• Writing a template for XSLT Copy-Of to transform a message with differences. How?

  I have an xml message that is in the older schema (xsd) format. My new schema is exactly the same but I embedded an element inside the older one. For example : My old schema had an element : <exclude> MyRestriction </exclude> but my new schema is like this : <exclude> <restriction> MyRestriction </restriction> </exclude> and the entire message is the same as before. Last time I used to do a copy-of but now I need to have a template that copy-of everything but move the value of the exclude to the restriction tag. Anyone can help me please ? Thanks

  I was wondering what the easiest way is to convert an integer to the equivalent number of blank spaces. I need it for the spaces between nodes when printing a binary search tree. I tried this `int position = printNode.getPosition(); String formatter = "%1"+position+"s%2$s\n"; System.out.format(formatter, "", node.element);` But I am getting almost 3 times as many spaces compared to the int value of position. I'm not really sure if I am formatting the string right either. Any suggestions would be great! If it makes it clearer, say position = 6; I want 6 blank spaces printed before my node element.

There aren't any spaces in the elements if that matters. I've written a function to do it with for and a counter, but I wondered if there's a better/shorter/canonical Perl way, perhaps a special join syntax or similar. The location of this external image comes from the application xml; • 2) Footer image, a stretched background image. The location of this external image comes from the application xml; 3.a) the carousel contains objects that can flow from right to left, possibly trough a animation (a soft break of the slide). The first object is centered in the middle of the carousel. This is the first element in the video feed. All the subsequent video object are added to the right of the centered object; 4) Total Video object, this object links to window two with the corresponding video of this object. This object is visually build out of the following sub parts:o 4.a) Thumb object (possible playing video thumb); 4.b) Reflection of the Thumb; 4.c) Textual Explanation of Thumb. 1) Video stream, this is the video stream coming from a external server streamed to the television (maybe up scaled) as 720p stream; 2) Advertisement, the type of advertisement shown overlaid on the video is based on previous settings in the video feed. This could mean that Admob, Adsense or a third party image plus URL could be shown. When the advertisement is selected trough navigation (it will highlight in a different color as a border around the advertisement. The color an thickness can be managed trough the application xml), when clicked a browser will open with the associated site (the application will be pushed to the background process, when the user is finished it will return to the app); 3) A back button, an image and navigational element. The location of the image comes from the application xml. The button is only shown when a cursor is moved (a button is pressed on the remote) it will highlight when selected and when pressed will forward the screen to the main window. When the main window is opened the video will be removed from cache and memory and cannot be start from the point it was exited. please give me your idea....

• Counting number of GC cleanups on an object

  How do I keep a count of the number of times that objects of a specific class (type?) are getting disposed in the lifetime of my application. Imagine I have a class A, now, I want to count how many times the objects of A get collected by the GC. I hope I am phrasing this right because I was asked this in an interview today and the answer I gave did not satisfy the interviewer. And this is what I imagine he was trying to ask. What I said was that one could keep a static field called count in the class A and increment it in the Finalize() call of that object. The answer he was expecting was something called a static block. I've never heard of this in .NET/C#. Can someone explain what's this static block?

• Serialising and Deserialising Requests and Responses exactly as WCF does

  I need to deserialise SOAP request XML to .Net request object and to serialise .Net response object to SOAP response XML. I need this to work exactly as WCF does, using the same XML element local names and namespace URIs. The .Net request and response classes were generated from WSDL using SVCUTIL. I have looked at XmlSerializer class, which does most of it, but doesn't take notice of certain WCF-specific custom attributes, like MessageBodyMemberAttribute. I also looked at DataContractSerializer, but that had exceedingly strange ideas about what element names and namespaces to use. Finally, I tried XmlSerializer with an XmlTypeMapping generated by a SoapReflectionImporter; this didn't seem to use any namespaces at all. I rather suspect that I need to be using one of the above techniques, but with some additional subtlety, of which I am unaware. But perhaps there is an entirely different approach? All suggestions welcome.

