  • Which ports to open for Microsoft SQL Server?

    - by dnolan
    Having searched the internet a few times on the best way to open up SQL Server connectivity through windows firewall i've yet to find a best way of doing it. Does anyone have a guaranteed way of finding which ports SQL is running on so you can open them in windows firewall?

  • Preventing users from deleting SQL data

    - by me2011
    We just purchased a program that requires the users to have an account in the MS SQL server, with read/write access to the program's database. My concern is that since these users will now have write access to the database, they could directly connect to the SQL server outside of the program's client and then mess with the data directly in the tables. Is there anyway I can prevent access to the database while still allowing access via the client program?

  • How can a Perfmon "% Processor Time" counter be over 100%?

    - by Bill Paetzke
    The counter, Process: % Processor Time (sqlservr), is hovering around 300% on one of my database servers. This counter reflects the percent of total time SQL Server spent running on CPU (user mode + privilege mode). The book, Sql Server 2008 Internals and Troubleshooting, says that anything greater than 80% is a problem. How is it possible for that counter to be over 100%?

  • Can a SQL Server have a CPU bottleneck when Processor Time is under 30%

    - by Sleepless
    Is it in principle possible for the CPU to be the bottleneck on a SQL Server if the Performance Counter Processor:Processor Time is constantly under 30% on all cores? Or does low Processor Time automatically allow me to rule out the CPU as a potential trouble source? I am asking this because SQL Nexus lists CPU as the top bottleneck on a server with low Processor Time values.

  • SQL Server 2008 Restore hangs on 100%

    - by CL4NCY
    Hi, I have backed up a large database from SQL 2005 and am trying to restore it to a SQL 2008 database. It seems to work ok until it gets to 100% when it hangs indefinitely. I've managed to restore smaller databases to this server ok. Any ideas?

  • AS3 XML Slideshow Woes

    - by Chris
    Hello All, I am hoping someone out there can possibly shed some light on a couple issues I am having with an image slideshow I have been working on a simple slideshow for a project and everything was going great/as expected up until I created a function to hide the previous images before displaying the next. On the first pass through everything seems to run fine; once the slideshow starts over, the images don't show up, yet when it goes to load the following image, it plays the tween from the hide previous function which shows the image briefly before fading out. So essentially the display is blank, then the timer calls in the next slide and its a brief flash of an image fading out, and then blank again. Another issue I am having is the text that I am loading in from the XML does not seem to want to tween in or out as they are supposed to. Here is the code: import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; import fl.transitions.TweenEvent; import flash.display.BitmapData; import flash.display.Bitmap; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.utils.Timer; import flash.events.TimerEvent; var filePath:String = "photo1.xml"; var iArray:Array = new Array(); var titleArray:Array = new Array(); var dateArray:Array = new Array(); var catArray:Array = new Array(); var descArray:Array = new Array(); var rotationSpeed:Number; var totalImages:Number; var dataList:XMLList; var imagesLoaded:Number = 0; var currImage:Number = 0; var rotationTimer:Timer; var oldTween:Tween; var imageContainer:Sprite = new Sprite(); var imageHolder:Sprite = new Sprite(); var titleContainer:Sprite = new Sprite(); var dateContainer:Sprite = new Sprite(); var catContainer:Sprite = new Sprite(); var descContainer:Sprite = new Sprite(); var theMask:Sprite = new Sprite(); theMask.graphics.beginFill(0x000000); theMask.graphics.drawRect(114, 25, 323, 332); addChild(theMask); var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); catContainer.removeChildAt(0); descContainer.removeChildAt(0); } I'm no flash whiz, bet can generally figure most issues out by either analyzing the code, or digging around online; however, this has me stumped. Any help would really be appreciated, and I thank you all in advance.

