• Calculate actual time from different timezones in php

  Hai, I would like to calculate actual time from different timezones. I have two mysql tables 1.Timezone table: This table contians two fields (offset value, country name) values are ( -12:00, Eniwetok, Kwajalein) (-11:00, Midway Island, Samoa).... so on 2.My employee table This table contains the employees details with two field names (created_on, timezone) and the values are (current timestamp, -11:00) (current timestamp, -12:00)..... so on Now, If my employee logged in to my system, i want to display the time according to their timezones values from tables. Basically if my Current timestamp is :2010-05-10 15:41:39 offset values is: +5:30 my result should be : 10 May 2010 3:41pm the same for different offset values for the same current timestamp. I believe i explained the issue correctly, if you want any information, please ask me.

• Update Options on Existing jQuery Object

  I'm using Bootstrap and DataTables in my app and I have a default initializer for tables based on class. I can just add the class data-table to the table and it gets instantiated with the default values I want. • DB2 Select - Replace STATES with two character code

  I have a Users Table where it stores city, state and country along with other Users attributes. The states are stored as California, Alabama and so forth. Now I want to retrieve the user information for certain records but the state should get translated to two digit code. Say 'California' should be 'CA'. How should I go about doing this. I was thinking to create a mapping table for state names with there abbreviation and then use some sort of replace function to do it. Any ideas ?

• Responsive logo (image replacement) in html5boilerplate

  I'm using the responsive version of html5 boilerplate via initializr.com. My site uses a custom logo so i added the .ir class to h1 .ir { background-color: transparent; border: 0; overflow: hidden; *text-indent: -9999px; } like this <h1 class="title ir">h1.title</h1> The documentation says Add the .ir class to any element you are applying image-replacement to. When replacing an element's content with an image, make sure to also set a specific background-image: url(pathtoimage.png);, width, and height so that your replacement image appears. So I added to the code these lines .ir { background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/yYnyJ.jpg); background-size: 100% auto; width:450px; height:450px } The problem are the specific width and height. • C++ socket protocol design issue (ring inclusion)

  So I have these two classes, mpqs_client and client_protocol. The mpqs_client class handles a Boost socket connection to a server (sending and receiving messages with some specific format. Upon receiving a message, it calls a static method, parse_message(..), in the class client_protocol, and this method should analyse the message received and perform some corresponding action. Given some specific input, the parse_message method needs to send some data back to the server. As mentioned, this happens through the class mpqs_client. So I could, from mpqs_client, pass "this" to parse_message(..) in client_protocol. However, this leads to a two-way association relationship between the two classes. Something which I reckon is not desireable. Also, to implement this, I would need to include the other in each one, and this gives me a terrible pain. I am thinking this is more of a design issue. What is the best solution here? Code is posted below. • IIS to SQL Server kerberos auth issues

  We have a 3rd party product that allows some of our users to manipulate data in a database (on what we'll call SvrSQL) via a website on a separate server (SvrWeb). On SvrWeb, we have a specific, non-default website setup for this application so instead of going to http://SvrWeb.company.com to get to the website we use http://application.company.com which resolves to SvrWeb and the host headers resolve to the correct website. There is also a specific application pool set up for this site which uses an Active Directory account identity we'll call "company\SrvWeb_iis". We're setup to allow delegation on this account and to allow it to impersonate another login which we want it to do. (we want this account to pass along the AD credentials of the person signed into the website to SQL Server instead of a service account. We also set up the SPNs for the SrvWeb_iis account via the following command: setspn -A HTTP/SrvWeb.company.com SrvWeb_iis The website pulls up, but the section of the website that makes the call to the database returns the message: Cannot execute database query. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. I thought we had the SPN information set up correctly, but when I check the security event log on SrvWeb I see entries of my logging in, but it seems to be using NTLM and not kerberos: Logon Type: 3 Logon Process: NtLmSsp Authentication Package: NTLM Any ideas or articles that cover this setup in detail would be extremely appreciated! If it helps, we are using SQL Server 2005, and both the web and SQL servers are Windows 2003.

• Java EE 6: JSF vs Servlet + JSP. Should I bother learning JSF?

