• Why does this Bash regex match return an Exit Status of "2"?

  I'm writing a Bash script that needs to scan for the existence of non-ASCII characters in filenames. I'm using the POSIX bracket regex syntax to match the non-ASCII characters, but for some reason, when I test for the match in an if/then statement, the test always returns an Exit Status of 2, and never matches my test string.   Hi all, I'm trying to figure out if there is an easy way to delete all the data in a table using the mySQL .NET API. The only slightly more tricky part to this is that in the C# code, the business logic can be run in both cases where there is, or isn't, data in teh table. So in some regards I almost need an If statement...   Here is my query. Its intention is allow access to properties of the animals that constitute a match of two animals. The match table contains columns for animal1ID and animal2ID to store which animals constitute the match. Why? Is there an alternative way to do this, perhaps with a JOIN statement?

• What is the right way to modify a wordpress query in a plugin?

  Basically i am playing with a plugin that allows future-dated posts on archive pages. My question is broader than this specific functionality, but everyone likes some context. I have my head around many of the plugin development concepts, but must be missing something very basic. I can successfully rewrite a query that gives me the results i want like this: function modify_where( $where ) { global $wp_query; // define $year, $cat, etc if( is_archive() ) { $where = " AND YEAR(wp_posts.post_date)='".$year."'   In one statement I'm trying to group rows of one table by joining to another table. I want to only get grouped rows where their grouped result is not empty. Ex. Items and Categories SELECT Category.id FROM Item, Category WHERE Category.id = Item.categoryId GROUP BY Category.id HAVING COUNT(Item.id) > 0 The above query gives me the results that I want but this is slow, since it has to count all the rows grouped by Category.id. What's a more effecient way? I was trying to do a Group By LIMIT to only retrieve one row per group. But my attempts failed horribly. Any idea how I can do this? Thanks

• Why is there no way to undo 'using' in C++?

  I've often found myself wanting a way to undo the effect of a using statement or to include all of a namespace (such as std) but exclude a bit to be replaced (such as cout). For some reason this isn't possible. I am wondering if anyone knows why it was decided not to add this ability to the language? Is there some technical reason? I assume it wasn't just forgotten since it doesn't seem slated for C++0x either. Just to clarify, I'm not looking for workarounds since Google can show me those. I'm looking for an explanation of why this is impossible, and why it was not considered (as far as I can tell) for inclusion in 0x.

• Nesting if else statements in PHP to validate a URL

  I'm currently writing up a function in order to validate a URL by exploding it into different parts and matching those parts with strings I've defined. What I would like to do check each part of the URL, starting with $tnet_2, and if it fails one of the checks ($tnet_2, $tnet_3, $tnet_5 or $tnet_7), output that it fails, and break out of the if statement. Is there an easy way to accomplish this using some of the code I have already?

• SQLite - executeUpdate exception not caught when database does not exist? (Java)

  So I was purposely trying to break my program, and I've succeeded. I deleted the sqlite database the program uses, while the program was running, after I already created the connection. Then I attempted to update the database as seen below. Statement stmt; try { stmt = Foo.con.createStatement(); stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO "+table+" VALUES (\'" + itemToAdd + "\')"); } catch(SQLException e) { System.out.println("Error: " + e.toString()); } The problem is, it didn't catch the exception, and continued to run as if the database was updated successfully. Meanwhile the database didn't even exist at that point since this was after I deleted it. Doesn't it check if the database still exists when updating? Do I have to check the database connection manually, every time I update to ensure that the database wasn't corrupted/deleted? Is this the way it is normally done, or is there a simpler/more robust approach? Thank you.

  I am using a SQLite database to store values from a data logger. The data logger will eventually fills up all the available hard drive space on the computer. I'm looking for a way to remove the last 25% of the logs from the database once it reaches a certain limit. • Attaching .swf assets to Flex3 by calling getDefinitionByName()

  Hello! Does anybody please know, how could you attach symbols from an .swf file in the Actionscript part of your Flex3 file? I've prepared a simple test case demonstrating my problem. Everything works (there are icons at the 4 buttons, there is a red circle) - except the getDefinitionByName() part. My target is to attach a symbol from library "dynamically" - i.e. depending at the value of the suit variable at the runtime. • Custom DataAnnotation attribute with datastore access in ASP.NET MVC 2

  I have my application designed with Repository pattern implemented and my code prepared for optional dependency injection in future, if we need to support another datastore. I want to create a custom validation attribute for my content objects. This attribute should perform some kind of datastore lookup. For instance, I need my content to have unique slugs. To check if a Slug already exist, I want to use custom DataAnnotation attribute in my Base content object (instead of manually checking if a slug exists each time in my controller's Insert actions). Attribute logic would do the validation. There's an error in line [UniqueSlug(ContentType1)] saying: "An attribute argument must be a constant expression, typeof expression or array creation expression of an attribute parameter type." Let me explain that I need to provide the ContentType1 parameter to the Constructor of UniqueSlug class because I use it in my data provider. It is actually the same error that appears if you try do to this on the built-in Required attribute: [Required(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof (Localize), ErrorMessageResourceName = Resources.Localize.SlugRequired] It does not allow us to set it to dynamic content. In the first case ContentType1 gets known at runtime, in the second case the Resources.Localize.SlugRequired also gets known at runtime (because the Culture settings are assigned at runtime). This is really annoying and makes so many things and implementation scenarios impossible. So, my first question is, how to get rid of this error? The second question I have, is whether you think that I should redesign my validation code in any way?

• oauth_verifier is not passed using DotNetOpenAuth's Webconsumer

  I receive back a good oauth_verifier value from the server, but it is not being passed on via the ProcessUserAuthorization call to the access_token endpoint. I'm using DotNetOpenAuth 3.3.1, and the WebConsumer implementation. The server I'm working with is using OAuth 1.0a not 1.0.1.
