  • Accessing E4X nodes having special characters in name without breaking binding chain in flex.

    - by Jonas
I am using E4X to bind some values from xml in flex 3. There is a problem when xml tag's (or attribute's) name has special character in it: having xml content var xml:XML = <tag> <special-name att="val" /> </tag> special-name could not be accessed using xml.special-name.@att because it is interpreted as subtraction, on the other hand using square bracket notation xml['special-name'].@att breaks binding chain. Is there an elegant way to solve this (like special language syntax) without writing custom binding setters and listeners?

  • C# property definition

    - by Sunny
For C# properties, I can do this: public class Employee{ public string Name { get; private set; } public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } which means that the Name property can be set within the class Employee & can be read publicly. But, if I want to restrict the set to only within the constructors of the Employee class, I need to do: public class Employee{ public readonly string Name = String.Empty; public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } But, for this case, I had to change the property to a field. Is there any reason this is not possible/allowed in C#: public class Employee{ public string Name { get; private readonly set; } public Employee(string name){ Name = name; } } IMO this will allow us to have properties which can be set only in the constructor & does not require us to change properties to fields... Thanks!

  • Is it bad use "display: table;" to organise a layout into 2 columns?

    - by Colen
Hello, I am trying to make a 2 column layout, apparently the bane of CSS. I know you shouldn't use tables for layout, but I've settled on this CSS. Note the use of display: table etc. div.container { width: 600px; height: 300px; margin: auto; display: table; table-layout: fixed; } ul { white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; display: table-cell; width: 40%; } div.inner { display: table-cell; width: auto; } With this layout: <div class="container"> <ul> <li>First</li> <li>Second</li> <li>Third</li> </ul> <div class="inner"> <p>Hello world</p> </div> </div> This seems to work admirably. However, I can't help wondering - am I obeying the letter of the "don't use tables" rule, but not the spirit? I think it's ok, since there's no positioning markup in the HTML code, but I'm just not sure about the "right" way to do it. I can't use css float, because I want the columns to expand and contract with the available space. Please, stack overflow, help me resolve my existential sense of dread at these pseudo-tables.

  • Lua: Why changing value on one variable changes value on an other one too?

    - by user474563
I think that running this code you will get excactly what I mean. I want to register 5 names to a register(people). I loop 5 times and in each loop I have a variable newPerson which is supposed to save all information about a person and then be added to the people register. In this example only the names of the people are being registered for simplicity. The problem is that in the end all people turn to have the same name: "Petra". I playied a bit with this but can't get a reasonable reason for this behaviour. Help appreciated! local people={} local person={ name="Johan", lastName="Seferidis", class="B" } local names={"Markus", "Eva", "Nikol", "Adam", "Petra"} --people to register for i=1, 5 do --register 5 people local newPerson=person local name=names[i] for field=1, 3 do --for each field(name, lastname, class) if field==1 then newPerson["name"]=name end --register name end people[i]=newPerson end print("First person name: " ..people[1]["name"]) print("Second person name: "..people[2]["name"]) print("Third person name: " ..people[3]["name"])

  • Wordpress display specific sub category of a parent category.

    - by Pennf0lio
So here's the scenario, I'm building a theme that would display sub category of a parent post for Food: [Food] -Hotdog -Eggs -Fries for Toys: [Toys] -Doll -Car -Drums for People: [People] -Mom -Dad -Uncle now I don't want to display their parent category, just their subcategory (eg Doll, Car, Drums). I've looked list_cats() and wp_list_categories() but I can't figure out how to display it right. Thanks!

