    HI. I know this is simple question but when I use FirstPersonTestImage.Save(IIdComboBox.Text + "-" + i + ".jpg"); it works and saves file to folder where is the .exe file .     Using Vim, I'm trying to pipe visually selected text to a UNIX command and have the output appended to the end of the current file. For example, say we have a SQL command such as: SELECT * FROM mytable; I want to do something like the following: V # select text :'<,'!mysql -uuser -ppass mydb But instead of having the output overwrite the currently selected text, I would like to have the output appended to the end of the file. You probably see where this is going. I'm working on using VIM as a simple SQL editor. That way, I don't have to leave VIM to edit, tweak, test SQL code. Thanks!

  • What is the best practice for reading a large number of custom settings from a text file?

    So I have been looking through some code I wrote a few years ago for an economic simulation program. Each simulation has a large number of settings that can be saved to a file and later loaded back into the program to re-run the same/similar simulation. Some of the settings are optional or depend on what is being simulated. The code to read back the parameters is basically one very large switch statement (with a few nested switch statements). I was wondering if there is a better way to handle this situation. One line of the settings file might look like this: #RA:1,MT:DiscriminatoryPriceKDoubleAuction,OF:Demo Output.csv,QM:100,NT:5000,KP:0.5 //continues...     I want to make a website, but all I know is basic HTML and CSS. On this website, I want the user to input in multiple text fields (sort of like they take a quiz) and then the program will make a text file based on the user input which the user can download. I want it to work backwards, too, so that the text file is the input. What do I need to learn to make a website to do this? Will javascript do the trick? I'm a beginning to intermediate programmer, mainly with java and I've learned some C# recently. I thought I could learn ASP.Net for this, but it turns out my hosting doesn't support it.

    If I include this in a table cell: <td style="text-align: right; font-style: italic; color: maroon;">... the contents of the cell are aligned as I expect. If I include the following CSS: .right-notice { text-align: right; font-style: italic; color: maroon; } and this cell: <td class=".right-notice">... the contents of the cell are not right aligned. Why is this? What don't I know? If I change the CSS to replace text-align with float, that works. Thanks.

    For some strange reason, in iPhone OS 3.0 this doesn't work: I made a big fullscreen UILabel with numberOfLines = 0 and baselineAdjustment = UIBaselineAdjustmentNone. It refuses to show the text in the upper left. It's always in the center of the bounding box, aligned to the left. The documentation says: UIBaselineAdjustmentNone Adjust text relative to the top-left corner of the bounding box. This is the default adjustment. Available in iPhone OS 2.0 and later. Probably a framework bug? I started with shiny new labels to test it. Text is centered.

    Is it possible for python to accept input like this: Folder name: Download But instead of the user typing Download it is already there as a initial value. If the user wants to edit it as Downloads all he has to do is add a 's' and press enter. Using normal input command: folder=input('Folder name: ') all I can get is a blank prompt: Folder name: Is there a simple way to do this that I'm missing?

  • Python - 2 Questions: Editing a variable in a function and changing the order of if else statements

    First of all, I should explain what I'm trying to do first. I'm creating a dungeon crawler-like game, and I'm trying to program the movement of computer characters/monsters in the map. The map is basically a Cartesian coordinate grid. The locations of characters are represented by tuples of the x and y values, (x,y). The game works by turns, and in a turn a character can only move up, down, left or right 1 space. I'm creating a very simple movement system where the character will simply make decisions to move on a turn by turn basis. Essentially a 'forgetful' movement system. A basic flow chart of what I'm intending to do: Find direction towards destination Make a priority list of movements to be done using the direction eg.('r','u','d','l') means it would try to move right first, then up, then down, then left. Try each of the possibilities following the priority order. If the first movement fails (blocked by obstacle etc.), then it would successively try the movements until the first one that is successful, then it would stop. At step 3, the way I'm trying to do it is like this: def move(direction,location): try: -snip- # Tries to move, raises the exception Movementerror if cannot move in the direction return 1 # Indicates movement successful except Movementerror: return 0 # Indicates movement unsuccessful (thus character has not moved yet) prioritylist = ('r','u','d','l') if move('r',location): pass elif move('u',location): pass elif move('d',location): pass elif move('l',location): pass else: pass In the if/else block, the program would try the first movement on the priority on the priority list. At the move function, the character would try to move. If the character is not blocked and does move, it returns 1, leading to the pass where it would stop. If the character is blocked, it returns 0, then it tries the next movement. However, this results in 2 problems: How do I edit a variable passed into a function inside the function itself, while returning if the edit is successful? I have been told that you can't edit a variable inside a function as it won't really change the value of the variable, it just makes the variable inside the function refer to something else while the original variable remain unchanged. So, the solution is to return the value and then assign the variable to the returned value. However, I want it to return another value indicating if this edit is successful, so I want to edit this variable inside the function itself. How do I do so? How do I change the order of the if/else statements to follow the order of the priority list? It needs to be able to change during runtime as the priority list can change resulting in a different order of movement to try.