  I am trying to get familiar with Java EE 6 by reading http://java.sun.com/javaee/6/docs/tutorial/doc/gexaf.html. I am a bit confused about the use of JSF. Usually, the way I develop my Web App would be, Servlet would act like a controller and JSP would act like a View in an MVC model. So Does JSF try to replace this structure? Below are the quote from the above tutorial: Servlet are best suited for service-oriented App and control function of presentation-oriented App like dispatching request JSF and Facelet are more appropriated for generating mark-up like XHTML, and generally used for presentation-oriented App Not sure if I understand the above quote too well, they did not explain too well what is service-oriented vs presentation-oriented. A JavaServer Faces application can map HTTP requests to component-specific event handling and manage components as stateful objects on the server. Any knowledgeable Java developer out there can give me a quick overview about JSF, JSP and Servlet? Do I integrate them all, or do I use them separated base on the App? if so then what kind of app use JSF in contrast with Servlet and JSP A JavaServer Faces application can map HTTP requests to component-specific event handling and manage components as stateful objects on the server. • Using Mercurial in a Large Organization

  I've been using Mercurial for my own personal projects for a while, and I love it. My employer is considering a switch from CVS to SVN, but I'm wondering whether I should push for Mercurial (or some other DVCS) instead. One wrinkle with Mercurial is that it seems to be designed around the idea of having a single repository per "project". In this organization, there are dozens of different executables, DLLs, and other components in the current CVS repository, hierarchically organized. There are a lot of generic reusable components, but also some customer-specific components, and customer-specific configurations. The current build procedures generally get some set of subtrees out of the CVS repository. If we move from CVS to Mercurial, what is the best way to organize the repository/repositories? Should we have one huge Mercurial repository containing everything? If not, how fine-grained should the smaller repositories be? I think people will find it very annoying if they have to pull and push updates from a lot of different places, but they will also find it annoying if they have to pull/push the entire company codebase. Anybody have experience with this, or advice?

Since I only need to output the data for specific sheets I added an if statement in the process method to test for the specific sheets.   Hi All, I have created a asp.net website, that we are going to deploy at India. All client of this website would be from SWEDEN. This site have option (last login date time) at user's dashboard after successfull login. Now my problem is that if application is deploy at India and user loggedin from SWEDEN then user is able to show only server date time which is of India. My Steps are as following 1. User logged into site first time at 10 AM(server time), surfing starts... 2. Logged out at 10:30 (server time) 3. Application store server datetime in database. 4. Next time user come, application will store same date and time from database as last loggin datetime. How can i store SWEDEN date time in database when user logged out from site, it will in future grow to other country also. Please help?

  Hi all, First of all, the site rocks. You can ask and get specific answers, mainly, for programming issues. This question is more generic. I studied Physics for my bachelors and Digital Image Processing for my masters, ended on September 2001. From then on I started working as a developer and software analyst. I worked, and working, witn C, C++, AIX OS, XP OS, MFC 4.21. I also did some data translations from EDIFACT to XML and viceversa. I trained users for the applications that I was running, I created documents (detailed design docs mainly), though most of the time I wrote, and I still write, code. Recently I applied for the best greek, graduate university for my MBA and they accepted me, starting on Jan 2011. I am a developer with no specific insight with the languages I work. I can be very productive with some subsets of the languages that the companies I worked for use, though this is a limited thing for a developer. If I get my MBA I can be a semi-businees analyst ot consultant, as I am now a semi-developer. The problem is that I can do some but not all in a designated working area. What should I do from here? Should I get my MBA and look forswitching industries? Should I read and excersise myself with new languages and frameworks? Should I be more focussed to the deligations from my current job (currently I work with MFC)? Just for the note, I am 32 and I feel I am wasting my time. • Synchronous Android activities

  Ive made mis-leading topic in my last question, so i open this new question to clear what I realy want. sorry for the inconvenience. I wanna run two system(Android) activities one after another in specific order from my main activity. now as we know, startActivity is an asynchronous operation, so i cant keep on a specific order. so i thought maybe I should try to do it with dialogBox in the middle but also running a dialogBox is an asynchronous. now as i said the activities which i try to run are Android activities, so i cant even start them with startActivityForResult (or mybe i can, but i dont get any result back to my main(calling) activity) Any tricks how could i manage with this issue? • Indexed key vs indexed separate columns, which one is faster ?

  In MYSQL, from a pure performance perspective, if I have a table with large amount of data with 10/1 read/write ratio. is it faster in read/write performance to have 4 search criteria in separate columns and all indexed or have them combined in to one single string acting as a key and store in one indexed column ? e.g. say this table with 5 columns, first name, last name, sex, country and file where the first four columns will ALWAYS be given as a part of search parameters in a search or have a table with two columns, key and file. where the value of key can be john-smith-male-australia ?? I don't quite get the pros and cons. the point I try to stress is the fact that all parameters will be given.in a search.

