  • How Proxy server works with tcp/http connections?

    Since I am a beginner in the world of internet/networking, I always mess up with these kinds of doubts in my head while programming ;) .. My doubts are, While working behind a proxy, how my requests and responses work? Means my request headers and data will first reach to Proxy server- then proxy server sends it(same headers and data) to corresponding server. And server responses to it with a response header and body to the proxy server-then proxy server sends it to my computer. Wright? While using websockets we are upgrading our http connection to tcp. At this time what is happening @ Proxy server? Does the proxyserver also upgrades its connection to plain TCP? After opening such TCP connections, does the proxy server able to track/log those socket messsages? And most importantly, Is the proxy server transparent or acting like an original server infront of a client? Thanks for any answers or helpful links in advance.

  • Caching images with different query strings (S3 signed urls)

    I'm trying to figure out if I can get browsers to cache images with signed urls. What I want is to generate a new signed url for every request (same image, but with an updated signature), but have the browser not re-download it every time. So, assuming the cache-related headers are set correctly, and all of the URL is the same except for the query string, is there any way to make the browser cache it? The urls would look something like: http://example.s3.amazonaws.com/magic.jpg?WSAccessKeyId=stuff&Signature=stuff&Expires=1276297463 http://example.s3.amazonaws.com/magic.jpg?WSAccessKeyId=stuff&Signature=stuff&Expires=1276297500 We plan to set the e-tags to be an md5sum, so will it at least figure out it's the same image at that point? My other option is to keep track of when last gave out a url, then start giving out new ones slightly before the old ones expire, but I'd prefer not to deal with session info.

  • How the websocket bi-directional concept work?

    I think the main difference between websocket and http streaming (I am not refering to polling and long polling) is websocket allows bi-directional communication which is similar to usual raw socket programming. (above is my understanding, could be wrong, feel free to correct me.) My question is how the web client (browser) continue to send another request in the already-opened websocket? Usual http request will treat another request as new socket connection, but websocket does not, that is why I am confused, how it achieve that? It should be handled in Server side or Client (browser) side?

    Android Code Style Guide defines "Android Code Style Rules". To conform to these rules one have to change quite a number of settings of the Java Code Formatter (Window-Preferences-Java-Formatter) default profile (in Eclipse IDE). Did anyone managed to configure the formatter to follow the "Android Code Style Rules" already? PS: I've tried to do this myself but I've found that there are too many formatter options available, and most of them are not mentioned in the Code Style Guide :-(

    I have written a number of applications for blackberry and am just starting in Android. It seems to me that android has a lot more built in functions. I am starting by recreating some of my BB apps on Android and on one I take a few xml sites and parse them out. On blackberry I implemented this by creating a class that extended a thread. I would construct a new instance of this class with the parameters of my http request and it would call a function back in my main class, sending it the results. I am tempted to reuse my code, but am curious if android has something better built in. I have been looking at the handler class as well as possible using a service. Bascially, I would like to start a new thread that will return a document of a specific url. Thanks!

  • how do i detect \r\n in a u_char type of buffer?

    i am trying to construct http content from packet sniffing in C. right now i am able to save all the packets in a file but i want to get rid of the headers in the first packet. they are also being saved as per they are a part of tcp payload. the actual body after the header starts after double "crlf" or \r\n\r\n in http response. how do i detect \r\n so that i can only save the following part of the buffer in the file. the buffer is u_char type. i cant figure out the command or the part i looked on google and other places but i mostly find c# commands, nothing in C.

If I press escape it and hide the login prompt once and then If I try to go the particular website again it doesn't show the login prompt again. I try "flush all caches" But it doesn't work until I close my terminal and get a new one. Is there any other way to get over with this? This should be a simple question.   • Web Application Problems (web.config errors) HTTP 500.19 with IIS7.5 and ASP.NET v2