  • Link List Implementation Help - Visual C++

    - by Greenhouse Gases
Hi there I'm trying to implement a link list which stores the city name (though you will see this commented out as I need to resolve the issue of not being able to use string and needing to use a primitive data type instead during the declaration), longitude, latitude and of course a pointer to the next node in the chain. I am new to the Visual C++ environment and my brain is somewhat scrambled after coding for several straight hours today so I wondered if anyone could help resolve the 2 errors I am getting (ignore the #include syntax as I had to change them to avoid the browser interpreting html!): 1U08221.obj : error LNK2028: unresolved token (0A000298) "public: __thiscall Locations::Locations(void)" (??0Locations@@$$FQAE@XZ) referenced in function "int __clrcall main(cli::array^)" (?main@@$$HYMHP$01AP$AAVString@System@@@Z) 1U08221.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: __thiscall Locations::Locations(void)" (??0Locations@@$$FQAE@XZ) referenced in function "int __clrcall main(cli::array^)" (?main@@$$HYMHP$01AP$AAVString@System@@@Z) The code for my header file is here: include string struct locationNode { //char[10] nodeCityName; double nodeLati; double nodeLongi; locationNode* Next; }; class Locations { private: int size; public: Locations(); // constructor for the class locationNode* Head; int Add(locationNode* Item); }; and here is the code for the file containing the main method: // U08221.cpp : main project file. include "stdafx.h" include "Locations.h" include iostream include string using namespace std; int n = 0; int x; string cityNameInput; bool acceptedInput = false; int Locations::Add(locationNode *NewItem) { locationNode *Sample = new locationNode; Sample = NewItem; Sample-Next = Head; Head = Sample; return size++; } void CorrectCase(string name) // Correct upper and lower case letters of input { x = name.size(); int firstLetVal = name[0], letVal; n = 1; // variable for name index from second letter onwards if((name[0] 90) && (name[0] < 123)) // First letter is lower case { firstLetVal = firstLetVal - 32; // Capitalise first letter name[0] = firstLetVal; } while(n <= x - 1) { if((name[n] = 65) && (name[n] <= 90)) { letVal = name[n] + 32; name[n] = letVal; } n++; } cityNameInput = name; } void nameValidation(string name) { n = 0; // start from first letter x = name.size(); while(!acceptedInput) { if((name[n] = 65) && (name[n] <= 122)) // is in the range of letters { while(n <= x - 1) { while((name[n] =91) && (name[n] <=97)) // ERROR!! { cout << "Please enter a valid city name" << endl; cin name; } n++; } } else { cout << "Please enter a valid city name" << endl; cin name; } if(n <= x - 1) { acceptedInput = true; } } cityNameInput = name; } int main(array ^args) { cout << "Enter a city name" << endl; cin cityNameInput; nameValidation(cityNameInput); // check is made up of valid characters CorrectCase(cityNameInput); // corrects name to standard format of capitalised first letter, and lower case subsequent letters cout << cityNameInput; cin cityNameInput; Locations::Locations(); Locations *Parts = new Locations(); locationNode *Part; Part = new locationNode; //Part-nodeCityName = "London"; Part-nodeLati = 87; Part-nodeLongi = 80; Parts-Add(Part); } I am familiar with the concepts but somewhat inexperienced with OOP so am making some silly errors that you can never find when you've stared at something too long. Any help you can offer will be appreciated! Thanks

  • Mac OS X: Best way to do runtime check for retina display?

    - by Todd Ditchendorf
Given a Cocoa application which runs on Mac OS X 10.7 and later: What is the best way to check, at runtime, if your app is currently running on a Mac with at least one retina display attached? If checking for this sort of thing is just really wrong-headed, I fully welcome a well-reasoned explanation of why. But I'd still like to know :). It seems likely you could just do a check specifically for the new Mac Book Pro "Retina" hardware (the only Mac at this time which currently has a retina display), but ideally, I'd really prefer a more general/generic/future-proof way to check than this. Ideally, I'd like to know how to detect the retina display, not the specific Mac model which currently happens to ship with a retina display.

  • Why does cisco IOS require domain-name to be set before SSH keys can be generated?

    - by Daniel Papasian
Is there a technical reason why IOS requires the device's domain-name to be set (via ip domain-name) before an SSH key can be generated? Is the domain-name used in any way in the generation of the key? Is there any way to force the generation of a key before the domain name is set? UPDATE: Myself (before I posted this question) and others in your answer seem to think it may be used as either a salt or a source of entropy for the key. Wouldn't the domain-name be very predictable? This doesn't seem like a suitable source of entropy.