    I have seem a lot of videos in which developers changing CSS on the fly in chrome. I tried the same thing but chrome dod not allow me to change the code. I can't write on the style sheet. Is there any specific setting to do this? Kindly help. EDIT: To edit the css, I right clock on an element, select inspect element. It will open the console. I select the id of the element and go to style.css in resource and try to change the css. It do not allow me to write there.

    I find the mouse click behavior of Windows XP and Windows 7 annoying and intrusive. I don't remember Windows NT being quite this bad, or MacOS 7 - 10 which I used in the nineties. When I'm using a browser and I click on a text field - for example, the address bar, or a search box - the first thing which happens is the entire field is selected.Subsequent clicks seem to select parts of words, often deciding arbitrarily to exclude or include adjacent punctuation. The same in Excel and other apps, and when trying to rename files, so I'm assuming this behavior comes from a system-wide text handling routine. I frequently want to edit text, cut out or replace odd parts of the insides of words or chunks of sentences, and often find that to get a simple cursor to insert I have to click the mouse up to 4 times in succession. I've had to do a lot of this recently and it has been driving me insane. Is there a place at the system level where this can be configured? In a perfect world, I'd like a single click on a new text area to insert a cursor point, and a rapid double click to select the entire area. Words or text within the area could be selected by inserting a cursor, holding down the mouse button and dragging to the exact point where I want the selection to end - even if that's in the middle of a word. No, I don't need or want Windows to "smart select" a word or sentence for me. I've looked in the Mouse and Accessibility Options control panels (Windows XP). Haven't found anything even close.     I use SharePoint 2010 via Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP. I have a standard input mask for a task consisting of text fields, rich-text fields et al. In text fields, I can use keyboard shortcuts (a.k.a. hotkeys) for editing (Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V) and formatting (Ctrl-B/Ctrl-I), but in the richtext field, none of them work. If I click on the appropriate button, however, the expected function is executed properly - but that is a tedious workaround. What could be the cause? Could it be that the Ctrl key is not recognized at all? (BTW: The problem is not reproducible in Firefox, because it doesn't show the rich-text controls at all. Why is another question.)

    Here is the situation. I have a Windows XP machine that I would like to ping another machine and send the output to a text file for review at a later date. This is quite a standard question with several answers on this website and others. The issue I have is that when reviewing the txt file afterwards, the outcome of the ping appears as a strange character. A screenshot of the text file output can be found at the following link. Please note its the first 8 ping outputs that have a strange character. The %%B was me hoping that would output what I wanted! (Cannot upload image to any hosting websites because the company I work for seems to be afraid of them ....) Here is the code I'm using: @echo off For /f "tokens=1-2 delims=/:" %%b in ("%TIME%") do (set mytime=%%a%%b) PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 1000 >NUL for /f "tokens=*" %%A in ('ping 192.168.5.2 -w 10 -n 1') do (echo %date% %time% %%A >> C:\Temp\Ping_Checks\GarrickSide.txt && GOTO Ping ) :Ping PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 1000 >NUL for /f "tokens=* skip=2" %%A in ('ping 192.168.5.2 -w 10 -n 1') do (echo %date% %time% %%A >> C:\Temp\Ping_Checks\GarrickSide.txt && GOTO Ping ) This code works fine on a Windows 7 machine, but not on a Windows XP machine. It appears that the echo command isn't outputting the right data, but I don't understand this enough to correct it. Can anyone spot where I'm going wrong?