  Hi, I am trying to display country codes(+91, +60, +01) in the combobox. Although the dataprovider(array) contains + sign but is removed. I am not getting how to show it with sign. <mx:Array id="countryArray"> <mx:Object label="India" data="+91" /> <mx:Object label="Malaysia" data="+60" /> <mx:Object label="Usa" data="+01" /> </mx:Array> Is this the problem with dataprovider?   Hi everyone, I'm using jquery $.getJSON to retrieve list of cities. Everything works fine, but I'm from Estonia (probably most of you don't know much about this country =D) and we are using some characters like õ, ü. ä, ö. When I pass letters like this to callback function, I keep getting empty strings. I've tried to base64 encode(server-side)-decode(jquery base64 plugin) strings (i thought it was a good idea as long as I can compress pages with php, so I don't have to worry about bandwidth), but in this way I end up with some random chinese symbols. What would be the best workaround for this problem. Thank you.

• Accomodating Multiple DLL Versions

  I have an application that uses a Microsoft DLL (Microsoft.ComponentStudio.ComponentPlatformImplementation.dll) which is used for OS deployment and accessing the catalog files. Version 6.0.0.0 is specific to the Windows Server 2008 catalog files. The newer version 6.1.0.0 is specific to Windows Server 2008 R2 catalog files. Attempting to access a catalog file with the incorrect version results in an exception. My application (VB.NET using VS2005) needs to be able to access either version of these catalogs - I'd be happy with two executables (one for each catalog version) but obviously I don't want to maintain two sets of source code for each. Specifying both sets of DLLs in the project reference is not possible as the DLL names are identical. I'd rather not have to manually add and remove the DLL references each time I want to a build. As far as I know the interfaces etc are effectively identical between the two. I've read a few articles here and elsewhere about bindingRedirect, Assembly.Load etc but none seem to be bearing fruit. Any guidance on the best path to follow would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• KO3: How to deal with stylesheets and scriptfiles

  I'm using Kohana 3 and it's template controller. The problem is that it requires the style- and script files to be added in the controller, which shouldn't really have to care about those. It also makes it a hassle if the views are done by someone else than me since they would have to fool around with the controller just to add a new stylesheet or a new script file. How can this be done in a better way? Just to clearify, what I am wondering is how to deal with page specific stylesheets and scripts. The default and site-wide ones I have no problem with fetching from a config file or just put directly in the template view. My issue is how to add custom ones for specific pages in a good way.

  Hi, In my particular situation, I have couple of solutions to my problem. I want to find out which one is more feasible. In this case, I can also achieve my goal by returning a JSON object from my server side code, however, I do not know how it is done and what is the best way of doing it. First off, I don't need a full aspx page as I only need a response returned from code. So, do I use web services? handler? or is there any other specific way you people do this? Is this solution feasible? do I build the JSON string using the StringBuilder class and inject that string into the target aspx page? are there any precautions? or things that I should be aware of? I appreciate your ideas. What I want to have in new file from this one are only lines : SingleSite_License 3 Intra_CLIENT_License 9 but both SingleSite_License and Intra_Client_License should be taken from 1st found string -other are not necessary. report txt can be different and licenses can be showed in different order . if it not possible - other solution can be just only Free value will be written in new txt file - f.e 3 and 9 . so the last string in line which contains specific words thank you for any tips

• Permutation on Rails Routes

  I currently have an application that for a set of parameters (location, category, budget, ...) a user can enter a "pretty" URL like: /location/canada/ontario /category/primary /budget/small Resulting in the respective parameters: params[:country] == 'canada' and params[:region] == 'ontario' params[:category] == 'primary' params[:budget] == 'small' I want to allow users to perform searches on multiple parameters at once (with each parameter optional). For example: /location/canada/ontario/category/primary/budget/small I understand that this can be achieved using URL parameters, but for SEO reasons I prefer to add the "pretty" parameters. Is this at all possible without listing all possible combination of routes (I have a large number of search-able fields)? I understand that route "globbing" maybe play a roll, but I am not sure how. • How to store and locate multiple interface types within a Delphi TInterfaceList

  Hi, I'm storing small interfaces from a range of objects into a single TInterfaceList 'store' with the intention of offering list of specific interface types to the end user, so each interface will expose a 'GetName' function but all other methods are unique to that interface type. For example here are two interfaces: IBase = interface //---------------------------------------- function GetName : string; //---------------------------------------- end; IMeasureTemperature = interface(IBase) //------------------------------------ function MeasureTemperature : double; //---------------------------------------- end; IMeasureHumidity = interface(IBase) //---------------------------------------- function MeasureHumidity: double; //---------------------------------------- end; I put several of these interfaces into a single TInterfaceList and then I'd like to scan the list for a specific interface type (e.g. 'IMeasureTemperature') building another list of pointers to the objects exporting those interfaces. I wish to make no assumptions about the locations of those objects, some may export more than one type of interface. I know I could do this with a class hierarchy using something like: If FList[I] is TMeasureTemperature then .. but I'd like to do something simliar with an interface type, Is this possible?