  • In CSS, does it make sense or is it legal to nest an id in another id -- such as "#main #display img

    - by Jian Lin
In CSS, if it is #main #display img { height: 80px } that means all images within an element with id display that is within another element with id main. But does it make sense or is it legal since id seems to be just global names. It is because SASS actually allow nesting and some code may nest it like #main width: 700px #display img height: 80px which is "id within id".

  • To display the images in mobile devices is it necessary that the images should resides on device in

    - by Shailesh Jaiswal
I am devloping smart device application in C#. In this application I have some images in my application which I used to dispay on emulator from my application. To display the images on emulator I need to create the one folder of images which resides on the emulator. Only after that I am able to display the images in emulator. I am able to create the folder in emulator by using File-Configure-General-Shared Folder. For sharing the folder I am giving the path of the folder which contains the images. Once I share the folder the folder of images which resides in my application will get copied in emulator with the name "Storage Card". Now I need to use the path as Bitmap bmp=new Bitmap(@"/Storage Card/ImageName.jpg"); Now I am able to display the images in emulator. Can we display the images in the emulator without any image folder which resides on emultor (so that we dont need to place the image folder in emulator as in the above case by sharing the folder) ? If the answere is no then to run the application on different mobile devices we need to place the folder which contains the images on different mobile devices. Isnt it? If the answere is yes then how we can display the images on different mobile device from our application without placing any folder of images on mobile devices?

  • How to resolve Resharper's "unused property" warning on properties solely for Display/Value Members?

    - by JYelton
I have defined two properties "Name" and "ID" for an object which I use for the DisplayMember and ValueMember of a ComboBox with a BindingList datasource. I recently installed Resharper to evaluate it. Resharper is giving me warnings on the object that the two properties are unused. Sample code: BindingList<ClassSample> SampleList = new BindingList<ClassSample>(); // populate SampleList cmbSampleSelector.DisplayMember = "Name"; cmdSampleSelector.ValueMember = "ID"; cmbSampleSelector.DataSource = SampleList; private class ClassSample { private string _name; private string _id; public string Name // Resharper believes this property is unused { get { return _name; } } public string ID // Resharper believes this property is unused { get {return _id; } } public ClassSample(string Name, string ID) { _name = Name; _id = ID; } } Am I doing something wrong or is Resharper clueless about this particular usage?

  • Using Linq, how to separate a list in to grouped objects by name?

    - by Dr. Zim
I have a table where a record looks like this varchar(255) Name varchar(255) Text varchar(255) Value Name is the DDL name, Text is what is displayed, and Value is returned upon selection. There are between one and twenty options for each Name. Without iterating though each option like a cursor, is there any way to pull out a list of objects, one for each unique DDL Name, using Linq and C#? A sample of the data: Beds '4 (10)' 4 Beds '5 (1)' 5 Beds '7 (1)' 7 Baths 'NA (13)' NULL Baths '0 (1)' 0 Baths '1 (13)' 1 I was thinking about doing an outer select to get the unique Names, then an inner select to get the list of options for it, then return the set as a List of a set of Lists.

  • Is "campaign_$" a bad name for a SQL column?

    - by Summer
PostgreSQL has allowed me to name a column "campaign_$". I like the name because it's short and to the point, and other potential names like "campaign_receipts" seem longer and less clear. BUT, I wonder if I'll eventually regret putting a $ symbol in a column name, either in PHP or in some other distant part of the architecture. Should I just stick to letters and underscores? Thanks!

  • SQL Server 2003: how can I assign a name to the SUM column ?

    - by Patrick
hi, how can I assign a column name to the SUM column ? i.e. select OwnerUserId, SUM(PostScore) INTO Experts from ... I get this error: An object or column name is missing or empty. For SELECT INTO statements, verify each column has a name. For other statements, look for empty alias names. Aliases defined as "" or [] are not allowed. Change the alias to a valid name. I guess because the column containing the results of SUM has not name. thanks

  • Why does coffeescript generate classes like this?