  • SQL Server Issue: Could not allocate space for object ... primary filegroup is full

    - by Luke
    Trying to figure out a problem at an office that has SQL Server 2005 installed on Windows SBS Server 2008. Here's the setup: It's an office, and the person who set this all up is nowhere to be found. I'm the best hope they have... One of the programs they use on a workstation gives them an error of "Could not allocate space for object 'Billing' in database "MyDatabase" because primary filegroup is full" when trying to save an entry in their software. I searched around for hours, looking for possible solutions. One was to check for available disk space, and another was to defrag. I checked the hard drives on the server, and there is plenty of space free. I also defragged, which may have helped the problem somewhat. It's hard to say, because it seems like with the nature of the error, if you try over and over you might get it to actually save. My next step was to try to see if autogrowth was enabled on the database. This would seem to be a likely / possible solution, but I can't access the database! If I run the SQL Management Studio, I can log in as my Windows user and view the list of databases. However, if I try to do anything (actually view the database, view the properties, add or edit users), I get errors that I don't have permission. For what it's worth, I also tried runing Management Studio as Administrator, in case that would help. No difference, though. Now, what I'm guessing is going on -- from my limited knowledge of SQL and from reading online -- is that though I'm logged in as a Windows administrator, that account does NOT have SQL access. I do see a list of SQL users, including SA, but I again don't have permission to add one or to change the password on an existing one. And nobody at the office has any idea what the SQL passwords could be. So... here's my thinking thus far: 1 - The "Could not allocate" error likely points to a database that needs to be allowed to autogrow. Especially since I verified there is plenty of free space and the HD has been defragmented. 2 - Enabling autogrow would be very easy to do if I had the proper access within SQL Management Stuido. That leads me to this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sqlman/archive/2011/06/14/tips-amp-tricks-you-have-lost-access-to-sql-server-now-what.aspx It sounds like it's a step-by-step guide for giving me the access I need to SQL. I'm guessing that if I followed this guide, I would be able to then log in to the SQL server via Management Studio with the proper permissions, and would be able to enable autogrow (or simply view the status of the existing database), and hopefully solve the "Could not allocate space" problem! So I guess I have a few questions: 1 - Would you guys agree with my "diagnosis"? Think I'm barking up the right tree? 2 - Is there any risk at all in hurting / disabling / wrecking the current SQL database or setup with me going through the guide to regain SQL access? I understand that per the guide, I would have to temporarily shut down SQL, so obviously it wouldn't be accessible during that time. But it wouldn't be worth the risk if there's a chance I could mess anything up... Like I said, the workstations ARE currently accessing the database somehow, but nobody knows with what login info or anything. Basically, it's set up, it works (usually), but if they had to reload the software, nobody would know how. Any feedback would be appreciated!! The problem is such that it's not an emergency for them, but an annoyance. If I could fix it, it would be wonderful. But if not, I think they'll manage, especially as they are going to eventually stop using this software. Thank you so much for your time! Luke

  • Convert IEnumerable to EntitySet

    - by Gregorius
    Hey all, Hoping somebody can shed some light, and perhaps a possible solution to this issue I'm having... I have used LINQ to SQL to pull some data from a database into local entities. They are products from a shopping cart system. A product can contain a collection of KitGroups (which are stored in an EntitySet (System.Data.Linq.EntitySet). KitGroups contain collections of KitItems, and KitItems can contain Nested Products (which link back up to the original Product type - so its recursive). From these entities I'm building XML using LINQ to XML - all good here - my XML looks beautiful, calling a "GenerateProductElement" function, which calls itself recursively to generate the nested products. Wonderful stuff. However, here's where i'm stuck.. i'm now trying to deserialize that XML back to the original objects (all autogenerated by Linq to SQL)... and herein lies the problem. Linq tO Sql expects my collections to be EntitySet collections, however Linq to Xml (which i'm tyring to use to deserailise) is returning IEnumerable. I've experimented with a few ways of casting between the 2, but nothing seems to work... I'm starting to think that I should just deserialise manually (with some funky loops and conditionals to determine which KitGroup KitItems belong to, etc)... however its really quite tricky and that code is likely to be quite ugly, so I'd love to find a more elegant solution to this problem. Any suggestions? Here's a code snippet: private Product GenerateProductFromXML(XDocument inDoc) { var prod = from p in inDoc.Descendants("Product") select new Product { ProductID = (int)p.Attribute("ID"), ProductGUID = (Guid)p.Attribute("GUID"), Name = (string)p.Element("Name"), Summary = (string)p.Element("Summary"), Description = (string)p.Element("Description"), SEName = (string)p.Element("SEName"), SETitle = (string)p.Element("SETitle"), XmlPackage = (string)p.Element("XmlPackage"), IsAKit = (byte)(int)p.Element("IsAKit"), ExtensionData = (string)p.Element("ExtensionData"), }; //TODO: UUGGGGGGG Converting b/w IEnumerable & EntitySet var kitGroups = (from kg in inDoc.Descendants("KitGroups").Elements("KitGroup") select new KitGroup { KitGroupID = (int) kg.Attribute("ID"), KitGroupGUID = (Guid) kg.Attribute("GUID"), Name = (string) kg.Element("Name"), KitItems = // THIS IS WHERE IT FAILS - "Cannot convert source type IEnumerable to target type EntitySet..." (from ki in kg.Descendants("KitItems").Elements("KitItem") select new KitItem { KitItemID = (int) ki.Attribute("ID"), KitItemGUID = (Guid) ki.Attribute("GUID") }); }); Product ImportedProduct = prod.First(); ImportedProduct.KitGroups = new EntitySet<KitGroup>(); ImportedProduct.KitGroups.AddRange(kitGroups); return ImportedProduct; }

