    Hi guys, Let's assume: $time = '2010-05-17 02:49:30' // (retrieved from MySQL TIMESTAMP field) How do I do the following in PHP: 1) Check if it has been more than one week since this time has passed? 2) Assuming "false" on (1), find out how much more time until the one week mark, rounded to days and hours remaining. I know this is pretty straightforward, but it uses a very specific syntax. Having never played with time calculations before, I'd appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

    Say you have a String literal with a lot of quotation marks inside it. You could escape them all, but it's a pain, and difficult to read. In some languages, you can just do this: foo = '"Hello, World"'; In Java, however, '' is used for chars, so you can't use it for Strings this way. Some languages have syntax to work around this. For example, in python, you can do this: """A pretty "convenient" string""" Does Java have anything similar?

    I want to define a function replicate to replicate a list of numbers by its value using only list comprehension, for example: replicate [5,1,3,2,8,1,2] output: [5,5,5,5,5,1,3,3,3,2,2,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,1,2,2] I know this would be easy to use the 'replicate' built in function but only list comprehension is allow, how can I do this?     I'm trying to use a dynamically generated fully-qualified table name in sql server 2008. For example, this does not work: select max([id]) from @dbName+N'.[T1]' This will give an error like: Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 73 Incorrect syntax near '+'. I know that something like this works: declare @qualifiedTable varchar(200) = @dbName+N'.[T1]' select max([id]) from @qualifiedTable But I have to do this LOTS of times so I would really like to do it in line. Is it possible?

Now, I would like to have a string with multiple parameters formatted (truncated): printf("%.*s", "%.*s", 3, 3, "abcdef", "xyz123"); but the program crashes. What is the correct syntax? Thank You.

    Hi there, I have a query that looks like this: mysql_query("IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM predict WHERE uid=$i AND bid=$j) THEN UPDATE predict SET predict_tfidf=$predict_tfidf WHERE uid=$i AND bid=$j ELSE INSERT INTO predict (uid, bid, predict_tfidf) VALUES('$i','$j','$predict_tfidf') END IF")or die(mysql_error()); But it dies and mysql tells me to check the syntax near IF EXISTS(....) Can we not use an IF statement to start a mysql query? Thank you in advance.

    I'm using a macro and I think it works fine - #define CStrNullLastNL(str) {char* nl=strrchr(str,'\n'); if(nl){*nl=0;}} So it works to zero out the last newline in a string, really its used to chop off the linebreak when it gets left on by fgets. So, I'm wondering if I can "return" a value from the macro, so it can be called like func( CStrNullLastNL( cstr ) ) ; Or will I have to write a function

What I would like is something that is somewhere between a simple text editor and a full-blown IDE like Eclipse.