    - by ryeguy
    Given the following coffeescript code: class Animal constructor: (@name) -> speak: (things) -> "My name is #{@name} and I like #{things}" This is generated: var Animal = (function() { function Animal(name) { this.name = name; } Animal.prototype.speak = function(things) { return "My name is " + this.name + " and I like " + things; }; return Animal; })(); But why isn't this more idiomatic code generated? var Animal = function Animal(name) { this.name = name; }; Animal.prototype.speak = function(things) { return "My name is " + this.name + " and I like " + things; }; I know that coffeescript wraps a lot of stuff in anonymous functions to control scope leak, but what could leak here?

  • How do I update mysql database when posting form without using hidden inputs?

    - by user1322707
    I have a "members" table in mysql which has approximately 200 field names. Each user is given up to 7 website templates with 26 different values they can insert unique data into for each template. Each time they create a template, they post the form with the 26 associated values. These 26 field names are the same for each template, but are differentiated by an integer at the end, ie _1, _2, ... _7. In the form submitting the template, I have a variable called $pid_sum which is inserted at the end of each field name to identify which template they are creating. For instance: <form method='post' action='create.template.php'> <input type='hidden' name='address_1' value='address_1'> <input type='hidden' name='city_1' value='city_1'> <input type='hidden' name='state_1' value='state_1'> etc... <input type='hidden' name='address_1' value='address_2'> <input type='hidden' name='city_1' value='city_2'> <input type='hidden' name='state_1' value='state_2'> etc... <input type='hidden' name='address_2' value='address_3'> <input type='hidden' name='city_2' value='city_3'> <input type='hidden' name='state_2' value='state_3'> etc... <input type='hidden' name='address_2' value='address_4'> <input type='hidden' name='city_2' value='city_4'> <input type='hidden' name='state_2' value='state_4'> etc... <input type='hidden' name='address_2' value='address_5'> <input type='hidden' name='city_2' value='city_5'> <input type='hidden' name='state_2' value='state_5'> etc... <input type='hidden' name='address_2' value='address_6'> <input type='hidden' name='city_2' value='city_6'> <input type='hidden' name='state_2' value='state_6'> etc... <input type='hidden' name='address_2' value='address_7'> <input type='hidden' name='city_2' value='city_7'> <input type='hidden' name='state_2' value='state_7'> etc... // Visible form user fills out in creating their template ($pid_sum converts // into an integer 1-7, depending on what template they are filling out) <input type='' name='address_$pid_sum'> <input type='' name='city_$pid_sum'> <input type='' name='state_$pid_sum'> etc... <input type='submit' name='save_button' id='save_button' value='Save Settings'> <form> Each of these need updated in a hidden input tag with each form post, or the values in the database table (which aren't submitted with the form) get deleted. So I am forced to insert approximately 175 hidden input tags with every creation of 26 new values for one of the 7 templates. Is there a PHP function or command that would enable me to update all these values without inserting 175 hidden input tags within each form post? Here is the create.template.php file which the form action calls: <?php $q=new Cdb; $t->set_file("content", "create_template.html"); $q2=new CDB; $query="SELECT menu_category FROM menus WHERE link='create.template.ag.php'"; $q2->query($query); $toall=0; if ($q2->nf()<1) { $toall=1; } while ($q2->next_record()) { if ($q2->f('menu_category')=="main") { $toall=1; } } if ($toall==0) { get_logged_info(); $q2=new CDB; $query="SELECT id FROM menus WHERE link='create_template.php'"; $q2->query($query); $q2->next_record(); $query="SELECT membership_id FROM menu_permissions WHERE menu_item='".$q2->f("id")."'"; $q2->query($query); while ($q2->next_record()) { $permissions[]=$q2->f("membership_id"); } if (count($permissions)>0) { $error='<center><font color="red"><b>You do not have access to this area!<br><br>Upgrade your membership level!</b></font></center>'; foreach ($permissions as $value) { if ($value==$q->f("membership_id")) { $error=''; break; } } if ($error!="") { die("$error"); } } } $member_id=$q->f("id"); $pid=$q->f("pid"); $pid_sum = $pid +1; $first_name=$q->f("first_name"); $last_name=$q->f("last_name"); $email=$q->f("email"); echo " // THIS IS WHERE THE HTML FORM GOES "; replace_tags_t($q->f("id"), $t); ?>