  • Reading XML element & child nodes using LINQ in Vb.net- help me in where condition :(

    - by New Linq Baby
    Hi, I am new in LINQ world. I need an urgent help in reading the xml elements using LINQ with specific where condition. I need to find the max air_temp for a county i.e where county name = "Boone" and hour id = "06/03/2009 09:00CDT" i tried something like below, but no luck : Dim custs As IEnumerable = From c In Element.Load("C:\meridian.xml").Elements("county") _ Select c.Elements("hour").Elements("air_temp").Max() For Each x In custs Response.Write(custs(0).ToString()) Next ------------------- here is the xml file : <forecasts> <issued>06/02/2009 12:00CDT</issued> - <county name="Adair"> - <hour id="06/02/2009 12:00CDT"> <air_temp>61</air_temp> <cloud_cover>overcast</cloud_cover> <dew_point>59</dew_point> <precip_prob>90</precip_prob> <precip_rate>0.12</precip_rate> <precip_type>rain</precip_type> <snow_rate>0.0</snow_rate> <wind_direction>NE</wind_direction> <wind_speed>12</wind_speed> <dew_point_confidence>-3/+3</dew_point_confidence> <road_temp>64</road_temp> <road_frost_prob>0</road_frost_prob> <road_potential_evap_rate>429</road_potential_evap_rate> <road_temp_confidence>-3/+2</road_temp_confidence> <dew_point_confidence>-3/+3</dew_point_confidence> <bridge_temp>63</bridge_temp> <bridge_temp_confidence>-4/+2</bridge_temp_confidence> <bridge_frost>NO</bridge_frost> </hour> - <hour id="06/02/2009 13:00CDT"> <air_temp>61</air_temp> <cloud_cover>overcast</cloud_cover> <dew_point>60</dew_point> <precip_prob>70</precip_prob> <precip_rate>0.01</precip_rate> <precip_type>rain</precip_type> <snow_rate>0.0</snow_rate> <wind_direction>ENE</wind_direction> <wind_speed>10</wind_speed> <dew_point_confidence>-3/+3</dew_point_confidence> <road_temp>65</road_temp> <road_frost_prob>0</road_frost_prob> <road_potential_evap_rate>411</road_potential_evap_rate> <road_temp_confidence>-3/+2</road_temp_confidence> <dew_point_confidence>-3/+3</dew_point_confidence> <bridge_temp>64</bridge_temp> <bridge_temp_confidence>-4/+1</bridge_temp_confidence> <bridge_frost>NO</bridge_frost> </hour>

