results such as checkboxs for boolean values and links for opening details in another page. I know many ways to do this some of them are: 1- updatepanel around all of these controls and thats it "fast dirty solution" 2- send the search criteria using ajax request using JQuery post function for example and get back the JSON result, and using a template will draw the grid "clean but will take time to finish and will be harder to edit later". 3- .... My question is: What do you think will be the best choice to implement this scenario? because i face this scenario too much, and want to know which implementation will be better regarding performance, optimization, and time to finish. I just want to know your thoughts about this issue.

  • Replace String pattern in Java

    - by Hirantha
I have the following string "value=\"\\d{4}((((0[1-9])|(1[0-2]))((0[1-9])|([12]\\d)|(3[01]))?)?|(\\-(((0[1-9])|(1[0-2]))(\\-((0[1-9])|([12]\\d)|(3[01])))?)?)?)d{4}" There I want to replace all the occurrences of "{" with NCHAR(0x7B) "}" with NCHAR(0x7D). An the content in-between "{ }" should remain unchanged: Ex: \\d{4} after replacing -> NCHAR(0x7B) 4 NCHAR(0x7D). Is there a way to do this using Regular Expressions in Java?. Anyway, this can be done processing the whole string using string operations.

  • What is preferred method for searching table data using stored procedure?

    - by Mourya
    I have a customer table with Cust_Id, Name, City and search is based upon any or all of the above three. Which one Should I go for ? Dynamic SQL: declare @str varchar(1000) set @str = 'Select [Sno],[Cust_Id],[Name],[City],[Country],[State] from Customer where 1 = 1' if (@Cust_Id != '') set @str = @str + ' and Cust_Id = ''' + @Cust_Id + '''' if (@Name != '') set @str = @str + ' and Name like ''' + @Name + '%''' if (@City != '') set @str = @str + ' and City like ''' + @City + '%''' exec (@str) Simple query: select [Sno],[Cust_Id],[Name],[City],[Country],[State] from Customer where (@Cust_Id = '' or Cust_Id = @Cust_Id) and (@Name = '' or Name like @Name + '%') and (@City = '' or City like @City + '%') Which one should I prefer (1 or 2) and what are advantages? After going through everyone's suggestion , here is what i finally got.   • Object for storing strings in Python

    - by evg
class MyWriter: def __init__(self, stdout): self.stdout = stdout self.dumps = [] def write(self, text): self.stdout.write(smart_unicode(text).encode('cp1251')) self.dumps.append(text) def close(self): self.stdout.close() writer = MyWriter(sys.stdout) save = sys.stdout sys.stdout = writer I use self.dumps list to store data obtained from prints. Is there a more convenient object for storing string lines in memory? Ideally I want dump it to one big string. I can get it like this "\n".join(self.dumps) from code above. May be it's better to just concatenate strings - self.dumps += text?

  • Read file structure into an array, but only specific files.

    - by dmackerman
I have a directory structure that looks like this: /expandables - folder - folder - folder - folder - BannerInfo.txt - index.html Each one of the folder has the same exact stucture. One file named BannerInfo.txt and index.html. There are about 250 of these folders if that matters. I want to loop through these folders and store each of the index.html files into an array. Inside of the index.html file is just some simple HTML and Javascript of which I want to read into a string to be displayed later on. I'm struggling with how to filter out only the index.html file from the individual folders. The purpose of this is because I want to randomly select an index.html file and put the contents into a textarea. I thought I could do a simple array_rand() on the returned array and spit out the string. Any ideas?

  • Regular expression one or more times JAVA

    - by user1381564
Hi i am trying to match a string against a pattern this is the possible string signal CS, NS, dl: stateType := writeOrRead0; signal CS, pS : stateType := writeOrRead0; signal dS : stateType := writeOrRead0; i am only concerned with the pattern as far as the first colon. but the number of signals define can be more than one it could be three or four even this is the regular expression i have ^signal\\s*(\\w+),*\\s*(\\w+)\\s*: it will pick up the second two signal but and for the second one it picks up CS and pS and but the d and S in the next signal when i use matcher.group() come up seperately Can anyone give me an expression that will pick up all signal names whether there is one two three or more?

  • Strings - Filling In Leading Zeros Wtih A Zero

    - by headscratch
I'm reading an array of hard-coded strings of numeric characters - all positions are filled with a character, even for the leading zeros. Thus, can confidently parse it using substring(start, end) to convert to numeric. Example: "0123 0456 0789" However, a string coming from a database does not fill in the leading zero with a 'zero character', it simply fetches the '123 456 789', which is correct for an arithmetic number but not for my needs and makes for parsing trouble. Before writing conditionals to check for leading zeros and adding them to the string if needed, is there a simple way of specifying they be filled with a character ? I'm not finding this in my Java book... I could have done the three conditionals in the time it took to post this but, this is more about 'education'... Thanks

  • ASP.NET MVC Search

    - by Cameron
Hi I'm building a very simple search system using ASP.NET MVC. I had it originally work by doing all the logic inside the controller but I am now moving the code piece by piece into a repository. Can anyone help me do this. Thanks. Here is the original Action Result that was in the controller. public ActionResult Index(String query) { var ArticleQuery = from m in _db.ArticleSet select m; if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(query)) { ArticleQuery = ArticleQuery.Where(m => m.headline.Contains(query) orderby m.posted descending); } return View(ArticleQuery.ToList()); } As you can see, the Index method is used for both the initial list of articles and also for the search results (they use the same view). In the new system the code in the controller is as follows: public ActionResult Index() { return View(_repository.ListAll()); } The Repository has the following code: public IList<Article> ListAll() { var ArticleQuery = (from m in _db.ArticleSet orderby m.posted descending select m); return ArticleQuery.ToList(); } and the Interface has the following code: public interface INewsRepository { IList<Article> ListAll(); } So what I need to do is now add in the search query stuff into the repository/controller methods using this new way. Can anyone help? Thanks.

My current code doesn't seem to works as it returns null as the value. is this possible?

  • How do I provide a string with a list of values to an "IN" statement

    - by Degan
I am creating a string that is a list of comma-delimitted values by looping through the selections in a CheckBoxList. I am able to display this value, so I know that it is creating what I expect. I am attempting to pass this list to an IN statment in a SELECT query: SelectCommand="SELECT ThisDate, DATEPART(dw, ThisDate) AS Expr1 FROM fbCalendar WHERE (ThisDate &gt;= @ThisDate) AND (ThisDate &lt;= @ThisDate2) AND (DATEPART(dw, ThisDate) IN (@TheseDays))" <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="Label1" Name="TheseDays" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /> This works fine as long as there is only a single item selected, but selecting a second item fails with the message: Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '4,5' to data type int. However, I do not understand when this would be converted to an INT. I have tried many different formatting attempts (such as encapsulating the string in parenthesis (e.g. "(4,5)" ) for the SELECT query, but I have yet to find the right one to make this work. It seems like formatting is the problem, but perhaps I am missing something else.

  • CString a = "Hello " + "World!"; Is it possible?

    - by Sanctus2099
I'm making my own string class and I was wondering if there's any way to replace the compiler behaviour around " characters. As I said in the title I'd like to make it so that CString a = "Hello " + "World!"; would actually work and not give a compiler error telling that it can't add 2 pointers. My string class automatically converts to char* when needed and thus writing printf(a) would not break the code. I'm sure this is a rather weird question but if it's possible I'd really like to know how to do it. Thank you very much