    This is driving the whole team crazy. There must be some simple mis-configured part of IIS or our Web Server, but every time we try to run out ASP.NET Web Application on IIS 7.5 we get the following error... Here's the error in full: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. `Detailed Error Information` Module IIS Web Core Notification Unknown Handler Not yet determined Error Code 0x8007000d Config Error Config File \\?\E:\wwwroot\web.config Requested URL http://localhost:80/Default.aspx Physical Path Logon Method Not yet determined Logon User Not yet determined Config Source -1: 0: The machine is running Windows Server 2008 R2. We're developing our Web Application using Visual Studio 2008. According to Microsoft the code 8007000d means there's a syntax error in our web.config -- except the project builds and runs fine locally. Looking at the web.config in XML Notepad doesn't bring up any syntax errors, either. I'm assuming it must be some sort of poor configuration on my part...? Does anyone know where I might find further information about the error? Nothing is showing in EventViewer, either :( Not sure what else would be helpful to mention... Assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks! UPDATES! - POSTED WEB.CONFIG BELOW Ok, since I posted the original question above, I've tracked down the precise lines in the web.config that were causing the error. Here are the lines (they appear between <System.webServer> tags)... <httpHandlers> <remove verb="*" path="*.asmx"/> <add verb="*" path="*.asmx" validate="false" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=f2cb5667dc123a56"/> </httpHandlers> Note: If I delete the lines between the <httpHandlers> I STILL get the error. I literally have to delete <httpHandlers> (and the lines inbetween) to stop getting the above error. Once I've done this I get a new 500.19 error, however. The new error is also more explicit and specifically complains that it doesn't recognize the attribute "validate" (as seen on the third line above). Removing this attribute then makes it complain that the same line doesn't have the required "name" attribute. Adding this attribute then brings up ASP.NET error... Could not load file or assembly 'System.web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=f2cb5667dc123a56' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Obviously I think these new errors have just arisen from me deleting the <httpHandlers> tags in the first place -- they're obviously needed by the application -- so the question remains: Why would these tags kick up an error in IIS in the first place??? Do I need to install something to IIS to make it work with them? Thanks again for any help. WEB.CONFIG Here's the troublesome bits of our web.Config...   • XML\Jquery create listings based on user selection

    Alright, so what I need to try and accomplish is having a static web page that will display information pulled from an XML document and render it to the screen without refreshing. Basic AJAX stuff I guess. The trick is, as I'm trying to think this through I keep coming into 'logical' barriers mentally. Objectives: -Have a chart which displays baseball team names, wins, losses, ties. In my XML doc there is a 'pending' status, so games not completed should not be displayed.(Need help here) -Have a selection list which allows you to select a team which is populated from XML doc. (done) -Upon selecting a particular team from the aforementioned selection list the page should display in a separate area all of the planned games for that team. Including pending. Basically all of the games associated with that team and the dates (which is included in the XML file).     I'm still a newbie with wcf and not too well informed in .net in general. I have a WCF 4 web service that uses the global.asax routing approach and very simplified web.config using the standard endpoint method. This wcf service runs as an application with the default web site on iis 7.5 at present. I need it support both http and https interfaces, if possible. If that's too complex then only https. How is that best handled maintaining the current approach?     I have a ASP.NET 1.1 application running on IIS 6 / Windows Server 2003. It's our application, but we're trying to specifically replicate a customer's installation so the app folder has been copied entirely from their production server onto our test machine, and then we've created the Virtual Directory and Web Application for IIS manually. The problem I have is that when we access the app, we get the standard IIS security error message: The page cannot be displayed You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: •Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access. HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Internet Information Services (IIS) Now this is pretty standard, except as far as I can see it's not anything so simple. I have checked: IIS user has read access to the directory IIS user and Network Service users have read/write access to the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder Virtual directory is set to the correct version of ASP.NET ASP.NET 1.1 Web Service Extension is allowed Virtual directory has the correct mappings of file extensions and all verbs to the aspnet 1.1 DLL Virtual directory properties allow Scripts and Executables to be run Anonymous access is turned on and the username and password is correct What am I missing?

    I have a custom web service deployed into WSS 3. It has two web methods. The first one returns the version of the loaded assembly without any invocation of the SharePoint objects. The second returns some basic info about the library, something like: var spLibrary = [find library logic]; return spLibrary.Name+"@"+spLibrary.Url; In the client app I have something like the following: var service = new WebService1(); service.Url = [url]; service.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; service.Method1(); service.Method2(); When the client app runs on the machine where SharePoint is deployed, everything works just fine. When the client app runs on the remote machine (but under the same user) the first method still works, but the second one throws System.Net.WebException: HTTP 401: Unauthorized. I have tried to set credentials manualy (service.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(login, password, domain);) but this doesnt help. I've tried to invoke the built in SharePoint web services using a similar scenario, and they work just fine: Sorry for the mistake...   • Visual Studio 2008 Web Project error: Unable to start program http://localhost:port

    I am re-hashing this question because I have looked at over 50 threads in different forums and have not been able to get a resolution to my problem. Here are the specs: Windows XP SP3, Visual Studio 2008 SP1, .NET 3.5, ASP. NET MVC 2 project, IE 7 (was IE 8) Up until a few days ago I was not having any issues. It is now happening on any solution that I try to debug. I start a debug session (F5), the solution rebuilds, a VS development web server starts and then I get this error: Unable to start program http://localhost:2012/ If I open a web browser and enter the URL the application loads up. I had upgraded to IE 8 a few weeks ago and read there may be some issues so it has been uninstalled and I am currently on IE 7. Also, while IE 8 was installed I had switched my default browser to Firefox but my current default broweser is now IE7. I have reveiewed the threads on this site and others and have not been able to fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