  • Flex 3 - How to read data dynamically from XML

    - by Brian Roisentul
    Hi Everyone, I'm new at Flex and I wanted to know how to read an xml file to pull its data into a chart, using Flex Builder 3. Even though I've read and done some tutorials, I haven't seen any of them loading the data dynamically. For example, I'd like to have an xml like the following: <data> <result month="April-09"> <visitor> <value>8</value> <fullname>Brian Roisentul</fullname> <coid>C01111</coid> </visitor> <visitor> <value>15</value> <fullname>Visitor 2</fullname> <coid>C02222</coid> </visitor> <visitor> <value>20</value> <fullname>Visitor 3</fullname> <coid>C03333</coid> </visitor> </result> <result month="July-09"> <visitor> <value>15</value> <fullname>Brian Roisentul</fullname> <coid>C01111</coid> </visitor> <visitor> <value>6</value> <fullname>Visitor 2</fullname> <coid>C02222</coid> </visitor> <visitor> <value>12</value> <fullname>Visitor 3</fullname> <coid>C03333</coid> </visitor> </result> <result month="October-09"> <visitor> <value>10</value> <fullname>Brian Roisentul</fullname> <coid>C01111</coid> </visitor> <visitor> <value>14</value> <fullname>Visitor 2</fullname> <coid>C02222</coid> </visitor> <visitor> <value>6</value> <fullname>Visitor 3</fullname> <coid>C03333</coid> </visitor> </result> </data> and then loop through every "visitor" xml item and draw their values, and display their "fullname" when the mouse is over their line. If you need some extra info, please let me just know. Thanks, Brian

  • How to parse xml with multiple, changing namespaces?

    - by sweenrace
    I have the following xml that I'm trying to parse and get the Account Data from <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <ns2:SearchResults xmlns="http://www.intuit.com/sb/cdm/v2" xmlns:ns2="http://www.intuit.com/sb/cdm/qbo" xmlns:ns3="http://www.intuit.com/sb/cdm/qbopayroll/v1"> <ns2:CdmCollections xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="Accounts"> <Account> <Id idDomain="QBO">31</Id> <SyncToken>0</SyncToken> <MetaData> <CreateTime>2010-02-16T18:03:50-08:00</CreateTime> <LastUpdatedTime>2010-02-16T18:03:50-08:00</LastUpdatedTime> </MetaData> <Name>Accounts Payable</Name> <Subtype>AccountsPayable</Subtype> <CurrentBalance>34002.00</CurrentBalance> </Account> <Account> <Id idDomain="QBO">36</Id> <SyncToken>0</SyncToken> <MetaData> <CreateTime>2011-01-11T13:24:14-08:00</CreateTime> <LastUpdatedTime>2011-01-11T13:24:14-08:00</LastUpdatedTime> </MetaData><Name>Accounts Receivable (A/R)</Name> <Subtype>AccountsReceivable</Subtype> <CurrentBalance>1125.85</CurrentBalance> </Account> </ns2:CdmCollections> <ns2:Count>10</ns2:Count> <ns2:CurrentPage>1</ns2:CurrentPage> </ns2:SearchResults> The following code sometimes work such that the I can see that children tags and values of CdmCollections. However, it doesnt always work for the same query. Looking at the raw xml I can see the namespaces change, e.g. sometimes ns2="http://www.intuit.com/sb/cdm/qbo" (works) and other times ns2 = "http://www.intuit.com/sb/cdm/v2" (doesnt work). I thought by using the namespaces array I could handle that issue but its not working. Any suggestions how I can fix this? $account_xml = new SimpleXMLElement($account_query_response); $namespaces = $account_xml->getNamespaces(true); $account_xml->registerXPathNamespace('c', $namespaces["ns2"]); $x = 0; foreach($account_xml->xpath('//c:SearchResults') as $search) { echo "<br>row " . $x; $search->registerXPathNamespace('c', $namespaces["ns2"]); var_dump($search->xpath('//c:CdmCollections')); }

  • SQLServer:Namespaces preventing access to query data

    - by Brian
    Hi A beginners question, hopefully easily answered. I've got an xml file I want to load into SQLServer 2008 and extract the useful informaiton. I'm starting simple and just trying to extract the name (\gpx\name). The code I have is: DECLARE @x xml; SELECT @x = xCol.BulkColumn FROM OPENROWSET (BULK 'C:\Data\EM.gpx', SINGLE_BLOB) AS xCol; -- confirm the xml data is in @x select @x as XML_Data -- try and get the name of the gpx section SELECT c.value('name[1]', 'varchar(200)') as Name from @x.nodes('gpx') x(c) Below is a heavily shortened version of the xml file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <gpx xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" version="1.0" creator="Groundspeak Pocket Query" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0/gpx.xsd http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0 http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0/cache.xsd" xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0"> <name>EM</name> <desc>Geocache file generated by Groundspeak</desc> <author>Groundspeak</author> <email>[email protected]</email> <time>2010-03-24T14:01:36.4931342Z</time> <keywords>cache, geocache, groundspeak</keywords> <wpt lat="51.2586" lon="-2.213067"> <time>2008-03-30T07:00:00Z</time> <name>GC1APHM</name> <desc>Sandman's Noble Hoard by Sandman1973, Unknown Cache (2/3)</desc> <groundspeak:cache id="832000" available="True" archived="False" xmlns:groundspeak="http://www.groundspeak.com/cache/1/0"> <groundspeak:name>Sandman's Noble Hoard</groundspeak:name> <groundspeak:placed_by>Sandman1973</groundspeak:placed_by> </groundspeak:cache> </wpt> </gpx> If the first two lines are replaced with just: <gpx> the above example works correctly, however I then can't access groundspeak:name (/gpx/wpt/groundspeak:cache/groundspeak:name), so my guess its a problem with the namespace. Any help would be appriciated.