  The best way to illustrate this question is with...a Fiddle! Before you visit the fiddle, notice there is text behind the grayest element, which is on top of a light gray element that has a border. There is a main wrapping div (root), and two wrapping divs inside (wrap1 and wrap2). The problem here is that I need the content of wrap2 (highlight) to be behind the content of wrap1 (text), but in front of the background of the root. This, however, must not change: The HTML, the elements and wraps should be left untouched. Excluding the order of wrap1 and wrap2 inside root. The highlight div must keep the absolute positioning. Styling highlight with background-color is not an option, the existence of highlight is a must. PS: the italics reference the id's of <div>s in the fiddle example, for whomever was too lazy to visit it.

  Hi All, i am in a very serious problem of tableview reloading. i have two option in my tableview 1) show next 10 Results 2) show previos 10 results I wanna show only 50 results at a time in my table view. when table is populated with 50 results after that on pressing "show next 10 results" the results from 1-10 are removed and results from 51-60 are now displayed and hence i have the total results in my table view from 11-60. As the total # of results remain 50 hence i have the cells with their identifier from 1-50 and now they are not nil. So i also have to code in else block of the condition if(cell == nil) { } else{ Have to write the same code as in if. } Now my cells are properly reloading on clicking "show next 10" and on clicking "show previous 10" but the problem is that because of the code in else block my cells are also reloaded when the user scrolls the table-view. Kindly give some good suggestion what should i do to get out from this situation.

• Replacing text with a link in jQuery

  I'm trying to replace a small part of text in a large HTML document with my own element which I create on the fly. The text may be a huge bulk of text, html, images, what-ever, and what I want is to find the first (or all) the position of a certain string, and replace it with an element that I create using $('< span'). Using simple text.replace('the string', $('< span')); doesn't do the trick (I'm left with [object Object] and not the actual < span that I want. The reason I don't just inject direct HTML is because I want to retain all the binds that are related to the object I'm creating. and doing a replace with a custom ID, and then attaching binds to the ID after the HTML has been altered, seems a bit dirty. Thanks for the help! :)

  Error: End tag for 'optgroup' which is not finished. You have probably failed to include a required child element. Hence the parent element is "not finished", not complete. I want to achieve something like this in select options. USA UK -- Afghanistan I want to put few important countries on top and then a non-selectable divider and then ordered list of remaining countries. I put this divider using empty 'optgroup'. While it works perfectly in all browser, I get validation error. What could be other approaches?

• Is it so bad to have heaps of elements in your DOM?

  I am making a real estate non interactive display for their shop window. I have kicked jCarousel into doing what I want: Add panels per AJAX Towards the end of the current set, go and AJAX some new panels and insert them This works fine, but it appears calling jQuery's remove() on the prior elements cause an ugly bump. I'm not sure if calling hide() will free up any resources, as the element will still exist (and the element will be off screen anyway). I've seen this, and tried carousel.reset() from within a callback. It just clears out all the elements. This will be running on Google Chrome on Windows XP, and will solely by displaying on LCD televisions. I am wondering, if I can't find a reasonable solution to remove the extra DOM elements, will it bring my application to a crawl, or will Chrome do some clever garbage collecting? Or, how would you solve this problem? Thanks

• Load DOM before css?

  My jQuery code sets the height of an element to 0px as soon as the page loads, then animates it to 500px. In my CSS, this element is already set to 500px (in case anyone has javascript turned off). I tried 'DEFER' on the tag where I link to the stylesheet so that the CSS loads in last of all, but that causes a blank white page to show up between navigating through pages - which I don't want, because I lose the smooth page transition effects that I am after. Is there a way that I can set the height in the CSS to 0px and IF javascript IS turned off, have it set to 500px, perhaps? :\ That's what I'm after, in effect. Any ideas? Many thanks for your help.
