  • How to retrieve Google Appengine Objects by id (Long value) ?

    Hi, i have declared an entity the following way: public class MyEntity { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long id; @Persistent private String text; //getters and setters } Now I want to retrieve the objects using the id. I tried to manage it from the Google Appengine Data Viewer with "SELECT * FROM MyEntity Where id = 382005" or via a query in a servlet. I get no results returned. But i know for sure that the object with the id exists (i made a jsp which queries all objects in the db and displays them in the db). So what is wrong in my query? Am I querying the wrong field? The Google Appengine Data Viewer names the field "ID/name" and it has the value "id=382005". Do I have to query with this names? I've tried but it didn't work out :(

    In the GQL reference [1], it is encouraged to use the IN keyword with a list of values, and to construct a Key from hand the GQL query SELECT * FROM MyModel WHERE __key__ = KEY('MyModel', 'my_model_key') will succeed. However, using the code you would expect to work: SELECT * FROM MyModel WHERE __key__ IN (KEY('MyModel', 'my_model_key1'), KEY('MyModel', 'my_model_key2')) in the Datastore Viewer, there is a complaint of "Invalid GQL query string." What is the correct way to format such a query? [1] http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/datastore/gqlreference.html PS I know there are more efficient ways to do this in Python (without constructing a GQL query) and using the remote_api, but each call to the remote_api counts against quota. In an environment where quota is not (necessarily) free, quick and dirty queries are very helpful.

    i developed a application with in app purchases..when user buys the subscription it gets stored on my server..after testing it few times i deleted the data from server to test it again but when i buy it the sandbox environment says u you already purchased this.TAP OK to download it again for free also i have used this test account on my previous application?? does it means i will have to create a new test account for this application?? also by mistake i used this account on apple store..i read somewhere that doing this will make your test account invalid...is it true?? should i create a new account for it??

  • Many users, many cpus, no delays. Good for cloud?

    I wish to set up a CPU-intensive time-important query service for users on the internet. A usage scenario is described below. Is cloud computing the right way to go for such an implementation? If so, what cloud vendor(s) cater to this type of application? I ask specifically, in terms of: 1) pricing 2) latency resulting from: - slow CPUs, instance creations, JIT compiles, etc.. - internal management and communication of processes inside the cloud (e.g. a queuing process and a calculation process) - communication between cloud and end user 3) ease of deployment A usage scenario I am expecting is: - A typical user sends a query (XML of size around 1K) once every 30 seconds on average. - Each query requires a numerical computation of average time 0.2 sec and max time 1 sec on a 1 GHz Pentium. The computation requires no data other than the query itself and is performed by the same piece of code each time. - The delay a user experiences between sending a query and receiving a response should be on average no more than 2 seconds and in general no more than 5 seconds. - A background save to a DB of the response should occur (not time critical) - There can be up to 30000 simultaneous users - i.e., on average 1000 queries a second, each requiring an average 0.2 sec calculation, so that would necessitate around 200 CPUs. Currently I'm look at GAE Java (for quicker deployment and less IT hassle) and EC2 (Speed and price optimization) as options. Where can I learn more about the right way to set ups such a system? past threads, different blogs, books, etc.. BTW, if my terminology is wrong or confusing, please let me know. I'd greatly appreciate any help.

    I'm working on this big website and I want to put it online before its fully finished... I'm working locally and the database is getting really big so I wanted to upload the website and continue to work on it in the server, but allowing people to enter, so I can test. The question is if this is good for SEO, I mean, there are a lot of things SEO related that are incomplete.. For example: there are no friendly URLs, no sitemap, no .htacces file, lot of 'in-construction' sections... Does Google will penalize me forever? How does it works? Google indexes adn get the structure of the site just once or its constantly updating and checking for changes??? What i should do? What you recommend?!!?