  • using xml type attribute for derived complex types

    - by David Michel
    Hi All, I'm trying to get derived complex types from a base type in an xsd schema. it works well when I do this (inspired by this): xml file: <person xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="Employee"> <name>John</name> <height>59</height> <jobDescription>manager</jobDescription> </person> xsd file: <xs:element name="person" type="Person"/> <xs:complexType name="Person" abstract="true"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name= "name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name= "height" type="xs:double" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="Employee"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="Person"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="jobDescription" type="xs:string" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> However, if I want to have the person element inside, for example, a sequence of another complex type, it doesn't work anymore: xml: <staffRecord> <company>mycompany</company> <dpt>sales</dpt> <person xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="Employee"> <name>John</name> <height>59</height> <jobDescription>manager</jobDescription> </person> </staffRecord> xsd file: <xs:element name="staffRecord"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="company" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name="dpt" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name="person" type="Person"/> <xs:complexType name="Person" abstract="true"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name= "name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name= "height" type="xs:double" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="Employee"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="Person"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="jobDescription" type="xs:string" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:extension> </xs:complexContent> </xs:complexType> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> When validating the xml with that schema with xmllint (under linux), I get this error message then: config.xsd:12: element complexType: Schemas parser error : Element '{http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema}sequence': The content is not valid. Here is the xml <Trailer> <TrailerField name="SegmentLabelOne" length="4" type="String">TSTS</TrailerField> <TrailerField name="SegmentLabelTwo" length="2" type="String">00</TrailerField> <CountItem length="10" type="Numeric">MT</CountItem> <TrailerField name="SegmentLabelThree" length="2" type="String">01</TrailerField> <CountItem length="10" type="Numeric">MA</CountItem> <TrailerField name="SegmentLabelFour" length="2" type="String">02</TrailerField> <TrailerField name="FilerOne" length="65" type="String"> </TrailerField> </Trailer> And here is the xsd <xsd:complexType name="TrailerSegment"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element name="NameOfElement" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:simpleContent> <xsd:extension base="xsd:string"> <xsd:attribute name="name" type="xsd:string"></xsd:attribute> </xsd:extension> </xsd:simpleContent> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> <xsd:element name="CountItem" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:simpleContent> <xsd:extension base="xsd:string"> <xsd:attribute name="length" type="xsd:string"></xsd:attribute> <xsd:attribute name="type" type="xsd:string"></xsd:attribute> </xsd:extension> </xsd:simpleContent> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> <xsd:element name="TrailerField" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xsd:complexType> <xsd:simpleContent> <xsd:extension base="xsd:string"> <xsd:attribute name="name" type="xsd:string"></xsd:attribute> <xsd:attribute name="length" type="xsd:string"></xsd:attribute> <xsd:attribute name="type" type="xsd:string"></xsd:attribute> </xsd:extension> </xsd:simpleContent> </xsd:complexType> </xsd:element> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType>

  • delete elements in xml?

    - by fayer
    i've got some elements in a xml document i want to delete. so i want to create another xml document without those elements. here is an example of how it looks like at the moment: <entity id="1000070"> <name>apple</name> <type>category</type> <entities> <entity id="7002870"> <name>mac</name> <type>category</type> <entities> <entity id="7002907"> <name>leopard</name> <type>sub-category</type> <entities> <entity id="7024080"> <name>safari</name> <type>subject</type> </entity> <entity id="7024701"> <name>finder</name> <type>subject</type> </entity> </entities> </entity> </entities> </entity> <entity id="7024080"> <name>iphone</name> <type>category</type> <entities> <entity id="7024080"> <name>3g</name> <type>sub-category</type> </entity> <entity id="7024701"> <name>3gs</name> <type>sub-category</type> </entity> </entities> </entity> <entity id="7024080"> <name>ipad</name> <type>category</type> </entity> </entities> </entity> i want to create another xml document without the sub-category and subject elements. so the new one will look like this: <entity id="1000070"> <name>apple</name> <type>category</type> <entities> <entity id="7002870"> <name>mac</name> <type>category</type> </entity> <entity id="7024080"> <name>iphone</name> <type>category</type> </entity> <entity id="7024080"> <name>ipad</name> <type>category</type> </entity> </entities> </entity> should i use simplexml/php or xslt to do this? are there other ways? would be great with some code examples...thanks!

  • Flatten XML using XSLT but based on nesting level

    - by user2532750
    I'm new to XSLT and I'm trying to write some XSLT that will flatten any given XML such that a new line occurs whenever the nesting level changes. My input can be any XML document, with any number of nested levels so the structure isn't known to the XSLT. Due to the tools available to me, my solution has to use XSLT version 1.0. For example. <?xml version="1.0"?> <ROWSET> <ROW> <CUSTOMER_ID>0</CUSTOMER_ID> <NAME>Default Company</NAME> <BONUSES> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>21</BONUS_ID> <DESCRIPTION>Performance Bonus</DESCRIPTION> </BONUSES_ROW> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>26</BONUS_ID> <DESCRIPTION>Special Bonus</DESCRIPTION> </BONUSES_ROW> </BONUSES> </ROW> <ROW> <CUSTOMER_ID>1</CUSTOMER_ID> <NAME>Dealer 1</NAME> <BONUSES> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>27</BONUS_ID> <DESCRIPTION>June Bonus</DESCRIPTION> <BONUS_VALUES> <BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <VALUE>10</VALUE> <PERCENT>N</PERCENT> </BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <VALUE>11</VALUE> <PERCENT>Y</PERCENT> </BONUS_VALUES_ROW> </BONUS_VALUES> </BONUSES_ROW> </BONUSES> </ROW> <ROWSET> needs to becomes.... 0, Default Company 21, Performance Bonus 26, Special Bonus 1, Dealer 1 27, June Bonus 10, N 11, Y The XSLT I've written so far is... <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="text" encoding="iso-8859-1"/> <xsl:strip-space elements="*" /> <xsl:template match="/*/child::*"> <xsl:apply-templates select="*"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="*"> <xsl:value-of select="text()" /> <xsl:if test="position()!= last()"><xsl:text>,</xsl:text></xsl:if> <xsl:if test="position()= last()"><xsl:text>&#xD;</xsl:text></xsl:if> <xsl:apply-templates select="./child::*"/> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> but my output just isn't correct, with gaps and unnecessary data. 0,Default Company, ,21,Performance Bonus 26,Special Bonus 1,Dealer 1, 27,June Bonus, ,10,N 11,Y It seems there needs to be a check as whether or not a node can contain text, but I'm stuck and could do with an XSLT expert's help.

  • Injecting Entitymanager via XML and not annnotations.