    I want to start with an example illustrating my question. This way it takes more advantage out of the processor cache. struct movedata { vec3 position; vec3 rotation; }; struct drawdata { mesh model; imge texture; }; vector<movedata> movedatas; vector<drawdata> drawdatas; for(auto i = movedatas.begin(); i != movedatas.end(); ++i) { // modify position and rotation } for(auto i = drawdatas.begin(); i != drawdatas.end(); ++i) { // use model, texture, ... } But there comes a point where you need to find other properties according to an entity. For example if the car crashes, I do not need the drawdata and the movedata any more. So I need to delete the entries of this entity in all vectors. The entries are not linked by code. So my question is the following. How are properties of the same entity conceptually linked in a data oriented design?

  • Image Gurus: Optimize my Python PNG transparency function

    I need to replace all the white(ish) pixels in a PNG image with alpha transparency. I'm using Python in AppEngine and so do not have access to libraries like PIL, imagemagick etc. AppEngine does have an image library, but is pitched mainly at image resizing. I found the excellent little pyPNG module and managed to knock up a little function that does what I need: make_transparent.py pseudo-code for the main loop would be something like: for each pixel: if pixel looks "quite white": set pixel values to transparent otherwise: keep existing pixel values and (assuming 8bit values) "quite white" would be: where each r,g,b value is greater than "240" AND each r,g,b value is within "20" of each other This is the first time I've worked with raw pixel data in this way, and although works, it also performs extremely poorly. It seems like there must be a more efficient way of processing the data without iterating over each pixel in this manner? (Matrices?) I was hoping someone with more experience in dealing with these things might be able to point out some of my more obvious mistakes/improvements in my algorithm. Thanks!

    Hi, My application SilverLight which is hosted in my local host, doesn't access my web app and its database over WCF. I don't know why !!. I've looked over 100 sites and blogs which they have scribed how to configure WCF in IIS, but I can't fix my problem. Note : I debugged it with fiddler in my localhost, everything just worked fine, I saw all my site transaction, except a button which is responsible to access Data over WCF, fiddler didn't log that.   • Display streaming video in desktop app.

    I have a Windows native desktop app (C++/Delphi), and I'm successfully using Directshow to display live video in it from a 'local' video capture device. The next thing I want to do is display video from a 'remote' capture device, streamed over the LAN. To stream the video, I guess I can use something like Expression Encoder or VLC, but I'm not sure what's the easiest way to receive/decode the streamed video. Inserting an ActiveX VLC or Flash player might be one option (although the licensing may be an issue then), but I was wondering if there's any way to achieve this with Directshow... Application needs to run on XP, and the video decoding should ideally be royalty free. Suggestions, please!

  • App closes after facebook login in IOS 5

    I am using facebook sdk 3.1 framework for my application. The login process works successfully and returns to the app after facebook login both in simulator(iOS 6.0 and 5.0) and in iPad(iOS 6). But When the same is deployed in IPad with IOS 5, after login, it does not return back to my application and shows a blank white Screen or sometimes my application closes. I dont know what went wrong in iOS 5 and facebook sdk 3.1 framework, also i am not getting any logs to debug... When user clicks it - it instances MyClass (its implementation is in AppCode directory) and turns invisible (button2 becomes visible). When I click button2 it raises "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" Exception.     I'm using Django's templating on appengine, and am having a problem whereby a class I'm importing from another package is not correctly being made available to the template context. Broadly speaking, this is the code. The prop1 is not available in the template in the first example below, but is in the second. MyClass is identical in both cases. This does not work: from module import MyClass context = MyClass() self.response.out.write(template.render(path, context)) This does: class MyClass(object): def __init__(self): self.prop1 = "prop1" context = MyClass() self.response.out.write(template.render(path, context)) If I log the context in the above code I get: <module.MyClass object at 0x107b1e450> when it's imported, and: <__main__.MyClass object at 0x103759390> when it's defined in the same file. Any clues as to what might cause this kind of behaviour?