    - by user355543
    What I am trying to do is inject through XML almost the same way that is done through A @PersistenceContext annotation. I am in need of this because of the fact I have different entity managers I need to inject into the same DAO. The databases mirror one another and I would rather have 1 base class and for instances of that base class then create multiple classes just so I can use the @PersistenceContext annotation. Here is my example. This is what I am doing now and it works. public class ItemDaoImpl { protected EntityManager entityManager; public List<Item> getItems() { Query query = entityManager.createQuery("select i from Item i"); List<Item> s = (List<Item>)query.getResultList(); return s; } public void setEntityManger(EntityManager entityManager) { this.entityManager = entityManager; } } @Repository(value = "itemDaoStore2") public class ItemDaoImplStore2 extends ItemDaoImpl { @PersistenceContext(unitName = "persistence_unit_2") public void setEntityManger(EntityManager entityManager) { this.entityManager = entityManager; } } @Repository(value = "itemDaoStore1") public class ItemDaoImplStore1 extends ItemDaoImpl { @PersistenceContext(unitName = "persistence_unit_1") public void setEntityManger(EntityManager entityManager) { this.entityManager = entityManager; } } TransactionManagers, EntityManagers are defined below... <!-- Registers Spring's standard post-processors for annotation-based configuration like @Repository --> <context:annotation-config /> <!-- For @Transactional annotations --> <tx:annotation-driven transaction-manager="transactionManager1" /> <tx:annotation-driven transaction-manager="transactionManager2" /> <!-- This makes Spring perform @PersistenceContext/@PersitenceUnit injection: --> <bean class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.support.PersistenceAnnotationBeanPostProcessor"/> <!-- Drives transactions using local JPA APIs --> <bean id="transactionManager1" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.JpaTransactionManager"> <property name="entityManagerFactory" ref="entityManagerFactory1" /> </bean> <bean id="transactionManager2" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.JpaTransactionManager"> <property name="entityManagerFactory" ref="entityManagerFactory2" /> </bean> <bean id="entityManagerFactory1" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean"> <property name="persistenceUnitName" value="persistence_unit_1"/> ... </bean> <bean id="entityManagerFactory2" class="org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean"> <property name="persistenceUnitName" value="persistence_unit_2"/> ... </bean> What I want to do is to NOT create classes ItemDaoImplStore2 or ItemDaoImplStore1. I want to have these as instances of ItemDaoImpl via xml instead. I do not know how to inject the entitymanager properly though. I want to simulate annotating this as a 'Repository' annotation, and I also want to be able to specify what entityManager to inject by the persistence unit name. I want something similar to the below using XML instead. <!-- Somehow annotate this instance as a @Repository annotation --> <bean id="itemDaoStore1" class="ItemDaoImpl"> <!-- Does not work since it is a LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean--> <!-- Also I would perfer to do it the same way PersistenceContext works and only provide the persistence unit name. I would like to be able to specify persistence_unit_1--> <property name="entityManager" ref="entityManagerFactory1"/> </bean> <!-- Somehow annotate this instance as a @Repository annotation --> <bean id="itemDaoStore2" class="ItemDaoImpl"> <!-- Does not work since it is a LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean--> <!-- Also I would perfer to do it the same way PersistenceContext works and only provide the persistence unit name. I would like to be able to specify persistence_unit_2--> <property name="entityManager" ref="entityManagerFactory2"/> </bean>

  • xml validation problem

    - by Hoax
    I'm having trouble validating a schema I created. • XDocument + IEnumerable is causing out of memory exception in System.Xml.Linq.dll

    - by Manatherin
    Basically I have a program which, when it starts loads a list of files (as FileInfo) and for each file in the list it loads a XML document (as XDocument). The program then reads data out of it into a container class (storing as IEnumerables), at which point the XDocument goes out of scope. The program then exports the data from the container class to a database. After the export the container class goes out of scope, however, the garbage collector isn't clearing up the container class which, because its storing as IEnumerable, seems to lead to the XDocument staying in memory (Not sure if this is the reason but the task manager is showing the memory from the XDocument isn't being freed). As the program is looping through multiple files eventually the program is throwing a out of memory exception. To mitigate this ive ended up using System.GC.Collect(); to force the garbage collector to run after the container goes out of scope. this is working but my questions are: Is this the right thing to do? (Forcing the garbage collector to run seems a bit odd) Is there a better way to make sure the XDocument memory is being disposed? Could there be a different reason, other than the IEnumerable, that the document memory isnt being freed? Thanks. Edit: Code Samples: Container Class: public IEnumerable<CustomClassOne> CustomClassOne { get; set; } public IEnumerable<CustomClassTwo> CustomClassTwo { get; set; } public IEnumerable<CustomClassThree> CustomClassThree { get; set; } ... public IEnumerable<CustomClassNine> CustomClassNine { get; set; }</code></pre> Custom Class: public long VariableOne { get; set; } public int VariableTwo { get; set; } public DateTime VariableThree { get; set; } ... Anyway that's the basic structures really. The Custom Classes are populated through the container class from the XML document. The filled structures themselves use very little memory. A container class is filled from one XML document, goes out of scope, the next document is then loaded e.g. public static void ExportAll(IEnumerable<FileInfo> files) { foreach (FileInfo file in files) { ExportFile(file); //Temporary to clear memory System.GC.Collect(); } } private static void ExportFile(FileInfo file) { ContainerClass containerClass = Reader.ReadXMLDocument(file); ExportContainerClass(containerClass); //Export simply dumps the data from the container class into a database //Container Class (and any passed container classes) goes out of scope at end of export } public static ContainerClass ReadXMLDocument(FileInfo fileToRead) { XDocument document = GetXDocument(fileToRead); var containerClass = new ContainerClass(); //ForEach customClass in containerClass //Read all data for customClass from XDocument return containerClass; } Forgot to mention this bit (not sure if its relevent), the files can be compressed as .gz so I have the GetXDocument() method to load it private static XDocument GetXDocument(FileInfo fileToRead) { XDocument document; using (FileStream fileStream = new FileStream(fileToRead.FullName, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read, FileShare.Read)) { if (String.Compare(fileToRead.Extension, ".gz", true) == 0) { using (GZipStream zipStream = new GZipStream(fileStream, CompressionMode.Decompress)) { document = XDocument.Load(zipStream); } } else { document = XDocument.Load(fileStream); } return document; } } Hope this is enough information. Thanks Edit: The System.GC.Collect() is not working 100% of the time, sometimes the program seems to retain the XDocument, anyone have any idea why this might be?

  • Linq To Xml problems using XElement's method Elements(XName)

    - by Dorian McHensie
    Hello everyone. I have a problem using Linq To Xml. A simple code. I have this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <data xmlns="http://www.xxx.com" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.xxx.com/directory file.xsd"> <contact> <name>aaa</name> <email>[email protected]</email> <birthdate>2002-09-22</birthdate> <telephone>000:000000</telephone> <description>Description for this contact</description> </contact> <contact> <name>sss</name> <email>[email protected]</email> <birthdate>2002-09-22</birthdate> <telephone>000:000000</telephone> <description>Description for this contact</description> </contact> <contact> <name>bbb</name> <email>[email protected]</email> <birthdate>2002-09-22</birthdate> <telephone>000:000000</telephone> <description>Description for this contact</description> </contact> <contact> <name>ccc</name> <email>[email protected]</email> <birthdate>2002-09-22</birthdate> <telephone>000:000000</telephone> <description>Description for this contact</description> </contact> I want to get every contact mapping it on an object Contact. To do this I use this fragment of code: XDocument XDoc = XDocument.Load(System.Web.HttpRuntime.AppDomainAppPath + this.filesource); XElement XRoot = XDoc.Root; //XElement XEl = XElement.Load(this.filesource); var results = from e in XRoot.Elements("contact") select new Contact((string)e.Element("name"), (string)e.Element("email"), "1-1-1", null, null); List<Contact> cntcts = new List<Contact>(); foreach (Contact cntct in results) { cntcts.Add(cntct); } Contact[] c = cntcts.ToArray(); // Encapsulating element Elements<Contact> final = new Elements<Contact>(c); Ok just don't mind that all: focus on this: When I get the root node, it is all right, I get it correctly. When I use the select directive I try to get every node saying: from e in XRoot.Elements("contact") OK here's the problem: if I use: from e in XRoot.Elements() I get all contact nodes, but if I use: from e in XRoot.Elements("contact") I GET NOTHING: Empty SET. OK you tell me: Use the other one: OK I DO SO, let's use: from e in XRoot.Elements(), I get all nodes anyway, THAT's RIGHT BUT HERE COMES THE OTHER PROBLEM: When Saying: select new Contact((string)e.Element("name"), (string)e.Element("email"), "1-1-1", null, null); I Try to access <name>, <email>... I HAVE TO USE .Element("name") AND IT DOES NOT WORK TOO!!!!!!!!WHAT THE HELL IS THIS????????????? IT SEEMS THAT I DOES NOT MATCH THE NAME I PASS But how is it possible. I know that Elements() function takes, overloaded, one argument that is an XName which is mapped onto a string. Please consider that the code I wrote come from an example, It should work. Please somebody help me. THANKS IN ADVANCE
